When we decide to go for Thai food, we have a tough time finding anything near us in Sherman Oaks. As a result, when we do go for Thai food, we go to Ruin Pier in Hollywood or Las Vegas. The food is excellent, with good-sized portions and fair prices. It's always crowded here, so we're probably going to wait. The service is very good, and it's just an excellent dining experience. Highly recommend it.
Ambiance - very busy restaurant. Aside from the seated patrons, people kept walking in for take out orders. Service - was very good. Considering how well they manage to serve such a large number of people is quite impressive. We arrived at 10 pm and although they close at 10:45 pm, they did not rush us to order immediately. Our food was served very quickly after we placed our order. Food - we had papaya salad and bbq pork egg noodle soup. As always, their papaya salad dressing was great. I had to ask for more peanuts though because there did not seem to be a lot on the salad. The soup was satisfying. It was served hot and had many slices of delicious pork bbq. Overall, it satisfied our craving for a late night meal. Keep in mind, parking fee is $6.
Thai cuisine in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California... I came here for lunch with Chel many years ago! Did you know that there's a high population of Thai people in Hollywood? The area is called Thai Town! Parking was a bit of a challenge. I parked nearby... because I didn't want to pay to park in the lot... haha! Pad Thai and Pork Satay were yummy!
I initially tried this restaurant almost 5 years ago and the food here is just as solid. In this visit, I came with a group of 5 and our experience here was pretty good. To share, we had the following dishes: -Tom Yum Shrimp Soup: Spicy and sour in a good way. The shrimps were also juicy. -Papaya Salad: Crisp and fresh. -Pad Thai w/ Chicken: Solid and not too sweet. The noodles were cooked well. -Roasted Duck Over Rice: Good, but nothing mind-blowing. I would've loved more of a roasted feel and flavor. -Pad Prik King: A good amount of meat and flavor was good. -Sauteed Morning Glory: Honestly my favorite dish here. I loved the crisp veggies and flavor. -Beef Jerky: Surprisingly not bad. An elevated beef jerky. Everything was solid, but I've had better versions of each dish elsewhere. Nothing stands out, but this is a good standard for Thai food. The service here was really good and attentive. I appreciate the servers taking on all the requests hurled at them from the people in my group. They also helped with a water spillage. Parking can be tough since the area is popular. It's valet parking only in the lot in front of the restaurant, but you can also find some free spots around the area if you don't mind walking.
Came by during Thai New Year during the festival, so understandably, huge line as a result. We waited about 1.5 hrs but I imagine on literally any other day the line wouldn't be that long. We just put our names down, no reservation required. They did have a shorter special menu for the festival time (likely to make it easier for the kitchen) and it made ordering super fast and easy. Service was polite and quick! Pad see ew w/ an egg on top 4/5, yummy and a huge portion, I took 1/2 home to-go for an additional meal
The Parking here is nonexistent and when I say nonexistent I mean there are people forcing you to pay to park in a public parking lot. Which is ridiculous to me but LA will do anything to make some money. Nonetheless we stopped here to pick up take out since they were all booked and we didn't feel like waiting, the food was tasty but the portions and the prices aren't justified in my opinion.
My friends and I came here right after watching a show at the Pantages Theater. We were so fortunate to walk into a good number of empty tables so we didn't have to wait. However, as we were wrapping our dinner, all the tables were filled and we felt a bit of a push to hurry up to pay and leave. The waiter didn't say anything to push us to leave, but when you see them giving you the bill before you could finish your food or ask for it, you feel a bit pressured to eat faster. The three of us opted for family style and ordered four entrees and a side of white rice to share. We ordered the stir fried crispy catfish, the sautéed morning glory, the shrimp salad, and the pad kee mao with chicken. The total came out to be about $33.28 per person including tax and 20% tip. I think that's very reasonably priced. We also did not have to wait long at all for our food, which we were so pleasantly surprised. This is definitely a place to go if you want good Thai food and have a short meal break. We ordered and finished our food in less than an hour. We parked a few blocks away in the neighborhood. The parking situation in that plaza was a nightmare. There were cars honking and almost hitting the cars in the front or in the back. I don't live anywhere near Hollywood, but if I do come to see a show at the Pantages Theater in the future, I'll make sure to swing by again.
It's been years since I've been here. I remember I really liked it and it's known to be one of the best Thai joints around. Unfortunately, I recently took my family there who was visiting and we were underwhelmed. We came on a Sunday afternoon and while it was busy, we only waited a few minutes. It took a few minutes to order after being seated. All of the food came out pretty fast. The best dish was the Morning Glory with Crispy Pork. The Papaya Salad wasn't tart enough. It seemed like it wasn't marinated long enough. The Bbq Pork noodle dry smelled really bad to the point that we couldn't eat it. In fact, we had to order Fried Rice instead since we couldn't eat the noodles. The Pad See Ew was just okay. I'm disappointed as I really wanted my family to be blown away by the food and it didn't happen. Maybe the kitchen was having an off day. There's a small crowded valet parking lot right out front. We found street parking a few blocks away. Be mindful that it's in the east side of Hollywood, so it can be sketchy and dirty in the surrounding neighborhood.
Every table had a huge plate of papaya salad, if you come you must get this dish too. As most Thai restaurants, their spice scale is on a different level. I love spice and a medium was a tasty level for me. Enough to make me sweat a little without crying too hard. I could taste the yummy flavors of the sweet and tangy dressing with the fishy shrimp through the heat. Their larb was perfect with mixing with sticky rice served in a bamboo basket to keep warm.
After one meal, this is already one of the best Thai spots I've tried in LA! Came with friends and ordered a bunch of dishes, and every single plate was ridiculously delicious. The Pad Thai was the best I've had outside of Thailand. Extremely well balanced, not too sweet, not too tangy, not drowning in sauce, just perfectly done with great noodle texture and loaded with shrimp. The Pad Kee Mao was so flavorful. Smoky, spicy, full of flavor, and had that proper "wok hei" char that makes noodles addictive. The Pad See Ew was equally rich and savory, and deeply satisfying. We also got the turnip omelette (Kai Jeow with preserved radish) and it blew my mind, honestly. It is so simple, but packed with flavor. Somehow one of the best egg dishes I've ever had. The morning glory with pork was another standout, super fresh, garlicky, and cooked perfectly. Everything came out hot, portions were generous, and the whole table went silent because the food is too good to talk through lol. On top of that, the servers were super nice, friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better despite how busy it was :) Packed restaurant, amazing energy, AMAZING food. This place just ruined average Thai food for me. Already thinking about when I'm going back!!!
I really wish I can love this place but it's really disappointing. What once was known as the best Thai food in LA, is no longer the case. We got the raw shrimp salad, spicy catfish and bbq pork over rice. The raw shrimp "salad" is probably the best thing we've ate, but the chili sauce was over powering and couldn't really taste the freshness of the shrimp. And I feel like there could've been saw garlic to go along with it, but nope, just decorative cabbages that is not edible. As for the bbq pork over rice, the sausage was good and the crispy pork too. But the BBQ pork itself was HORRIBLE I literally spit it out. It tasted like old refrigerated dry meat, barely edible. And then the spicy catfish, the portion was so small, it looked like someone ate half of it. The pieces very tiny and it was so dry it tasted like it was refried. The spicy sauce didn't help much. And I overheard the table next to us waited around 30 mins for their dishes. Overall, I'll not be coming back here. There are much better Thai spots than this. Not to mention the parking is horrible as it was valet only on a Saturday.
My favorite Thai food in all of LA, if not the whole country. Delicious sweet and crispy grilled pork, tangy and fresh papaya salad, snappy and rich Isaan sausage. Everything here is just so good. Try the morning glory vegetables with crispy pork. It is SUPER good here. The portions are huge and everything is so authentic tasting. It's tucked into the corner of a Thai town food complex. The service is friendly and the ambiance is fun and chaotic. I can't wait to go again.
Came here on a Sunday night with a friend. I've been to Thaitown a couple of times and have always wanted to try Ruen Pair but there's just so many options nearby that I just hadn't gotten around to it. But I loved it once I tried it! To start, parking was easy. Valet was $5 and no issues there. You can try to park on the street but it will definitely be limited. The wait was about 45 minutes for 2. I would just make sure to wait outside. They called a lot of names while we were waiting. 2 parties of 2 in front of us were not present at the time they called their names so we ended up getting seated sooner than our waiting list number! Once we sat down, we ordered a radh na, seafood soup, and raw crab papaya salad. Everything was so good! I wasn't too impressed by the radh na as it tasted like every other place I've been to, but the soup and the papaya salad were so good! We got both of them medium spicy and the heat was perfect! The salad was very fresh and we didn't get sick from the raw crab, so that's always great! Food also came super fast. Overall, had an amazing experience and can't wait to come back!
It's been 17 years since my last review. Is that right? Wow. I still love this place. I live in Irvine and had to get a babysitter to enjoy a meal here with the hubbie but it was so worth it. The last couple of times my extra spicy request didn't get honored so I emphasized the EXTRA SPICY this time. And boy did they bring the heat. Endorphins were kicking after a couple bites. Service was great, didn't have to wait for a table on a Saturday afternoon. Ordered right away I had been eyeing the menu since we had decided to eat there. I knew exactly what I wanted. The food came out super quick and piping hot. I did have to request a larger table since the table for 2 was not going to hold all the food we ordered. They accommodated us right away. My go to order is pad prik king and let me tell you why it's so much better here than anywhere else. The green beans are fresh and stir fried to a crisp, the pork is not BBQ pork or rubbery, it's not over powered with fish sauce, the red curry is flavorful and the spicy does not take away from the flavor and the dish has the lime leaves that add that little bit of extra flavor too. It's my favorite Thai dish and they do it perfectly. I wish they had a second Thai town in OC so we don't have to make the drive but I thank Ruen Pair for being so consistent all these years. Have heard friends raving about this place, and safe to say, it lives up to all of the hype. Food is so flavorful, reasonably priced, and quick to come out. We got the following: - Pad see ew (with beef). Great portions, noodles were chewy, and good amount of beef with chewy noodles. Good amount of greens too - Duck over rice. The most tender (perhaps a bit too fatty though) duck smoldered with a savory (soy?) sauce, along with a spicy chili soy dipping sauce on the side - Yellow curry (with chicken). PERFECT amount of spice with a very nice kick. A fair amount of chicken, carrots, and potatoes, though I agree with other reviews that the veggies were a tad bit undercooked - Morning glory. Quite normal, but veggies tasted fresh but felt like there was a bit too much liquid from the sauce So yummy! Will be back next time I'm in the area. Parking is valet only ($3 for an hour) We came around 3pm, and even though it opens at 2pm, they were already packed!! This should be enough to tell you about the quality of food here. The wait was not too bad though, only about 10 minutes. Our service was quick and courteous. Very spacious with many seatings. We ordered Kra Pao with minced pork, spicy raw shrimp salad, pad see ew, and morning glory with crispy pork. I also got the longan tea, which I have had better elsewhere. Highly recommend the morning glory and the raw shrimp salad. I hesitated at first since I have not eaten raw shrimp before but it was sooo delicious and not fishy at all! Highly recommend! Bonus: the restaurant is in a plaza with plenty of other Thai restaurant and shops. We got a mango sticky rice from across the plaza and it was also delicious. read more

I lived in Thai Town and tried several Thai restaurants, and Ruen Pair is forever my favourite. It's a no-frills spot in a strip mall off Hollywood Boulevard, but the food is phenomenal. I had a spicy duck curry that I still think about. You can bring your own wine, but they have a great beer selection (Thai and domestic). It's a fluorescent-lit, bustling place, but you won't care about the ambiance once you dive into your dish. Service is efficient and prompt, and there's parking in the strip mall lot. read more
The food is delicious. We ordered chicken pad Thai, pad see ew with beef, duck curry, papaya salad, pork jerky, and Thai tea. The customer service was good, but not excellent because they're busy running around. This restaurant is located in a plaza with Kone convenient valet parking. I was charged five dollars for about an hour and a half. The ambience is loud and bright, tight spaces. I would go back again with my family or friends. read more
Finally tried the infamous Ruen Pair Thai Restaurant this week. I think part of the charm is eating at the actual restaurant and not just getting carry out or delivery. Inside was cute with a Hollywood mural~! You gotta love the homage to LA. Clean restaurants & service, quick service - what more could you want?! Some say Ruen Pair has the best Thai food in LA! I am not well versed enough in Angelano Thai restaurants yet to know, but it is very delicious. Serving from the central and northeast regions of Thailand, some of their items are a bit more unique. You'll still have the curries, noodle dishes and rice dishes but also some more fun items like their Morning Glory with Crispy Pork. I went basic b~ and had Chicken Pad Thai on my visit. It was the standard rice noodles with egg, bean sprouts, green onions and crushed peanuts but did have a great flavor to it. My friend had (and I tried a bit) of the BBQ Pork, chinese sausage and very crispy pork belly over rice with dark soy chili sauce. We both agreed we should try the duck next time, but liked the BBQ Pork best of our meats. Parking in this lot is never fun, but they do have a $3 semi valet parking lot. So there's that, lol. They're open LATE! A huge plus for late night eats in Thai Town. read more

I had a chance to come here with my mom recently and it was popping! We got their right before the rush on a Saturday, so luckily we were able to be sat right away. We ordered the pad thai, crispy pork and broccoli, and a crab fried rice. The dishes were all delicious, but my personal fave was the crab fried rice! The restaurant is a mom and pop small business with the staff hustling to be able to get everyone's orders and serve them to their guests. It's a smaller restaurant that can seat maybe 50 people comfortably. read more

Was looking to find some new Thai food, and stumbled upon this restaurant. We went on like a Tuesday night around like 8-9pm? And the place was absolutely packed, so it must mean that the food is amazing. This is a small restaurant that can accommodate a good amount of people and can accommodate large parties. The service was very quick and efficient. I ordered the pad see ew chicken, and then my friend ordered the ground beef basil leaf and my other friend got a combo which I forgot the name for it. But overall, the food was absolutely fantastic and it was a large portion of food. The great thing also, the food was not too expensive. We will definitely be coming back to this restaurant and highly recommend it read more

We were craving thai so we ducked into Ruen Pair which is located in a plaza of restaurants. Though it was 4 pm on a Saturday, the restaurant was busy and soon became packed. I had the Pad Thai (which I never get it because it's basic). I liked the green onion roots that were just kissed by the heat and fire. The roasted, crushed peanuts were so good. Next time will do family style and try a bunch of items. read more

My review is only for the spicy catfish because that's the only thing I got this time. I may revise my review in the future when I come back and order other dishes. The seasoning for the cat fish dish was decent. Good balance between sweet and sour, and savory and spicy. But the catfish itself was a bit tough and dry. Based on the texture, I'm guessing it was deep fried frozen rather than fresh. Not very spicy - spice level was a 1 or 2 out of 10, which I liked. Would not get this again. Service and ambiance were both good, but do not factor into my rating. read more
There were 7 parties ahead of us when we arrived Friday night at around 8pm. We took a trip to the nearby Thai plaza and were surprised when we checked back to only have 2 parties ahead of us after about 15 minutes. The entire restaurant was packed and lively and we were asked for drink orders quickly. We tried the runepair beer and it was pretty good it had a mild lychee flavor in my opinion. We also ordered several dishes that came with large portions and most of the dishes had a kick of spice ! They did not ask us for what spice level we wanted to be prepared if you can't handle spice well. My favorite dish is always the tom kha (coconut chicken soup). The chicken was actually really tender and juicy unlike a lot other ones I've tried. The raw beef salad was spicy as well but had a really good flavor. Im a huge fan of rare steaks so I had no issues with the raw beef. The chicken sate was a little on the dry side but the sauces pair well with it. Pad Thai was pretty standard. I would recommend this place if you're in the area. read more

I was in the area and decided to give this place a try since I love Thai food and usually drive all the way to SGV. I'm hoping to find a new local go-to. The restaurant is in a busy plaza with valet-only parking. When you walk in, you may need to write your name down, but our party was seated right away. It was packed on a weekend, and since it's a smaller restaurant, tables are very close together--about an arm's length from the next group. Food-wise, it was a mixed experience. I found fish sauce overpowering in most of the dishes, especially the Thai beef jerky (+$2 for beef), which left a displeasing aftertaste. The chicken larb came out steaming hot, but the toasted rice they mixed in tasted burnt and didn't have the fresh flavor I expect (Hoy Ka nearby makes one of the best larbs I've had). Fried rice was just okay, but the beef in it was bland. The pad see ew was probably the best dish we had (+$2 for beef). For four items, we spent over $95, and overall it felt mid for the price. Not sure I'd come back when there are better quality options like Hoy Ka nearby. On the positive side, the servers were attentive and friendly, which I appreciated. read more

Every time I come here the food is so fresh and flavorful. My friends and I decided to order several dishes since our eyes were bigger than our stomachs. There were no regrets. Each dish was extremely flavorful, and I could honestly say this is the best Thai restaurant I've been to in the LA county. We always order the papaya salad and shrimp cakes. They were out of the shrimp cakes when we went but it's a must order. The pad kee mao is a hit or miss. This last time I went it was on point. All of the other dishes are consistently a 5/5. Parking is cash only, about $3-$5 depending on how long you stay. Would highly recommend this restaurant! read more

Rating: 3.9 Never been to Thai town until this past weekend for Ruen pair. My friend said that if it were any other Thai place chosen they wouldn't have gone out that night Service: I feel was to be expected given how popular it was and how small the shop was. The parking in Thai town is annoying for street parking, but the plaza has valet which does validation! Ambiance: there were various types of foodies when I went there, hearing various languages spoken as I crossed each table. Had that night out feeling in Asia. Food: we ordered a sizeable amount of food for the four of us. Most of it was set at mild since we had plans the next day and didn't want to wreck our stomachs lol. But in hindsight, if you can handle spice their medium should be good enough too Papaya salad : deceptively the spiciest of the dishes we got. The dressing for it is a slow burn. We should've mixed it first Tom yum goong: good soup on a cold day, but it felt the weakest of the dishes. Fried pork: the right amount of crunch on the exterior but not dry on the inside. In bite sized pieces too? Goes great with rice Stir fry eggplant with chicken: nothing wrong with it just solid. You could have it with any protein too Lastly the duck curry: the highlight of the dishes we had! The curry was creamy and rich for the right amount. I was lucky enough to try the Papaya Salad with crab and the Spicy Beef Salad--and let me tell you, they're not kidding about the spice. My nose was running, and my stomach wasn't too happy the next morning, but I have zero regrets. The flavors were fresh, bold, and incredibly satisfying. The crispy lettuce soaking up the juices had me craving more with every bite. I paired both dishes with sticky rice, which I ate with my hands--a simple yet satisfying experience. Typically, I stick to familiar dishes like Tom Yum soup or Pad Thai/Pad See Ew when eating Thai food. However, I was fortunate to dine with my Thai roommate, who encouraged me to explore beyond my comfort zone. It was one of the best dining experiences I've had, and it made me wonder why I haven't tried more Thai food before. For those seeking authenticity, my Thai roommate gave Ruen Pair his seal of approval. This spot has become one of my two favorite Thai restaurants in LA--the other being Lum-Ka-Naad in Northridge. Overall, it's a lively and authentic Thai experience that's well worth the 30-minute wait (and that's a short wait here). read more
Great portion sizes and relatively well-priced. There was a small line right before opening on a Sunday, but there were plenty of seats so everyone got seated right away. We got the papaya salad with crab, pad see iew with beef, fried egg and salty turnip, and the green curry. The salad had a great strong flavor, and I really liked the crab. The pad see iew was a little oversauced for me. My favorite dish was the fried egg and salted turnip, which had good texture and flavor (kinda tasted like pad thai in pancake form). I didn't like the green curry - it lacked flavor and the texture of both the chicken and the broth were not what I would expect. Service was efficient, and the store seemed well-maintained. Overall I had a good experience here, but I don't think I'd choose to come here over other Thai spots in the area. read more

4++ This Thai restaurant has been a stalwart of Thai Town for decades. The extensive menu contains Thai classics like the appetizers, noodle dishes, soups, rice dishes, etc. There's also some specialty items as you venture deeper into the menu. This place is great for smaller groups or if you want to dine with another person. Probably even great if you're going solo tbh. The prices here are super reasonable, which makes this place one of the spots you can frequent without breaking the bank. The folks here are friendly as well. Came here recently with an unofficial food club made up of some ex-coworkers, haha. We meet up every few months and my friend chose this place as this is one of her favorite restaurants. No reservations so we had to put or name down and hope for the best since we had a slightly larger group. Once we sat, we ordered: -Fried wonton wrapped shrimp appetizers -Tom yum pla or fish tom yum soup -Papaya salad -Pad see ew with tofu -Crab fried rice We had a pescatarian with us so the menu and what we ordered was super friendly. I also got a delicious Thai iced tea to wash down the food. We didn't get crazy and ordered a lot of the classics. Everything was delicious. It really is amazing that there are some restaurants that have pretty large menus and just seem to do everything really well. After all said and done, the food came out to be less than $30 per person. Can't complain about that. Also, after we were done, we decided to go next door to their new sister restaurant (or dessert place that was opened by the couple that manages this restaurant - separate review for that awesome place) I have to say the amount of people here on a Monday night surprised me. The place was packed with a line waiting outside despite the rain. The parking situation is crazy, because this is one of the busiest plazas in Thai Town. This review has been a long time coming and it's totally well deserved. I've been a loyal fan of Ruen Pair for over a decade now, ever since my Laotian friends from San Diego first introduced me to this gem of an authentic Thai spot. I don't get to come here as often as I'd like since it's kind of a trek from where I live, but best believe I make a stop every time I'm in LA. The food here is always on point, super consistent and packed with legit flavors that you just don't get from your typical Americanized Thai restaurants. One quick way to tell it's the real deal? Just look around at the crowd it says a lot about the kind of market this place caters to. This visit, we kept it classic. We started with the plain papaya salad you can't go wrong with this dish. It's super popular for a reason with generous portions and that perfect sweet-tangy-salty combo that sends me straight to Cloud 9. Next up was the Morning Glory, which is a must-have for me. It's a simple vegetarian dish, but so flavorful and fresh. And to round it out, we got the Pad Woon Sen with shrimp balanced, tasty, and not heavy at all. It hits just right. If you're in LA and find yourself near Thai Town, definitely make the stop. And trust me on this just pay for valet. Save yourself the parking stress. It's worth it. read more

There's so much hype on this place but I actually think that this lives up to it! Got the papaya salad, clams, fried rice, and drunken noodles. Ate all of it and it was soo good. Very impressed with this place forsure. Only thing bad is long wait and valet parking. read more

It's been a few years, so we thought we would give it another shot. It's still the same food quality, just ok. They do give generous servings, but the prices have gone up. 4 dishes with rice was about $100. Service was much better this time. read more

I always come to this plaza for the Thai restaurant across from this location but I have always saw this place with lines out the door. We decided to finally come and give it a try on a Tuesday night and it was surprisingly not too busy. There is a lot of shops within the plaza that can keep you busy while you wait too but stand close by as they only call your name out the door. We got typical chicken Pad Thai, Papaya Salad, Tom Yum soup, Crispy Pork with Chinese Broccoli and a pot of rice ($6). The Pad Thai was saucy and delicious as well as the crispy pork and Chinese broccoli. The papaya salad has a spice rating of 1-5 and we got a level 3 and it still wasn't too spicy. The Tom Yum soup was very sour...pairing it with the rice made it somewhat bearable. Continuing on in my culinary adventures in Thai Town, next on our list was Ruen Pair! Now I heard the shrimp salad was good, but disclaimer, I don't really like shrimp, let alone raw shrimp and yet this was actually so good. AND SO SPICY. I've been improving my spice tolerance but the sauce on that one is actually diabolical (in the best way) and everything including the cabbage was so fresh, aromatic, and a bit zesty too. The pork leg over rice was also well-known here so we got that and the pork quite literally melted in my mouth and was so richly marinated that could be a little salty but that's why it goes so well with the rice (완전 밥도둑). Finally we got the pad kee mao/drunken noodles, which was on the blander side, but the noodles had a hint of that caramelized, kinda smoky charriness to it from the wok that I really liked. Ruen Pair has become one of our go to places for thai food. The food is good and the service has always been quick and friendly. The boat noodles are is definitely my favorite it's got this perfect salty sweet savory taste. Everything else is always really good too. Plenty of tables, so I feel like we've never had to wait long to be seated not even on the weekend. The pad thai I will be honest is good but I have also had better, but on the plus side they are very generous with the peanuts which I feel like we can never get much anywhere else. I like the pad see ew more than the pad thai. There is parking but with valet. Theres also street parking, but that can be tough to find depending on the time of day. read more

I wanted to like this place so bad, but... Hubbers and I deliberately skipped breakfast for a late lunch run after a visit at the Petersen museum. We figured that stop was a great way to build up an appetite. We narrowed it down to three places: here, another within the same complex, and one on the way home. Hubbers let me decide, and the one and only reason this place won out (despite the fact it was taking us further away from home) was because of the stellar reviews. Plenty of open parking spots when we arrived, but valet is mandatory so I traded my car keys for a ticket. Plenty of open tables when Hubbers and I walked in so we were seated immediately. It's amazing what hanger pangs can do - in our case, we were able to decide quickly what we wanted! THAI ICED TEA: Refreshing! It did it's job quenching our thirst on that semi-warm/hot SoCal day. My only issue here is that there was too much ice! Three decent sized gulps and I was more than halfway there... and our food hadn't even started making its way to our table yet! I could've had three of these easy, but that wouldn't be cost effective. So I had to sorta conserve it to wash down with my meal. (We also also asked for water near the end.) MORNING GLORY WITH CRISPY PORK: I understand this vege isn't always available, so we were delighted it was when we came through. Hubbers forgot to mention the crispy pork add to our server, but told her just in time before they got it started. This was a great dish! The greens were fresh and the pork was crispy and seasoned well! This I would recommend! BEEF BALLS ON STICKS: Good chew. Seasoned well. It had a bit of game aroma to it. The sweet and sour dip knocked off the aroma a bit, but it may not be for everyone. The game smell might be enough of a deterrent. (I'll admit I was a teenee put off by it.) WONTON SOUP: It looked good, but that's as far as it went. Oy, there were a few disappointments about this bowl. One: there was more BBQ pork than wontons. (Come on now, it's called wonton soup, not BBQ pork soup.) Had I known this was to be, I would have skipped the Cha Po for something else. Two: the broth was incredibly bland! It lacked depth and flavor. And last but not least: Not only were the wontons lacking, they, too, we're lacking flavor. They completely missed the mark on this. I've had way better at a better price point from a couple of other places. PAD KEE MAO: Hubbers warned the spice level might be a little more than I can handle, but recommended a bite or two anyway. This was prepped good, but after two bites, I was done. It got a bit too spicy for me. (At least the extra ice on my Thai tea came in handy.) CHA PO: Had I known Hubbers was gonna call an audible on the morning glory (and added the crispy pork) AND that the soup had plenty of BBQ pork, I would have gone for either the roasted duck or stew pork leg over rice instead. Since I already had the other two proteins, the duck was the only thing left to try. However little was given (there was a lot of BBQ pork vs crispy pork and duck) it was delicious. I'll give them that. FOOD: 3. At best. The morning glory with crispy pork is the saving grace here. Everything else were barely at par. SERVICE: 3. There wasn't a lot of interaction, but average at best. VALUE: 2.5. Hardly worth it. PARKING: Private lot, $3 for the first 90 minutes. Street parking also available but might be a challenge to find. Pay the three bucks, it's worth it. It wasn't busy when we got here, but it was a mess when we were leaving. Let the valet peeps handle that mess. OVERALL: 2.75. TIP: Bring cash. You get a 4% discount if you do. (Gone are their signs saying there is a 4% charge for using a credit card. I'm assuming there was a bunch of issues with this.) I'm kinda bummed I didn't have the same experience as many of my fellow Yelpers. It made me wonder if we may have ordered the wrong things...? Welp! We gave it a shot, so there's that. But given the opp, I might give 'em another try if only to figure out why they have such raving reviews. Hopefully sooner than later... read more

Really really good decent Thai food for the are, my only issue is with the several times of being there the food is somewhat inconsistent. The stir fry wok hei of the noodles are sometimes super delicious and other times falls flat. We've had papaya salad come out without the crab we ordered (more of a order-taking inconsistency than anything else). The restaurants is almost always crowded unless you go super early before 6pm. Parking here is pretty hit/ miss annoying; paid parking lot or get lucky with street parking. read more
Having visited multiple times, I can confidently recommend the Roast Duck, Roast Duck Curry, Pad Kee Mao, Pad Thai, and Pineapple Fried Rice. However, the curry is unexpectedly watery and doesn't come with rice, though it's remarkably tasty. Service can be hit or miss, but generally good. This restaurant is the busiest in the area. Valet parking is available in front, and if you're patient, street parking around the block is an option. read more

I come here often. At night there's only valet parking. It's usually pretty packed here but this time I was seated right away. We ordered the pork stew leg, papaya salad, and pad see eew with beef. Loved this place when my friends took me here. We did family style and got to try a variety of food and they were all really yummy. But I will say, their mild spice level feels really spicy still. Yes, you can veganize the major rice noodle dishes like Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, Pad Khee Mao by asking for mixed vegetables, no egg, and no fish sauce. They'll happily comply. Also, you can order vegetable fried rice no egg, which is really good too.

It's good and they are very authentic, but Thai places in Thaitown are known for their individual great dishes. The green papaya salad is the claim to fame for Ruen Pair. I enjoy the noodles here too. But always get green papaya salad. Cash only.…
Anyone have an idea how they make their papaya salad? I've been trying to mimic their recipe but nothing comes close. Maybe they brine the papaya or add vinegar?

Valet parking from Monday thru Friday starts at 5 pm and is usually $2-3 for 1.5 hrs. On Saturday and Sunday it is valet all day.
