Palms Thai was a favorite for years even before I moved within walking distance. Used to come from the valley to grab great meals. Very different place now. Last visit, food was excellent as always. Not sure how the food was tonight 3/21/26 though. Wanted to place an order to go since they no longer accept phone orders, and haven't for a minute. We have been customers for more than 10 years and the service has quite change and sadly, it's not for the better. The staff used to be polite, understanding and friendly and now it seems like they're the opposite of that. Today, we came to eat and since the kids are allergic to shrimp, decided to bring outside food and we kindly asked if it was allowed (we explained that they're allergic) and they didn't seem to care. Since we had already paid valet parking, we had to go outside for the kids to eat and then, come back to eat. Additionally, they have a promotion "Buy 3 entrees, get one free" and we decided to order an entree to go and at first they didn't want to honor it and stated that they must be dine in only. They should add that to their promotion since they didn't even include it in small writing or anything. At the end, they said they'll honor it but we have to pack our food to go lol. A few days ago, a few friends went looking for some Thai sauces and goods before going to the Palms Thai Restaurant. Now, I have been here before, but it has been many years, and it's changed inside as there was no more stage for Elvis to perform. The service was nice and pleasant for sure. As for my order, it was very good, but not totally expected. In the past I have ordered spicy at other Thai restaurants and they have a hint of heat. At the Palms, I would say it was a bit of a fire with the spicy rating. Hahaha... the flavor was good, but I was putting up a sweat and going through my Thai Ice Tea like it was water. Now I can take some heat and so I didn't mind the spiciness of my Kee Mao, but I will warn you to check your tolerances before going all the way up to spicy. Hahaha ... It's been ages that we schlep to Hollywood. We were closed to Thai town and wanted to revisit the Palms restaurant for lunch. Parking is great and free during lunch hours, I heard it's very tough around dinner time. Service was nice and the food is consistently good. I had their crab meat fried rice and it was the best I've ever had. Big chunks of crab meat over fried rice and the chili, garlic sauce was phenomenal. You will not go home hungry. We went with the catfish salad, phad thai, and chili basil stir fry. Everything was packed with flavor and it was probably some of the best Thai food I've experienced. How did I live a block from here for years and never visit?? Once in a while, I'll crave a random dish. Today, that happened to be pineapple fried rice. When done right, it's delicious but when the opposite happens, it can put me off it for years. I'm so pleased to say this place nailed it! I had to ask for no egg since there wasn't an online option to remove this. They also provide a huge portion, so it lasted me two meals. As for parking, there is some street/meters BUT there is also a lot that I believe they share with the storage unit that takes up the corner at Bronson/Hollywood (you enter on Bronson). It's free during the week but I think she said it's $5 on the weekend/when valet is there. Most likely I'll be here during lunch so I won't have to worry about that, and neither should you since you'll be prepared. I used to come here long time ago before Covid then I backed with my ladies in couple weeks ago, and food was great. Today I brought my family so disappointed... food was super salty, and took so long. I knew they were busy but it wasn't mean you ordered some food before someone came after you but they had already had their food. Outside in the front the restaurant was dangerous with so much Homeless on the other side of the street. Beef satays were delicious. Love the sauce & meat were tender too. Crab curry were a bit more salty & spicy than expected from a medium, although flavorful. We might have made a mistake of dunking the vermicelli into the bowl and mixed with all of the curry sauce. Probably would be better, had I spooned the curry crab on to the vermicelli sparingly and mixed in more curry as needed. There is a parking garage shared with the storage shop next store and entered from Bronson Ave. I went on Friday night and it was $5 all night. My first experience enjoying Thai food was at a birthday celebration in December. It was a fun time. Palms Thai Restaurant is a great place for large group celebrations . The atmosphere is upbeat and lively. So the wife and I returned for a post Valentine day dinner. Once again the staff was very accommodating , nice and friendly. Food is fresh and delicious, served hot from the kitchen. I love the family-style dining so I could return to second helpings of the spicy water spinach (Morning Glory). Mixed vegetables are delish also. The shrimp-fried rice was so good with large shrimp throughout. Crunchy fried wontons with chicken Sa-Tae opened the evening. BBQ beef ribeye filled me up and was washed down with a delicious unsweetened ice green tea. Looking forward to our next Thai food experience. read more

Myself and a few coworkers decided to stop by Palms for lunch. The restaurant was fairly empty in the middle of the day so the service was fast and friendly. I had the friend wontons, egg rolls, and as my main course I had the chicken curry with a medium spice level. The wontons were a 4/5 for me. They were crispy and flavorful. I could eat those things all day. The egg rolls were ok (3/5), but I've had better. I really enjoyed the chicken curry (4/5). I got a medium spice level which was perfect for me. Service was underwhelming and the food didn't live up to expectations -- especially for the price. What really left a bad taste was the automatic 18% "large group" gratuity for a table of 4 adults and one 3-year-old. That's not a large party by any reasonable standard. We always tip well, but this felt like they chose quick cash over long-term business rather than focusing on good customer service. We were going to tip well anyway, but it felt wrong -- like they wanted extra money rather than earning it through good service, since we only asked once for napkins and bowls that should have come with the soup, they never checked on us, and we even had to get our own to-go containers because they were too busy. After years of coming here, this experience makes it an easy decision not to return. There's better Thai food down the street with better service that doesn't feel the need to shake customers down for extra money. We went on jazz night, which is a Friday night. The band was great. They play oldies and Newer songs. It was perfect for everyone at our table because we had a range of different age groups. The sound was perfect. Also wasn't too loud in there where you can still have a conversation. I didn't notice the gentleman at a distance man managing the sound inside there. I have to say it was well perfect, because I hate to scream to talk to a group of people while eating and enjoying music! The food was delicious, portion was perfect also depending on how hungry you are. They are definitely shareable except for the salad. I had that all to myself they had a steak salad that was flavor was on point and the steak was cooked to perfection.. there seafood and pineapple fried rice was definitely shareable and the pineapples were so sweet and the seafood was perfectly balanced. This place been our go to for years in the city. Foods always been great and service was good. This visit, they had a sign listed about hours. I could have sworn they stay open later but maybe I was wrong. There's valet out back is 5.00. Normally there's always a crowd waiting to get a table but it does move quite fast. They had the restaurant in two section this visit. The side near the stage seemed to be for bigger groups. When we arrived, it was blocked off. Everyone was seated on the opposite side. It's a full bar so whatever you like they can accommodate. The cocktail menu does have a full menu on specialty drinks. Of course had to get a round of the spicy margarita which is always good choice. We did noticed that the food menu did have some new items listed on it. Specialty items which looked amazing but way priceer compared to the other dishes. Their prices has always been good affordable meal but it has gone up. Just like everywhere else. There's always a lot of staff on hand so getting someone's attention is always easy. Entrees, a mixture of items to share. Family style at its best. Both the duck curry and chicken panang. Always a good choice and the flavors were always on point. But when did they stop adding rice with curries. You have to order it separately now. The bbq pork was always a must as well. Meat cooked perfectly and the sauce dip that comes with it was a perfect addition. The chicken larb, seasoned perfectly and each bite was great. That was accompanied with cabbage and cucumber. Perfect with steamed white rice. Then the beef pad see ew which is an easy choice and always a must. Thick flat rice noodles with Chinese broccoli and sliced beef with eggs. And the beef noodle soup. It's a classic for Thai restaurants. Different version depending on where you go. Perfect all year round. It's like pho at a Vietnamese restaurant. Broth was flavorful, good amount of beef with Chinese broccoli, bean sprouts and fried pork skin. Service is alway good. Food is always fresh and flavorful. Drinks, always been good. Lots of residential parking that's a short walk away. We went here for their buy 3 get one free entree promotion. We ordered 4 entrees and even indicated what the free (lower priced one) would be but were charged for all 4. Sadly I didn't notice until later. Also, this place never listens to your spice preferences. When I say LEVEL 3 spicy, DO THAT. Every time I get a non-spicy dish. They will judge your appearance and tell you what spice level they think you'll like. They also tried to disuade my friend from ordering what he wanted because they assumed he didn't know what it was. It's annoying. Just as we were about to walk in, a lovely Thai woman told us she had just returned from Thailand and always visits this spot whenever she's in the country. That immediately got us excited as we've been to Thailand a lot of time ourselves and have been missing authentic Thai food. The restaurant is clean and spacious. We ordered the crab fried rice and BBQ beef, both were absolutely delicious! We also tried the steamed fish, and the sauce it came with was incredible. Of course, we had to complete the meal with Thai milk tea and mango sticky rice. Everything was flavorful. Went here on a Saturday lunch time and we did not have to wait. Service was friendly too. We made a dinner reservation but the restaurant is so big they had plenty of open tables and didn't seem to have any issue taking walk ins. Inside, they had long tables that can accommodate large parties. They also have a stage where it looks like people perform. Their menu is HUGE and has pretty much any Thai dish you can imagine. I ordered the pad se ew with pork and my husband got the Khao Soi with medium spice. Be warned, they take their spice levels seriously and it was borderline too spicy for him but he said it was just perfect and tasted great. Food it's okay, it used to be much, much better years ago. My food was super salty, could not eat it, when they came to pick up the dishes they asked if I wanted to take it home. Here's my take: Service: waiters/waitresses were very professional and attentive to detail. Some things to note were giving food recs and making sure our water was always filled. Food: it was a mainly simple meal so we ordered 2 curries Roasted duck curry: As someone with a decent spice tolerance I should've aimed for spicy level instead, I only got medium to be safe as we had a show to go to afterwards. Taste wise it was a lot more sour from the pineapple and spices, like lemongrass, used to make the curry. There was a good amount of duck for the dish. I would try it again when I'm in the area. Green curry: my friend is a green curry person and uses it as a litmus test for Thai places. He ordered mild. While i don't normally have green curry, we found it to be nice and creamy. Spicier could be better though. P.s. while we didn't order penang curry, it was recommended by our waitress as the go to order for most folks. The restaurant itself is kind of nondescript because it shares the signage with the self storage, I almost missed it walking past it. Upon entering its a great venue to have huge parties. I have been a regular customer for 15 years, and never thought i would be writing a negative review about this place. This new management needs to train its employees on some basic customer service. The older woman was very rude and Refused to give me hot sauce with my to go order. So if dining in you deserve hot sauce, if you're taking your food to go, yo don't. Then for asking for the 3rd time she proceeded to fill the container only halfway. Which was no where enough for my large plate of fried rice. Left me feeling like Im begging for some hot sauce with the food I paid for. I told her i will pay for it just give me a normal portion, she continues to give me an attitude. What a joke of a management, learn how to treat costumers. Every one of our visits included at least 6 people, and we always made big orders and left generous tips. Lost a long time customer, and I will make sure everyone I know never steps foot in this place ever again. We will gladly spend our money somewhere else.
