This is one of my favorite restaurants in Silver Lake area to bring my family to. They have outdoor seating and are dog-friendly, which is perfect for me because I usually come with my child in a stroller and my dog. I love sitting outside, especially in the evening when the weather is pleasant and the atmosphere is relaxing. Most importantly, the food here is bold, authentic, and packed with flavor. Every time I visit, I order the fried chicken wings, pork jerky , som tam (papaya salad), and a spicy soup called Tom Saap. These dishes always remind me of my trips to Thailand. I've lived in Silver Lake for 34 years and there's a reason why I haven't been to "Leela" previously. I love great Thai and Chinese food when it's done well. And I've always been circumspect about "quick serve" versions of these cuisines...and apparently for good reason My friend (who apparently thinks this restaurant is fantastic) suggested we try it so I was game. We both ordered lunch specials for $16.95. My choice was the basil chili and pork which came with a choice of soup or salad. My friend ordered the broccoli cashew with chicken. We both opted for a salad and brown rice. The salad came with a disgusting ranch dressing but turned out to be the best part of the meal. My entree had lots of diced zucchini, bell peppers and carrots in an indescribable goopy sauce along with a giant mound of brown rice and a fried vegetarian egg roll. It was both unappetizing and virtually inedible. There was paper thin pieces of pork as well which didn't improve the experience. My friend's cashew/broccoli with chicken looked equally unappetizing but he ate it with great delight. I wouldn't feed this food to my dog and I can only posit that this dumps' longevity can be attributable to fast and cheap. Because there's absolutely no other reason I can imagine that ANYONE would think this dreck even approaches the concept of Thai food. To make matters worse, several hours later I developed a stomach ache and came down with explosive diarrhea. Do yourself a favor and stay away from ANY ethnic restaurant that offers cheap lunch specials or buffet service. I tried eating there and was told to use the QR code menus. My guest and I didn't have any cell service (Verizon) and saw other guests struggling to connect. We asked for a paper menu and were told it's not updated and the waitress walked away. We asked if they had WiFi and the waitress said we could try and said the password was something on the menu with no spaces and walked away again. We couldn't connect to WiFi and had no way of knowing what food was available. Very strange experience. There was one big table of people and one or two other small groups. It wasn't very busy. I had the privilege of being able to come back here again and have dinner twice in the past month. Despite me not being able to eat spice for religious purposes, the meals I had here were still both very good. This is easily one of the best places in LA for Thai Food, and just for food in general. It never ceases to amaze me how phenomenal the food here is. Came here after a hike at Griffith with my friend. He had the Pad Thai, I had the Duo Fried Rice, which comes with crab and shrimp, omelet style. It was delicious. Tried some of my buddy's Pad Thai and was also very tasty. The second time, I came for the lunch special with two friends who stay in the area. Had myself an order of the heavenly chicken which comes with a side of soup and brown rice. The cherry on top is definitely the food and the service. The staff are super attentive and sweet. As for the food, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. This place is always busy and for good reason. The ambiance here is perfect for the neighborhood, you feel like you're eating at someone's home and not a sterile restaurant. The interior decor is quaint and reflects Thai trinket culture. The garden is a serene place for dinner despite being roadside - it really feels like an escape. The menu has all the classics. I really liked the pad Thai, pineapple fried rice, and the tom kha is on the sour side (which I really like). The last time I ate at this restaurant was when it was still just Leela Thai. It's a charming location in my neighborhood, came here for my birthday. It does get busy, so don't expect constant checks. Glasses waitress is fine, but the other waitress smiles and is more friendly. They serve ice cold water in Ikea jugs, with small metal cups. It's a nice touch. I had the Silver Lake Pasta with chicken, which is fun, it's like a Thai take on the Italian spaghetti noodle. It is definitely spicy, even with medium temperature. Very good flavors. My son had the Pad Thai with chicken, but it came with tofu as well, he ended up giving me those. I also had the mango and sticky rice, which I've had better at other Thai restaurants. The sauce was just sweet, it was missing a stronger coconut flavor that I'm used to tasting. It is genuinely one of the most comfortable spots to eat in Silver Lake, and the atmosphere somehow makes the food taste even better. Everything I tried was phenomenal. The Pad Thai Boran was packed with flavor and had perfect noodle consistency, plus the portions are huge. The egg rolls were fantastic and came out crispy and flavorful. I was pleasantly surprised by how authentic this Thai cuisine is. All staff appear to be Thai and the menu is extensive. They had a waitlist but it went quickly and we were seated inside the small dining room. There are lots of seating options, including two enclosed porches and the sidewalk. Had my first ever trip to The Silver Lake House by Leela Thai a few weeks back and I was completely blown away by the whole experience. We met some friends here around 7:00PM and after a super short wait, got seated in the beautiful patio area. The menu here is a best of list for Thai food and has pretty much everything you could possibly want from desert or dinner to appetizers and salads. My wife and I decided to split an order of the Lettuce Wraps with Tofu as well as an order of the Combination Fried rice. Let's cut the small talk and get into the taste! Combination Fried Rick- A mixture of Chicken, Beef, Pork, Scallions, Egg, and Onion. The combination fried rice is absolutely packed with the proteins, had such mouth watering flavour, and truly had me stuffing my mouth with as much as possible. Lettuce Wraps with Tofu- My wife's pick of the two, the lettuce wraps were much larger then I was expecting and these things were absolutely delicious! Overall, The Silver Lake House by Leela Thai was a top notch dining experience and a great place for a nice dinner. They have outdoor seating in front of the restaurant as well as a garden area inside, making it a very dog-friendly place where you can bring your pets along. I ordered the drunken noodles with chicken, mild spice. It wasn't spicy at all, just a small kick, and the flavors were fantastic. The portion was huge, very filling, and worth every bite. My review for this place is long overdue - this is my boyfriend and I's go to thai spot in silverlake and honestly all of LA. We always gravitate toward the devil wing appetizer, pad thai and drunken noodles. My personal favorite is also the spring rolls - they're enormous, filled with veggies, and come with a heaping amount of peanut sauce. Sometimes when I want a light meal I'll just order that. I have ordered their yellow curry and salmon curry and both were also delicious. We order new things every so often and so far none of them have disappointed us, which speaks to how great the quality and consistency of their food is. There is usually a wait on weekends but it goes fast. The most I've ever waited is about 30 minutes on a Saturday night. Their service is great, super nice waiters and very attentive. They have a very cozy ambiance, with both indoor, sidewalk, and outdoor patio seating. Parking is a little tricky but that's just LA in general. The food is almost always perfection. I love the egg rolls, the salmon larb salad is SO good, so fresh and unique. All the other classic Thai dishes I've tried are great like pad see ew with beef.
