It is so great to see Rim Bay open again after hurricane Milton. This was their first day after the storm! Great to see friendly faces, Campi, Michele, Brendon. Good crowd with everyone happy to see them, Open. The community certainly needed it.

    Flash Seared Tuna

This was located on a private resort only accessible by boat, ferry, or water taxi. It was a decent sized spot with a gift shop attached and a small bar present as well with a few televisions. The service was friendly as the food came out in a timely manner. 5 appetizers were ordered and my thoughts on each are below. Coconut Shrimp ($11.75) - This came with 6 shrimps present and a sweet Thai chili sauce. These were excellent. I am usually not a big fan of coconut flavored foods, but these were an exception. They had a perfect amount of batter and just enough coconut flavor where it was not too strong of a flavor. The sauce helped too. Key West Conch Fritters ($11) - There were 6 fritters present and they came with a mustard sauce. The fritters were a tad dry, but the mustard sauce helped with that. The filling was just okay. Island Wings ($15) - There were 10 wings and the 24k sauce was ordered. It consisted of a BBQ and honey mustard sauce combined. I never saw something like this before, so I had to give it a try. It was very good. The sweetness from the honey mustard combined with the smokiness of the BBQ sauce made for an interesting sauce. I wish there was even more sauce present!! Flash Seared Tuna ($12.25) - This came with a wakame salad and a dipping soy sauce. The tuna was seared ideally while the salad was light. The sauce helped enhance the overall tuna flavor as well. Thai Egg Rolls ($9.75) - This also had 6 pieces along with the sweet Thai chili sauce. The egg rolls were very crispy and had plenty of filling present. Will I go back? I would.

The restaurant on the island. Lots of good choices for some tropical food. Started with a couple of rum drinks. Loaded with great rum. Got the egg rolls to start. Pretty tasty and cooked pretty good. Would later decide these were the best things we would have. I got their duck. It was ok. It was a little overdone and dry but when mixed with their swamp sauce it was pretty good. Really liked the flavors on the steamed broccoli and the rice was cooked Goo Deb had the ribs and shrimp combo. Ribs here too were overdone and dry. A little chewy. Fries were....meh at best Over all ok. I think we would come here for apps and drinks. Some say the pizza is good so we'll try that next time Shoutout to Edward our server. He was friendly and tried to steer us in the write direction for food choices. Also the bartender was making great drinks too!

    Mahi Tacos - Good
    S S.

A fantastic place to eat..........in times past. Went there on 3/28/23 expecting the great quality food we USED to get and was very disappointed. The grouper sandwich was a very small piece of fish for $26. It tasted good but was very small for the price. The accompanying fries were very good. We ordered calamari and got a Mrs. Pauls fish stick like stuff. Not even sure it was squid. It looked more like deflated french fries or dehydrated apple slices. Tasted fishy and chewy. I would not even offer these on the menu to my guests if this is the only thing I could get. Now, in contrast, I saw some nice plates coming out with Fish and Chips, burgers, and Mahi tacos. I told our server, Pheonix, that the calamari was not good so I hope that she passed that along to the manager. I've had good ribs in the past so IF we go back, I'll just get the burger or ribs.

These are dead bugs and dirt all over the walls, ceiling and doors where the waitresses come in and out of with food and drinks.

The fries and Cole slaw sides were also good. Our challenge was with the water taxi. We had two service dogs ‍n training (from an ADI accredited school) with us. We tried to explain the Florida Statute that our dogs have all the access a matched service dog has. He would have no part of this and accused us of bullying him. We did no such thing. My hope is that the business owners will review Chapter 413, Section 8 of the Florida Statute to know the law.

There was about a 25 minute wait before we had a table. The food took quite awhile and they felt bad enough to give us a free key lime pie to take home. The food was average at best but it's all part of the experience. The dining room is dated but it doesn't keep people away since it was packed. We had a fun night and would do it again.

Initially we were excited to find my husband's favorite wine, KJ Merlot, at this place, but it took a long time to get it to the table as our server had higher priorities. Hubby ordered fried fish and when it was served by a food runner, the outside breading was ridiculously dark. Hubby said the fish was overcooked, but okay; however, the french fries were undercooked. I ordered the chicken breast topped with crab dip. I got a small taste from my fork and the flavor was good. Unfortunately, I had to saw with my knife to try and get through the chicken. It was rubbery as if cooked in a microwave and was not edible. I sent it back to the kitchen. I was not interested in trying anything else at this point and just waited for hubby to finish eating. Wish I remembered to snap a picture. I don't recommend this restaurant - there are plenty of good places around, and we are trying as many as we can.

I started with the pain pill cocktail - their version of a pain killer. It was really tasty. It came in a very tall glass with some cinnamon sprinkle. The pineapple was fresh. While I looked over the menu, she brought out some warm crusty rolls with salted butter. Yummmmm. I was famished so I dug in. They had so many things on the menu I was a bit in information overload. I started with the coconut shrimp, which they say is a house specialty. The dipping sauce was interesting - like a cold coconut milk? The shrimp were butterflied and lightly fried. There is four on the plate. Pretty good. For dinner, I had the fresh catch with mashed potatoes and the zucchini medley. The medley had zucchini. squash, onions and red bell pepper in it. They have other sides like sweet potato as well. You get your choice of two. The entree came with a side salad. It was a small portion. It had some sweet candied nuts on it, with some shredded mixed cheese and a side of their house French dressing. Some of the pieces of lettuce were really long so it was kinda messy to eat. The red snapper was my choice of fresh catch. I asked for it grilled but the other option is blackened. The fish was a good portion. About 6 to 8 ounces. The mashed potatoes were delicious. I enjoyed my meal and I was too stuffed for dessert. But I saw the bread pudding with ice cream at another table. Wow! The scoop of ice cream on that dish was huge! The key lime ice cream pie sounded interesting and I imagine they have a good tiramisu. Next time I'll get dessert. Service was stellar. I was not bothered but I was checked on often for another drink and water etc. plates were cleared often but did not distract me. I really enjoyed being outside because they had a one man band playing guitar and singing so wonderfully. It's a gorgeous setting outside. A bit warm, but I was gross from golf anyways. They do have quite a few fans but I'm glad I was away from them. I hate when I'm trying to eat and it's all I can do to keep my hair from blowing in my face and mouth from overzealous ceiling fans. Bathrooms are clean and well stocked. Parking is a private lot out front and I easily found a space. This place was recommended by a coworker. I am so glad I took her recommendation!

(First of all, the word Bistro refers to French style cooking not Italian.) The reviews we read indicated that Isabella's would be worth trying. It isn't. If you are from the mid-West and think Pizza Hut serves excellent pizza, this restaurant is for you because you have never experienced genuine Italian cuisine. It takes a long time to get your food. It should not take 40 minutes to get your salad. It was warm and wilted. Isabella's must have a tiny kitchen or a very sparse kitchen staff. My pasta dish was smothered in mozzarella. As was my wife's Sampler dish of rollatini, manicotti, and lasagna. Manicotti should be light and savory covered only in a delicious sauce, not buried under a heavy layer of mozzarella. By the way, the sauce is too salty. The Chicken Francese dish was too soggy to enjoy. You can pick up the bread at any supermarket. I thought the dipping oil was excellent, nothing else. The preparation of the food is at best only mediocre. The ladies on the staff were very nice and they work very hard. Isabella's could be better. The chef needs to spend a month travelling around Italy, especially Sicily, to update Isabella's recipes. The restaurant is always packed, so there must be many non-Italians who think this is good Italian food.
