The job was installing LVP throughout the entire 2-story house. They had to remove tile, carpet and…read morewood flooring. They got started on time and worked fast, at first, after two weeks it was a pain to get anyone to show up. Eventually the owner started coming by to do stuff, I guess because the workers were on other jobs. The owner even had to load up all the demo materials that had sat outside for over a week by himself. I'd give the work a C- (might pass with some people and fail with other people). The reason is because I have questions about the craftsmanship. If they are cutting corners on the stuff I notice as an untrained person, then what else is not done right? For example, after installing the LVP there is an obvious space with the floor was not level (the floor was bouncy). I would expect to uninstall, then level the floor, then reinstall the LVP. Instead, they drilled holes in several places throughout the house into the LVP, then injected glue into the hole, to glue LVP to the floor. Now, instead of being bouncy, it feels like rocks are under the LVP. Ex. 2: the baseboards are not flush, and where they are joined looks like a toddler glued it together. I told them that the baseboards should be joined and look seamless instead of fixing all the seams. He fixed the two worst ones and left all the rest of the seams throughout the house. So now two baseboards look good all the rest look like crap. The owner said everything will settle in a year and not have all these issues. I'll come back in 2027 with an update. We went through Empire Today, they were no help. I told them to send someone out to fix everything, they sent the same guy that messed everything up. If you have to go with Empire because of money issues, i get it, that's why we went with them .... You get what you pay for, I'm sure it's worth it for a lot of people. I don't know if we could have done anything different, maybe try to catch problems when they happen, cause once it's done, they are not changing it.

I had nothing but problems with Jose and his team but hopefully my experience will serve as a…read morewarning for others. I had LVP floors installed and had my subfloor leveled. Jose had his team/family members do the work, and though they were hard workers, they were incredibly bad at their job. The leveling was completely inadequate and I had to get them back to redo two rooms. The transition pieces were all uneven and they broke one, getting glue everywhere. Jose loves to gaslight and says "my team wouldn't do that". Of course they did and the images prove it. Multiple walls had the flooring right up against the wall instead of leaving the 1/4 inch required gap for expansion. Jose himself was the worst communicator, not saying when his team would arrive till 30 minutes before, when they weren't coming everyday and a few times wouldn't show up due to random excuses. But the worst thing of all, was how uneven the subfloor is. They put so much self-leveling that I had to severely modified doors so that they could open. It was done so poorly, the subfloor varied by a half an inch from the door frame to the wall where the door opens. This was the case on three of the doors in my place. Closet openings were even worse, being 3/4 of an inch off from one side to the other causing lots of expense and a lot of work to find a solution to get a closet door to fit. Overall, the work done is what I would expect a first time floor layer to do. Jose himself was full of excuses and loved to gaslight. The price might seem competitive, but the quality of work makes you feel like you overpaid multiple times.

I bought a remnant for my new bath vanity cabinet and I asked for the new vanity top to be…read morefabricated. Everyone involved in creating a template and in performing the instillation was great - they showed up when they said they would and their work is very good. The problem is with changing costs. I was told the remnant was $300 and the fabrication was $595. A total of $895!!! I paid a deposit and before writing the final check I messaged John to verify everything. All of a sudden the $595 fabrication cost was increased to $850. So, now the job cost is $1,150!!! NOT OKAY !!!! I foolishly did not get a written invoice when we started the transaction. Do NOT be as foolish as I was.... Especially when buying remnants from GD Tile at their fabrication location.

We were interested in refreshing our…read morefireplace in our modern home and had always dreamed of having a black marble fireplace instead of just white drywall. I Yelped and found Del Mar Tile and Stone and checked out photos and crossreferenced everything. He had stellar reviews everywhere. John the owner came out within a day or two (on a Sunday!) to look at the project and gave me a quote the next day. The project involved tiling on the fireplace surround and also into a cutout for our TV and the vent for the fireplace above. The quote was fair for the amount of work involved and I thought, hey if he's already there maybe get him to re-do tile in one of our bathrooms (a much smaller project)? I texted him a video and measurements of the space prior to him working on the space and he was able to quote the bathroom without coming back! Super cool. The quality of work is amazing. I am a detail-oriented, visual person and with the beautiful black marble with white veining that we chose (with a fluted pattern!) I wanted to be particular with what tiles we should use and which we should not. He was more than accommodating and we have a beautiful, beautiful fireplace now and a gorgeous bathroom. Not everybody could do this job. It was technical as a fireplace surround. The tile contractor had to use the right mortar and he had to level it out just right. As we homeowners know, rarely is your house completely true and flat and square everywhere and the tile had to be done to accommodate all of the imperfections in our visually perfect house. The corners and leveling had to be perfect. He had to carve into drywall to make the corner of the fireplace square. It was crazy and it would have taken me decades of experience to do this myself (enter John). The cutouts for the fireplace and the TV surround had to be perfect. The bathroom turned out flawless as well. John is an awesome person and was so kind and courteous to our pets (he told my dog Thatcher she was beautiful) and was respectful of other contractors we were having at the house at the same time. His son Hunter and his other employee Carlos who worked with him were conscientious, clean, and all three were just all around good people. Please see photos! They do not do the fireplace justice!
