My husband brought me here during one of our days out. This place has an old timey feel which is charming, not dated. We were immediately greeted upon entering, which is always nice. When asked us to speak to a manager, the managers excuse for his disrespectful employees was that they are busy. That is no excuse to throw food at somebody. I love that even during lunch on a weekday the line moves quickly, and that prices are comparatively reasonable for downtown. I ordered the Tuna Salad Sandwich, "100% Albacore tuna with Swiss cheese toasted and then topped with fresh lettuce and tomato on multigrain" ($5.50). You can add extra items like onions and peppers. I also ordered an Oreo milkshake ($3.55). They have soups and cookies too. Service was very patient and friendly and my sandwich was tasty! But the milkshake was too thin. They do have malts, so I'll opt for that instead next time, they tend to be thicker. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Inside it's very cute, like you're transported into the late 40's. The coupon had clear language on it that was labeled "from our lawyer" as a joke, but honestly this person was the only joke in the sandwich shop. First time visiting a Potbelly and my office is Phoenix appreciates a good meal. The staff had the opportunity to choose the meal and everyone decided on Potbelly. The food here is very original, fresh and the portions are very good. The menu here offers a very good variety of sandwiches, wraps and believe it or not, Milk Shakes. As I get ready to head back to California it was interesting to visit some regional places in Phoenix that included Culver's (expensive and not a good value), Whataburger, Potbelly and a great Italian deli DelFalco's. I ordered from this location from work on our group lunches. Every time we have a lunch meeting, which is at least once a month and it's always been perfect. The sandwiches are build exactly how you recommend and everything that you order is included but if this location is the one nearest to you. I would recommend to order online and not go in person because it seems like catering and online orders take priority over walk-in customers and I am quoting the manager exactly quote catering orders take priority. they never have broccoli cheddar soup. Even though they have twenty cups poured in front of them but they are for the "online order" I even saw door-dashers get told that if their orders have soup to mention to their customers that they ran out. I am always a little hesitant ordering tuna out but was pleasantly surprised at the freshness of this sandwich. Update: Customer service commented below and told me to reach out, but they never followed up after I did. I order from here often because they have great sandwiches however almost every time there is a problem. It's either that it's not ready on time or the staff is disgruntled. The main manager (who's worked there for a while) is really nice but the shift supervisors are always rude. Not just subtly rude but go out of their way to be rude. It was 2:53PM on Sunday October 8th when my order was picked up. I ordered a chicken cheddar sandwich. Got there and they were finishing it up. I ordered a cookie because potbelly sent me a free one for my birthday. It wasn't in the bag so I went to grab it. The one on top didn't look that good so I kinda skimmed through them and she aggressively said "they are all made today." I just shrugged it off as I am used to them being rude at this point. I continued to look through them and this set her off. "Don't touch them all, you wouldn't like it if someone touched your food" I told her that I didn't want that cookie and I'd take the one I liked. Keep in mind these are prepackaged and set on the counter just like everything else. So you pick out the things you want. Chips, cookies, other things. They even have the cups out for the guest to pick up. It's like a grocery store so idk why it caused her to have such a spiral into frustration. Even the other young lady working there got wide eyed and like woah. I hope moving forward they can cheer up a little bit and remember that they chose a career working with people and that if they don't want someone touching prepackaged goods they can put the the order together themselves opposed to having us do it. For reference, the manager I am talking about was shorter with glasses. I will say that when things are right, it's pretty good. Again, everyone else is nice but the two female shift supervisors are extremely rude and inpatient. They are also never helpful when we call to report the missing items and dance around the error rather than committing to making it right, right away. Potbelly offers all the favorites, turkey, ham, meatball, italian mixed,by chicken and cheddar, tuna, chicken, and my favorite "the wreck". Potbelly also serves chili, soups, shakes and smoothies. Potbelly aslo serves "skinny" sandwiches with less meat for those watching their calorie intake. The staff is friendly and accommodating and will offer suggestions if you like. Every time I try to order I continue to get placed on hold and when I FINALLY got someone on the phone before putting me on hold once again I let them know I had been calling and getting placed on hold for at least 15 minutes and the lady who has been answering the phone and placing me on hold said "we can't take phone orders" OKAY THEN WHY DID YOU CONTINUE TO PUT ME ON HOLD AFTER I SAID I NEEDED TO PLACE A TO GO ORDER. She said I'd have to make an online order, which I was in the process of doing, but I was stuck on the "submitting order" page and I let her know I just need to know if the order had been placed and she said "I can't help you navigate the online page" okay well I didn't ask you to do that. I asked to see if my order ever went through and then she said "let me check" and placed me on hold AGAIN. What the fuck is wrong with this employee? Currently still on hold for the last 15 minutes. I like Potbelly's sandwiches, and I realize that they can't do much about the parking situation for the complex, but low quality service can really put a bad taste in your mouth. I've been coming here for years, getting group orders for my office all the time, and let me tell you how frustrating it is when you can't complain to the manager about how badly you've been treated at the register or over the phone, because the manager does both. Having gotten lunch for my office for years, I've had a lot of times when they've gotten orders wrong. Every now and then is no big deal, but you can tell when some places are worse than average, and this place is worse than average. If you like potbelly, like I do, go to another location. I wanted to eat with my family and went over to order and was informed if I did not ware a mask they would not serve me inside. Not a problem I will spend my money elsewhere.
