Service was fast and staff were friendly. Crabs were meaty and seasoned well, not one light or empty crab. Parking is limited and they don't answer the phone nor does the phone even ring--this is the spot you want to get your crabs from because you won't be disappointed. The prices are fair and worth every penny unlike most other seafood places. Doesn't have a foul odor and it's pretty clean. It's located on the corner right next to a Chinese carry out and it's hard to miss if you're not paying attention. Never disappoints!!!! read more

This guy gets straight to the point. Parking gonna be a challenge. You gotta know where you're at. It's all about the seafood. I got six male regular crabs for $30. Of course you gotta get it seasoned down. They were ready for me in less than five minutes. They gave me one extra, which was so great for my big back. I visited here to grab some blue crabs to go. The pricing is pretty decent, $60 for a dozen, $30 for 1/2 a dozen. When I visited they had a special for $30 dozen and $15 half a dozen. The service was fast paced, and I received my order (a dozen of blue crabs with seasoning on the side) in less than 5 minutes. The seasoning was definitely overpowering, in a not so good way (EXTREMELY salty). So if you are visiting I recommend not getting them seasoned. You will have to reheat the crabs as well since only the shell was warmed and the inside was lukewarm to cold. I made my own butter and added boiled eggs, as this place does not add any bells and whistles--only the crabs and if you want shrimp you can add that as well. Would I return? Yes, but I know better not to order them either live or warmed with NO seasoning whatsoever. read more

If someone says they got their crabs from ruff and ready I'm not eating them. They always smell like ammonia and have speckles on the meat. Every single time I've gotten crabs from here they've been bad. Don't waste your money. read more

A good friend of mine bought us some crabs from here a few years ago and ever since this place has been my go to for crabs. The crabs are always good, meaty and large. They're expensive for sure but definitely worth it when you get good crabs each time. The staff is always nice and helpful. This is a hidden gem here in the Washington D.C. area. We're visiting our daughter but want to try the famous Maryland Blue Crabs without driving to Baltimore and we found this restaurant thru Yelp and it was awesome. They have fresh crabs that are huge and priced competitively. The meat is sweet and succulent and the best blue crabs we've had. The only draw back is they don't have a dining area but that's ok. Buy your own beer and a get bushel is the way to go. read more

I love Ruff N Ready Crab House. Some days, I get a hankering for some crab, and I hop in my car and drive over here. The parking sucks. But the crabs are very much worth it. They are always heavy and full of meat. In the past, I've opted for say, a half dozen medium crabs, but this last time, I opted for jumbos, and I bought 4 of them. That day, I could only eat two of them. and I was stuffed. I think it was very well worth the extra cost of the jumbos. Much less work and a lot more meat per crab. I've always been happy with the crabs that I get from ehre, and usually I'm not the only person who wants crabs. The staff at Ruff N Ready have always been kind to me, and I'm not sure how they do it, but the crabs are ready in no time. I always get the seasoning on the side, since sometimes they are more heavily seasoned than I would like. Since we can't eat there, I bring them home and then my car smells like delicious delicious steamed crabs. read more

Highly disappointing visit today (7/14/2024) for crab legs. Specifically asked for no seasoning only to receive my order with seasoning and no butter which resulted in salty crab legs! My go-to crab place as I grew up in the area! Good priced, meaty crabs that are steamed fresh with a perfect amount of seasoning. The shrimp is also cooked just right! To bring at a potluck, I got a dozen large males, two dozen females, and 42 shrimp. Also they sell wooden mallets! The place also can show you what the crab looks like/size before you order. Wow! Yes! So it's on the corner of a 3 way intersection you can't miss it. Love that I don't have to drive all the way to DC for crabs. It helps that there is a carry out right next door. The guys are very nice and it really is super yummy. It was 15.99$ per pound and the claws were about 1.5 pounds per bundle. We ended up getting 7 bundles of legs. Came out to 94$. For me, it beats buying them at a restaurant. Cheaper to get them like this. They were thick and full of meat. For our family it's easier to eat these than the blue crabs. My kids are too impatient to crack and find meat. I'd definitely come back! read more
