The main person who threads, I'm assuming her name is Ruma, was very nice and polite. However, she rushed doing my eyebrows and even left a "chunk" of hair on the end of my left eyebrow... I'm not exactly sure how she missed that but I was really unhappy with it. I should have said something but the moment I looked in the mirror, she was working on the next person. I decided to just tweeze them at home. Also, I waited about an hour and although I don't mind paying a high amount for good service, the 15$ was not really worth it to me. read more

This place is AMAZING . I really wish Ruma would open up a place up north ! Unfortunately I don't live near her anymore . I started going to Ruma since I was in high school when she didn't have her store yet . It's now 6 years and I still cannot find someone with her skills . Ruma really cares about her customers . She also cares about giving the best service . Everyone who threads my eyebrows somehow leaves me with irritation and cuts . However, Ruma makes sure your eyebrows and the skin around it feels calm and not irritating. My eyebrows are awful and nobody can ever get the shape I want except for Ruma . I RARELY WRITE REVIEWS. But this needs to be said. Made an appointment with Ruma and of course didn't get taken by Ruma because she seems to only care about her regular clients.. Despite my appointment being with RUMA at 5:00, Ruma went and took another girl who came in a few minutes after me. Hey Ruma maybe try treating your clients with the same respect you give your favorites? What kind of business are you trying to run here? Why even have an online booking system if you're not going to even follow it? Your customer service is terrible. instead the other lady destroyed my eyebrows despite me asking her not to thin them. It's the ONLY thing I asked of her. More than half of my eyebrows were gone. It doesn't matter... if a client asked you NOT to do something but you do exactly that, how are you going to try to not take the blame... on top of that Ruma heard and saw me conversing with this woman about destroying my eyebrows, and tried to IGNORE and pretend she didn't hear until she had no choice but to approach me. I don't care if you're with another client, this is your business, someone fucks up YOU fix it or teach them to solve the problem.... She literally did not care that I was vividly upset with this women. So fake. Instead of apologizing and acknowledging the disaster on my face they asked if I would be coming back. No!!!!! Ruma you should have just slapped me across the face instead of asking me if I would be coming back. My eyes were full of tears because I was so upset. They seem to only care about the $$ . Could have easily apologized and refunded me my money or offered me a free threading and maybe I would have come back if RUMA wanted to do my eyebrows and not the other ladies there. Ruma didn't just lose me as a customer but the rest of my family members who have been coming to her for years and recommended Ruma to me when I recently moved here. Disappointed I still paid AND tipped the women although I regret doing so because the way Ruma handled the situation after she was forced to approach me showed me that she simply does not care about her business. You would be better off going to Sutra, they're a little pricier but had a great experience there while Ruma's was closed. read more

This was my first time there. I have (had) full natural brows and just wanted a clean up and trim. The woman who did my brows completely changed the shape and thinned them out drastically. Apparently she told the owner that I had some sparse areas and she decided to thin my brows until the sparse areas were gone.... She decided? How about you ask your client if they want you to alter their face drastically before you do it? I won't be going back. read more

Went in for my first time in almost a year this morning. Ruma had been out for a week, and there was a line of 10 people waiting at 11am. That says something. My eyebrows were atrocious upon walking in. I have been tweezing them myself, and they were uneven little catepillars across my forehead. Ruma was kind and explained what she was doing each step. She told me when to come back, which areas to/not to tweeze in the coming weeks, and made the wait well worth it. I will not go anywhere else for my eyebrows from now on. Absolutely disgusting customer experience. Extremely rude staff including ownership. Been a loyal customer for 7 years, referred multiple friends and family. Consistently treated like a child. Accused of cheating the "list" system. Ignored by staff on multiple accounts and verbally reprimanded in front of 10 people. Twice the price of better quality threading and atmosphere in Manhattan. I've been going to Ruma for years, and absolutely love her! The salon is very nice, and they offer a range of services, including eyebrow threading (as well as the rest of the face), waxing, hair cuts and color, and facials to name a few. I've only ever gotten threading done, but Ruma is very attentive to details, and is an expert at shaping eyebrows whichever way you like. She's also very accommodating and super sweet. They're open every day except Sun & Mon. Def try it out!! read more

Went here for eyebrow & lip threading yesterday. Ruma is truly an artist. She is so friendly, and truly takes her time and analyzes your brows. She told me where I have "trouble" spots and how she can work over time to reshape them properly. It was $7 for eyebrows and $3 for upper lip--which is SUCH a great value. I have never been happier with my eyebrows. I think next time I will check out her other services as well. I used to go to the Freehold Mall for my eyebrows, where it was very inconsistent, more expensive, and usually rushed. Ruma's Salon is in the Home Fashion shopping center on Route 9 North. I went here for a clean up a couple of months ago and stressed how I have been trying to grow them thicker and to just clean up and NOT make them thin. The woman, she wasn't the owner, completely ignored me and completely changed my shape. When I told her they were thin she shrugged her shoulders. I couldn't even say anything else I was so upset. I haven't been able to touch my eyebrows for 3 months because after lots of research that's apparently how long it takes to regrow them. I will obviously not be returning here to get them done again! read more

I'd never had my eyebrows threaded before, or shaped in anyway, so I was really nervous. Ruma was great. She had a very calming presence and clearly knew what she was doing. I've been going to Ruma for about 10 years since before the salon existed. I get frustrated at times because the lines are ridiculous, the lack of appointments causes the clients to wait for HOURS. I look back at pictures of myself from a few years back and can't even believe how bad my eyebrows looked. Often times I'll have to wait 30-45 minutes to get them done but I think that shows just how great she is at what she does. I have gone everywhere for eyebrows including two people in NYC. This is my first time experiencing threading. I am so excited I found Ruma! The process was so much less pain and mess than waxing and SO precise. I have very difficult, thick, and long/ fast growing brows and everyone waxes them into the "skinny, older white lady penciled in style". Ruma showed me where I need to grow them in and the plan to make my brows perfect- first time in and they already look flawless to me. She doesn't accept appointments but I have gone to places where I have an appointment and the wait has been longer than here. I will never wax again and I will forever go to Ruma. Used to come here all the time for my eyebrow threading. Ruma does good but other than her no one else listens. The other lady drastically thinned out my eyebrows and changed the entire shape. I was so upset. And $15 for eyebrow threading? Go to the freehold mall and get them done there successfully for $12. read more

Still good service. Ruma does a great job with threading. However, note that the price for eyebrow threading has MORE THAN DOUBLED to $15 as of March 2014. Store sign should more clearly reflect this, versus the very vague reference they make to a potential price increase. read more

I never post reviews, but my experience at Ruma's was so fantastic that I had to make an exception! I was looking for a place (nearby) to get my eyebrows done, and found rave reviews for Ruma online. I set an appointment and went in that night. She truly is AMAZING! She took the time to study the state of my brows (which were in terrible shape), asked questions, and made suggestions on how to improve them. She's sweet and attentive, and I could tell she genuinely cares about her clientele. On top of that, her threading is the best I've ever had/seen! The only "downside" was the wait time...I got there on time for my appointment and I ended up having to wait in line. But the end product was definitely worth the wait, and worth the $15! I will be going to Ruma's on a regular basis, and I'm bringing friends. read more

Never let rumas assistant do your eyebrows. I asked her to make my eyebrows a little thinner instead she left me with gaps and uneven eyebrows. When I asked her to try to make them more even she blamed me for asking to thin them a little . Never even apologized even though I was almost in tears. read more
