The burger is one of the best I've had with a grilled brioche bun that is slightly crunchy on the bottom but so spongy and chewy on top. It perfectly complements the perfectly cooked wagyu patty. The chicken and waffles is almost too much to eat in 1 sitting. They also don't drown it in syrup. They drizzle just enough to flavor it but not drown it and make the waffle soggy. But the best thing is the tempura onion rings. They are huge and super crunchy but not greasy. I love them the best. Their fries aren't bad either and I hardly eat carbs. Parking is easy enough a block or so away, but finding a close spot is usually hit or miss on Myrtle due to how many restaurants are concentrated in a five block space. I went alone for a quick lunch. Service was exceptionally friendly and generally attentive, though it was a bit of a drag getting my bill settled as the lone server kept getting distracted by other tables and customers. Well, I got the State burger with no pickles and no thousand island sauce. I added bacon for $2.00 and swapped out the potato chips for fries for $1.50. It's happy hour all day until dinner, so the burger was discounted from $16 to $12, which is a good deal. The burger tasted great. The fries were good. The freshness of the lettuce and tomato on the burger actually stood out. I never realized how often you get slightly wilting lettuce at other places until I bit into this super fresh, crisp lettuce. I know that's a weird thing to mention, but it stood out. The only complaint I actually had was the amount of meat used in the burger patty. I think it's very small. They also sell a double smash burger, and I almost felt like this was a smash burger, cause the patty is so thin. It's not, but it's a disappointingly small amount of meat. Still, if you want drinks, it's a lovely looking bar. As I said, service is great. And I will come back for the burger. It's good and cheap, though I would gladly pay five dollars more for more meat. This time the burger was all I tried, but I can recommend. Give it a try for their all afternoon happy hour and the drinks.

I started out with the Coughlin's Law cocktail (Aviation gin, house infused vanilla syrup, fresh lemon, egg white, lavender bitters, $16). It was a good light drink with light vanilla and lemon flavor. I always love a good foam top too. She started out with a Basil Paloma (Herradura silver tequila, muddled basil & grapefruit, fresh grapefruit juice, lime, simple syrup, seltzer, $15). It had good grapefruit and basil flavor, and was nicely balanced. We ordered the buffalo cauliflower appetizer ($14). The cauliflower was supposed to be grilled, but it seemed almost raw. The buffalo sauce definitely had a good kick. For my entrée, I had the Black Angus Basin Burger (manchego cheese, carmelized onions, arugula, special sauce, brioche bun, $19). The burger was excellent. The cheese, carmelized onions, and arugula was a great flavor combo. The fries were good, but I'd order them more crispy next time. She had the two taco plate with fish and potato tacos ($15). The taco shells were freshly fried, and it was a filling plate that she enjoyed. We had one more round of drinks and I had the Billionaire cocktail (Old Forrester 100 proof bourbon, lemon, house made grenadine, absinthe, $16). This was excellent. It was very balanced, and not boozy at all with a very light sweetness. Her second was the Smoke and Fire (Peloton de la Muerte mezcal, Ancho Reyes liqueur, muddled jalapeno & orange, fresh lime, agave, chili salt, $15). It was pretty well balanced with a medium smokiness. It definitely had a kick of heat on the finish. Our server Lakyn was friendly and provided good service. The menu prices are cash prices. There is an extra 3.5% surcharge if you pay with a credit card. The buffalo cauliflower appetizer was mostly a miss, but everything else was very good so I'm rounding up to five stars. They have a very good sized cocktail and food menu, as well as many beers on tap. They also have happy hour specials. We would definitely return if we were in the area again.

They 100% hold down the fort and keep this place running. Food is surprisingly good for a pub where most patrons are focused on drinking. Wings, bulgogi fried rice, zucchini fries and fire chicken rice are some of my favorites. Highly recommend this place! Live music by "Pat O'Brien and the Priests of Love" who we were told is the house band. They were loud but rockin' and groovin'. Very small area in front of the stage where you could dance, if so inclined. DRINKS at night. The bartender was not making cocktails like Apple does during the day. Pretty much beer, shots, and very basic drinks (rum & coke, vodka, cranberry & OJ, etc.). They weren't running tabs at night either, it was pay-as-you-go. We had two bottles of Modelo and two Madras and the total was slightly more for the second round (not sure why) but it was too loud to try and discuss it with the bartender. On street parking, or a small lot in the back, off the alley. After only three visits, I can't say that this place is our regular hangout, but it's become one of our favorite watering holes. See you there.

Perhaps it was the Full Corn Moon. Perhaps it was the restless spirits of The Tongva Indigenous People. I long ago gave up trying to figure out such things. All I know is that at approximately 0230 on Thursday (September 04, 2020), I awoke from a bizarre dream and felt compelled to drive to Monrovia, California (a city which I have never before visited). It did not take me long to figure out why I was in Monrovia. During my visit I took hundreds of photographs, and I spoke with dozens of people of various ethnicity ranging in age from 05 -80, of various backgrounds (including a convicted felon and a current attorney). Meeting those people help to give me hope as this nation continues to spiral towards a possible civil war. Every person was friendly and civil and I had some very interesting conversations regarding the current politics. However, unlike what is the norm now on social media sites, all of my conversations were quite-civil. Once my tapeworm demanded attention, I was happy to see a family-owned restaurant and I stopped by Rudy's Mexican Restaurant. The Staff were all polite and courteous. Rose and Karina, ROCK !!! The Service was prompt. It is not fair to judge The Ambience because of the current coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic. Dining was confined to outside sidewalk tables. That proved to be great as I met many longtime customers and pedestrians passing-by. The Food was outstanding. Prior to my meal, I had Chips and Salsa which were addictive. I have mixed feelings about Rudy's. My first visit was excellent, but this recent experience was a bit disappointing. The free salsa was watery and lacked seasoning. I do not recommend the chicken taquito combination - it tasted stale. The taquitos were extremely dry, and the sides didn't help. The guacamole, rice, and beans lacked distinct flavors. The highlight was the lengua (beef tongue) in chile verde sauce, which was fatty, smoky, and tangy. The staff is friendly and attentive. We were initially seated at a table on a slanted floor, making everything feel tilted. We asked to move to a flatter table but noticed other tables were also slanted. The atmosphere reminded me of an authentic, rustic Mexican restaurant with mariachi music in the background. I started going to Rudy's Mexican Restaurant for the first time a month ago. I had never been there before. I loved the food, it was so good and fresh. From the second we walked in, everybody was really nice and the service was excellent. I had really missed not being able to go to a good Mexican restaurant and I am so glad that by chance, we went to go try it out. Rudy's is pretty cool. We always go there on Fridays and I order the wet burrito with an ice cold beer. Always get consistent good service and it is a family atmosphere. The prices are also reasonable and I've taken my family, friends and even coworkers here to eat over the years. The tacos are also very delicious and they don't mind fixing them my way. It's not the best Mexican food I have ever had but the environment is great. The waiters are great and get you anything you need. The drinks are strong and good. I can go to Rudy's and know what to expect. The food is good. Some dishes are better than others. The steak and shrimp plate is delicious and a favorite of my two young boys. I was greeted upon arrival and aside from a party of 2 seated outside the patio, I was the only other person. My order was taken right away and food came within 15 minutes - which was great. I was warned that my plate would be hot, but I wasn't expecting my eggs to also be BURNING hot. I was a bit taken aback at the temperature of the eggs after I took my first bite. The turkey sausage patty tasted rather bland, even after all the salt & pepper I added. I can honestly say I might just stick with coming here for Happy Hour or Dinner.

It led me straight to Marko's Italian Restaurant. Even though I'd already had dinner (just being a big back, lol), I had to check it out. I was seated right away by a welcoming host and immediately asked what was producing that amazing smell. It was the steak special, so I ordered it medium-rare without hesitation. Despite the restaurant being about 3/4 full, the food arrived quickly. The steak was phenomenal, the brown sauce was rich, and the sautéed vegetables were cooked to perfection. While enjoying my meal, I kept seeing fresh pizzas coming out of the kitchen. Being a big pizza fan, I ordered one to go for leftovers. The crust was flavorful, fresh, and clearly made from scratch. Marko's has definitely won me over as a regular. They have a huge menu with so many other dishes I can't wait to try, so stay tuned for future reviews!

I had the chilaquiles with a perfectly cooked eggs over easy. My husband had the Machaca. We didn't order beverages this time but I have had their fresh juices and can recommend. In general I prefer to support family business over larger chains. This is a great spot to grab good food and enjoy your morning.

I was already in the area and when it was time for dinner I was walking around to see what looked good. I was so excited to see Stinkin Crawfish. It was weird though because I went to the restroom to wash my hands, and when I came back, they gave another group the table they gave me. I picked a different table, but I thought that was odd. After a quick glance at their menu I saw that they had Happy Hour is Monday to Friday from 4 to 6:30pm. It was a bit pass 6pm so I put in a Dozen Oysters (HH $15 | regular $33) while I looked at the rest of the menu. Ugh regret. These were SO BAD!! First off, the majority was not shucked, it was still attacked to the shell. I turned to the table next to me since I saw they had ordered oysters and I asked if theirs were shucked, and they said some were and some weren't. Oh goodness, so inconsistent. Then they also warned me that they got charged regular pricing instead of happy hour pricing. Also they didn't give me any utensils... so I had to go grab a plastic fork myself cause no staff was in sight and I had to scrap these oysters off their shells. First one not good. Second one, I drowned it in marinara sauce, still not good. Third one... SO BAD I SPLIT IT OUT... Fourth one, ALSO BAD. Okay I don't want to get sit... I'm over this... I just set it aside and covered it with one napkin to indicate I'm over it. Honestly they can see there were many untouched if they wanted to ask me how I liked them. Maybe I should have left but I made the mistake of ordering more food. I ordered a Raspberry Iced Tea ($3.75). Can't really mess that up but I want to point out that no refills were offered my whole time there. I did their Build Your Own with 1lb Shrimp ($17.75), 1lb Crawfish ($11 when added on to an order), with the Make it Awesome ($5.75) which is 1 corn, 2 potatoes, 3 sausages all in their Garlic Butter Mild. Okay... garlic... butter... can't go wrong right?? Well I'm wrong wrong wrong. I don't know HOW they managed to serve me the blandest cajun meal of my life. I am beyond baffled. I see the garlic. The color looks like butter. Definitely not mild, more like zero spice and zero seasonings. Even the limes they gave were dried out and bitter. My theory on the bland garlic was that it was prepped and frozen for so long it lost its' flavor. The seafood itself didn't taste fresh either. Bleh. It really needed a better sauce to mask the musky taste. Oh and the sausage was BURNT. Sigh. I think service tried to be nice. They did come and ask if I needed anything else. But honestly I didn't even want the food in front of me, let alone anything else. At the end they provided complimentary dessert to every guest. It was like a deep fried oreo with a scoop of ice cream on the day I went. The dessert was good. Just nothing else. Oh wait for it... when I got the check, I was also overcharged for the oysters, ringing up at $33 instead of the $1.50/oyster HH price being $15. The waitress was surprised and she even expressed how that happened to another customer (I know) previously and she had asked "him", who I assume is a manager or boss, to fix it in the system. Sigh... Apparently he didn't. The portions were fair, the pricing is fair... WHEN THEY RING YOU UP CORRECTLY. it just tastes bad. Low production quality. Maybe they are able to keep these prices by buying low quality product. Regardless I DEFINITELY won't be coming back. This meal, or rather the stuff that was edible, is not worth the calories. I rarely give 1 star reviews but I almost considered it... but no one was mean and I didn't get sick (because I spit up the bad oysters and stopped eating them). This is such a generous 2 stars review for the mess I had to deal with.
