Don't go for anything, but the pie shake. The burger was mid- nothing special, but the pie shake was GAME CHANGING. It had a slice of pie on top and was the yummiest flavor. All the best parts of the pie are in this shake because they put an entire slice into your shake! It's the creamiest and best way to eat pie!! Definitely recommend for the shakes. Came in at 7am today for breakfast with a work group. We were seated promptly and service was absolutely above top notch. Waitress was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed and never ran out of anything. Food came out piping hot and everyone enjoyed their food. I ordered the small biscuit and gravy, side of hash browns and sourdough toast. Biscuits and gravy was a 10/10. The biscuits reminded me of eating flapjacks with their taste and were super fluffy and warm and cooked perfectly. Nice country gravy but I needed to add some more pepper for my liking. Hash browns were that thick cut hash browns, big like the Idaho potatoes and were the best part of the breakfast. Especially adding that country gravy on top. Mouth watering and unbelievably good. The toast was good, needed less butter for my taste but the in house strawberry jam was a really good one. Not sure if they sale jars of It but if they do I definitely would have bought some. Whole place is that small ma and pop feel and the food was perfect with pricing where you would expect breakfast should be. Definitely look forward to coming back here when I'm back here on business again. read more

We decided to try the new Saturday night special Pasta menu from Micks. It was excellent! You get a nice salad, Bread sticks and Pasta. Our granddaughter got the spaghetti & meatballs, our Son in law got the Lasagne, the lil woman got the Chicken salad, & I got the Blackened Chicken Alfredo everything was just excellent!! They had a good-looking menu and I ordered a hamburger. Homemade bun, and a good piece of hamburger. My standout favorite was the beer battered fries. There are a lot of poor attempt to make beer battered fries. These were fantastic. Cooked all the way through, and saw the crunchy on the outside. Limitless fry sauce. You'd have to be a local to know what fry sauce is. My only regret is I didn't take a picture. I ate the food and forgot the picture. A good excuse to go back another time. read more

If you're in Shelley, this is a great place to check out. We moved here 6 months ago and just barely tried it because the outside appearance is kind of sketchy. We finally gave it a try tonight, as we walked in, I was very pleasantly surprised...the inside has been updated and has a fun, diner type feel. The waitress was very pleasant and helpful. The special was a cheeseburger, fries, a slice of pie, and a drink for $8.02. What a deal! The burger was delicious on a homemade bun. The fries (I tried beer battered) were perfectly crispy and hot. Then the pie was awesome! Definitely homemade...flaky crust, rich creamy texture, and plenty of whip cream. I tried the german chocolate , it was delicious and very filling, one piece would have been totally shareable for two people. Excited to find a great new place. Just okay food. The breakfast menu could be bigger with more options of omelets than just plain old ham and cheese or cheese alone. Their "biscuits" and gravy are hamburger buns that they put gravy on, which is horribly wrong. A biscuit isn't that hard to make... I'm not a fan of the hashbrowns here. "Mick's Homecooking"... Complete false advertising by the name. Most of the dinner items ordered were very obviously prepackaged/frozen/store-bought. Such a disappointment. Laziest "cooking" I've seen in a restaurant in a very very long time. Prices were cheap, thank goodness. Have you ever had one of those meals that was unforgettable? Well this is one that I wish I could forget. While the people working at Mick's were incredibly friendly, the food was a tremendous example of homecooking, gone wrong. At first I was concerned with the number of flies in the restaurant and thought they would be a problem when our food finally came to our table, but apparently they knew better than patrons, because they never came close to my plate. I only wish I had followed their lead. Everything on my plate was burned. Sausage....burned....eggs...burned....hashbrowns, burned AND undercooked. Even the famous scones...BURNED!! The best thing we had, was the honey butter which was apparently pre-packaged anyway. After being highly recommended as the best breakfast in the area, I was very disappointed. What a great find! We've been driving past this place for 20 plus years now and finally decided to stop in for lunch. So glad we did! Service was friendly, food was fantastic and atmosphere was that of a small town diner. Nothing pretentious but clean and plenty of tables. I had the cheeseburger, my husband had the grilled ham and cheese and we shared a small fry. Great home cooking. My husband ordered a small root beer float which also just fit the bill! The breads, pies and buns are all homemade and after biting into my burger, I ordered a dozen to go! Dessert was a tough choice but we opted for a whole apple pie to go to share with our dinner guests tonight! Looks delicious! Usually a burger is enough to fill me up so I didn't order any sides with it. However, it was on the small side. So I'd recommend getting a side with your sandwich otherwise you may be dissatisfied. Additionally the waitress never returned to refill my water so I was thirsty the whole meal. My family raved about the beer battered fries. They weren't my thing but maybe you should try them anyways. Additionally I heard good things about their pies but we didn't get any on our trip there.
