I am only giving 1 star because I have to if I could I would give ZERO. This place is very nasty, the food and I mean all the food was very very old and they were still serving it to customers. I had to go up to the front desk and tell them SEVERAL times that the food was very old and spoiled and then at that point they would come out and put new food out but placing the OLD food on top!! They didn't have enough serving spoons out so people were grabbing food with other serving spoons and I'm HIGHLY allergic to sea food and people were grabbing a spoon that was for sea food and using it for the rice because the rice didn't have a spoon. And the employees watched them and did nothing! The sushi was literally BROWN and all mushed together! The steak was ice cold, not warm, not hot, COLD!! The level of ignorance the staff has is unbelievable. Oh and the table they sat us at was dripping from the ceiling into my families food and hair and when we mentioned it to them they said they are aware but no one came to fix it yet, SO WHY WOULD YOU SIT US THERE?!?! It was very very nasty! I could go on and on about this place!! Bottom line is PLEASE DONT EAT THERE for your own good and health!! i was really surprised at how great this place is. hubby has been wanting to try it, but we usually end up at red robin or maggiano's if we are over in that area... the restaurant itself is really nice, and looked to be immaculately clean. they have the best string beans. lol i know that sounds weird, but that's my number one go to at an asian buffet. they are slightly different than most buffets, they have a sauce on them rather than just oil and garlic, but i enjoyed them. the rice noodles were excellent, i'm always happy to see rice noodles as an option on a buffet bc they are so much less greasy than regular lo mein. fried dumplings were extremely flavorful and actually crispy. black pepper chicken and shrimp was VERY good, even hubby ate the shrimp and he isn't a fan of shrimp most of the time.... the sushi was quality sushi, maybe a little on the basic side, but it was delicious and fresh. i would go for the sushi alone. they even had a veitnamese style grilled pork chop that was REALLY delicious. I didn't try the dim sum, but i think i might next time after seeing some reviews for it here.... we'll definitely be back! read more

this place is ok! For the price I really like their selection and they have lots of sushi - yum! Just make sure you go early lunch or dinner because sometimes the dishes can get a little dry but overall the food is tasty and there is a large selection. I wish they had more dim sum though a lot of the choices are like "amercanized." Things like french fries, pizza, chicken wings, ribs, etc. if they had more authentic dumplings, hargao, shumai i would give a solid 4 for value. It was...okay. Actually, it was a disappointment. The raw fish was sour. Terribly so, it didn't taste fresh. My husband thought the food had little to no flavor. He said "The best part is the soda." The crab legs were so tiny. I liked their other food choices but I couldn't get the sour fish taste out of my mouth. The ice cream was great though, I also really liked their fruit. It was a lot better the first time I went with my in laws. We were in and out within 45 mins. Such a shame. read more

I'd give it a notch below the Philly's Ruby Buffet. I would not even eat the sushi here with my eyes closed. The selections are pretty much the same with the other Ruby, but some of the seafood items are hit or miss, and some other items are on the greasier side. For the price tho, I guess it's pretty good considering all the things you could get. Service isn't the quickest during peak dinner hours. You have to wait every 20 mins at the Buffet for the "hope" of getting 2 crab legs when the server puts out 1 lb in the tray. 3. Majority of food is greasy, canned fruit, frozen products (pizza, dumplings, corn, etc) 4. A lot of stuff have little to no flavor and much of what is suppose to be fresh, isn't (i.e. Avocado is brown from sitting out for away). Clam and oysters look dicey, so I didn't try it . 5. And do not come for the crab legs, they are not fresh, broken pieces, and they only put a small amount ( about two servings) out let's say every 30 minutes. I'm torn. I mean, I love cheap eats, especially when it's AYCE, and Ruby Buffet has all the standard cheap fare that you would expect at any Chinese buffet - Fried rice, Fried egg rolls, Fried chicken French fries, Fried doughnuts with sugar....you get the point. The couple of bonuses you get are the crawfish (definitely a grab bag) and the snow crab legs. Unfortunately, the huge downside is that everybody has to wait in line in order to get a few clusters of crab legs because they stagger the distribution so that they don't go bankrupt since they would never be able to keep up with the demand anyways. This serves as a minor annoyance especially when you have people who have been waiting patiently in line subsequently take a gigantic plateful and you sigh as you stare into a murky bin of salt water devoid of actual crab. Oh well, 10 more minutes and it'll be your turn so just wait and snack on some french fries while you wait in line. The staff is super efficient, but not the friendliest. It's all right though, you came here to eat, not chit-chat. Get water and satisfy that thirst and wash down that crab with some crisp slices of watermelon. I wish I could give zero stars to this review. Words that come to mind to describe Ruby Buffet in Cherry Hill are as follows: Disgusting FILTHY! Mediocre (at best) Ghetto Messy to mention only a few. What used to be a a buffet that I wasn't embarrassed to be seen coming out of has now become exactly that. The last time John and I went there we said it would be our last time. This time it's for real. For real, for real. When RB first opened, it was clean and the food was the best I ever had at a buffet but now...I can't even describe how dirty the carpet is and if they allow your first impression to be this bad, how much can they possibly care about what they're doing in the kitchen? Every sauce in their arsenal is watered down and flavorless. And the meats in their Chinese dishes...please don't tell me what it is! I see no stray cats around the place and I can only imagine where they've ended up. How do they make flavorless desserts? That's freakin' magic! Should I even comment on the people who patronize the place? Nah, you live in New Jersey so you already know about rude and ignorant people. Tonight, though was a highlight! I got to see obey of my COWORKERS snag something off the tray and eat it with both hands while she stood beside the buffet. Can't wait to get to work on Monday! Don't get me wrong...it's a great place to go if you're watching your weight because you'll be sh*tting your pants fifteen minutes after you leave and it will go on for days. This is from the other night. For a buffet and the price point this was actually meh. The dishes weren't all bland and "most" were still warm. One of the major points I have discovered is that the quality of buffets can change daily. For this day and moment in time, I enjoyed the experience here. Then went again a couple of days later. I reviewed the Ruby Buffet on Columbus avenue in Philly a few years ago. The location is even better. Think crab legs,stone crabs, salt and pepper shrimp, prime rib, and a wide selection of fruits. My most recent visit they had mangoes, blood oranges, kiwis, cantaloupe, and ripe black cherries. The prime rib is equal to or better than any diner prime rib in the area. I would gladly pay $20.00 for that and two side vegetables. All these people calling the place ghetto, or casting aspersions about the crowd surprises me. If you want elite, go to an upscale restaurant and spend $80.00 per without drinks. On the other hand, these same naysayers probably cant afford it. So sad. Call it like it is and give this fine restaurant the credit it deserves, offering common folk endless seafood and a fine prime rib for $13.00 plus tax. Incredible. read more

Our server was very kind and asked us for refills at least three times.. Always get some type of soda or juice when at a buffet because most places give you tap water when you ask for water. The food was mediocre. Nothing too fancy but for a buffet that's a reasonable price that's something I expected. The salmon on the sushi was not good quality and the soy sauce looked seriously watered down. The sushi itself was good, but not fantastic, also something I expected for the price. I recommend waiting for the chef as he freshly rolls them. They have a nice amount of food.. not too overwhelming like some other buffets. Food was not particularly bad during our time of visit. I found their sushi options better than most buffets in the area. This particular buffet has dumplings for both pork and shrimp, which not many buffets carry. I was also surprised at the selections for their dinner. Crab legs come by fast and their hand cut meats were well cooked. What I did not like here at Ruby buffet was primarily the swiftness of the waitresses services. If anyone at your table even began to start eating dessert, they would immediately drop off your check, forcing you to rush and leave in a hurry. MY TAKE-OUT: (Arbitrarily, as I was heading to fill my boxes, I was additionally told there must be at least 3 different items. Fine.) Now, per the pricing as advertised, I decided to separate my food into two boxes, based on the 'category of pricing' as advertised. Box 1-- 3 vegetable spring rolls, 5 potstickers, 3 pieces of fried wings Box 2 -- fried calamari and couple pieces of pork chops. THE BAIT & SWITCH: Based on Ruby Buffet's bait & switch, made-up pricing, this is how my boxes of food were charged as she explained to me: Box -1--3 vegetable spring rolls and 5 potstickers were charged PER PIECE at 90 cent EACH for a total of $7.20! Mind you, NONE of this pricing is listed ANYWHERE. I came home and weighed these items at 9.1 oz. According to their pricing, since this is neither seafood, duck, or steak, it should be charged at $4.99/lb, or $2.83--NOT $7.20. OVERCHARGED BY154%!!!! The 3 pieces of fried wings were then separately weighed (she took them out of the box!) at $5.99/lb instead of $4.99/lb. How do you calculate fried wings as being the same item as "50% off seafood"?! You don't--this is straight-up fraud. OVERCHARGED BY 25% Box 2--The pork chops were weighed as "seafood, duck, and steak"--so at the highest rate of $7.99/lb. Arguably, the pork chops were not properly included as steak, so that was another 40% overcharge if you disagree with their categorization. OVERCHARGED BY 40% Do the math. You WILL be arbitrarily OVERCHARGED and billed with whatever they MAKE UP OUT OF THIN AIR. read more

Cheap and rude customer service... You go inside and they try to decide where you have to seat even it is a cheap buffet place and not a fine dine seat in restaurant. They try to force us to seat in a table close to the door that blows cold air that my father with heart stent can't tolerate. I tried to tell the guy but he won't listen. If you want cheap Chinese buffet food but absolutely no customer service, go to this place... I am a paying customer not in the mercy of anyone. Inefficient on busy days so call beforehand to reserve. Also they don't know what club soda or seltzer is so call it water soda. For some reason there were a ton of leaves on the ground because they apparently breezed past all the people through the small entrance. Love this place. It is clean the service is great. Food is great. Only problem I have with it is that I'm allergic to shellfish so I pretty much have to read everything and watch for cross contamination. But the Hot and sour soup and the won ton soup are good, taste like home made not like the stuff you buy in the take out's. I travel back and forth up the highway and ruby buffet is one of my usual stops and no freaking lie when I say the ignorant ass patrons not only hover over the crabs, they literally pile multiple plates with dozens of crabs clearing out the whole crab bin as soon as there placed in the buffet- leaving the rest of the patrons empty handed. It's fucking rude and I've seen people do it over and over with no consideration of the other patrons who are waiting for crab. It's a buffet people- take 2 or 3 and go sit the fuck down- leave some for the rest of us to share in!!! I actually enjoyed myself here. Weekday lunch, not very busy. Favorite items were grilled chicken, coconut chicken (better chunks of meat than the standard chinese place), and vegetable mai fun noodles. Everything was actually pretty good, like when you get a win at a non-assuming Chinese take-out place. It's no han dynasty, but I'd totally go back here. The sushi was not my favorite, but i ate it and i feel fine. I actually feel great, but stopped myself from over- eating. The fruit was fresh, though some things liked under-ripe. If I wasn't going back to work, I would have gotten thirds, would go back fornthe things mentioned above, and maybe tried the shrimp cocktail or crawfish. read more
