This is my favorite spot in the Hamptons. Where else can you sit outside, take in the water views while enjoying the best tacos and sangria in the area. The Caribbean vibe is on point and the Adirondack chairs on the deck are great for taking a pitcher of sangria down to and enjoying a cool evening. The coconut Sriracha wings are phenomenal and cannot be missed. The one downside is that it is quite small and the wait can get more than an hour during peak season. On the plus side, you can always take the a ride on the free water shuttle to Cowfish and enjoy a drink while you wait. **Updated 3/26/18** Stopped in to Rumba on Sunday afternoon to grab a quick lunch before heading back to the city. What I find about Rumba is that they are consistently consistent. The food was just as good as during the peak season and the service was also spot on. As it is a bit chilly, the limited seating was full and there were also plenty of people enjoying the bar. We had the Ahi Tuna Salad, which was great. We also tried a new twist on the jerk chicken salad where we added the Sriracha coconut sauce and it was incredible. Will definitely try that again. read more

The online ordering is easy and gives you an eta (typically an hour out from the time you place the order).. but once you get there, you have to wait another 25 minutes (so total of 1h 25mins wait). Didn't help that they seem to forget about my order and required repeated checkins. FWIW, easier to just eat in or go elsewhere since the the food all got made at different times so some were hot, other items got cold. read more

Another great meal had in Hampton Bays. I literally wanted to order everything on the menu, it all sounded so good! In the end I chose the Chili rubbed pork tenderloin with coconut risotto and plantains. It was so tasty, I didn't want to finish. It was a great combination of flavors. My husband had the Caribbean noodle & steak salad, it was huge. He really enjoyed it. I typically like dry rubs over the sauces but this worked and I would order the ribs... and the wings again. Wife ordered the trench town burger w fries and she said the burger was one the best she'd had. Good size burger as well with perfect bun to meat ratio. Service was quick as food was easy as I walked in for take out. Only slight was they gave me the wrong salad. I ordered the garden but got the Caesar. Ironically the salad was still good. This comfortable waterfront address on Canoe Place in Hampton Bays, to my dismay, sat vacant last season. Happily, the location was reborn this year as Rumba, a wonderful indoor/outdoor joint featuring nouveau-Caribbean fare and a rum bar. The ambiance is a perfect compliment to the fare: whether you choose the dimly-lit interior or the breezy deck overlooking Shinnecock Bay. Vintage reggae streams from the sound system at just the right volume to permit comfortable conversation. Seafaring patrons may arrive by vessel. Just a few fathoms from the Shinnecock Canal, the rear of the restaurant sports a dock with enough room to park a small armada. As a boater myself, Rumba is a delightful addition to the limited number of dockside restaurants in the vicinity. The various drinks, many of which are served in mason jars, are exceptional. The mojito is served as the drink should be - semi-dry (sans the typical awful syrupy sweetness) with a dominating muddled mint. After a couple mojitos, give the Bermuda favorite, a Dark & Stormy, a try: dark rum and ginger beer. As for the fare, give the roasted artichoke a try for starters. For your main course, consider the ahi tuna salad, which was excellent; as were the diver scallops. Save some room for a most amazing key lime pie (which recipe came in 2nd place in a field of 200 entries at a key lime pie competition in the Florida Keys). If you elect to have some coffee with your pie, it will come out in a French press - a nice touch. At this top-tier casual Hamptons establishment, prices were very reasonable compared with other establishments in this pricey neck of the woods. Another fun stop in Southampton. Honestly, we only came here after the wait at Cowfish was over an hour and a half long.....and I'm happy we did. We came here on a Friday night by boat and was given a 30 min wait. Not bad so we waited at the bar and ordered a couple drinks and shots. Both were delicious. We didn't even finish our first drink before we got a text saying that our table was ready. We got seated outside overlooking the water and ordered the mussels to share along with the scallops and the ribeye. The mussels were exceptional. Truly the delicious. Unfortunately, the rest of the meal didn't compare. The ribeye was smothered in sauce but it didn't take away from the actually meat being dry and flavorless. The scallops were also underwhelming. Visiting from out of state. They would not accept my real ID and were claiming it was expired but is not and still is valid for three years. I was also with my parents which was weird that they still felt uncomfortable serving me thank god though because the food sucked and was so overpriced for the quality of it. We were very uncomfortable after they would not serve me a drink and throughout the rest of the meal the waitress barely showed up made weird comments and almost all our orders were messed up. When you are 5 minutes away and call to see what the wait is, don't lie on the phone and say it is half the time it actually is from what the hostess is saying when you arrive just to get you in the door. You obviously know it's going to be more of a hassle to remove your car from valet and that there is no where else near by that is actually decent. They have the best Rum punch, it's definitely out of this world. We like to get the fish tacos cause it's absolutely amazing.
