I'm a big Rubios fan and I normally chose not to leave negative reviews. I'm hoping this information will be taken into account before their next orders. We ordered 2 taco meals on-line. I customized my tacos to not include cilantro and onions. We were given a time to pick up the meal. We arrived at the designated time and it was not ready. No problem, we waited. 10 minutes later our meals came out and within 5 minutes we were eating cold tacos?? The tacos I customized with no cilantro and onions had cilantro and onions. I am a regular at the Rubio's franchise, but this was my first time at the Temecula Valley Parkway location. This was by far my favorite. It's a very open and clean dining area. Not too noisy, like these places can be. The staff was very courteous and friendly. Ysabel was extra helpful, making some suggestions of new items I had never trIed before. Taking time to help me, all between running to answer the phone and restock the salsa bar. The food was fresh, well presented and tasty. This wasn't a fast food experience at all. Horrible, horrible. Waited 35 mins last night for our order. Ordered at the restaurant, 2 meals and a kid meal. Not enough staff in the kitchen One big man working In kitchen with no gloves using his hands to get food and prepare orders and throwing it in the food containers. Everyone else had gloves. Not impressed. They used to be good it seems they are scattered now. The guy working the front was getting upset at everyone there and getting aggressive infront of customers. Rubios used to be one of my favorites. Over the last couple of years their food has gone downhill. Very inconsistent. Today was the last straw. The service was very slow, the tables were dirty. This place has only 3 stars on yelp... I'd give it an honest overall 2. But, for my experience tonight, I give them the lowest rating--1 star. Went in tonight (July 1, 2022). Ordered for pickup by app 1 hour ahead--pick up time 7:45 pm. Got there about 10 minutes early..not ready...no problem. I'll wait patiently. Five minutes after order was supposed to be ready (7:50), I made an inquiry. This bushy brown curly haired dude (can't miss him, who BTW was busy flirting with the cashier the whole time) tells me it'll be another 15-20 minutes. Not happy, but ok. Twenty minutes later, I'm still sitting there watching as a bunch of workers behind the counter are just talking and socializing like a bunch of high schoolers with no sense of urgency whatsoever. Meanwhile, I overhear others (2 gentlemen) in the restaurant talking about the wait. They were told 30 minutes from the time the order was placed. As they were discussing it, the one gentleman said, I'm not going to wait 30 minutes.. That's too long. Let's go somewhere else. They leave. At one point, about 15 minutes after my first encounter with bushy brown curly, he made eye contact with me. But, instead of saying... Hey Bud, haven't forgot you.. He just looked away and ignored me. Around that same time, another bushy brown curly headed kid walks up to the counter (had to be brothers cause the hair was identical... (YES, OWNER YOUR CUSTOMERS NOTICE THINGS LIKE THIS when they're waiting 30 minutes for fast food) picks up an order at the counter. He accidentally drops the food on the floor and starts laughing along with his twin behind the counter. Twin throws him a blue towel. While he cleaned up his own mess, his friend/twin worked on getting him a replacement order. To hell with the other customers. Let me hook up my Bro. Now 8:20, I'd finally had enough. I asked how to get a refund. Curly brown couldn't help me... Had absolutely no clue. I asked him for the manager. Curly brown said...aahhh, I don't think she's here. At that moment, a female employee appeared before me. He turned to her and said, can you help him? He wants a refund. I told her my issue and asked for a refund (gotta be honest here...she was at least nice about it). However, if she was the manager, curly brown lied to my face when he said she wasn't there. What fast-food restaurant doesn't have a manger on duty???? Interestingly, as she was working on refunding my money, my food suddenly showed up.... Yep, just like that!! She gave me the food and said they would issue a full refund. Not sure if that actually happened. I'll have to wait and see. I live 3 minutes from this place. We went home and ate right away. Food was so cold as if it had been sitting for an hour.. Literally...no kidding... not even warm in the slightest. Cold! Makes me wonder if it was sitting there the entire time... Such a disorganized place... So, here's what happens. I leave this place madder than hell. Come home and eat cold soggy food and get even madder. I then spend time writing a review that will probably not impact the "restaurant" even remotely as much as it has screwed up my Friday night. But, here's the kicker. I'm not going to pay $30 for 5 tacos and some chips and get this kind of service ever again. This is how places like this slowly get so many bad reviews that they finally just end up closing. And, this (my review) is my contribution to that. You don't deserve the good business from hard working Temecula residents who try to support local businesses. If the owner truly cared, he/she would FIRE curly brown and his flirty girlfriend, write me an apology that states he fired them and invite me back for a free HOT meal. I'm going to Chik-fil-A next time I want fast food. The employees there are trained to at least pretend that they care about customers. Wake up owner. Your "employees" are sinking your business. We came here last night after a long & tired day for a quick bite to eat plus we wanted to use the promotional deal they sent us in the mail for a Buy one get one. Not entirely sure if the register glitched out on us but the lady charged us for an extra burrito, which we did get taken care of before we left. BUT Not until we got home we realized the promotional offer was never applied to our invoice, not to be stingy or anything but they definitely dropped the ball. Usually Rubios is a great go to for a good meal. Today was terrible. I know there are restrictions but this was a waste of time and money. I ordered online for 5:30 and once I got there was told it would be 6. Then 6 came and they said 6:30. Seriously? They have my phone number and email. Just went to Rubio's in South Temecula. Wow...it took nearly 30 minutes to get a roasted vegetable salad with side of chicken. They started preparing it 25 minutes after I ordered (only because my husband went to check on the status). Okay...this is supposed to be a roasted vegetables salad and had only onw tiny square of red pepper and a small wedge of roasted corn. When I inquired the response was hat they cut down on the vegetable portion! REALLY that wasn't just cut back, but cut out completely. They ended up giving me a side of vegetables to add to my salad...with an attitude of course. WILL NEVER COME HERE AGAIN!! read more

Sadly, since 2011, Rubios has taken a significant turn down-hill. The atmosphere now looks like it's been designed by apple computers, and the food (other than their taco tuesday fish tacos) has gone pretty bland. My once-favorite health-mex chicken burrito is now like 75% rice, and has almost no flavor. It takes double the chopotle salsa to wake it up to be edible. I ordered two fish tacos and a shrimp burrito. While all were hot they barely had any sauce. The fish tacos each had a tiny dab of salsa and a tiny dab of white sauce resulting in dry fish tacos. The shrimp burrito I have yet to find any chipotle white sauce in. When my husband asked for extra sides of white sauce he was informed they now charge extra for any sides. Ok. So let me get this straight. You are going to nickel and dime people for an extra side of white sauce and then not even put a decent amount on the taco and burrito that is supposed to have that ingredient in it? WOW. This place used to serve hot and fresh food with generous portions and now each time I order I barely get any sauces in the food and sometimes get a lukewarm taco with a hard corn tortilla. Customer service here is great! I usually place a phone order and get great customer service every time. My order is always correct and taken care of as soon as I walk up to the front to pick it up. The only thing I noticed is that their salsa is slightly different than everyone else's. I believe they follow the same recipe at every location but for some reason the salsa here is slightly different than everyone else's. It's not bad! Just different. So another 10 minutes later we go to the counter, where they're dumbfounded and have no idea that order was even missing. We have chicken we'll make it right now. There was a very crazy situation tonight. Without enough employees and an emergency medical situation, there was a lot of confusion with orders and of course, longer waits. I was very impressed with how calmly the staff handled the situation and thought Kristen remained calm and collected throughout the whole process. We have recently moved from Colorado to Temecula and after searching for a local place to provide healthy, good food, we found Rubios. I have to say I was not to much looking into a chain as I mostly steer away from them. I am very happy to say we stop in about once a week to get a break from cooking at home and can get the same quality and flavor we desire for an affordable price. I look to bringing friends and guests that come on out to Rubios for a nice treat and good wholesome food!
