Of course you gotta get it seasoned down. They were ready for me in less than five minutes. They gave me one extra, which was so great for my big back. I visited here to grab some blue crabs to go. The pricing is pretty decent, $60 for a dozen, $30 for 1/2 a dozen. When I visited they had a special for $30 dozen and $15 half a dozen. The service was fast paced, and I received my order (a dozen of blue crabs with seasoning on the side) in less than 5 minutes. The seasoning was definitely overpowering, in a not so good way (EXTREMELY salty). So if you are visiting I recommend not getting them seasoned. You will have to reheat the crabs as well since only the shell was warmed and the inside was lukewarm to cold. I made my own butter and added boiled eggs, as this place does not add any bells and whistles--only the crabs and if you want shrimp you can add that as well. Would I return? Yes, but I know better not to order them either live or warmed with NO seasoning whatsoever. read more

This is a hidden gem here in the Washington D.C. area. We're visiting our daughter but want to try the famous Maryland Blue Crabs without driving to Baltimore and we found this restaurant thru Yelp and it was awesome. They have fresh crabs that are huge and priced competitively. The meat is sweet and succulent and the best blue crabs we've had. The only draw back is they don't have a dining area but that's ok. I love Ruff N Ready Crab House. Some days, I get a hankering for some crab, and I hop in my car and drive over here. The parking sucks. But the crabs are very much worth it. They are always heavy and full of meat. In the past, I've opted for say, a half dozen medium crabs, but this last time, I opted for jumbos, and I bought 4 of them. That day, I could only eat two of them. and I was stuffed. I think it was very well worth the extra cost of the jumbos. Much less work and a lot more meat per crab. I've always been happy with the crabs that I get from ehre, and usually I'm not the only person who wants crabs. The staff at Ruff N Ready have always been kind to me, and I'm not sure how they do it, but the crabs are ready in no time. I always get the seasoning on the side, since sometimes they are more heavily seasoned than I would like. Wow! Yes! So it's on the corner of a 3 way intersection you can't miss it. Love that I don't have to drive all the way to DC for crabs. It helps that there is a carry out right next door. The guys are very nice and it really is super yummy. It was 15.99$ per pound and the claws were about 1.5 pounds per bundle. We ended up getting 7 bundles of legs. Came out to 94$. For me, it beats buying them at a restaurant. Cheaper to get them like this. They were thick and full of meat. For our family it's easier to eat these than the blue crabs. My kids are too impatient to crack and find meat. I'd definitely come back! read more
