    Roasted Duck Noodles
    Jeff F.

Some of the best noodle soup I've had in a while! Everything was delicious from the soup, noodles cooked perfectly, meats tasty. The sauces that come with the noodles are great especially the homemade roasted chili sauce. Perfect with the Hoy- Ka special. Very friendly staff in there as well. Restaurant is nicely decorated and clean. Will be back for sure!

This place is pretty good my favorite is the chicken kra pao over rice (always differently named but still similar) I enjoyed it. Partner got the pad Thai. He works at Netflix across the street and comes here weekly because he loves it so much. He gets it super spice. A friend got the fried rice and there wasn't a single grain left on his plate! The service was great. The servers were very tentative and ontop of it all. The decor was good. Not loud music. All around great look to the place and flavor! I'd come back.

I was impressed by the quality and portion sizes of the food here at Hoy-Ka! We ordered the pad see ew and the portion was huge, it was literally double the size of the pad see ew of some "trying to be fancy" thai restaurants I've gone to. It was very tasty and had actual Chinese broccoli instead of American broccoli, which I feel like is a sign of a Thai restaurant that's less authentic. We also ordered the pad kaprow (basil ground chicken) over rice and it was really flavorful. A bit too salty to eat on its own but it paired really well with the rice to soak up the sauce. The basil flavor really comes through. The red curry was just okay, the portion was huge yet again which I appreciated. But the curry flavor was lacking, it was kind of overpowered with the creaminess and sweetness of the coconut milk. I wish it had a bit more curry flavor coming through. Overall I'd come again to try out their other dishes. Solid place to come for great portions and pricing.

I have been coming to original hoy ka restaurant since 2 other venues before- I believe original place had about 4-5 tables. Venue: the can accommodate good amount of tables. Has more of a little modern look than what it used to be with high tops. Food: over 2 decades I've tried many dishes from here. Hoyka soup noodle is THE best and my most favorite noodle soup -Ever. I used to drive all the way from OC just to eat this bowl- then fly from Hi to eat this and now from NC to eat this. They used to have half size bowl but I see that they don't offer this anymore. Hoyka dry noodle is also amazing - full of flavor- savory- sweet- sour and you can use condiments to customize the flavor of your preference. Must try the boat noodle as well. Dark and deep beef soup. Just writing this review is making me salivate. Jerky and sticky rice is also great app. All is all, the best of the best in the US. Price: I don't know why I keep reflecting on price over 20 years ago.. which I miss. But I guess it is reasonable price.

One of the best Thai places in Hollywood. And they have valet. Cozy place. We went for a Monday lunch. It was more than half full with people. We got three plates. A drunken noodle, Crispy Pork Broccoli and Chicken Curry. The noodles were cooked well. The Broccoli also had good flavors. And Curry was not too salty. And portions were good for two adults and a toddler. Everything tasted original. Service was very friendly.

we were able to get seated right away on a Saturday night for a table of 4 which was a bit worrisome at first because really good Thai places tends to be packed. But we were surprised with how good everything was. The bbq was tender and juicy. The papaya salad alongside fresh shirk tasted refreshing. The soup tasted just like the one I had from Thailand. Everything else had really good and rich flavors. The place is clean

I never knew there's so many Thai restaurants in the Los Angeles/Hollywood area. Coming from a fun day of playing "tourist" in LA; we were looking for a spot to eat and Hoy-Ka Thai came up. Seeing it was located on Sunset Blvd, I knew there would be plenty of restaurants around in this area. We lucked out with finding some neighborhood parking on the street and walked over. The restaurant is fairly small but there is ample seating and for a late weekend lunch, it was moderately full. We started off our meal here with the Sneaky Pork appetizer ($13.00). The name was definitely intriguing and it was a dish that has grilled pork marinated in the restaurant's special sauce and topped with garlic chili oil. It is accompanied with Chinese broccoli. This was a great starter. I loved the flavors. The marinade was quite tasty and really brought out a sweet and savory flavor to the pork. They also cooked the Chinese broccoli just right and it paired well with the grilled pork. Next up, we had the Khao Soi with crispy pork ($17). I loved this curry noodle soup that had both flat noodles and crispy noodles. We got it with medium spice and it really brought out a fiery kick in the coconut broth. The crispy pork was perfectly crisp and crunchy. This was easily my favorite from our meal here. Our third dish that tried was the Chicken Massaman Curry ($18). This dish comes with marinated chicken in coconut milk with potatoes, peanut and onion. I got this with mild spice. This dish had a slightly sour undertone to it. I thought the flavor profile of this dish was interesting and unique but I would probably pass on it next time. Overall, I enjoyed my visit here at Hoy Ka Thai in Hollywood. (Fun fact - read on a banner in the restaurant that Hoy Ka means "Dangling Legs." I believe it's basically their way of saying - sit down, enjoy the meal here and dangle the legs.)

Great noodles, I don't know how authentic it was but coming from a Viet born I really like the tomyum soup and sweet dessert

This is a local favorite Thai spot of mine. Super easy and casual, with really good food. I've come in on a Sunday morning for Thai-style breakfast, and also in the evenings for dinner. Of the staples that I love, the Satay and Pad Thai of course, but also the Western Sausage, Drunken Noodles and the Chinese Broccoli with Crispy Pork.

The last time I visited Hoy Ka was about 6 years ago but did not recognize the name when we were looking for Thai restaurants to try around Hollywood. I arrived at the restaurant and was reminded by their one of a kind decor. I ordered the duck noodles and hubby ordered Penang curry. Both were yummy as I remembered but for some reason we felt that the dishes were lukewarm and portion was on the smaller side.

Ordered the chicken satay for $13. Good size pieces of chicken. Very tender. Free valet parking in the back.

My all time favorite Thai restaurant. I've been coming here for years but not as much as I would like to because life has just been so busy but whenever there's a chance for us to come, it's definitely a treat. Nothings changed after all these years besides the price (lol) but it's still as good as I remembered it to be. I love you, Hoy-Ka!

They offer valet parking around the corner because parking is currently under construction. We got the Kra Pao with ground pork, pad see eww, and Thai iced tea. All were fantastic. Prices were good. We'll be back!

Is there anything that might be safe to enjoy here for someone with nightshade allergies (tomatoes, potatoes, eggplant, peppers including red pepper spices)?

Hi there, I need to place in order for pick-up for tomorrow. I was going to do this online through grub hub. It would be for 10 people and needs to be ready by 11:30am. Is that possible? I know the restaurant opens at 11. Thanks!

Are you able to accommodate a group of 10 adults?

Yes but expect to wait. Or try to get a reservation on a weekday, on the weekend. Get there early and wait!

Do you cater? My son is getting married on Tuesday June 11, 2019. We are providing the rehearsal dinner for 30 people. I have chafing pans and want to order 6 items for 30 people. ?? I liked your reviews. We are from out of town. Janice

Udon noodles were good, but it was not excellent. It did have light chewy texture. BUT in comparison to Meiji Seimen, it fell short, really short! I was disappointed. BEEF BOWL It was delicious! Beef was tender and moist and loved the caramelized onion too. Rice was delicious too, not dry nor mushy. Served with pickled red ginger. A very satisfying bowl. Sat at the bar, so watched them make udon from scratch, which was nice. WAIT LIST There was a line when I got there, just as it opened. It wasn't long, but everyone wrote their name down on a wait list. There's a sheet of paper placed on the table outside. Please write your name down ASAP, as that will help in making sure that you will grab a seat. Also, the lines are disorganized too, so it's best to write down your name, so no one cuts in front of you. It is a small restaurant. Limited seats. CUSTOMER SERVICE It was okay. Everyone got in the restaurant in the order they came in. Service was quick and there were no delays in taking orders. The server came by quickly and dropped off the check as she saw that I was nearly finished with my meal. PARKING Parked at Joe's Autoparks. It was $15! I did not know until after I paid the ticket. Very difficult to find parking in this area, so not many options unless you want to walk really far, back to your car in 90 degree heat. There was another parking garage next to Joe's, but the price was the same! Would I come back again? Not sure. Given that the udon wasn't what I expected, it may be my last time here. Also, parking sucks.

On our latest visit we took the Metro, exited at Wilshire/Normandie Station, and walked 8 minutes over. The restaurant seems to have updated their décor to a more modern and new look since my last visit. Also they have introduced a lot of new menu items, so it felt like an appropriate time to update my review and renew my support for the business. On prior visits I have tried both the Clam Kalguksu ($22.99) and the Chicken Kalguksu ($22.99). Both are delicious depending on what protein you are craving. The broth is incredible soothing and great for a cold day or just anytime you need comfort food. The noodles are chewy and pillowy soft, it just melts in your mouth. When we arrived on our latest visit it was as busy and popular as I remembered. We were lucky that they were able to seat us right away. This latest visit my boyfriend and I tried new items from their menu. My boyfriend had the Tokmanuguk ($20.99) which has rice cakes, dumplings, beef, egg, and carrot in their anchovy broth. I had the Chicken Jook ($23.99) which is the Korean version of a chicken porridge that comes with half a small chicken, green onions, garlic, toasted sesame seeds, squash, onions and topped off with a smidge of sesame oil. Our meals came with a little palette cleansing introduction of barley rice. Just a few bites, but it sets up your tastebuds for the meal. They also had some side dishes for the table. The food took a while to come out, but understandable for how busy they are. This food is made with love and your patience will be rewarded. When it came, it was SO DELICIOUS! I tried a bit of my boyfriend's food and it was so comforting. Perfect for those who like the chewiness of the Korean rice cakes or dumplings. I just love my chicken porridge a little more cause I'm obsessed with porridge whenever I can get it. I love how much vegetables Koreans are able to hide in their porridge while making the veggies so tiny, you won't even notice it. So healthy, delicious, and soothing. It was like a hug for my soul. Also, the portion was huge and both my boyfriend and I had a portion togo that was the size of another meal. You can't go wrong with their food here. I definitely want to make an effort to come back more often. Until next time!

I actually became aware of the existence of this restaurant *because* they had a happy hour sign out in front, advertising, among other things, $4 salmon poke "tacos" (which was definitely actually a tostada, but still), and $3 nigori sake to go with it, which sounded pretty bomb - when I passed by the sign on my way to an event at Death & Co nearby, I took note of it but wasn't interested in food. However, when I left that event, an event I thought was going to provide a lot more food than it actually did, I absolutely *was* interested in food, and remembered that the sign advertised not only a traditional happy hour (open until 6 weekdays, 2:30-5:30 Saturday/Sunday), but also the same prices during a reverse happy hour (8 to close weekdays, 9 to close on the weekend). Given it was, at that moment, just after 8 on a Wednesday, I knew exactly where I was going to get the second half of my dinner from. Funny enough, I will say, the salmon poke that drew me in, was just... good. Don't get me wrong, if I were offered them for free, I'd eat at *least* a dozen. They were quite tasty - also like 2 bites worth of food (so eating a dozen of them would not be remotely difficult to do.) Salmon poke is wonderful, but if I wanted poke, I'd go find a poke place - even $4 felt a bit pricey for the size (they're $6 when it isn't happy hour), so I'm glad I decided to also try their karaage. Their karaage is BOMB - some of the best I've had, honestly. $7 for a 4-piece order of their karaage, by contrast, feels like a very reasonable price, and $5 (during happy hour) an absolute steal. Great karaage, great sauce, super fulfilling. The happy hour on karaage would be enough of a draw by itself - but separate from that, so would the $3 happy hour on sake, including both a regular house cold sake and a nigori. As you can see from the picture, they also intentionally overpour their sake, which is not only a very pretty presentation, but also an impressive amount of sake for $3 (heck, for DTLA, a pretty impressive amount of sake even at their normal $5 price). They also have $6 happy hour shochu/sake/juice cocktails that looked pretty good, though I didn't try one. Service was great, too - sometimes you can tell a restaurant is less excited to serve someone who clearly just came in for a drink and a snack, but that was not my experience here. Verdict is, I definitely want to come back and try their ramen sometime, but I would definitely make sure to do it either before or after their prime dinner hour, to take advantage of happy hour pricing. (And I would definitely get more of that karaage as a side. I will probably also make a point to do so as a snack, subsequent to any future events I go to in the area that end around 8 on a weekday, as well, for as long as that happy hour remains such a draw, price-wise.)

Food (3/5): Pretty ok ramen! You come to Tsujita Artisan Noodle in Arts District for the Tsukemen…read more Their tsukemen is creamy with deep umami flavor. Their noodles have a bounciness and chewiness that hold the broth you dip your noodles in. I do wish the broth was hotter because the noodles are traditionally served cold. I've come here for their Naruto collaboration and to try their traditional ramen where their noodles come with the broth and it tastes significantly different than their tsukemen which I didn't have a liking to. It was missing some oomph that not only differentiates this ramen from others I've tasted before but also gets people to keep coming. Service (5/5): Quick service! Every time I've been there hasn't been a wait. Price (4/5): To compensate for taste I do think the price needs to be lowered a bit. The tsukemen to me was definitely worth it. Ambiance (4/5): Cute little modern shop. It won't fit many big parties but it is perfect for duos.

Their ramen noodles are always cooked perfectly (I like them a little firm) and their broths are super flavorful, their eggs cooked perfectly. I usually enjoy their spicy or black garlic broths which add extra kicks. Daikokuya can be busy throughout the day, but there servers and kitchen staff work hard to turn around orders and tables relatively quickly. Anytime is a good time for ramen from Daikokuya.

To be clear, you really can't go wrong with any of the restaurants on this street and I recommend just going with whichever one has the shortest wait when you show up. Thankfully we only had to wait about 20 minutes and got a table inside. There were 6 of us and they made us squeeze into a booth built for 4 which was a little annoying but we made it work. I ordered their signature Daikoku Ramen which was very flavorful and filling, just wish there had been more meat! My husband got the poke bowl with salmon and tuna which is a great dish for those on the protein grind. Service was mixed, they brought some dishes out immediately and then others in our group had to wait longer to get their food. Overall food was tasty and I would go back.
