Upon walking in we were greeted and then allowed to select from the posted menu. It was a hard choice because everything sounded great. But I finally choose the Outlaw with a side of coleslaw. The bun was very tasty and fresh. The brisket was tender and flavorful. There were two strips of bacon on top of the brisket and three onion rings on top of that. I took off the top bun, added some BBQ sauce and then proceeded to enjoy each thing piecemeal. Until I came to just the brisket and the bottom slice of bread which was small enough to fit into my mouth. It was all yummy. Tucked away down an offstreet, past anything else a person would go to sits a plain, dusty parking lot full of cars and trucks--That's how you know it's lunchtime at Smokin Gun BBQ. As soon as you open the door you are surrounded in old west theme, with old Coca Cola ads, Western movie posters on the walls, and old style wooden bench seats. You order at the counter, giving an insiders view to the sweet, busy, long time resident couple, Clint and Jeanne pouring love into the food. Immediately, Jeanne rushed over to us, not in the strong raspy southern drawl you'd expect, but sweet and softspoken as a dandelion. "I'm so so sorry, we got a really big order this morning, so we are out of brisket, and nearly out of ribs." She hurried back to work on the other side of the counter. One would think, "What? A BBQ place w/o brisket and ribs," but looking around at the full dining room of people grubbin down, they knew "everything here is good." So, without fuss, I ordered a Smoked Turkey Sandwich & Mac n Cheese. The turkey sandwich comes on jalapeno sourdough, with bacon ranch, swiss cheese and lettuce. She got some Pulled Pork and Coleslaw. Omgosh!, that turkey sandwich is magnificent! Crunchy, chewy, & grainy sourdough, with supreme house made dressing!! They make all their unique dressings in house. I will go back to Blackfoot just for that. The Mac& Cheese, lol, more like mini tubas bubbling with warm cheese. We didn't talk much to eachother during this trip cuz, 1. She was busy with verbalzing sounds to her juicey, smokey pork & slaw. Also, Clint entertained us at table side. Glib old guy with plenty of stories about his younger days, and his love of old western movies. He also proudly brought samples of their sauces and feature meats--It was a blast!, and I'm better for having met them! Please come show them some love, but show up prompt cuz first come first serve. This place was THE BOMB. The BBQ brisket and pulled pork was divine, and I particularly liked the cornbread hush puppies. Our doggies waited in the car and the owner (?) came out and gave us some leftover meat to give them as treats. That kind of friendly service is worth mentioning too. So I have been dying to come to try bbq here, and unfortunately every time I stopped by they were closed because they sold out. Well today I decided to try again and they were open! (Insert happy dance). I walked in and was greeted with a bright smile and a "hello! How are you today?" , I told the lovely gal that I had not been there before and that I had come by a few times but they were sold out. She gave me a run down of the menu, I then decided on their razorback sandwhich with hush puppies(I'm from Alabama so I was so excited for the hush puppies) , a side of Mac n cheese, baked beans and a 1/4lb of the turkey. While the food was being made, I got to talk to both of the owners and told them I had not been able to find a good bbq place since I moved here and how excited I was to try the food. They gave me samples of the pulled pork and turkey, let me tell you... OMG they were both so tender, moist and flavorful. It made me even more excited to try what I ordered. When I got home I tried everything and it is the best bbq I have had out here. The pulled pork sandwich was so delicious, the flavors of the pork mixed with the bbq sauce and the creamy coleslaw was phenomenal! I then tried the Mac n cheese and baked beans, again amazing and so much flavor. Lastly the hush puppies, I took one bite of those and it brought me right back home, especially with the honey butter they serve with it. They also had Alabama white sauce and dear god I will be convincing them to sell it to me by the bottle. All in all, I highly recommend Smokin' Gun BBQ. Smokin Gun BBQ is really good. It's just really good BBQ, and great service. It can get a little busy at lunchtime but I've never had to wait more than 5 mins for my food to come out. The chopped brisket sandwich is my go to choice. My wife likes the pulled pork, but you would be hard pressed to find something bad there. The only weird thing is that they don't allow high school kids (high school right across the street) in the restaurant at lunch time. This place is legit Texas style even done to the slices of white bread, pickles and onions! There was even a fry sauce for the rings. I'd come back again and again for the Brisket and Mac n Cheese!!! Way too expensive for what was delivered. A single meat plate was purchased, with a single Bud bottle. ($16.00) The smoke ring was good, but the fat was too fat. Since they weigh their servings, I don't want the fat. The Baked beans were from a can with a few additions, Costco bought potato salad, a single slice of non toasted Wonder white bread, and 2 pickle slices about the size of a quarter. Very clean and pleasant place. Large portions and we were able to substitute the coleslaw instead of fries. I would have liked more bbq sauce but I didn't ask for more. They do have several different beers but hours can vary as if they run out of meats they close. Service was great. read more
