Absolutely loved this place ! So happy we stopped. Lots of seating. Huge menu. Staff are extremely friendly. Dog friendly ! They even offer them puppy ice cream. Burgers were delicious and classic. Chicago style hot dog was awesome. Really liked the rumble sauce !! Can't wait to go back, wish we had room for ice cream.

Went here on a Saturday for lunch because it was an open air spot and looked like a fun place to eat. Since it was a little past the normal lunch hour, there weren't that many people there eating, so it was easy to space out. There was enough of a crowd though to let you know that the place should be good. We ended up ordering a butterscotch malt, root beer float, rumble chicken sandwich, rumble fries, and the Marilyn Monroe burger. The malt was probably the favorite thing ordered. It was nice and thick and you could taste the malt and deep butterscotch flavor. The rumble chicken sandwich was just too messy for my liking. Primarily because there was sauce on the bottom bun, on top of the tomato, and on the top bun. I could have done with a little less and should have just asked for it on the side. The bun to filling ratio was also off, as the bun was way larger than the chicken piece that I got. The rumble fries were nicely crisped and not overly salty. The Marilyn Monroe burger was extremely messy!! It even came with a fork. There were more toppings around the burger than in the burger, which made it very difficult to eat. My friend would have liked it better if it would have been more of something you could bite into all at once. Overall, the staff was very friendly and I loved the decorations inside, but it was maybe not my style of food.

This is a fun restaurant to go to!! Really fun diner style seating and retro decor. Fun names for the food! Great service and food! Nice selection of ice cream that were really good too! The burgers were great! The banana split was large and was good to split between 2-3 people.

    SOOOOOOO good!!

Omg, stopped on a long drive and got sooooo stuffed. Fun atmosphere, delicious food, root beer floats... Couldn't ask for anything more!

Peace, Love & Root Beer - reads the sign out front and the back of some of the girls shirts. This is a classic drive-in... and even though the girls weren't on roller skates, it felt very classic-authentic. I almost felt bad that my modern car windows did no get along well with the hook-on food trays. We got a pulled pork sandwich, a turkey club, some curly fries and a too-sweet butterscotch shake. It was very tasty and just the right amount of food for our lunch needs. The classic rock was playing and families were sitting in their cars, at the picnic tables and in the gazebo... and I think there were even some people at an indoor seating section, but we did not investigate it.

This is a great throwback pit stop... Big bonus per our very nice waitress... They are very dog friendly... Dog treat provided. We had a blt, bacon cheese burger, root beer float, and chocolate malt. I'd say the float and the malt were the highlights of what we ordered. It's a locals joint and I like locals joints.

I'm not a snob so I can do a nice place, a dive and anything in between which was how the weekend went. The bar was pretty busy for a Saturday night and I was going to do a fresh patty burger but pizza after pizza was going out the front door so I might rethink my burger. The place is your typical Wi small town bar and not a dive but old looking that is CASH ONLY with a full bar and restaurant. The menu is decent for a bar and they take the food seriously with fresh beef burgers and real pizzas. I had a couple beers and gin tonics which were ok and not top shelf. The place is pretty loud and it was hard having a conversation but it was the place to be. We ordered the 16'' Soprano pizza with sausage, pepperoni, Canadian bacon, fresh mushrooms, onions, green peppers, green olives and black olives. First off they don't skimp on the toppings because they were plentiful and the pizza was really good with a nice saltyness from the green olives that worked so well. I doubt that they make the crust and I could be wrong but it very good because it was not thick or cracker thin but a nice in between that was like a fresh chewy crust from good fresh baked bread. It was weird to bump into the owner of the bar that we usually go to for drinks and pizza like we were cheating on him but it was all good but unexpected. Overall the pizza is good, the drinks are ok and the prices are very reasonable for a casual dinner and drinks and I see why they were packed and the lady's working the bar did an outstanding job keeping up with all the people.

What an awful, stupid experience…read more This all started because their lattes DO NOT COME WITH ESPRESSO. The staff acted like I was an idiot for asking if the iced lavender latte I ordered had espresso. I'm 40 and have never ordered an "iced latte" from a cafe just to be served cold milk, but that's exactly what I got. I asked if I could get it remade with coffee, and they again brought out just iced milk with syrup. This time I asked for just a couple shots of espresso on the side so I could add it to the drink. They eventually at the end of the meal brought out a mug full of lukewarm espresso - probably 4-6 shots! I added a splash to my drink, mixed, and it was (finally) really tasty! But then I got my bill and they had tacked an extra $5 ($2.95 for the espresso + another $2.00 for ???) On top of already paying $4.95 for just cold flavored milk, I guess? When I tried to explain what happened, the cashier, I assume Karin, got combative and that's when I learned this entire weird experience was because they simply don't include espresso in their lattes! At any point somebody could've cleared this up, the cashier knew exactly what the issue was as soon as I asked about the charges, and was ready to argue! I was told "that's just how they named it" and I should've "read the description". So I would've known they're the only place I've ever encountered that considers just flavored iced milk at $4.95 a "latte". She said "chai & matcha lattes don't have espresso" therefore it shouldn't be assumed a "latte" comes with espresso. Chai & matcha have their own caffeine! It's the caffeine that makes a latte, not milk. Why in the hell am I literally arguing the definition of a latte with this lady??? I was really chill up until this point. I was more incredulous than anything. Served just iced milk twice? Takes almost the whole meal to just get gross overload of espresso? Whatever. But to then be charged an extra $5 (making this drink almost $10!) and argued with by staff? That was a bridge too far. Went from just a weird, bad time to a positively nasty time. Top 3 worst dining experiences. Good job, Spring Green General Store, these out-of-towners definitely won't be back, which seemed to be the point. Hope the extra $5 you bullied out of us was worth it!

We decided to try out The Dog House because it was nearby, and we were very pleasantly surprised! The Dog House has very nice outdoor seating in a deck/patio area. They have a good selection of beers, and the service was fast and friendly. But where they really shine is the food (which they prepare in a teeny, tiny little kitchen!). We had the Stuffed Super Tots, which are huge tater tots stuffed with cheese, bacon, and chives, and served with a creamy dipping sauce. They were very crispy and cheesy - will certainly have them again. We also shared a Monster Burger and a side of the Best Fries Ever. The fries were indeed excellent - fresh, hot, and crispy, everything you want in a French fry. The Monster Burger was huge (TWO half-pound patties, with cheese and bacon - plenty big enough for two people!), juicy and delicious. If you're craving comforting pub food in the Mount Horeb area, give The Dog House a try - it's a true hidden gem!
