Pro tip: When people are sitting right in front of you with nothing to eat and nothing to drink, you might want to say something when a pick-up order is ready. Or, maybe I was supposed to stand at the counter looking over everyone's shoulder, or ask if my order is ready every five seconds? I'm not going to give a physical description, I think it will be obvious to anyone who actually goes in this place, but there is one person working here, who is the slowest, laziest person, but he sure perked up when his boyfriend came in to chat. Luckily, there was one Latina in the back working her butt off to make up for him. FRAUD I placed an order for delivery using the Rubio's website. I did not get an order confirmation but my bank was charged $23.19. This included a tip for the delivery driver. My food never arrived so I contacted the store. They asked for my confirmation number but I explained I never got a confirmation number. The store agent said they never got my order. I asked why they charged my bank and she had no answer. She said maybe I ordered from a different store location but I pointed out that even if that were true, I would still have gotten the food. I told her to prepare my order and I would drive over and pick it up. She agreed but when I arrived, a new store representative asked for my confirmation number. I again told her I didn't get a confirmation number but I showed her my bank info proving I was charged $23.19. I asked for my food and she said they didn't prepare it since I can't show a confirmation number. At that point, I told her to cancel and just give me a refund. She said a refund was unusual but she would be nice and refund the money. She proceeded to ring up a refund for $16.00. I told her I paid $23.19 but she said she can only refund the cost of the food; not the fees and tip I paid. She then said they have been having issues with their website. If that's true, I don't know why they gave me such a hard time about getting the food or a refund of the full amount. read more

The business owner needs to update the hours online on all platforms. Some say 9:00pm. We called at 8:25pm asking if we could place a to go order and the employee stated "sorry we can't take orders over the phone" but failed to mention they were closing in 5 minutes. I wouldn't have wasted my time driving there if they would have just said they were about to close. That being said...I have eaten here before in the past and the food was good so no complaints about the actual food. They have a good selection of coastal style Mexican food but not everything is sea food. There is a good variety (shrimp, different types of fish, steak, chicken) and they even have vegan items as well. My favorite thing about Rubio's is the salsa bar, many salsas and toppings. I came here for dinner tonight after getting some boba. The tacos looked amazing so I got the Richard Blais trio. They were interesting, the Buffalo chicken taco was unique yet not very appetizing because of the breading. The other two tacos were pretty good. The no fried beans were yummy as well along with the rice. I also got the California bowl. Wow this is better than the larger chains. Disappointed. I ordered chicken tacos and got shrimp. Also ordered to go, and it came on a plate. Food was exchanged quickly, however they acted like I was a bother for asking for what I ordered. A sorry for the wait would have been nice but nothing. No apology or compensation offered. Most locations have a wait. Now I know why this location is empty. Where do I begin, Let's start with the Rubio's line of food is delicious, even when prepared horribly and cold, once received toss it in the microwave and it's still great! Here are a list of the issues, mind you we've tried other locations around the valley out of frustration and we see the same attitudes and issues at every single one of them so far, so while this location does get the majority of our business, they all suffer from the same foundational problems. The staff at Rubio's all over the valley, are unfriendly and seemingly miserable. They ignore you standing at the counter and wander around in the kitchen or behind the register to avoid you. It's really strange, no eye contact and they are very short when finally taking your order. Deliveries. This is my main gripe! We order constantly and every time there is something missing, sometimes A LOT of something's. 4 desserts, extra taco purchased. The main culprit ALWAYS is salsa, we will order 4 Tomatillo and 4 Diablo salsas for our meal. Door Dash arrives, zero salsas. I look at the receipt, boom salsas! BUT, nothing in the bag! Food is not as good without the salsa! So after quite a few times of this, I was finally done with them. We decided to give them another try with the difference of myself calling and speaking with the manager immediately after placing my order on the app to make sure they gave us everything we ordered, salsas included after explaining our long history of not receiving all of our order. Liz assured us that the salsa would be there and our order would be 100% filled. I was happy with this! Fast forward to 1 hour later, received our order and low and behold we have all of the salsas! BUT my steak burrito is missing which was one of only two entries we order! Called back to speak with Liz, she proceeded to blame it on the driver which was BS, after awhile of aimlessly pointing blame, she said she can refund me, remake it for me but cannot deliver it. I was hungry, extremely annoyed and just wanted my food. So I made the 25 minute drive to get my burrito, even after already paying a delivery fee and tip for the partial order, not door dashes fault so it is what it is. I arrived at the restaurant and told them who I was and why I was there, another lady said that Liz was currently making the burrito for me. I waited for 5-6 minutes, Liz never looked up at me, never came to speak with me about the issue and apologize for the inconvenience. Nada. Got my burrito and headed home to eat it. We've spent a lot of money with Rubio's, we've lost close to $90 in food and desserts that I never received and never called about, again the food is good, it is always cold whether delivered or eaten in the restaurant for some reason, items are always missing due to poor checks and balances or fundamental systems in general are lacking. I don't understand why these Rubio's all have the same issues but I'm sure one more missing item will have me fed up and no longer return as a customer. Try Rubio's at your own risk, you won't get sick or anything like that hopefully, they will just take your money, waste your time only to give you portions of your order, cold food, crappy attitudes and crappy service. I really don't like giving out one star but this place is just a complete disaster. The cashier definitely didn't want to be there, kept interrupting me when I was trying to order. Asked for a California bowl with blackened mahi mahi...no pico/salsa fresca..not that difficult of an order. Well I wait 10+ minutes and the order is all wrong....she didn't even check it. Chicken with pico...not a huge deal but then she asks me a third time to repeat my order. I just don't get it. Another lady I'm assuming is the manager..hands me my food 10 minutes later...no apology, sorry for messing it up and making you wait 20 minutes for a bowl. It was just ridiculous. The food itself was okay, portion was a bit underwhelming but it was the entire customer service that really makes me not ever want to go back. It gets dark early this time of year. As I pass by almost every day, I've been seeing the bright lights of various establishments on the corner of McDowell Rd. and 7th Ave.; one of them being Rubio's Coastal Grill. There's no parking for Rubio's Coastal Grill directly on McDowell road. You have to go behind the buildings. There you'll find a parking lot. Once you find it you'll be able to access the businesses on that stretch of McDowell road. Sometimes it's nice to try something different and being a vegan it's also somewhat challenging, but in a good way. Rubio's started in Southern California - actually San Diego where Ralph Rubio ate his first fish taco from a Mexican street vendor. From that moment on, Ralph fell in love, and started his chain of restaurants. This Rubio's has a great fast food modern ambience. Katrina at the front counter didn't know what Vegan meant, but once I explained, she and her coworker helped me find the appropriate meal. This turned out to be a California Burrito with no meat, roasted vegetables, pinto beans, and no white sauce. I ordered a side of French Fries as well. Katrina was patient, kind, and helped, which I appreciate. The burrito was excellent. The right size; and worthy of the name burrito! It was fresh and delicious! They have a full menu, and a fresh salsa and sauce bar. I really enjoyed the food, the atmosphere, and the staff. Nice place for fast fresh food! Hope you give it a try. Who says Baja style Mexican food can't be served fast? This place definitely satisfies my fix for coastal classics like fish and shrimp tacos. This is my go to for lunch when I need something quick, fresh, light, AND tasty. The menu has lots of choices for protein, and depending on your mood, they have salads, rice bowls, tacos, and burritos. Fresh salsa bar has cilantro, onion, lemon, red and green salsa of varying degrees of heat. I've tried lots of things from the menu, and I have yet to be disappointed. The restaurant itself is clean, organized, and I've never seen the salsa bar messy. It's very laid back, no crazy lines, and I'm usually in and out when I order to go. Service is friendly, and the cooks look like they take their creations seriously-- presentation is always great, which is exceptional for a fast food restaurant chain. Check in on Yelp, and get $2 off any entree. AND on Fridays get you 2 fish tacos with beans and chips (or rice) for $6. Rubio's is one of my favorite Resturant's, I seek them out wherever I go. But for some reason this one just can't seem to get it right. No matter what edits I make to my order, it's never correct. I go maybe 2-3x a month and it's a reoccurring problem. For example, today I asked for NO beans, rice or salsa in my burrito but a side of pinto beans. I got a burrito with rice, salsa and pinto beans inside of it and a side of chips. They also forgot the chipotle sauce. I don't often recommend fast food restaurants, but I absolutely love Rubio's. I once walked ten miles for a Rubio's Fish Taco in high school. They are worth it. I personally recommend getting the original fish taco because that is what they are known for! The beans here are also quite delicious so pay the extra 50 cents or so and get the chips and beans. Once you are done with your fish tacos go back and get a fresh hot churro. It's debatable, but I personally believe the churros here are just a little bit better than Costco. Rubio's is not in every state so if you happen to have one near you give it a try! read more

However, the location closest to me is closed and I decided that since it's been a while I'd give them another chance. Nope, will not be making this mistake again. I will avoid this location at all costs from now on. I ordered ahead on the app and the order was promised at 6:44 and I still had to wait inside for 40 mins. There were 2 people in line, and a couple of other people standing around waiting for food that was ordered ahead. They got someone else's order wrong and had to fix that too. This is a great option for a delicious, healthy lunch. I had the verde shrimp enchiladas with black beans and rice, and my husband had a shrimp burrito. Both were flavorful, especially when dipped in some of the free salsas (my favorite were the tomatillo and the mild versions when mixed together with the chopped cilantro/onion mix). Service is quick and friendly, and the food is extremely reasonably priced, especially considering the fact that you're eating Mexican seafood. I also love the fact that they list calorie counts on the menu - it makes eating healthier a lot easier. This is one of the best lunch spots in the Capitol area. Since I moved to Phoenix via Arkansas and Chicago, I have *LOVED* Rubios. I think there at the beginning of my life in Phoenix maybe five years ago there was a week where I ate Rubio's every night for dinner and maybe a few times for lunch too LOL. And this location has taken the ever-loved concept to a new level. There is not a better place for this hot spot ... and although I was scared about parking I plowed into the parking lot certain I would find somewhere to squeeze my Civic so I could get that gourmet taco plate. Voilà... Complimentary valet parking! Hell yes. Today was the training day however I would not have known otherwise. I love the new design and updates they have made to the flow of the restaurant. I could give them 10 stars out of 5! I really do love it that much and the customer service was top notch and then some. I cannot wait to frequent this location with family and friends in the future, and the I'm sure dozens of times I will eat there alone since I live around the corner. YESSSS! Checked out the new location this week. We enjoyed amazing entrees, cold beers, sangria and dessert samples while receiving amazing service. Jamar was attentive and friendly, ensuring we had everything we needed to have an amazing meal and really impressing our guests that had never been to Rubios. I ordered the classic shrimp burrito with extra white chipotle sauce (amazing). My husband had a steak burrito and my friend ordered the taco plate with one shrimp and one fish taco. Dined at this location for the 1st time today for lunch. 1) Loved the layout inside and the abundance of available parking in the plaza. 2) Food is great as expected, full of flavor. Love the unlimited salsa bar 3) The staff were great. Attentive, friendly, and quick. 4) Despite their lunch rush, food came out quicker than expected The only reason why I did not give them a 5 is because I noticed on my receipt I was charged incorrectly. Partly my fault for not looking at it before leaving so that they have an opportunity to fix it. Though still, I didn't expect to have to do it as I ordered my usual order (dined at the Arcadia location numerous times before) and never had an issue. First and last time I order food from any Rubio's. Our office decided to order from here today and everything was incorrect. Your probably thinking why not go back? We can't because were at work and we all placed our orders online. We ordered 2 steak burritos, 1 chicken burrito with no guacamole and shrimp tacos. We got 2 chicken burritos, 1 steak with guacamole burrito, but the shrimp tacos were right. PAY ATTENTION WHEN MAKING THE FOOD!
