Our first time visiting. We had a reservation, but was still seated by the kitchen with all traffic. It took around 15 minutes for our wait staff to take a drink order. And they forgot to make my husbands drink, we had to ask where it was. We ordered the spinach and artichoke dip and it was amazing! Probably the best we have had. Our entrees were ribeye, reuben, scallopes with risotto, and chicken parm. About 20 minutes went by our wait staff came over to say they were out of the chicken parm. So I ordered scallops and risotto. We both did not care for the oil that was drizzled on the risotto. My husband never recieved his side salad. One member of our group ordered the double chocolate cake. We shared it. It was very very dry. What we had for food and service was not worth what our bill was. We were hoping for more. read more

We visited Ruhlman's for the first time on a Saturday evening. Although they were busy, we were pleasantly surprised to be seated before our 8:00 p.m. reservation. The food was very good, but unfortunately the service overshadowed the entire experience. We started at the bar while waiting for our table, and the bartender seemed much more focused on socializing than attending to waiting customers. She made eye contact with us several times but never acknowledged us or let us know she'd be with us shortly, leaving us feeling overlooked. After being seated, we waited more than 15 minutes before our server came to the table. When she did, there was little sense of hospitality or engagement. Any questions we asked seemed to catch her off guard, and the interaction felt awkward and unwelcoming. Good food can bring people in, but great service is what brings them back. I hope management invests in hospitality training because attentive, welcoming service is just as important as what's served on the plate. Unfortunately, the lack of service and hospitality overshadowed what was otherwise a very good meal. read more

My family and I came to Ruhlman's for my mom's birthday dinner. Plenty of parking out front. We had a reservation and our party of 5 was seated promptly. Our server was very friendly and attentive. I ordered a glass of red wine, and it was served cold (??) - the server told me it had to do with where the temperature of the room where they store their wine. They should figure that out because cold red wine was odd! The server did offer to make it right, but I decided to just let my wine warm up a bit. We also were served complimentary focaccia bread, but it was dry and lacking the usual flavor and texture of a focaccia bread. For appetizers, we ordered onion rings and spinach artichoke dip which were both good, but not overly unique or memorable. For dinner, I did the sirloin steak with mushrooms and fingerling potatoes. The presentation of the dish was lacking; everything was just kind of thrown on the plate. They did offer my mom a birthday dessert of a skillet cookie and ice cream, which was very delicious! Overall, for the price and being a "fancy steakhouse", I felt it was lacking in many ways. But for the Ashland area, this is probably a great addition. I wouldn't go out of my way to return, and I think you can probably get an equally good steak down the road for a lot less money. read more

We went for brunch after hearing great things about this place. Our waitress was wonderful but unfortunately they were the best part of our experience. As we unrolled the silverware we had to ask for a replacement because dried food was on the knife. Not a great start but it happens. I ordered the stuffed French toast. As I was eating the first portion I see a disturbing green spot within the body of the bread. It was obviously mold. The waitress noticed I had pushed my plate aside and when I pointed out why she apologized and brought my plate back to the kitchen. That's when things got even worse. I could hear the chef argue that it was green from the strawberry stems (none of the strawberries had leaves) and that I was wrong. So not only did they serve a moldy dish, the chef is unavailable to recognize obviously moldy bread and insists on continuing to serve it. I am usually reluctant to post 1 star reviews, but this is a health and safety issue. read more

Unfortunately, this was not the atmosphere of a steakhouse. It was very loud, and I felt had more of a cafeteria type atmosphere. Although the food was tasty, my husband's shrimp pasta was extremely disappointing. The shrimp was buried under the sauce, and 2 of the 4 shrimp HADN'T been peeled. Have you ever tried to peel shrimp that is in a sauce? When we brought this to our server's attention, she stated that she had received numerous complaints about this dish all night long. When I suggested she speak to the manager, she stated he didn't have much "power" to do anything. Hmmm....then who does? My cheesesteak was tasty, but so dry in the bun, that when I tried to dip it into my au jus, all the ingredients would fall out. Why not put the meat in an just to moisten, then put on bun. Safe to say this was a one and done for us. We got takeout tonight, and the price simply doesn't reflect the quality. The arancini was fine, but the rice lacked any kind of seasoning. My side Caesar salad (that I paid extra for) came without dressing. My burger was fine, but the bun was mushy. They also didn't ask how I wanted the burger done, which seems odd for a steakhouse. My husband had the short rib lasagna, and while the flavor was decent the portion size was small and the pasta was basically mush. Hard pass on this one. read more

Honestly, the reviews are exactly like you would expect. We ordered the charcuterie board to start, and it was probably the most "meh" one I've ever had. Interesting meat choices and there was no explanation of what was on the board. One of the meats look like a very dark-colored prosciutto (we also had regular prosciutto as well) and the one of the cheddar cheese cubes was especially darker and looked rock hard. My entrée was a filet with broccolini and truffle fries. Filet was a 7/10 (cooked fine but had a slight weird gamey aftertaste), broccoli was cooked fine but didn't taste seasoned, and fries were probably the best of the three. Service was good, would highly recommend buttoning down all the recipes and steak sourcing (and cooking method). For what this place cost, I would highly recommend going to Texas roadhouse. read more

There are so many good things about Ruhlman's and some that aren't. First, I loved the space. There were a lot of seating options, but it didn't feel crowded. Waiter was friendly and polite. As far as food, I felt like the appetizers and sides were the star of the show. Especially, the million dollar mushrooms, carrots, and garlic stuffed potatoes. However, the steak was really disappointing. I got mine rare and it looked perfectly cooked with a nice char on both sides. BUT, it was tough and very chewy. We recently had our 50th Wedding Anniversary Party at Ruhlman's Steakhouse in Ashland after enjoying a wonderful dinner there a few weeks earlier. The quality of steak alone is well worth the drive from Omaha, Lincoln, or anywhere. The other menu items got rave reviews from our guests as well. We could not have had a better night. The service was impeccable, and we were so impressed that all the food came out at once and was piping hot. Great spot in Ashland for a night out whether you are on a date or with family! Start off by saying best Cesar salad we have had in a very long time! Steak was cooked to perfection and pasta you could tell was homemade. Our waitress was kind and attentive. Only downside was my wedge salad had a bit too much dressing on it. Lettuce was swimming in it. They have their own wine and whiskey. Meat market next door. Dessert came out in a skillet. Some parts were burnt but overall tasted great. The ambiance and environment are probably the best thing about this restaurant. Our server was new to being a server and didn't really know what she was doing. After she brought our food we never saw her again to tell her how our food was. There were very few wine options on the menu and they weren't very good. Our steaks came out rare, our bread was overcooked, and our baked potatoes were burnt to a crisp. We were told they were out of two of the things we tried to order off their menu. Celebrated someone's day of birth last night at the newest addition to good ole, Ashland NE. Right off Hwy 6 on the south side, is a BOOMING building of clinks and clanks of empty dishes, empty wine glasses, and dinner plates get shoved around on their epic back patio (which I royally failed you in not snapping a picture!). But that's ambience right?! The FOOD is what we came for, having never been since they recently opened up the steakhouse. Which.. if I'm honest, I didn't smell any steakhouse.. odors.... so I kinda felt that was, different? Maybe it's part of their open design, where there's no sounds of meat being seared, no smells of garlic, or smells of.. anything? Not even a waft outside.. or maybe I've actually never been to a *real* steakhouse? OK... so.. we snagged their Scallop Risotto, The Genevieve, Garlic Grilled Shrimp, and a side order of their Family Style Crab Fried Rice (interesting side dish, so had to order it!). As well as their Express; their version of an espresso martini (). Their side salads, that came with each entree, had real live lettuce! No no, I mean some well thought out lettuce, not the colorless iceberg. It also comes with Rosemary Focaccia sans the rosemary, sadly. Great texture, soft and chewy. The scallops I felt could've been left on a tad bit longer and I prefer them a little more "sturdy" and at least, warm. The shrimps, were excellent in flavor and thankfully had the doo cleaned out (always a plus!). The center cut top sirloin was done how it was asked to be, and you know broccolini is always ... Interesting take on the garlic baked potatoe I will admit; semi warm, with a slice of cheese, covering a divot filled with all sorts of roasted cream cheese, garlic and herbed garlic butter. Was the divot ingredients melted? No.. not at all.... The crab fried rice, with little shavings of furikake dusted over it, wasn't terrible. I appreciated the use of jasmine rice (such flavor!), and the bits of crab that are actually visible to the eye. Would I order it again, probably not. But when in Rome.. Our waiter was great. When asked a question about The Genevieve, he was willing to find another to get the questioned answered rather than just dismissing it, or blowing if it. Much appreciated for sure! You WILL have to speak up to your foodie companion a bit, but there's also an outdoor patio too. A tad bit of a wait from when you're seated, to seeing someone (ehh about 17mins or so) but by the time our waiter was able to come around, we were ready to order steps 1, 2 and 3! read more

Have definitely been eyeing Ruhlman's to try and was excited we finally went. The location is huge and has lots of seating. We had a great waitress who was very attentive and additional staff that was prompt with water and plate clean up. Favorites were the Mac and cheese bites, ribeye, skillet cookie and fresh bread. Unfortunately I ordered the special and was confused when it arrived as it was not what I was expecting nor something I enjoyed. Overall we had a great experience and would definitely come back. I would love to see a wider range on their cocktail menu as nothing caught my eye however the wine menu was extensive. read more

Ambiance was nice and it was busy night when we had our reservation. Despite that our server did an excellent job. Foodwise, we ordered wood fired oysters, filet, New York strip, fingerling potatoes, million dollar mushrooms, Brussels, and the cheese stuffed potatoes. The steaks were okay. Both were under seasoned ...I'd avoid the strip all together.. Filet was cooked well but just okay. Cheese stuffed potatoes and Brussels were very tasty and the potatoes were unique and definitely worth trying. Tried the cheesecake for dessert. I loved the pesto at the bottom of the dish but my husband was not a fan. We each ordered an entree - the pork secreto for me and the filet for my husband. Ruhlman's makes a delicious potato and no one can take that away from them! My husbands steak didn't have a sear and wasn't terribly flavorful. My pork was tough but the sauce was fantastic. The upgraded Brussels sprouts were undercooked - by a lot! We really enjoyed our cocktails - old fashioned and blueberry mule (Etta Jean) and topped off our meal with the famous skillet cookie - which was amazing! The steaks were spot on! Tender and seasoned just right. Had a classic martini which very good as well. And, the house red was nice, although I thought the pour was a bit small in my opinion....... The place was packed on a Friday night. We managed to get in because we arrived early. The ambiance is a nice casual. A bit on the loud side, also, my opinion. The service was good, just the correct amount of attention. We did not get a chance to try the desert menu, but it looked very good as well. We will return! read more

We went last night a party of 6 adults. We had a reservation and were immediately seated and our orders taken in a very timely manner. Naturally with 6 adults all our orders were somewhat different. The waiter got everything exactly correct and equally important so did the chef. I had the Delmonico Rib Eye and it was absolutely delicious. It was so large that I intended to take half home,but it was so perfectly cooked and so good I ate it all. Everyone at our table was very happy with their steaks and agreed they were delicious. We live in West Omaha and Ruhlman's is well worth the drive. The service was also top notch and the restaurant is very clean. We took some friends to Ruhlman's for dinner last night. Bragging about the two great experiences we have had. What a disappointment, from service to food quality. The waiter was exhausted and had no interest in serving us. The average wait time for a drink order was 20 minutes. Then we ordered two tasty appetizers. They ordered dinner, which came. Dinner presentation looked good over overcooked steak, cold lasagna, and scallops. The manager came over to try to make it right. But we were over the experience, so they comped two of the meals. We had a party of 12 on 6/21/25 with a 6:30 reservation. We showed up promptly at 6:30. The greeting was wonderful and we were led to the back room for larger parties. We put in our initial drink orders, which were filled promptly and we were all enjoying ourselves. Gradually, we were forgotten. Waters ran dry. Orders were never taken. Drinks were finished. There were brief interactions with our waitress, but she (assuming pronouns) never addressed the whole table or made an effort to gauge the satisfaction of the table. It's currently 8:22pm (6:30 reservation). We finally got our waters refilled (after asking) and got our food orders in. We were also served complimentary bread at about 8pm. I loved the comfortable home feeling. The homemade bread was really good. The asparagus was not good. The cheesy mushrooms were too salty for my taste. Steak wasn't very good. It had fat in it. I was glad I went, but I would've preferred the taste of Texas roadhouse. It was really fun though and an interesting restaurant for such a small town. It is fairly pricey. I got the ribeye with Brussels and twice baked potato and side shrimp. Got the steak medium rare and it was tough and chewy. I had to spit it out and could not finish. Brussels were hardly cooked and potato had like no taste to it. It was like a dry potato. Over all dissatisfied and would not go back. Would not recommend. We were pleasantly surprised with this new steakhouse in Ashland. We had heard it was good and had to try it ourselves. Jordan offered exceptional service as we ordered our meals. The crab rice was delicious and not something you expect as a starter at a steakhouse. My ribeye was prepared medium rare per my order and the crispy potatoes were a hit. Loved the bourbon glazed carrots as well. Nice build out but just a little loud in the main dining room but not too bad. We will be back. read more
