I was so excited to try their " Fish and Chips " which has been promoted heavily on social media. I should have realized that it was a PAID endorsement from some millennial touting the entree as " FIRE". The fish was 90 percent batter and the fish had dark pieces in it. Tasted very fishy even after using a lot of lemon wedges. I ate half of one and threw the rest out. The French fries were overly cooked and tasted awful. Bummer! I always look forward to the limited time when they have the lobster burrito. Today's burrito was 98% rice. So dry and tasteless. Ridiculous. That being said the service was very nice. And they have a cute little outdoor wraparound patio at this location. You are sitting in a strip mall parking lot but so it is. Sadly the churro tasted like rancid oil. Rubios is probably my favorite Mexican / seafood chain spot. The food always hits and for Mexican seafood style food at a chain, I've yet to find something better. Rolled into the desert for the holidays and I remembered this Rubios is pretty close to where I stay. I've been to this location and handful of times and it's one of the better Rubios locations I've been to. The only downside to this place is it's located in a fairly busy shopping center so I'm definitely careful when parking here and watching out for the old folks speeding through these lots. Otherwise that's the only thing negative I could say. This location is always impeccably clean inside. Another reason I like this location is they keep the salsa counter and toppings area immaculate. Back home I don't find my rubios to be as clean as here so i definitely appreciate the attention to detail and cleanliness. The limes and lemons slices are always stocked which is another plus. Staff here are friendly and seem happy here always. Today was no exception. When I walked in the two gals at the registers were warm and inviting. Also brought my food out to my table right away. My go to bite here is their classic shrimp burrito. The shrimps are grilled and pretty big for a fast food type place. Impressive quantity and quality of the shrimps. I also love love love their chipotle cream sauce, I always get extra. Cheat meal! If you want something besides shrimp you can't go wrong with their fried fish tacos. That's what this place is known for and they always taste so bomb. A second favorite of mine for sure. Great crispy batter, say no more. In La Quinta this location is an A+. read more

Worst place ever ordered my lunch online at 12:19pm, said it would be ready by 12:30 ended up receiving my food at 12:50. Just to find out later when I was eating it that they didn't even take off the tail on a lot of the shrimps, I got the California bowl with shrimp. I haven't had Rubio's in a long time. The mahi mahi burrito was actually really good! The food came quickly and was filling. The restaurant itself is why I am giving 3 stars. Firstly, the A/C was not functioning well. It was very hot in there and we had a 2 month old baby who was sweating like crazy because it was so hot in there. Secondly, the lady working the front seemed stressed out and overworked. Not sure if she was working a double or something. Thirdly, the trash can was overflowing and trash was being piled up. It would make sense if the lady in the front was too busy to change it so it got that full. Sadly this location is getting just as bad as many others ... night crew is generally pretty good but the lunch crew which I experienced this last Monday was awful...rude ... and just couldn't handle it... Manager was yelling from the kitchen to the front... Good food when they get the order right. Not sure why the idiots they hire have trouble with 5 ingredients in a taco is beyond me, and it never used to be a problem, but recently we've been getting orders and finding out that they're missing pico or chipotle sauce or cheese. Like it's so basic, how can anyone fuck this up and how can anyone let these orders go out when customers can tell at a glance that ingredients are missing? Pay people better so they can focus on their jobs more and provide service that doesn't require me to double check the order in my car every time. read more

I went to eat today at Rubio's Coastal Grill around 1pm, and I didn't have to wait to order. I placed an order of fish tacos. The fish tacos were awesome, good size and full of flavor. I also ordered 2 plain burritos to go, and they did not disappoint. Rubio's meal prices are very reasonable. Everyone working at Rubio's had a positive attitude and the restaurant was very clean. I read some of the previous unfavorable Rubio's restaurant reviews, and I didn't experience any issues. Perhaps management made some operational improvements recently? I will visit the place again when it gets a little busier and will fully update this review. I do recommend Rubio's Coastal Grill in La Quinta. read more

I was famished and wanted to get some thing fairly healthy to eat. I was too hungry to pick up groceries and go home and cook. I knew I could count on Rubio's. Hadn't been here in quite a while, but, as usual, the food tasted great. Yes, it's fast food, but the beans and rice taste perfect. The veggie gourmet taco is literally one of the best things I've ever eaten. I am watching the calories, so I got it without the toasted cheese. It still tasted amazing, and I'm so glad that they still carry it. I just got back from Texas, where I did a bunch of fine dining. The food here actually tasted better! Another awesome thing is they brought back their salsa bar. They have so many choices and they are all so good that I never throw away the extra. I always take it home. The entire restaurant is clean, including the bathrooms. I did notice that they served me on a paper plate, and the utensils are plastic. Excellent customer service and very good fast food. My to go order took about 15 minutes on a weeknight near closing time when the restaurant was mostly empty, but I was happy to wait and enjoy the tropical fish in the saltwater tank near the entrance. I can always count on Rubio's after a long day of work when I just want to take something back to the hotel. This Rubio's kept up with the standard of good quality seafood and beautiful presentation. Don't miss out on being up close and personal with a sweet little puffer fish in the tank! Puffers are intelligent fish and will track you if you walk up close to the tank. They have some other beautiful tropical fish that I have seen in an aquarium in Singapore, and while I don't like that they're cooped up in a restaurant, it's a great way to expose people who may never otherwise have a chance to see these kinds of fish. read more

Worst food I've ever had at Rubios. I'm usually happy with my food but this time I ordered a fish taco and bean and cheese burrito. There was hardly any fish and 1/3 of it was just crispy batter and over cooked at that. The burrito was mostly cheese, a big layer of mozzarella cheese, which is the wrong cheese, it was white, stringy and chewy. So very disappointed! On Sunday May 22,2022 around 5:30 pm, my girlfriend, her son and I we went to this restaurant and order 2 special burritos and a gourmet taco plate and a 2 minutes into eating my girlfriend found a metal nail in half of her burrito, and the beginning she taught that it was a bone, and went inside and talk to the manager when the manager pull the object was a metal nail, yes a nail that anyone use for construction, manager was speechless and we wrote a report and CORP called my girlfriend today and offer 4 dinners and end of the story, wow!
