We happened to be in the area around lunchtime, and since Palms Thai was a family favorite when I was younger, we knew we had to come back. The $8.99 Chicken Green Curry was delicious, comforting, and full of flavor. The $8.99 Pad See Ew was savory, smoky, and not overly sweet, with tender slices of beef. We also ordered the half Thai Chicken for $14.99, which was simple yet delicious, especially paired with the sweet and sour sauce. Of course, we had to order the fried trout, which was always my favorite growing up. I'm happy to say it tasted just as amazing as I remembered...crispy, perfectly cooked, not greasy at all, and topped with an incredible cashew and mango sauce. The excellent customer service is also worth mentioning. The staff were friendly, accommodating, and checked on us several times throughout our meal, making us feel very welcome. My co-workers and I work in healthcare, and because we're often busy, we have a potluck every other Saturday. Palm Thai has always been our first choice. Around 12:40 p.m., we picked up our lunch order. The employee at the counter gave us eight sets of plastic utensils but refused to provide paper plates, saying they no longer give them out starting that day. Since we were sharing food for our potluck, I politely asked how we were supposed to eat without plates. After I insisted, she reluctantly gave us eight small paper plates that were about half the size of the regular ones, even though there were ten of us. She then spoke to another employee in a language other than English while looking directly at me, which made me feel uncomfortable and as though they were talking about me. When I tried to explain our situation, she raised her voice and said, "Listen to me, I work here," but she would not let me finish speaking. She also told me I would have to pay for additional plates. Rather than continue the argument, I left without taking any plates. The food is good, which is why we've chosen Palm Thai for our potlucks. However, this interaction was disappointing. Good customer service means listening respectfully to customers, even when explaining a new policy. I hope management addresses how customers are treated so others have a better experience. read more

A few days ago, a few friends went looking for some Thai sauces and goods before going to the Palms Thai Restaurant. Now, I have been here before, but it has been many years, and it's changed inside as there was no more stage for Elvis to perform. The service was nice and pleasant for sure. As for my order, it was very good, but not totally expected. In the past I have ordered spicy at other Thai restaurants and they have a hint of heat. At the Palms, I would say it was a bit of a fire with the spicy rating. Hahaha... the flavor was good, but I was putting up a sweat and going through my Thai Ice Tea like it was water. Now I can take some heat and so I didn't mind the spiciness of my Kee Mao, but I will warn you to check your tolerances before going all the way up to spicy. Hahaha ... Absolutely phenomenal no frills Thai food. The decor is quaint and modest but the food packs a punch. Went here and had a delicious lunch. Both authentic and incredibly well sized portions. How did I live a block from here for years and never visit?? Once in a while, I'll crave a random dish. Today, that happened to be pineapple fried rice. When done right, it's delicious but when the opposite happens, it can put me off it for years. I'm so pleased to say this place nailed it! I had to ask for no egg since there wasn't an online option to remove this. They also provide a huge portion, so it lasted me two meals. As for parking, there is some street/meters BUT there is also a lot that I believe they share with the storage unit that takes up the corner at Bronson/Hollywood (you enter on Bronson). It's free during the week but I think she said it's $5 on the weekend/when valet is there. Most likely I'll be here during lunch so I won't have to worry about that, and neither should you since you'll be prepared. Palms Thai was a favorite for years even before I moved within walking distance. Used to come from the valley to grab great meals. Very different place now. Last visit, food was excellent as always. Not sure how the food was tonight 3/21/26 though. Wanted to place an order to go since they no longer accept phone orders, and haven't for a minute. But instead of a real person taking my order at the bar, I was directed to a screen to select my food options. So you're going to take my order if it's for there, but a screen if to go? We might have made a mistake of dunking the vermicelli into the bowl and mixed with all of the curry sauce. Myself and a few coworkers decided to stop by Palms for lunch. The restaurant was fairly empty in the middle of the day so the service was fast and friendly. I had the friend wontons, egg rolls, and as my main course I had the chicken curry with a medium spice level. The wontons were a 4/5 for me. They were crispy and flavorful. I could eat those things all day. The egg rolls were ok (3/5), but I've had better. I really enjoyed the chicken curry (4/5). I got a medium spice level which was perfect for me. My first experience enjoying Thai food was at a birthday celebration in December. It was a fun time. Palms Thai Restaurant is a great place for large group celebrations . The atmosphere is upbeat and lively. So the wife and I returned for a post Valentine day dinner. Once again the staff was very accommodating , nice and friendly. Food is fresh and delicious, served hot from the kitchen. I love the family-style dining so I could return to second helpings of the spicy water spinach (Morning Glory). Mixed vegetables are delish also. The shrimp-fried rice was so good with large shrimp throughout. Crunchy fried wontons with chicken Sa-Tae opened the evening. Service was underwhelming and the food didn't live up to expectations -- especially for the price. What really left a bad taste was the automatic 18% "large group" gratuity for a table of 4 adults and one 3-year-old. That's not a large party by any reasonable standard. We always tip well, but this felt like they chose quick cash over long-term business rather than focusing on good customer service. We were going to tip well anyway, but it felt wrong -- like they wanted extra money rather than earning it through good service, since we only asked once for napkins and bowls that should have come with the soup, they never checked on us, and we even had to get our own to-go containers because they were too busy. After years of coming here, this experience makes it an easy decision not to return. There's better Thai food down the street with better service that doesn't feel the need to shake customers down for extra money. This place been our go to for years in the city. Foods always been great and service was good. This visit, they had a sign listed about hours. I could have sworn they stay open later but maybe I was wrong. There's valet out back is 5.00. Normally there's always a crowd waiting to get a table but it does move quite fast. It's a full bar so whatever you like they can accommodate. The cocktail menu does have a full menu on specialty drinks. There's always a lot of staff on hand so getting someone's attention is always easy. Entrees, a mixture of items to share. Family style at its best. Both the duck curry and chicken panang. Always a good choice and the flavors were always on point. But when did they stop adding rice with curries. You have to order it separately now. The bbq pork was always a must as well. Meat cooked perfectly and the sauce dip that comes with it was a perfect addition. The chicken larb, seasoned perfectly and each bite was great. That was accompanied with cabbage and cucumber. Perfect with steamed white rice. Then the beef pad see ew which is an easy choice and always a must. Thick flat rice noodles with Chinese broccoli and sliced beef with eggs. And the beef noodle soup. It's a classic for Thai restaurants. Different version depending on where you go. Perfect all year round. It's like pho at a Vietnamese restaurant. Broth was flavorful, good amount of beef with Chinese broccoli, bean sprouts and fried pork skin. Service is alway good. Food is always fresh and flavorful. Drinks, always been good. It's been ages that we schlep to Hollywood. We were closed to Thai town and wanted to revisit the Palms restaurant for lunch. Parking is great and free during lunch hours, I heard it's very tough around dinner time. Service was nice and the food is consistently good. I had their crab meat fried rice and it was the best I've ever had. Big chunks of crab meat over fried rice and the chili, garlic sauce was phenomenal. We went on jazz night, which is a Friday night. The band was great. They play oldies and Newer songs. It was perfect for everyone at our table because we had a range of different age groups. The sound was perfect. Also wasn't too loud in there where you can still have a conversation. I didn't notice the gentleman at a distance man managing the sound inside there. I have to say it was well perfect, because I hate to scream to talk to a group of people while eating and enjoying music! The food was delicious, portion was perfect also depending on how hungry you are. They are definitely shareable except for the salad. Service is horrible. The wait time when ordering pick up is not accurate took way over an hour and the employees are rude. Don't even ask for chili because they don't want to give more than 1 tiny container of it for an order that has more than 8 dishes and spent over $160. We have been customers for more than 10 years and the service has quite change and sadly, it's not for the better. The staff used to be polite, understanding and friendly and now it seems like they're the opposite of that. Today, we came to eat and since the kids are allergic to shrimp, decided to bring outside food and we kindly asked if it was allowed (we explained that they're allergic) and they didn't seem to care. Since we had already paid valet parking, we had to go outside for the kids to eat and then, come back to eat. Additionally, they have a promotion "Buy 3 entrees, get one free" and we decided to order an entree to go and at first they didn't want to honor it and stated that they must be dine in only. They should add that to their promotion since they didn't even include it in small writing or anything. At the end, they said they'll honor it but we have to pack our food to go lol. Totally a vibe. The restaurant is enormous with tons of huge parties. Portions are large and prices are good, not surprising that all of LA shows up to Palms Thai. Lots of residential parking that's a short walk away. We have ordered takeout from here a few times and it's always been delicious. First time dining in and we were sadly disappointed with the food. Ticket times were out of whack. Nothing came out at the same time, the curry came out 15 minutes before the pad see ew. Let's start with the Thai tea. Very watery very mid. It was $6 for a Thai tea and it was more disappointing than good. We ordered shrimp cakes, yellow curry, pad Thai, and pad see ew. The shrimp cakes were very under seasoned. Normally at other places we don't add soy sauce but we found out these needed it. There was just something lacking in the flavor department. Pad see ew was very wet and saucy. I'm not used to that and kinda got me off guard. I've never had pad see ew that wet before, and it's supposed to almost stick to itself, this wasn't it. It definitely could have reduced more to get that desired consistency. The chicken pad Thai was very similar. Although loaded with chicken, the noodles themselves were not very good, my wife had trouble chewing and swallowing them. The curry though, *sigh*, was whaaaaack. Although good on the thickness, we ordered medium spicy and there was literally no spice to it. The carrots and potatoes inside the curry were undercooked, hard & not al dente at all. I added two things of chili oil to it. The decor in the restaurant was very cute. We loved all the cats, and the fish tank with the one eyed fish. The wait staff were incredibly helpful, attentive, and kind. 5/5 on waitstaff. The music being played was wonderful, Al Green is always fire. The portions are very large, which I would agree justifies the prices, we did spend $120 on a whole lot of food we didn't even eat, or like, sadly. We left still wanting Thai food from somewhere else as our cravings were not satisfied. Also, I think she was the owner, my wife commented on how pretty that lady is. Just as we were about to walk in, a lovely Thai woman told us she had just returned from Thailand and always visits this spot whenever she's in the country. That immediately got us excited as we've been to Thailand a lot of time ourselves and have been missing authentic Thai food. The restaurant is clean and spacious. We ordered the crab fried rice and BBQ beef, both were absolutely delicious! We also tried the steamed fish, and the sauce it came with was incredible. Of course, we had to complete the meal with Thai milk tea and mango sticky rice. Everything was flavorful. Went here on a Saturday lunch time and we did not have to wait. Service was friendly too. Came to Palms with a group of friends before heading to a concert nearby. We made a dinner reservation but the restaurant is so big they had plenty of open tables and didn't seem to have any issue taking walk ins. Inside, they had long tables that can accommodate large parties. They also have a stage where it looks like people perform. Their menu is HUGE and has pretty much any Thai dish you can imagine. I ordered the pad se ew with pork and my husband got the Khao Soi with medium spice. Be warned, they take their spice levels seriously and it was borderline too spicy for him but he said it was just perfect and tasted great.
