    Bacon and Blue burger

I've loved Tom's in Prospect Heights for over a decade. It's a classic diner with heart. A local business for locals. A legendary brunch spot that I'll always love. So when we were out on the boardwalk and in need of some food, Tom's seemed like a good bet. And I'm not sure what the disconnect is between this Tom's and the Tom's I love is, but there is something off. Everything here is just OK. Fine, if all you want is something to fill your stomach. The burger I got (bacon and bleu cheese) was fine, although that was not bleu cheese. The chili dog we got? Fine, I guess. (The buns were bad, however.) The chicken fingers and fries? Fine, although you need some other dipping sauces besides ketchup. The service? Fine, I guess. They didn't seem to care if we were there or not. The space is nondescript, and has none of the charm of the other Tom's. Basically, it's a fine spot if you are in need of a generic meal you could get in Anywhere, USA.

I left this place a 1-star review because my experience was honestly terrible. The customer service was disrespectful from the moment I walked in. Some of the staff started making jokes about me because they thought I was missing a strap on my Crocs, even though I actually had it. It felt immature and unprofessional, especially since customers shouldn't be made fun of for how they look. On top of that, they kept making comments because I wasn't wearing a T-shirt, which made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. Instead of treating customers with respect, the employees seemed more interested in judging people. The food wasn't worth the price either. The hot dogs were way overpriced for what you get, and the restaurant itself looked old and rusty and didn't seem very well maintained Overall, I expected better service and a more welcoming atmosphere. No customer should feel mocked or disrespected while trying to enjoy a meal. That's why I decided to leave a 1-star review and won't be coming back

the food tasted like the bottom of a freezer, soap, and mango boba, the service was terrible. He first spilt soda all over my shorts and then they served other customers before us, even though we got there first. The ambiance looked disgusting. the floors were dirty and a pig farm could be cleaner.

Seating options are limited on Coney Island's Boardwalk. This establishment has seating areas outdoors, indoors, PLUS there's a rooftop dining area. I very much enjoyed my dining experience with the fam. They hooked me up with a red, white and blue slushy drink with double rum. Very very effective. I drank it too fast and suffered the consequences.

You'll be overwhelmed by the prices & underwhelmed by the food. I don't have a lot to say about this spot. It's ... a restaurant, it's off the boardwalk.. they serve food. It's pricey, under seasoned. It serves its "crowded Coney Island boardwalk and we're starving" purpose. Literally every other spot didn't have seating so we just ate here. Pros bc I'm feeling like a Negative Nancy: chicken tenders weren't bad, fries were fries. I don't see them going out of business anytime soon due to convenience. I will say they have lots of indoor and outdoor seating! Service was VERY fast. It's technically food???

Great view of Coney Island boardwalk. My complaint was my broccoli cheddar omelette had too much of the stem not florets and it was was difficult to cut and chew. Flavor was good though. Choices were limited in pancakes to plain or their combined pancakes. If you had allergies or dislikes plain was the option. Their flavored butters though were delicious.

I've been reading about the breakfast at toms (mostly about the Prospect Heights location) for a very long time. It's always listed in Time Out NY as one of the 10 best. The menu is the same at both. Finally got a beautiful morning. Very nice menu of all your standard breakfast choices and fancy pancakes! Got the mango blueberry and walnut ones. Very good! Nice side of bacon and delicious coffee Great service and of course the best location esp when you can eat outside. There's a roof top that's amazing for hot evenings and watching fireworks in summer. I'd go back in a heartbeat!

My daughter checked it out but she didn't have socks to play so she stayed at the table with us. For appetizers, we ordered the dumplings (so cute and delicious), the pancakes and the pizza. The pizza was mediocre. For our entrees I had the shrimp avocado salad and my husband got the gosht burger. Our entrees were really tasty. We also got a side of fries for our daughter which we didn't really have to order. It is a little pricey but look at their location! When we got the bill we were charged $10 for the play place. I asked for it to be removed because my daughter didn't really play there and didn't have socks so our waitress removed it. It's not a big playground area and how long can kids really ply there if they're there for the restaurant? They charge $10 on weekday and $15 on weekends.

The service is impeccable, the wait staff is well versed in the menu and will offer help if you don't know how to truly get the best sandwich that you can. The star here is the roast beef sandwich, it's moist and flavorful and cooked absolutely perfectly. My suggestion is to order it with cheese and have it dunked in the au jus. I prefer what they call a "knife and fork job" where the sandwich, the meat the bread is all dunked and comes out in a river of au jus. They make amazing sides, I typically go for the onion rings and corn fritters which are tasty, fried nugget of sweet corn and they are delicious. Curious about the "famous" Brooklyn roast beef war -- yeah! it's a thing! -- T and I decided to see for ourselves. (Once I try the competition I'll weigh in with my vote.) With a reputation built on beef we ignored other options and researched how to order. You can get double dip, "dingle-dangle" (don't ask), cheese/no cheese ... it was confusing. We both went with rare roast beef, cheese and onions. T asked for his double-dipped in gravy. Yum! Short of five stars, but yum nonetheless. We ordered two unhealthy sides which added to the decadence of our lunch: corn fritters and onion rings. If you only get one, go with the fritters. The place is busy. You'll likely have to wait a bit -- but I found it interesting to watch the guys at the counter work. Service was friendly and attentive. Unlike someone's comment about paying blind -- not so. We were given a check with an accurate breakdown of what we ordered. Prices are posted. And yes -- cash only.

What is a very cool historic spot could be an insane hangout if it wasn't for the sauntering a**hole pissing on a good time. I went in with a friend of mine and we are both huge Coney Island regulars. Her more than me. She's been past the place a million times and they're never open. She asks him about this in a friendly way, saying we love the spot and we've been dying to come in. His response is super snide, and the he pulls out his phone and shoves the website in her face as if we didnt think to look them up. We tried twice to talk to the guy and both times he was extremely condescending and unfriendly. Then he went behind the bar and proceeded to complain about us out loud, 18 inches away as if we couldn't hear. just for trying to have a conversation? We weren't drunk or belligerent, just trying to tell him we like the spot. Guy seems totally uninterested in what it means to own or run a bar, much less a cool ass spot like this. If you go on a night (whenever they feel like being open for business--better check the website!!!!!) when Patrick isn't there and it's just the bartender Jamie-- he is super cool kind and a great time. Wish I got time to or felt welcome to exploring the place. Hope it goes under new ownership or I won't be back to try again. cheers.
