Hawaiian BBQ & Chicken Katsu
Nadchen A.

My cousin really liked this place so we swung by the drive thru to pick up some food. She got the Chicken Katsu plate and I ordered the Hawaiian BBQ Beef plate. Both plates also come with rice, veggies, and mac salad. You could also ask to substitute one of the rice scoops for a mac salad or vice versa for more rice. Wait time was a little long in the drive thru, there were a couple of cars in front of us while we were in line. It's probably because everything is made to order and there were many orders in line and inside.I can't comment on the service inside the place and the atmosphere there, so it will just be about the food. Everything we ordered was very delicious. I tried some of the Chicken Katsu and it was tasty, it had a nice crisp and it also came with katsu sauce too. But for me, the Hawaiian BBQ was the star of the show. The beef was flavorful, it was chewy, and I have no complaints. I'm also very particular about mac salad, but I really liked this one. It wasn't too sweet, sauce was light, and tasted slightly savory which I preferred. The veggies were a nice touch too, the cabbage was crunchy and refreshing. I would absolutely recommend this place to people if they want to get some hawaiian plate lunch or if they want to eat something good.

So much fluid on the food we were unable to enjoy :/ Also waited forever in the drive thru and would prefer not to be so disappointed.

Had to remove all this katsu breading to get to eat some chicken

Not a review of the food or the staff. This 1-star is for the total lack of details on the food allergens. Instead of providing ingredient info to the kitchen the company hides all the ingredients in pre mixed bags of sauces and flour. And has a statement on its website that says we have all allergens known to the FDA. That's a cop out that companies use to cover their butts for liability reasons. It's not customer friendly. Think about it. This is a massive national franchise business with the resources to do better. Provide allergen info on the main menu items... Chicken, pork, seafood, beef, pork... They've updated their menus and decor but there they're Patrick practices are old school. P.s. This location has the noisiest cooking timers ever. You can't dine here in a relaxed fashion with that buzzer going off every 5 minutes.

Odd hours on an odd day but a good stop for some Hawaiian Sun

I'd like to preface this by saying my family is from Hawaii so a decent plate lunch is hard to come by the side of the Pacific. On a Hawaiian barbecue is a well known chain that does its best to offer a plate lunch. Traditionally a plate lunch two scoops of rice, Mac salad, and your entrée of choice. The one thing that you will notice right away is that most Hawaiian inspired places add weird things into their Mac salad. And that is the biggest giveaway for one something is inspired by someone's vacation versus someone who has had their share of plate lunch. Now onto my review, the location was clean and quaint on a rainy afternoon around two Ish so not a peak service hour. I opted for a mini plate of chicken Katsu and "one can soda" aka Hawaiian Sun canned juice. From order place to order up it was less than five minutes, fairly fast, considering that a lot of people seem to complain about the time of service. The rice was well made... not too wet not too dry and the mac salad didn't contain any extra ingredients thank goodness. The chicken Katsu was a little bit on the thick side with the pieces being a bit fatty however, it was well fried and not drenched in oil. I will say the veggies were a nice touch for the mini plate and upon finishing my meal, I felt comfortable and not over stuffed. I'd recommend getting the full plate for larger appetites. The dining room was clean and the staff appeared to be doing their best to wipe down tables and refill and restock the drink area. All in all my experience was pleasant. I'm not sure how they do in the drive-thru as my sister has mentioned they are hit and miss and sometimes even run out of rice! I'll probably go back and check it out another day during a busier hour to see if this affects service or maybe even try risking the drive-thru. That being said, I don't recall any drive thru plate lunch places. Most are drive in and pick up your order to go. I imagine frying things to order slow those things down quite a bit.

Placed an online order on the app for pickup. The food was ready on time. Everything went well until we got home & noticed a huge cockroach inside the bottom of our food bag! So disgusting. It was trapped in all the grease at the bottom. See photo.

The rating is based on the food. Service was fine but we really just ordered and they called us up so nothing too extensive based on service. But the wait wasn't long. We sat and served our sauces and they are amazing. The teriyaki sauce comes out hot. Loved both the sauces and katsu one as well. The bbq chicken, and all the meats were amazing. The rice was so nice and fluffy. My favorites are the chicken, macaroni salad, which we got extra, and rice. The katsu had a nice crunch. Nicely made and fresh. So were the Rangoons. Real crab definitely in there. Had so much leftover too.

First time trying Onu H BBQ. So good. Delicious flavors on all meats and mac salad. They serve a good amount of food per plate.

Perfect for a couple like my husband & I, where he always prefers American food but I always want rice. Lots of parking. Not the prettiest inside, but everything was clean & the staff were very friendly. Although the boy at the register kept getting our order wrong. My hubby asked for the large 16" Philly, and even clarified twice, but was charged & given the small 8" one instead. He was also bummed that his Philly didn't come with fries, we thought it came with it since it wasn't clarified on the menu nor did the boy taking our order asked if we wanted fries with it. Nevertheless, my husband loved his Philly cheesesteak. Also, none of us asked for lumpia, but it was added to our order. It was a nice mistake tho because the pork lumpia was crispy & delicious. I also ordered both the lechon kawali & the tapsilog. The tapas in the tapsilog was delicious & had the perfect flavor. The lechon kawali could have been a little crisper, but my husband enjoyed that as well. We would definitely come back next time we're in town & craving Filipino & cheesesteaks.

SHORT ANSWER: Update to updates, but another great meal in this amazing location…read more LOCATION: you will not find a nicer buildout anywhere in the Coachella Valley. I know the history here and it is an interesting story. FACILITY: All I can say is no expense was spared, anywhere during the original build. MENU: Very good, lots of choice and maybe you can find something healthy on the menu, but this is a place to experience. FOOD PREP: Ok, never has been over the top but not what they were going for. FOOD QUALITY: It is good, again not a super fancy doing experience, it is a fun dining experience. LIBATIONS: excellent, lots of fun to be had here, a little on the pricey side so check out happy hour or pay up cowboy. . WAITSTAFF: Always great, this is an expensive place to staff year round. OVERALL VALUE: This is a great place to just visit, so yes the food is a bit expensive side but the overall return is great. You will not be disappointed unless you're on a Del Taco value meal budget. TIP: Check on happy hour locations in the bar and outside, it has changed. Sitting outside around the bar when open is much preferred as is the booth seating but no happy hour in the booths, so older people cannot sit and enjoy the tall tables and stools.

I got a Southwest Salmon Salad off the Restaurant Week menu, and it was pretty good. The California roll was actually very good, best thing of the meal. Not sure that it's worth the price but the ambiance of the place is certainly nice.

This review comes after a terrible experience in the Palm Desert location, where I didn't even…read moreorder after waiting for 45 minutes for service in a completely empty restaurant. I came to this location hoping for better service and to give the food a chance. I have been receiving ads relentlessly for the all-you-can-eat service. To my knowledge, there is no other Sushi restaurant in Coachella Valley that offers this. The restaurant is slightly nicer than the Palm Desert location, although the tables have a sticky coating on them that feels like they are permanently dirty. Overall, it looks worn down and cheap but that's not a problem for me. Knowing that they have a separate menu for the all you can eat, we asked for that menu from the start. Just know that you'll have to cross reference the sheet that you fill out to order and the full menu to know what the food items are. This is very cumbersome, as the all-you-can-eat offerings are much less than the ones in the full menu. We were most disappointed that the sashimi is not offered. For $50 per person, this should not be the case. This is where I should've known that this all-you-can-eat menu is specifically designed to fill you up with the cheap stuff. Every single item that we ordered has a ridiculous amount of rice packed into it. There's so much rice that you have to chew for at least a minute and by that time, what you are ingesting is just a ball with the texture of mochi. Extremely dense and gummy. Any flavor coming from the fish is completely erased by the rice vinegar that the rice is seasoned with. As mentioned in other reviews, you must eat all the rice and everything you order or you'll be charged. By the time we were done eating our first roll, we realized that the amount of rice made the all-you-can-eat not worth it. You're better off buying single rolls for cheaper than the price of AYCE. And if you're doing that, there are much better sushi places than this to go to for the same price. I would be amiss if I didn't mention that my gf had bones in her salmon nigiri and hand roll, and was also found in the eel. She also had to eat each piece of these rolls in several bites because the amount of rice is incredible. I also want to be fair and say that this would've been perfectly acceptable flavor-wise if there wasn't so much rice. It just completely overpowers everything once you chew it. We enjoyed their fries, gyoza, and shumai, which are appetizers and are also part of AYCE. But that's not what you should go to a sushi restaurant imo.

Some faves and recs: red mountain roll; caterpillar roll; salmon lover; and spicy scallop roll…read more We've had take out here 4x and will come back soon. They have an excellent ordering system online. One day we will dine in to try AYCE menu. Shop is spacious and clean. Service is friendly.
