    Vegan Friendly French Toast
    Lori B.

NPO since 8 pm day before I was ready for some food and caffeine since diagnostic testing was over. Came to Rupert's based off reviews....they didn't disappoint. What a hopping cafe. I ordered the vegan French toast and a side of bacon. Having a severe egg allergy makes breakfast choices out limited. The cinnamon on the French toast gave it the right crisp plus the maple syrup was spot on for my taste buds. The bacon is thin strips which aren't my thing I prefer thick cut bacon. It has a few counter seats and then as many tables as can be put inside for seating. Turnover of tables was quick. Many people came and went. I enjoyed my hot tea and read while I ate.

    Crazy toasters on the wall

Had to take the truck to Ford because a chipmonk chewed thru a wire. Sigh. It was 10am and breakfast sounded good. Found this nice little place. So cool inside with crazy toasters on the walls. Also seating outside. Service was great and with a smile. I had the Animas breakfast which was bacon and eggs with 2 delicious potato cakes and wheat toast. Very good. Coffee good. The wife had corn beef hash with 2 over easy eggs on top. She loved. I knew it as soon as I read their menu. She likes different stuff. They also make breakfast drinks but alas, we had to drive 3 hours back to Creede so had to pass. Someone got a burger for lunch that looked good but was huge.

My favorite spot in Durango to grab breakfast! Such a cute diner spot for breakfast and lunch. I ordered the Benedict and an iced chai latte. The food was delicious and the potatoes were so different and tasty. I'll definitely be coming back next time I'm in Durango!

    Veggie Benedict

Found this cute breakfast place in Durango. Wow. One of their specialties is the potato pancakes. It comes with most of their breakfast entrees. I had the veggie Benedict which was oh so good! Best I've ever had! Service was great. Very friendly and attentive.

Truffle scramble with added ham, avocado, and mushrooms

Hit this place up on the way out of town. We had to wait a half hour due to this place being popular, but we had a large group of 7. Once we sat down though, they were super fast handling all of our orders and requests! I really enjoyed my Truffle Scramble. I like how they make it so easy to personalize their scrambles. I added ham, mushrooms and avocado to mine for slight additional fees. My husband enjoyed his steak and eggs. We ordered their special chorizo bread pudding entree and a shareable because we couldn't resist that savory and sweet option! I highly recommend the vanilla chai latte. One of the best ones I've ever enjoyed! My friends ordered that too once they heard me order mine and tried mine. The ambiance is cute with the varied toasters hanging on the walls. As a Star Wars fan, I was glad they included one with the Millennium Falcon!

SO GOOD!! YOU SHOULD GO HERE!!! Servers are SO kind, the portions were huge!! The food was amazing, every bite was phenomenal. It wasn't super expensive, and I ordered the special quiche with ham and chocolate pancakes. It came with 2 pancakes bigger than my head, a huge, fluffy, flavorful quiche with sausage, and a slice of ham that was so delicious. The restaurant was beautiful and safe. This place is my Durango #1!!!

    CHICKEN FRIED STEAK

A local favorite! Visiting Durango every once in a while we usually stick to restaurants within walking distance of main street but during our last visit, a worker in a local store asked if we'd ever been to Rupert's because they had the best chicken fried steak and banana nut French toast - so that's exactly what we did and we'll always go back! The restaurant is near the edge of town, tucked away. It's small, so it seems to fill up quickly but the wait wasn't too bad. We had the best server! He was happy, friendly and very busy as he was juggling lots of tables but didn't miss a beat with refills, checkins and answers to all my questions. But don't take my word for it, try it for yourself - plus, here's a couple photos that speak for themselves...

We went twice while in Durango and both times were delicious. The jalapeño bacon is so good! Eggs Benedict were great.

    Southwest Benedict
    Jamie S.

Deliciousness! I had the Southwest Benedict. The eggs were softly poached to perfection. They kindly asked if that preparation would be acceptable. Hubby had the Huevos Rancheros and added pulled pork. Both dishes were packed with flavor. The pulled pork on both was so moist. I read they are known for their potato pancakes and they have a right to be. The service was great. Coffee and waters were kept filled and they checked on us to make sure we were happy with the dishes. We sat outside with our two dogs. It's not a picturesque patio as some outdoor patios are, but we were glad to be able to have our dogs with us. We will definitely return.

    Toasters on the wall

MiL and husband says the corn fritter with the southwest eggs Benedict has a corn fritter topped with pulled pork, poached egg, and hatch green chile salsa is amazing/exceptional. I had the build your own scramble with pancakes. Really OMG good. Much better than Oscar's. Cannot say enough about how good the food is here. Service is fast and friendly, excellent. And the ambiance is unique. Toasters on the wall of all different types from hello kitty to Darth Vader. Highly recommend!

    Rupert's classic Benedict

It's very cute little breakfast/bunch place with fresh ingredients and good looking bread. The food all looked nicely made. They have a lot of old toasters on walls as decoration. Super cute!

    Classic French Toast

I came here with a group of 4 others during the peak busy hours for breakfast. Although there was limited space they were highly accommodating, and managed to find seating for us. I ordered the French toast, which wasn't too sweet (just how I like it). The menu was expansive, with many vegetarian options. Parking here is a challenge, so be sure to come early.

If you are a lover of well done birria, this is your place. Craving authentic Mexican food? Yep, this is your place. We started with their chips and salsa. I think you can tell a lot by the salsa at a place. Lemme just say, I was so very happy! Their salsa wasn't too chunky, not too thin and they are not afraid to season and add some heat - but hey, don't worry it wasn't too hot if you've got a dad like mine who isn't a fan of "too much spice." Such a good omen. I couldn't decide which marg to try so ordered a flight. Best decision ever. Even as I write this, I'm still hard pressed to choose a favorite. They were all so good. She took the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad to Silverton, but unfortunately I wasn't able to go because of a medical condition that prevents me from traveling to high altitudes, and the train climbs to around 10,000 feet. After she left on her adventure, I decided to find some breakfast. While I was walking around town, my aunt called. She and my uncle used to vacation in Ouray every year, so she knows the area well. She recommended Jean-Pierre Bakery, so that's where I headed. I was seated right away and ordered a coffee while I looked over the menu. My waitress was very friendly, and we chatted for a while. She even recommended a few places around town that I should check out. I finally decided on the Croque Monsieur (brioche, béchamel, ham, and Swiss cheese) served with a salad. When my meal arrived, it looked fantastic. The sandwich was delicious, rich, and full of flavor. It was my first time trying a Croque Monsieur, and I really enjoyed it. The salad was fresh and crisp, and the vinaigrette paired perfectly with it. After finishing my meal, I couldn't resist ordering a pistachio cream-filled éclair that had caught my eye when I first walked in. It looked beautiful, but unfortunately, it was a disappointment. The pastry was very dry, and the bottom was quite hard. It definitely didn't taste freshly made. The pistachio cream had a nice flavor, but there wasn't very much of it. I mentioned my concerns to my server, and she kindly brought me a chocolate éclair to try instead. It also looked wonderful, but it had the same problem. The pastry tasted old, almost like it had been sitting for a couple of days. I would absolutely return for another Croque Monsieur or to try something else from the breakfast or lunch menu because that part of the meal was excellent. As for the pastries, they certainly look beautiful, but based on my experience, I would probably pass on them next time. This would have been a solid 4 star if those eclair had of been good.
