Great place to grab a frozen drink and watch the Friday night fireworks in the summer. Tons of fried food options which is not my thing, but I come for the good vibes and to get away from the bustling boardwalk.

If you're more into keeping it classic, they also offer original prepackaged ice cream treats for just $5 each

I would honesty say Coney Island has went up on prices. For drinks it's nearly $20 and let's not speak of food prices. I order a piña colada and nachos. It was 7/10 Great service Many outside seating available and the view of the amazing beach.

Trying time make it to my Yelp Event At Spa Castle, not to sure it's going to happen. Ruby's on the boardwalk in Coney Island been here forever. Check out my pics.

I ordered a personal pizza and it tasted like straight up plastic, that was $9.01 wasted. My friend ordered fish and chips, and the fries tasted like they were frozen, which I don't blame them, but they were over fried. ALSO, my friend found A HAIRRRR in her fried fish, DISGUSTING! That was $15.87 WASTED AS WELL. MIGHT I ADD, my friend ordered Piña Coladas from the bar, and they didn't even ask her for her ID, they didn't put alcohol in her Piña Coladas. One small cup for a Piña Colada was $13. LASTLY, the service was very slow, I waited about 30 minutes for my food, and they didn't even use the speaker, so how could I hear them? The ambience is decent, but I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE, unless you want to waste your money.

Never actually been here even though I walk down to the pier all the time, but this time, after watching the fireworks, I just had a case of the munchies and was gearing for something small to nom on. I figured what the hell, wondered in here and ordered the crab cake sandwich (crab cake on bun) and it's a small fried crabcake patty with onion(cut a lil too thick) and lettuce on a bun. Service was nice and pretty quick all around despite it being the busy summertime on the pier. Definitely a little smaller than I thought and definitely didn't expect it to be fried but honestly, the taste of the crabcake itself was very good. It was unmistakenly genuine crab meat and had that murky, slightly earthy flavor you get with crab innards that's kind of hard to find in crab cakes. Overall, quite enjoyed it and might come back for this.

It was my 1st time to Coney Island this summer and my husband and I wanted a distinctly Coney Island eating experience. As we don't eat hot dogs (and weren't about to wait in the long Nathan's lines anyway), we were attracted to Ruby's instead. Frozen margaritas? Check. A full bar in fact. Decent selection of food beyond pizza and hot dogs and nachos? Check. I got a crab cake sandwich and my husband got a turkey burger. I also decided to get cheese fries because that was my Nathan's order in middle school when I would go to the one in my mall's food court. They were nice and crispy. FYI cheese fries are not on the menu but you can ask to add cheese on your fries for like $1. They use nacho cheese. Good prices? Check. My bill was less than $30 and that's a win to me in a touristy place. Nice bartenders? Check. They were friendly and attentive. My only qualm with Ruby's was the actual ordering experience. It was a little messy. People were just gathering near the counter and not really forming a line so it was hard to tell who was next. And the cashiers seemed a little overwhelmed, and weren't doing much to help the situation. These poor french tourists ahead of me were looking particularly perturbed because they weren't being helped, but I guess it's just one of those places where you've gotta be assertive. It was a nice time for us though! Would definitely hang there again.

Frozen Pina Colada and an ocean view. I didn't try the food. It's about the drink and the ocean to me today.

Food was awesome, but the lady that took our order made our experience! I ordered the clam strips and she recommended the shrimp po boy, the food did not disappoint! The women really went above and beyond, I asked for cocktail sauce for the clam strips and the male worker just said "we don't have any" the women heard him, went in the back, came out and said "I'll make some for you." So sweet of her and the cocktail sauce she made really elevated our meal. Thank you for the awesome service. Not all hero's wear capes.

I decided to go to Coney Island. First thing I did was get lunch at Nathan's on Surf Avenue. After that, I was just walking the boardwalk. I actually walked all the way to Brighton Beach. On the way back to Stillwell Avenue, I passed by here. I stopped in. I looked at the beer draft selection and decided on Coney Island Mermaid Lager. I was asked small or large. I paid with a card. I was not asked if I wanted to keep a tab open. The payment was Just processed. When I finished the beer, I ordered another one. Again, I paid with the same credit card.

Overcooked and greasy calamari.... Didn't even offer marinara sauce

$14 dollars for fried calamari.... Overcooked, tough to chew, and extremely greasy. I would look elsewhere, quality is extremely lacking.

Ruby's has to have one of the best spots on the Boardwalk. Tables and chairs to sit at with some cold brews. Plate of fried clams or mozzarella sticks. The cool sea breeze hitting your face. Terrific people watching as the crowds walk by. Nothing high end or pretentious about this place. Plenty of locals, cheap beer, and tasty fried comfort foods that won't break the bank. A Coney Island Boardwalk mainstay.

Great environment with good ambiance with delicious food and awesome service! It's in the middle of little Italy in manhattan but I think you will find yourself transported to Italy itself! We loved it!!

Don't like to write a bad reviews but this one should be said, yesterday I was harassed by the bartender of this place named destiny who also called herself manager which is hard to imagine. After spending some hours on the sun with my good friend that I didn't see for a couple months we decided to go for a beer somewhere cool. Ordered drinks and food from nice bartender, who asked to open a tab we were enjoying our beer and talking while waiting for a food. Same bartender in a few mins asked to close the tab as she were leaving cus her shift was over so I said fine give me receipt. Right after check was on the bar for me to sign another woman approached us in a split second saying "I need a slip right now" looking at me like was about to get a hammer in her hands and break the bar. I said "yes, I know, I'm about to sign it now" at what she repeats that she already said that she needs it now in louder voice with very nasty attitude I was shocked. Clearly, she was staring a fight with me and at the same time was very pressuring. I asked her to give me some space so she can come back in a minute. Even worse reaction starts coming out of her mouth! Now I'm already annoyed that some random idiot yelling at me saying that she is big boss here, like I care, when I just came to hang out and have a good time at the first place. I sign the check just to make her leave, leave a tip, which I shouldn't be even thinking of doing in this situation and our whole great mood is ruined. Me and my friend were speechless The other bartender who was supposed to leave is back to serving the crowd and was there all the time till we left without any rush. Why was it created? The customer at the bar or restaurant is not a child and doesn't need an orders from wait staff, EVER! I worked behind the bar in nyc for over 10 years and know the business from A to Z. Checks can be transferred to other staff so customers don't feel rushed, they come to the place not participate business, they just wanna enjoy what the place sells. And even though when check needs to be closed you don't have to be an asshole and create a drama that I wanna to run away from that place and forget about it like about bad dream. Bartenders like destiny, which is I'm not even sure told me her real name, should be treated at the anger management department at the first place before she steps behind the bar. Desperate behavior is very ugly, and humiliation of customers should be a violation that authorized by law. After this owner of this place came by so I told him about everything, apologies and free round of drinks was offered which is at least smth but you all know that it doesn't cure what was ruined. Even in my worse thirst I won't go to this place anymore!

I was not interested in the puppets, I'd say I'm actually more anti-puppet than not but the show was amazing! I found out there's a whole puppeteering subculture in this city, and there were lots of performances I wouldn't have even considered to fall into that genre. The staff were all great, really welcoming and engaging. The manager Patrick as well as the MC of the show were so well versed in both Coney Island, sideshow, and general pop-culture history. And the band put on one hell of a show, they do creepy noir/murder ballads that draw inspiration from Tim Burton and other dark artists. The bar has a museum and gift shop and runs events most weekends (magic shows, fundraisers, burlesque, etc.). Unlike the rides, Freak Bar stays open every weekend into the winter. $6 Coronas. Come out, it's fun!

What is a very cool historic spot could be an insane hangout if it wasn't for the sauntering a**hole pissing on a good time. I went in with a friend of mine and we are both huge Coney Island regulars. Her more than me. She's been past the place a million times and they're never open. She asks him about this in a friendly way, saying we love the spot and we've been dying to come in. His response is super snide, and the he pulls out his phone and shoves the website in her face as if we didnt think to look them up. We tried twice to talk to the guy and both times he was extremely condescending and unfriendly. Then he went behind the bar and proceeded to complain about us out loud, 18 inches away as if we couldn't hear. just for trying to have a conversation? We weren't drunk or belligerent, just trying to tell him we like the spot. Guy seems totally uninterested in what it means to own or run a bar, much less a cool ass spot like this. If you go on a night (whenever they feel like being open for business--better check the website!!!!!) when Patrick isn't there and it's just the bartender Jamie-- he is super cool kind and a great time. Wish I got time to or felt welcome to exploring the place. Hope it goes under new ownership or I won't be back to try again. cheers.

The vibe of the place was great, nice music playing and tables to sit at. The people were kind, I think the girl taking our order was new because she was asking her coworker about how to open up the cash register and stuff, but she did a great job! I had leftovers of the chicken tenders and I ate them the next day. Sadly, I did throw them up but I don't think it had anything to do with the food or quality of it, I was motion sick and had already been looking at my phone for a while (don't worry I wasn't driving.) I prefer what they call a "knife and fork job" where the sandwich, the meat the bread is all dunked and comes out in a river of au jus. They make amazing sides, I typically go for the onion rings and corn fritters which are tasty, fried nugget of sweet corn and they are delicious. We both went with rare roast beef, cheese and onions. T asked for his double-dipped in gravy. Yum! Short of five stars, but yum nonetheless. We ordered two unhealthy sides which added to the decadence of our lunch: corn fritters and onion rings. If you only get one, go with the fritters. The place is busy. The cashier informed me that I could not order through her, yet there was no visible signage indicating where customers were supposed to order. For a business operating in a busy beach environment, clear direction and customer flow are essential, and that aspect was noticeably lacking. The seating situation was equally puzzling. After receiving my food, I noticed many people occupying the tables while eating food from completely different establishments. Throughout my visit, groups carrying various meals from around the beach sat freely without being informed otherwise. This gave the impression that the seating area functions more as a public beach dining space than as seating reserved for paying customers. Management may want to evaluate this arrangement, as it can diminish the experience for patrons who purchased food from the restaurant. As for the food itself, the sandwich was undeniably large and offered a generous portion for the price. However, much of the value seemed tied to its size rather than its flavor. The chicken breast was substantial but lacked seasoning and depth of taste. The agua de horchata was even more disappointing, with a flavor that tasted artificial and more reminiscent of a powdered mix than a traditional homemade recipe. Overall, this is not a place that stands out for its atmosphere, food quality, or customer experience. While the portions are impressive, the flavors fail to match the presentation, leaving the impression that you're primarily paying for quantity rather than quality. With improvements to customer service, clearer organization, and more attention to flavor, the experience could be significantly better in the future. Rating: 3/5 stars. Decent portions, but the overall experience and food quality leave plenty of room for improvement.
