Two hours of my life I'll never get back. This place was terrible. We were sat pretty quickly - and that was that. After about 20 minutes I had to go ask the hostess if she could let our server know she'd been sat. After about 10 more minutes the waitress who had evidently drawn the short straw showed up. We would have left, but everywhere else had a huge waiting list by this point, although this place wasn't that busy - which should have been a red flag. We ordered drinks and food at once because we'd had ample time to look at the menu and we had two hungry babies. About 45 minutes later we got our edible but lackluster food, which we wolfed down because we were starving by then. Once the waitress returned we tried to tab out and get the hell out of dodge as quickly as possible. We were not the only people having that dining experience. The restaurant was full of hungry angry looking people and yet there seemed to be no stream of food flowing from the kitchen and the front of the house staff was running around like chickens with their head's cut off, although, again, they weren't that busy. Came here last week while on vacation. We were staying in the Sandestin resort, so the location was convenient. I was looking forward to some good seafood and entertainment. We were seated by the stage and were pretty bummed about the overwhelming sound coming from the speakers. It felt like we were at a heavy metal concert trying to talk to each other. The waitress even had a hard time taking our orders because it was so loud. The piano players expected several dollar tips to play a song. They passed up someone's request because she only tipped them $2, pretty tacky, in my opinion... I ordered the blackened grouper and the rest of my party ordered alfredo. None of which was any better quality than something you could get at Chili's or Applebee's. As for the drinks, my piña colada was good, but was pretty weak. To top off the night, my brother-in-law cut his tongue pretty badly on a shard of glass that was in the bottom of his rum runner. Rum Runners was a pleasant surprise. The one man "I can play anything" guy was just getting started when we arrived in the early evening (6ish), he was good, a lot of fun and truly did play all the songs we requested or at least a piece of a song like Eddie Murphy's Party All The Time-yes, we tried to stump him :) I guess he's the warm up for the dueling piano show, which we didn't stick around to see. We had a 3 year old with us and you could tell the vibe was starting to change as the night went on, not in a bad way just not for a youngster. The food & drinks were good and reasonably priced, the service excellent. I'm sure I won't come again until more out of towners visit but when they do this will be on my list of places to bring them. read more

Couldn't even stomach ordering one beverage here. This bar smelled like 1,000 individual Indians performed a marathon bikram hot yoga session after bathing in sewage water. If you happen to enjoy drinking in porta-potties then this is the place for you. Our group was bombarded by the stench of vomit and beer grime upon entering, so needless to say we walked right back out. No review of the food or drinks. We went as a party of 5 adults & 4 kids (3 booster seats & a high chair!) The food was awesome, we tried the nachos, coconut shrimp, & tasted the filet & ribeye. It was all good. The drinks are absolutely mouthwatering. Next time I come, I will plan to make a night of it ;) The service was awesome, I believe our servers name was Shira and we loved her. Stopped in for a drink while walking through Baytown when we realized the dueling pianos were about to begin in a few minutes. The drinks were pretty awful, I'm not gonna lie. I got a margarita at first and I'm not sure if it was the margarita mix they used or what but it was sooo disgustingly salty I could barely drink it. Then I tried the rum runner with the hopes that it'd be better considering it's their signature drink but unfortunately it was equally as bad. I got a chicken quesadilla which was pretty good. The entertainment was fun although the two guys made so many comments regarding the amount of tips they were receiving that it started to get tacky and we left. read more

Our family had to sit in two tables on opposite ends (that's not the problem), the other half of our family had finished eating by the time we had FINALLY received our (wrong) drinks. The waiter had an attitude and made snarky comments to us. After we spoke to the manager, he did not come over for 40 minutes. We're pretty sure he forgot to put in our food order considering it told almost an hour and a half to FINALLY get to us, including the salad I had ordered. One of our burgers was BURNT to a crisp and had the wrong cheese, and another had a burnt, fried piece of chicken (?), which is pictured below. The music was obnoxiously loud to the point where you had to yell to talk. The food that was correct was good, nothing special but wasn't bad. Manager Charlie was accommodating and professional. This is one of those places that tries to feel "authentic" and lacks all the qualities of being a local authentic joint, like unique menu items, it's own flair etc. If you want a decent fish sandwich you're safe here, but don't expect your food, service or atmosphere to blow you out of the water. Probably the only really interesting about this place was the cocktail "Angry Balls" Angry Orchard mixed with a shot of Fireball...didn't order it but plan on making it! read more

I had such high hopes for Rum Runners. I thought it might be a great hangout spot. We walked in and were hit with such a smell. I wondered if someone left some fruit out on the bar for a while. Gross. We ordered a drink anyway - their special rum runner. It was just nasty. It had so much booze in it, which would have been great if I were 20. The taste was just jarring - like felt it all the way to my toes and may have blown my hair back (but not in a good, Whitesnake video kind of way). Didn't finish our drinks. The tab was quite high for the two drinks. The music was ok - the dueling pianos is a fun concept, but I kind of think it's overdone. But the pianists were having a good time and did a good job getting the crowd involved. I did see some people eating, but we decided to go elsewhere, since the smell was unpleasant and the drink so bad. read more

Food was decent and the service was ok. Love the dueling pianos. Just be sure that if you have kids with you, that you are aware that they kick the kids out at 10. We've been on a previous occasion and the waitress took another round of drink orders at 9:45 and then they kicked us out at 10. Hopefully it was just an oversight on the wait staff's part and she wasn't just trying to get a higher bar tab in there. I do think the no kids after 10 rule should be displayed around the restaurant. If you are out of there by 10, it is a fun place. read more

Good food and good entertainment, waitress however gave herself a tip out of my friends change without their permission and then disappeared ( maybe shift change) she would have probably gotten the same amount but it was the principle of it, very sneaky thing to do, watch your money if you eat here. She the waitress after giving her credit cards and cash for payment from 3 couples stayed gone for nearly 30 minutes before returning, very suspicious activities. We could have complained to manager but decided to just let to let it go. Yelp review might be more effective, you decide. Ate here on vacation because it was the only place able to accommodate our party of 7 lol! Lol not bad, but not great. The mahi mahi was pretty good as well was the ahi ahi, but there wasn't much to the menu and it was LOUD!! Really not a place for younger children. The service was great though when you could hear them talking to you. At 10pm it turns into a night club and everyone under 21 has to leave bc of Florida law. For the place that this is, it's a good place. And they have been very flexible. There is a big party scene downstairs and another more chill bar upstairs, even a side room for more quiet talking volume space. The owner was very nice to let people in early to watch some World Cup soccer. That shows me that our patronage is valued here, not taken for granted. The food is food. The drinks are drinks. The husband and I stopped in last night (a Saturday) and it was dead. Decided to give it a chance since they had "dueling pianos" but the show was lackluster at best. Volume was far too loud for the less than 15 guests that were inside. Nonetheless, opted to sit at the bar and try it out. Ended up ordering an appetizer and leaving. They had Smoked Tuna Dip which we've seen around and want to at lest try (It's not something we've witnessed in Texas). It turned out to be very basic cold tuna salad (only tuna and mayo) with a smokey flavor. For some reason we were expecting something closer to a hot spinach/artichoke-y kind of thing but I supposed that's what we get for assuming. The bartender was friendly but other than that, this place is overpriced and classifies as "eat here only as a last resort." Bummer considering we only have 3 nights in Destin. read more

We grabbed some nachos and drinks to watch a concert on the lawn. Great seats for an event. The nachos were pretty gross, bland and generic. The French fries with the kids meal weren't bad. The live music in the restaurant after the outside concert was enjoyable. Unfortunately like most of these places, it's a great location so they don't have to focus on good food. read more

Came here with my family. We sat ourselves and waited a little while for the waitress. It appeared that she had several tables, so she may have been a little overloaded. They prominently feature Blue Moon beer on the menu, but were out of it, bummer. Ordered another draft beer; please know they come in small, maybe 10 ounce, cups. The food was decent, not great. The dueling pianos were fun & entertaining. The waitress knew nothing about pre-bussing. After we finished drinks and ordered another the empties just sat there. Finally I simply just grabbed them myself and threw them away. If you are looking for a nice place to watch a game with friends or enjoy the dueling pianos, this is a good option. I've been going to Rum Runners for years. It used to be a regular spot for us, but over the years the food, service and entertainment has declined, and we have frequented it less. Made my last trip there last night. The food was bland and expensive for what we got (a chicken nacho appetizer and 4 glasses of house Merlot were $54.) The waiter asked us if we wanted to cash out after he brought us the appetizer, we declined and ordered two more glasses, but when he brought our wine, he brought the check. We paid and didn't see him again. We were forced to go to the bar after that for drinks even though there were waiters and waitresses all around. We weren't on their radar. One of the reasons we stopped going is that they started making the college fight song scene a regular part of every set. Sometimes more than once. If you're unfamiliar with it, they start playing a fight song and demand a large tip to stop playing it. When they get that tip, they start playing another. They keep going demanding larger and larger tips to change songs until people stop paying. If you don't mind listening to Rocky Top or some other song, for 10 minutes, you might like it, but I wouldn't want to hear Rocky Top for 10 minutes even if I went to school there. Seems to be a good money maker for the entertainers though. They've always suggested that young children leave at 10:00 because the entertainers get a little raunchy, but last night they started announcing that anyone under 21 needed to leave. We ignored because the only ones in our party under 21 were our daughter and her friend who are both 20 and because they've never made us leave even when our kids were young children. At 11:00 an employee came to our table and started checking IDs and told us it was state law that you had to be 21 or over. The only law that I can find for Florida says very clearly that you have to be 18 to be in a dance hall. I also know that they have never been asked to leave Rum Runners or anywhere else. If you're in the area, I'd recommend Sharky's. The food has always been good and their entertainment is several notches above. read more

This was a great experience with great food. That is what I wished I could have said coming out of this horrendous meal. Everything we had was great! Our table ordered chicken strips, blackened chicken pasta, green salads, and chicken sandwich. Everyone loved their dishes and the portions are large. If I could give them a zero I would. We waited an hour and a half for our food while people all around us received theirs. The only thing difference between them and us is the color of our skin. When I did receive my order which was to be a combo basket of mahi-mahi and shrimp there was no shrimp. My drink had an insect in it and had to be replaced. I went to the bar myself and asked the bartender to make it again and showed him the insect. I am an essential worker and this is the first vacation I've had since the pandemic began and I am extremely disappointed! Skip this restaurant! See the attached picture of my blackened mahi-mahi which was extremely chewy. I couldn't even eat it and I had to get something else to eat. I hate writing bad reviews for restaurants because sometimes it's just circumstantial but the manager wouldn't even come out to speak to me you're my fiancé. She was really nice, but warned me that it would be at least an hour and a half before we could get any food. It would have been nice to be warned of that before we were seated, and even better before we sat for 30 minutes. We had to go ahead and leave without food because there was no way my toddler would have made it 1.5 hours before even having an appetizer. Got 5 drinks between me and the girlfriend and they all were sour. Gave them the benefit of a doubt but when you have a minimal amount of beers on tap (3) and they are all sour thats a bad sign.
