A true Idaho gem for potato lovers! Since we were driving through Idaho, of course we had to stop for a potato, and Rupes did not disappoint. I ordered the chili cheese baked potato and wow--the serving was massive! Delicious, filling, and definitely enough to share (I couldn't finish mine). For something fun, I tried their Rice Krispie Treat shake, and it was absolutely worth it--sweet, creamy, and nostalgic. The best surprise, though? They serve their drinks in ice-cold mugs with crushed ice. It's a small touch, but it makes everything that much more refreshing. My husband went for a burger and some chili cheese tater tots, and both hit the spot. He was just as happy with his meal as I was with mine. Not what it used to be 4 years ago. And went way downhill since I first ate here. Just turned out to be the one of those places that used to be very great, the staples of the community, but now your kids only go because they remember you had fond memories of dining here but meals served are currently not much better than local Wendy's. Few weeks ago in November we decided to go to a movie theater and had extra half an hour so we thoughtt to grab a bite at Rupe's. Order was never delivered, so we went to movie theater just to figure out they were overbooked, then decided to come back to Rupe's even if it will takes us a full hour to get our food. Food and service felt Ok at best. Just something in between Wendy's and Sonic with longer than average waiting time. Rupe's Burgers is the type of place you'd expect to see on Guy Fieri's Diners, Drive ins and Dives! I had to look it up to make sure it wasn't! They have an old school drive in for those who would like to eat in the car and inside dining which is very cutely decorated. - Lemonade: Nothing out of the ordinary. It's from the soda fountain. Nice touch serving it (water too) in a frosted mug. - Huckleberry malt: This was good, especially on a hot day! I had to pace myself so I'd have room for food. - Reno burger: Pastrami on a burger? If that isn't the epitome of gluttony, I don't know what is. Sure was good though! - Finger steaks: Meagan, our server, recommended these and they did not disappoint. No problem swapping out the fries for tater tots and she even added the fry sauce without a request. - Dole whip: A different flavor weekly! I've never had a dole whip that wasn't pineapple. The watermelon was sweet, tangy and creamy, yet also icy. Good! The food here is cheap and the portions are substantial. It gets busy here, but there was no wait for a table. On a Saturday night, groups were still filing in after 9pm. Not the cleanest. I loved this place. I walked in and actually wondered if I'd somehow wandered onto the set of a sequel to American Graffiti. The place was packed with happy teenagers having a great time hanging out with their friends. I think the first employee I interacted with must have been new because she kept having to go and ask other people questions to answer my questions but the more seasoned employee who eventually took over was great and very helpful. The prices were very reasonable. I bought a hot pastrami sandwich and a bowl of chili. Neither were the best I'd ever had but they were both tasty and good. I grabbed a burger for my wife, which she planned to eat half of and then save but she liked it so much, she ate the whole thing. Moved to Blackfoot in July 2011... Visited Rupe's one afternoon after picking up boyfriend for work and thought it would be something different... He had the famous hamburger and I had the fish. I would never get the fish there again as McDonald's fish is better then Rupe's; however, he stated the hamburger was very delicious. Have not revisited yet even though it is only about 6 blocks or less from our house. I truly believe most of these reviews are fake. Paid $10 for the fried steak strips and tater tots. The tots were luke warm. The steak strips were only warm. They were also small, 1 fried didn't even have any steak inside. Got way more container sauce than could be used. Big portions, these other customers say? Bull.
