Jamar came out and diagnosed the issue as a failed spark plug. Diagnosis was pretty quick and cost $150. Fair price and he clearly knows what he's doing so that's refreshing. He recommended replacing all spark plugs and I agreed. I was ready for him to perform work that morning but he had more appointments and told me he would give me a price and could potentially get out later that day. I tried calling in the late afternoon as I hadn't heard from him and he ends up texting me a price. At this point it's clearly not getting done same day and I just decided to go ahead and fix the problem myself. I replace the spark plugs and I realize I'm missing them screws that hold the coils on. I looked around and couldn't find them. Jamar had taken them off and I didn't know what he did with them. I texted him asking if he knew where they were and he told me he has them. I know this was likely not done on purpose and he says he'll bring them back later that day. Cool. 6 pm rolls sound and I haven't heard from him. I text him and get no reply. Next morning I text again and tell him I need them by there end of the day. He says he'll bring them. He doesn't. It's a work truck that I needed to be in use today and I couldn't use it. Honestly Jamar is a cool guy and I wish him the best I just think he's too busy and I slipped through the cracks. He never brought me the screws I had to buy them myself and put new ones on. My truck ended up being down for a week because he kept telling me he was going to bring them and didn't. So I was ready to head off to work earlier this week and my car (the beater, 2018 BMW X2) wouldn't start...that's odd I thought. Then I got error messages saying "battery discharged, start vehicle" as well as "hood not closed, please check hood" or something of that nature. I kept on madly pushing my engine start button but to no avail. I took our weekend car out to work as a result. Later, I reached out to Jamar about the issue, as I thought a mobile mechanic would be more economical and convenient than having to tow the vehicle. Jamar came out quickly and diagnosed the problem, which turned out to be a completely dead battery. He tried jumping it but it would not hold a charge. I wanted an OEM battery replacement so I told him I would go pick one up at the dealer and asked if he could come back and install it. After I had the battery, we scheduled a time for him to come by and he came on time and installed the battery, as well as registering it using a special scanning/coding tool (required on all modern BMWs). He was down to earth, very knowledgeable and skilled, respectful, and a great guy to work with overall. When I tried the car out after he was done, it was still giving me error messages about the battery draining. He advised me to drive the car around a bit and try it out again the next day. He said that if it was still giving me trouble, he would come back to diagnose further. I took his advice and the next morning, upon starting up the car, no error messages and everything was working great! Finally, the pricing was very fair for all the work that he did. My car started overheating in the midst of the heatwave in September and the 'trusted' shop I brought it to totally took advantage of me being a woman and chalked it up to just needing a 60,000 mile tune up. Flash forward two weeks later, and my 2014 Jeep Patriot starts overheating AGAIN. Confused, I took it back to the same shop and they offered to wave the diagnosis since the issue wasn't solved the first time. Next day I get a call from the shop saying that it was the worst case scenario and my head gasket had likely blown and was letting coolant get into the engine fuel. They quoted me $3,000+ and said it would take 2 weeks of labor, much of which made the price so high. Taking my father's recommendation, I went shopping for a trustworthy mechanic to provide me with a better quote and a sure bet at fixing the problem for good. That's when I stumbled upon Rush Hour Mobile, and I was sold. All the other mechanics and shops I had reached out to were taking advantage of the fact that I was a woman, and refused to give me an estimate for the repairs without paying the $250 for a diagnosis first. Not Jamar though! His estimate for how much he would charge for the same services was 50% less than what the original shop was going to charge me!!! He was incredibly understanding and even offered to diagnose the car first himself FREE OF CHARGE to ensure that we knew exactly what was wrong before committing to expensive repairs. I dropped off the car with him and when he couldn't get the car to overheat again, I came back and we both drove the car around to try to get it to overheat again. We spent at least a good hour trying to get it to overheat, but it just wouldn't do it! I dropped Jamar off and told him I'd try to get it to overheat and then call him up the minute it does. Some while later, the car started to overheat again late at night, so first thing next morning I texted Jamar and told him. He was able to come to me and brought his associate and they both gave the car a look. Just my luck, we spent a whole hour trying to get the car to overheat again (maybe it's performance anxiety lol) much to our dismay. We all took a look at what was under the hood, and they actually took the time to educate me on how certain parts are supposed to work and other possibilities to why my car overheats only occasionally. July 4th, coming back from desert (118 degrees) 29' motor home broke down on I 15 - Victorville. Dollied it back to our driveway in San Diego. We saw the problem when tow truck unloaded it, serpentine belt broke. First mechanic said engine was blown and needed to be replaced ($5300, labor $2500 plus serpentine belt and a few other parts) because engine overheated. After charging me $87 for a diagnostic that took about 2 mins because it was obvious Jamar told me he'd pick up the part and have me up and running same day. Time goes by and I hear nothing from him so I finally call him and he says it's too late today he will finish tomorrow. Next day I follow up with him and he says part needs to be special ordered and it wont be available until the end of the week. I agree to see him Friday while being out of a car all week. Friday comes part has arrived and I'm calling him from the morning to make sure I have a car for the weekend. He says he will be there later than expected because he's working on his side business of buying cars at auction. It's almost 3 pm and I haven't heard from him I call and he says he just finished with the auction and it's too late (before 3pm) to work on my repair which at most would take 3 hours. Instead he says I have to wait until Monday. Who calls it a day at 3 pm especially when you have a client who has been waiting all week for this repair!? I have a special needs infant at home and I've have to rely on rides, Uber and door dash to live which would have been fine had be done the job on Friday! Needless to say I'm livid and Jamar couldn't be bothered to go the extra mile ( really just keep his appointment) to take care of his customer.
