Checked out the new location this week. We enjoyed amazing entrees, cold beers, sangria and dessert samples while receiving amazing service. Jamar was attentive and friendly, ensuring we had everything we needed to have an amazing meal and really impressing our guests that had never been to Rubios. I ordered the classic shrimp burrito with extra white chipotle sauce (amazing). My husband had a steak burrito and my friend ordered the taco plate with one shrimp and one fish taco. Everything we tried was delicious and consistent with other times I have been to Rubios. I will be back for sure! read more

Dined at this location for the 1st time today for lunch. 1) Loved the layout inside and the abundance of available parking in the plaza. 2) Food is great as expected, full of flavor. Love the unlimited salsa bar 3) The staff were great. Attentive, friendly, and quick. 4) Despite their lunch rush, food came out quicker than expected The only reason why I did not give them a 5 is because I noticed on my receipt I was charged incorrectly. Partly my fault for not looking at it before leaving so that they have an opportunity to fix it. Though still, I didn't expect to have to do it as I ordered my usual order (dined at the Arcadia location numerous times before) and never had an issue. First and last time I order food from any Rubio's. Our office decided to order from here today and everything was incorrect. Your probably thinking why not go back? We can't because were at work and we all placed our orders online. We ordered 2 steak burritos, 1 chicken burrito with no guacamole and shrimp tacos. We got 2 chicken burritos, 1 steak with guacamole burrito, but the shrimp tacos were right. PAY ATTENTION WHEN MAKING THE FOOD! How hard can it be to read and tell the difference between steak and chicken. Also, the chips were so stale we ended up tossing them out. read more

Rubio's has upped its game! This Rubio's location has a nice atmosphere, not what you typically expect from fast casual food. The prices are decent, the service was friendly, the salsa bar was vast (ok....not vast.....but bigger than most). I got a massive burrito for under ten dollars that not only was tasty the night I ate it, but was equally tasty the next day when I took my leftover half for lunch. Nice job Rubio's! read more

I really wanted to like this place but they fell short of my expectations. I had the classic steak taco plate with a side of greens and added a shrimp taco a la cart. The food came quickly but the greens had a bunch of rotten bits in it. The steak taco was just ok but the tortilla was cold. My shrimp taco was awesome and had a little bit of a bite to it. I may give them another try but it's not tops on my list. read more

Ordered pick up and the food was made fresh. Only waited a few mins after getting to the restaurant. Everyone was nice except when I asked for a extra small side of white sauce for the fish tacos. The gal seemed irritated that I asked and said "that costs extra". I said that's fine and she was not pleased, maybe she thought I would say never mind after she told me it would cost me. She filled the small cup only half way then made me wait until the register opened up to pay even though there was another one free. Look, I don't care about the $0.54.... just be nice and speak to customers respectfully. All in all the food was amazing, I didn't realize how much I missed their fish tacos. I was pissed though as I ordered 5 meals with 2 tacos in each, enough for the whole family. Then I got a half small container of the sauce and was charged. Not the best service which is why I give it 3 stars. My kids like extra white sauce and they were gonna get it, even if it cost me. If it weren't for that the food was 5 stars for sure. read more

I have always loved Rubio's. One of my favorites!!! However we moved right next to the downtown location on McDowell and 7th and there is a server there named GLENDA that is just the rudest server. We have been twice while she is working and she is terrible. Rolls her eyes at you. Had a terrible attitude. We can't stand going there when she is working. She definitely hates her job. It's obvious. We will call ahead now to see if she's working to avoid her. Very unfortunate!!! read more

This place is always clean and I'm sorry that I always come in twenty minutes before you guys close. I usually stop by here right before I go to the wonderful, Sidebar. I usually stick with their original fish tacos. The fish is so crispy and everything just melds together. Nothing is too overpowering. I like the special on Fridays going on right now with two original tacos for $6. Always a deal going on here. I have tried the burrito version of this taco. Also very tasty. Mediocre Mexican at inflated prices served in an "upscale fast food" restaurant. It's not bad food, but it's also $12 for a burrito. Rubio's might be the best Mexican food in, say, Anaheim New York or Gizmo Wisconsin. But this is Phoenix. This is the Mexican food capital of the United States. We have better and more plentiful Mexican food in Phoenix than some places in Mexico. So why in God's name are people coming here? You can drive West or East less than a mile and hit 5 great authentic Mexican restaurants, and they'll serve up a burrito in the same time for half the price. They may not have a recently remodeled restaurant, a clean bathroom, or fish on the menu, but they'll bring a solid food game nevertheless. I don't know. I wasn't expecting much out of Rubio's but I'm always down to try new fish tacos. The place was dead when we walked in, very sterile.. Chipotle's older uncle with no personality. The salsa bar was the saving grace, lots of options in varying degrees of heat. I was surprised on the price point for an order at the counter joint, it wasn't cheap. They also charged for chips and salsa. WHAAATT!!!! All in all it was pretty good. I got the coastal grill, shrimp, fried fish and ono taco. Not too shabby. I'm not sure why there are so many bad reviews about the customer service. I go here all the time, and the employees are super friendly. I get the blackened mahi-mahi California bowl, and it's so good every time from this location. One time they gave us salmon when we asked for mahi-mahi, but that was only one mixup out of the millions of times we've ordered from here. I work near the Rubio's in Goodyear, and it's disgusting. So I use to come to Rubio's all the time. It was always so-so or ok. When I heard of the Coastal Grill, I was extremely curious. It's been about two years and let me tell you it has definitely improved. This specific location is perfect! It's downtown in a great little area with valet parking. There is outside seating and its a good size on the inside. I eat here often and the service and food have become a disaster. Every order takes 20+ minutes because they don't have anyone dedicated to handling online orders. So in-store customers stand around while all the employees work on filling online orders and eventually get to the in-person customers. Today - both line cooks were wearing masks - but NEITHER over their noses. Not sure what the point of that is? They require face coverings for customers but let those making your food breathe right on it. Today I ordered a shrimp taco with mexican street corn and a california bowl with chicken, to go. Got home to find the corn tortilla's were a bowl of grease with "toasted" cheese - heart attack in a tortilla. The California bowl was all rice - literally 3 squares of chicken. Not good. My boyfriend and I have loved Rubio's for a long time now and today we were really looking forward to enjoying our food there. We chose to go to this specific location because it was the closest to us at the time. We were VERY disappointed with our entire experience here. The wait to order our food took forever because the cashier was on the phone the whole time; and then the wait to get our food was also way longer than normal. Due to this, my boyfriend went to the front counter to see if our food was close to being done and he saw that our food was just sitting on the kitchen counter and no one was bringing it out to us. About another 5 minutes of it just sitting there passes by and someone finally brought us our food. When we got our food, my tortillas of my tacos were stale and both the guacamole on my tacos and my quesadilla was browning (probably from our food sitting out for so long before we received it). My quesadilla was also very soggy from the sour cream sitting on it for so long before receiving my food. Needless to say, we won't be returning to this location. read more

Rude & unprofessional. I ordered through postmastes, & half of my order was missing. I called & they transfers me to the manager who showed zero sympathy, just blamed it on the postmates. Luckily I don't live far. Employee sitting on top of counter on his phone when I walked in to pick up the part of my order that was missing in the delivery. No simple "hi how are you doing" when I walked in, barely looked up from his phone while asking me "can I help you" Food is good, but service at this location SUCKS. *edit* Nvm about the food being good.. it usually is but this time unfortunately it was not. I did place a 2 go order for 5 people and realize they did miss one of the order after going to home, I called them immediately and I was being told that the restaurant is closed and I can come grab my meal next day, when i was asked about if I am getting a free meal and the order it was missed they were keep saying free meal for the one that they messed. I was really craving fish but all of the fish places around here are really expensive. Rubio's is a great place to get affordable, fresh fish. I got the Mexican street corn bowl with blackened mahi-mahi. It was really high quality and had outstanding flavor. I was so impressed with how clean it was in the restaurant and with the substantial portion of fish they gave. I've been to other locations many times in the past but only got the fish tacos. The bowl was outstanding and I loved how they gave the salsas for you, instead of their old style of buffet salsas. This was more hygienic and still just as great! read more

Good service and Better food. When it comes to seafood I won't cheap out or get anything from a fast food place or the like. I got the Ancho shrimp burrito that comes with guacamole and rice, beans and Ect. Delicious , the shrimp tasted great and it was REAL shrimp, not of those fake microscopic shrimps u can't even taste. Rubios is one my favorites of all time. I had the shrimp verde 2 taco plate w/ mashed pinto beans and chips. Got the roasted red and the green salsa. 1st time eating shrimp and it was excellent. These tacos are just as good or better than Rocky Point. Now the chips need work. I find them alittle thick and in need of salt. I'm also not a fan of their guac. But I still love this place. This is the worst rubios I have ever been to with awful management. While I was there for a short period of time and the restaurant was not busy 3 people had their meals/orders messed up and the food I got was poorly cooked. My black beans were burnt to a crisp. Never coming back here again and I advise others go to a better location. read more
