I haven't been to Rubio's in well over 10 yrs but I had a taste for fish or shrimp tacos, and this is where Yelp! suggested I go. While at the salsa bar I stumbled upon a jalapeño citrus sauce. It was to die for and it made my already delicious Salsa Verde Shrimp Tacos taste even better. I don't eat cilantro or raw onions so they gave me a side of grilled onions. Very accommodating and very yummy. The side of beans and chips were just tasty and filling enough to not make me miss the rice, which is usually a must-have for me with this type of meal. Thx Yelp! Came in to order food for me and a friend (very very picky friend) the girl taking my order was so good with all my request and there were a lot!!! She double and tripled checked the order to make sure it was right and than realized she accidentally charged me for two extra tacos... (a line had developed at this point) and my picky friend will eat the tacos at some point so I just told her to leave them on anyways and she gave me a coupon for a free taco anyways... Got the chicken street taco plate with chips and guacamole. The tacos were sub par and had no taste with the cilantro and guacamole. When I got the guacamole and chips there was guac spread on 5 chips and the rest of the 20 or so chips I didn't have guac... It's called a cup to make it easier. The rice that came with the tacos had zero taste and was the just bland Mexican rice. Heard good things about this place, so either got the wrong thing or it's just over hyped. read more

First time going to Rubios. Only reason why it's a 3 is because I enjoy a more of authentic Mexican food rather than an upscale taco bell. I had their California Bowl and it was delicious. Also added some sour cream and had their green sauce which had a good taste to it. Their red sauce on the salad bar didn't have a lot of flavor. Customer service was great and was served in a timely manner. I believe this place is known for their fish tacos which from what I seen looked amazing! I recommend this place but if you are looking for real authentic Mexican food this isn't the place. read more

One of my families favorite places to go for lunch and dinner. The staff is always on and delivering an amazing experience. I personally recommend the blackened tilapia! Fresh, spicy and delicious. My wife and daughter are huge fans of the chicken tacos although they are not adventurous enough for me! I have ate there a few times, and they are ok nothing to brag about. I been to Baja California, many times and these taco's can't compare. They are an ok, kind of bland gringo recipe rip off. People tell me they love the fish tacos and burritos, at Rubios, but I am not a fan. To me It is just bland, corporate franchised food. For better Mexican go to Don Cucos. It is a block down the street and well worth the drive. If you like great shrimp go to Big Tuna the tempura is the best in the AV. I hope the board of Rubios takes a trip to Baja Mexico and tries some truely fresh fish tacos. Go to Ensenada and learn how its done. There is more to a great fish taco then just frying a piece of frozen battered fish, slapping it on a dried out corn tortilla, throwing cabbage on top and calling it good. Ate lunch there today. The first thing we noticed when we went in is that the restaurant had very few customers, which was very odd as in the past it has always been crowded during the lunch hours. I had a grilled grande salad with Ono (fish), which consists of grilled meat, Mexican rice, black beans, guacamole,salsa and cheese on shredded cabbage, drizzled with a creamy dressing.Unfortunately the fish was overcooked and therefore dry, but was very tasty. The dressing was good, but there wasn't very much on it. But loved the salsas available on the salsa bar.. Meal was just under $10.. I am sure that we will return in the future because of our past visits, but today just wasn't the best meal we have had there. read more

Definitely the better of the 2 Rubio's in the area. Food always looks and taste great. The plate presentation is amazing every time I go. Makes me more hungry staring at the plate. Everyone that works there are exceptional people, always a smile. When I go for lunch they are busy but remain calm and take care of their customers. My only criticism is that they need to get those lemonades that I seen at other Rubio's ( which I know it totally of the hands of the store). read more
