i love mangos. i love rice. and i love spiking my blood sugar. this is why thai food is my favorite cuisine. yet i've got my whole panang curry, pad see ew, and tom yum obsessions WITHOUT EVER TRYING MANGO STICKY RICH. granted, i'm always WAY TOO FULL to order dessert. they do NOT skimp on portions at thai restaurants the hospitality is unreal. but this is unacceptable some mango is my fav fruit. i got an ube mango sticky rice at a food festival one time, but it was cold and pretty standard... that was my only impression of it. NOW FLASH BACK TO HERE. i to echo park only seeking dessert and my friend SHOVED ME over to this tiny cute little establishment. little did i know my upcoming flavor explosion. the sticky rice was WARM, coconutty, sweet and absolutely melted in your mouth while still holding firm, not necessarily mushy. i almost shed a tear. it was STEAMING. and the condensed milk drizzled on top went above and beyond... it was definitely coconut that added just another level of tropical warmth ugh. and those MANGOS??? GIRL ITS APRIL, NOT SUMMER??? yet they were the sweetest, softest, most decadent mangos on planet earth. with that bit of mint, every bite had me in ecstasy... and a food coma. EDIT : Hate that it took posting a negative review on Yelp to get a response, but they did finally respond to my email and refunded my meal (which is above and beyond what I asked for). Updating this review to 4 stars in acknowledgement that they did. As I mentioned previously, I like Sticky Rice. I've been coming here once a month since they re-openned after covid. And as someone who works in production and knows that things never go as planned, I'm generally the first to give someone the benefit of the doubt when something goes wrong. What I judge is the response....which is what prompted my original review. Several of my reviews here deal with that response rather than an isolated incident, and that's where a company's true colors shine. It isn't when everything is running smoothly when that recognizable critic is present (and also my objection to having a clear photo as requested by Yelp), but when the unexpected happens to an otherwise anonymous customer. How the staff manages their response when a valid complaint is made make all the difference, and unfortunately it took taking my complaint public to get a response, but yes, they came through in the end and I'm happy to recommend them again. read more

This place exceeded my expectations and the location makes it a great lunch spot after a walk around the Echo Park lake. My friend and I ordered the pad thai, spring rolls, and the wings, and every single menu item was good. The wings are a must. They were perfectly cooked, incredibly flavorful, and the kind of dish you keep thinking about after you leave. I didn't get to take a picture of the fresh rolls we ordered, but I was surprised by how huge they were. The vegetables tasted fresh and the peanut sauce was so good that we found ourselves dipping everything into it. The pad thai, as basic as it could be, was the standout for me. The noodles had the perfect texture, not too soft and not too firm, and the sauce was well balanced with just the right amount of sweetness and salt. Every ingredient tasted fresh, and the crunch from the vegetables brough everything together. It's definitely one of the better Pad Thai dishes I've had. My friend ordered the Drunken noodles, which were just as enjoyable. She added some spice to it and she was happy. It tasted like the pad thai in my opinion, btu the noodles still had a great chew! The space definitely adds to the experience. The decor is beautiful and thoughtfully designed. We sat on the inside, but there were some outdoor tables by the patio. My only reason for taking off the star is the price. The quality is definitely there but I have been to other Thai places in LA and it's hard to justify the price point when the portion sizes are the same! The food took a little while to come out for us, but since everything tasted freshly made, and my friend and I were chatting, we didn't mind the wait. This was a great find! Got to our concert early and saw this across from the Echo. We started with the Penang fries, they were crispy, tasty, and easy eating. $5 happy hour beer was a great pairing with the fries. Also ordered the Khao Soi it was delicious and full of flavor. I got it medium spicy and it had just the right kick. The place was small but comfortable and the staff was friendly. We'll definitely be back next time I'm in the area. read more

I arrived from San Diego and stopped by this small restaurant on East Sunset Blvd in Echo Park with my daughter around 4:00 PM. It wasn't busy, but we stood waiting for about five minutes with no greeting or acknowledgment from anyone on staff. I finally approached a female employee (long silver earrings) to ask if someone could help us. Her response was unbelievably rude--she said she was "busy," in a tone that made it clear she didn't want us there. I even asked, frankly, "Do you want us to leave?" and she replied, "I don't care." Then she told us to leave. We were literally kicked out. I understand being understaffed. I understand stress during a shift. But disrespecting customers and telling them to leave--when the restaurant wasn't even packed--is unacceptable. I left shocked and uncomfortable, and honestly, afraid to ever return or even pass by again. This was one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had.!!! Very disappointed. This has been on my list for a while and I finally went with friends for dinner. The food is incredibly bland. The rice was undercooked and my friends yellow curry was under seasoned as well as my pad kee mao. My other friends pad Thai was not very good either. On top of that, the service is spotty. On placing the order the barperson who took my order told me it might take 25 minutes. OK, I went for a walk. I came back 25 minutes later. Not ready. I checked in at 35 minutes. Not ready. The time i stood there waiting a steady stream of Delivery drivers picked up their orders. I checked in at 45 minutes. Not ready. At this point I said, ok when will it be ready. 5 minutes later the waiter came and told me it would be 20 more minutes. "We have a lot of delivery orders". 1 hour and 5 minutes. Disclaimer: I come from a very heavily Asian populated area so I am used to distinct and pungent flavors. That tastes and feels the most authentic to my palate. Came here for a quick bite before a walk around the lake with a friend I haven't seen in a couple years. I loved our server and overall experience here I appreciated. In terms of food, the panang curry was more watery than I had expected. It had a lot of nice vegetables and a big serving of rice on the side. I thought the flavors were there but it could have definitely been turned up a little more, but wasn't bad for something quick. My friend got the satay and this was more my style. What each of us shared: 1. Papaya Salad - Super mild and not spicy compared to other thai restaurants. If you like spicy foods, I wouldn't recommend this as it was more refreshing than spicy. We didn't realize it until the dish came, but we were surprised by the wedge of cabbage on the side. It's not something you typically see when ordering papaya salad, so we weren't sure if we were suppose to create wraps and eat it. 2. The Sticky Rice wings: Super juicy and came out piping hot! The batter on the wings were still crunchy and when paired with the sauce, fried basil and peppers, it was super good. Was the highlight of everyone's meal. The staff is nice the Manager Eddy was very helpful with recommendations (since it was our 1st time) and just checking up on us throught the night. So service was great! After an evening of shenanigans with some lovely friends during the week, we found ourselves in the Echo Park area at about 10pm and most of us haven't eaten dinner yet. Upon some yelping, we see that Sticky rice was something that we were all craving: a bit of food and a bit of sweets to end the night. Despite coming near closing, we were able to get our takeout order squeezed in before they started closing for the night! Thank you again staff for being accommodating! Haven't had pad thai in a long time, even after driving it back to my friends place for almost 30 mins it was still soo good. Practically cleaned the whole plate. The restaurant has a lot of personality to it, I mean it in a good way. It's definitely a good dinner hang out place at night to meet with friends and catch up. Would come again. Such a cute little place! We ate here while visiting a friend in echo park and loved it. We had the roti and green curry which I've never tried before and was pleasantly surprised. My family and I walked to this restaurant from Echo Park when we attended The Lotus Festival. We walked around the food area at the festival and it looked disappointing and we didn't want to deal with the crowds. I went on my trusted yelp app to look for something that was walking distance so we don't have to move our car. When we walked in, it took about 10 minutes for a staff to make any eye contact with us. They were not that busy. There were about 3 tables occupied. We asked to be seated outside since it was such a small space inside. We ordered pad see ew with shrimp, a Thai Iced Tea and Banana Samosas for dessert. My husband, 7 year old and myself were not very hungry. We were so glad we didn't order more items. The shrimp pad see ew came out looking like trash. The noodles were all broken and the presentation was like they made no effort. For a $27 plate, that was disappointing. The shrimps did not taste fresh, and everything was greasy. The Thai iced tea was watered down before the ice was even melting. And the banana samosas were okay. The inside bananas were mushy and the coconut sauce was too salty. We have been to many Thai restaurants and this has to be the worst. Even the experience with the staff was bad. I think we would have been better off just eating at the festival. read more

Ate here with my fiancé before going to a concert at The Echo across the street. It was surprisingly busy for a Wednesday night (around 7pm), but we didn't have to wait too long to be seated. Cool, low-light ambiance inside. We split the Roti with Green Curry, Pineapple Fried Rice, and a Thai tea. All were DELICIOUS but the roti and curry were seriously amazing. Haven't found anywhere else that makes their roti like this and we're obsessed. Sadly we live in Long Beach and can't be regulars, but trust me--we'll be back for that roti!! read more

Used to be a place I went to a lot given I live literally next to it. Sticky rice started off strong in the neighborhood and overtime has gone incredibly downhill. It's a tossup when you go whether you will get horrible service or horrible food, sometimes both. If you order for takeout, they've significantly reduced the takeout trays where you barely get half a serving all for full price.
