I came here because of the basketball battle of the coasts: New York Knicks (New York-East Coast) vs. Golden State Warriors (California-West Coast). Upon entering the building, there were many security lines to go through for clearance. One of the security staff members gave me a bit of difficulty with going through the scanner a total of three times and constantly checking my coat. Next, the building itself was huge to navigate through. My seat was located in Section 416, so I had to go all the way to the top of the building. Thankfully, I was able to take the escalators. There were a lot of food stands (standard snacks like hot dogs, pretzels, etc) and alcohol drink booths readily available. Bathrooms were also reasonably stationed in a fair distance. When the basketball game concluded, it was a bit of a hassle to get out. The escalators were completely shut down, so people had to take the flight of stairs down. Overall, Madison Square Garden is a fantastic hub for sporting games like the NBA, as well as other events, including concerts. Despite the slight hiccup with security and the closure of the escalators, I still had an amazing experience with the spectacular view of the Knicks vs. Warriors game.

When i saw Nicky Jam i had great seats on the 5th row towards the left of the stage and there's a big and clean rest room right there with barely any lines. This is important to note because the first restroom i mentioned is always very crowded and not as clean. I wish this location had additional rest rooms esp for women. However, I wanted to see a movie after work and this was the earliest screening time. I got off the one train and made it in time. There is an AMC directly across the street so I don't know how they have profitable business when they are right next to each other. This place was awesome. After going through all the escalators, I reached the top floor. I was surprised at how large this theater was. They have a wide open two floors and dining area. I was able to walk around and see all the attractions nearby. It was crowded but there was space for everyone to maintain distance and not bump into each other. This theater was bigger than other ones I have been to in the city. The highlight was definitely the top floor. They had a whole RPX area with bright lights and large projection screens. This was a cool place to hang out. I ended up seeing a movie in RPX. It is usually close to $40 for a ticket with everything included. Luckily I had a five dollar ticket from TMobile which eased the cost. I don't know if I would spend all that money for a ticket myself. I did have a great time and plan to come back here again soon. This place is underrated if you ask me.

(Click on my Substack for more Baumbach thoughts including my brief interaction with the auteur, as awkward as many of his finest scenes). You may have heard about the successful company that helped destroy movie theaters by pivoting to "content" meant to promote purchases of high-end TVs and nice couches. (Related, I went to Best Buy and didn't recognize anything. Is that a thermostat? A stereo? A smart garden hose?) This company was so successful, that after Knives Out was heralded as single-handedly reviving non-Marvel film, its sequel was withheld from the theaters it allegedly saved. (BTW, if you were planning to tell me to watch the amazing 53-part Quibi streaming series about The Golden Age Of Hollywood, don't bother). But after Netflix helped destroy theaters, it did a nice thing. It's one of those ironic moments like the purse-snatcher scene in Jay Kelly. It signed a lease that helped the Paris avoid the fate of the Ziegfeld and a million others, in a world where the AMC theaters that destroyed all the independents have been suffering themselves. So, while it was vile that Netflix thought Roma should be seen on TVs, it was nice of them to show it at the Paris, especially for the unusually vibrant sound. I saw Train Dreams Saturday. I suppose, like the kid in Squid and The Whale, I am a philistine. I wish I could praise its morose existentialism but I'm not quite on board. However, I did appreciate the majesty of the northwestern fires and falling trees in this venue. There was no assigned seating; not sure if this is just temporary, but if they keep that policy I might be obliged to overlook Netflix's evil and upgrade to 5 stars.

There was also a girl that checked us in and told us we were in lane 6. We got upstairs, used the bathroom and got our shoes. I'm normally a 7-7.5 and the 7 fit perfectly. My husband is a 9.5-10 and he got a 10 which also fit great. I love that we had our own section and the menus were already there. We got a round of drinks and a sampler platter. It had mini mozz sticks, tenders, wings, pretzels and fries. Everything was delicious. There was a manager hanging around making sure things ran smoothly and our server came by to check in a few times. We bowled from 7-9 finishing our game around 8:57 and then went to look around the arcade. I used the bathroom before leaving and i will say it was surprisingly very clean. The weird thing is, they were set up for the party with food and a welcome sign once we got to the lane. It seems like the front of house is not communicating with the back of house. This experience of checking in was annoying and could have gone better.

BE WARNED, THERE'S NO A/C AT THIS AMC LOCATION, AMC EMPIRE 25 (AT 42ND ST TIMES SQUARE)…read more My husband and I were at AMC Empire 25 on Saturday, April 25, 2026. We bought concessions and settled into our seats but noticed it was quite warm. The movie had just started so we assumed it would get cooler soon, but it never did, making for a hot, uncomfortable viewing experience. Mind you, the A/C was working everywhere else: the lobby, hallways, bathrooms. You'd really have no idea the A/C didn't work in the theatres until you walked in and were seated. When we left the theatre we heard everyone in the hallways saying the same thing, how hot the theatres were. That's how so we knew it wasn't just our theatre. We went downstairs to find an employee and spoke to the staff member who scanned the tickets for entry. Get this: He told us it's a known issue that they've had for A MONTH. They knew but there's no signs when you enter the building so we could make an informed decision before buying tickets. We went all the way downstairs to the lobby and found someone named Michael who said he was the "manager." When we told him about the hot theatres he was unconscionably rude and dismissive. He said "You watched the movie so we won't give you a refund." He actually faulted us for our experience, said we should have left the theatre, searched for staff or come down the long escalators 4-5 floors to find him and inform him about an issue he is already WELL AWARE OF. Due to most of us buying tickets online or at the kiosks in the lobby, I think management has lost all customer facing sensibilities. This manager was so unconcerned we'd had a lousy viewing experience; his response was flippant and unacceptable. We didn't even want a refund (tickets were a gift), but it would have been acceptable to get a rain check or something so we could hopefully view the film again in better comfort when the A/C is fixed. We used to avoid this theatre like the plague. It was dirty, rundown, broken seats and a horrifyingly persistent bed bug problem. Then they renovated and it was beautiful, became our favourite theatre to visit. When there are known service issues like hot theatres/NO A/C there should be signs placed in the lobby so you can make an informed decision before buying tickets or to let you know you can ask for a refund if you bought tickets online. Even better, they should update their website and app with ongoing service issues.
