Revisited Russ and Daughters and had to give it a better score. The service and quality of ingredients is unmatched. I got the egg everything bagel with Lox and Caviar crème cheese. He lightly toasted the bagel and assembled every ingredient to perfection. The caviar crème cheese was no extra charge and wasn't too overwhelming so was pleasantly surprised!

Decided to pop into Russ&Daughters for a quick breakfast before work. Been here a couple times and the food is pretty consistent. I find that the staff is pretty lax and laid back. Not quite sure if this is good or bad. Unfortunately, I saw one staff member scratching his head and resting his head under his shirt. The place is clean and tidy. I would try again

A more pricey lox bagel spot but it was very tasty so I would say it's worth to try it. I got the lox bagel and added capers, tomato and onion. $17 for the lox plus $1.5 for the extras plus taxes so you can do the math but over $20 for one bagel it seems a bit much. Line was long but it went by quick. There are some picnic tables outside of the navy yard so it was nice to enjoy it in the sun!

Loved all the options, friendly staff and delicious bagels as well as yummy treats. The ambiance was quiet and chill as it was early. My only disappointment was they had no hot sauce no fault to them I just like to have a kick with my food. Definitely recommend and will come back next time I'm in town.

While this Russ and Daughters may be a little bit of a trek to the middle nowhere Brooklyn, there really isn't much of anything else around this location, this Russ and Daughter affords a much better customer experience. The staff are always so friendly and accommodating, the food is the same quality and fresh. The kitchen is seen through the huge windows even though to be honest I've never really seen it in action as most times I've gone on weekends, it's generally empty. Another added benefit here is indoor seating as well as outdoor onsite in the building. My favorites are the Chopped Liver (yes, chopped liver is great and I like Chopped Liver), Latkes and Matzah Ball soup that I always grab to get me back on track when I'm under the weather. Their Matzah Ball soup is a must when you are sick!

I made a DoorDash order, which took almost 2 hours. Luckily, I had the patience for it. I ordered the classic Bagel & Lox ($18) with gaspe nova, tomatoes, onions, and scallion cream cheese on an everything bagel. The bagel was good, but nothing too special. I have had bigger bagels in NY for the same price with more filling. Overall, pricey breakfast for a lox bagel. It didn't taste any more special than if I made this at home myself.

I found the food to be a little lackluster. Nothing really hit my soul or heart. Super salty and lots of cream cheese, so it's probably not the healthiest lunch. I'm glad I tried it and can explore other bagel options in NY.

Took the ferry for the nice skyline views and ended here in Brooklyn. In New York, a bagel doesn't count as a full meal and its a standard to start your day so naturally we went to Russ & Daughters. Price is higher, but seems like they use quality ingredients and spruce up a standard lox with caviar or ikura. One was the Super Heebster with whitefish and baked salmon with horseradish dill cream and wasabi flying fish roe. Definitely elevated, on the saltier side, but I enjoyed it all! Toasting of the bagel so the fried garlic aroma fills the air is top notch. This location has lots of space to order/wait for your order. Came early in the AM, was not busy and staff was friendly to answer questions, and they were kind enough to cut them into pieces for us -- a much cleaner job than we would have done!

Was it good?: Yes Would I ever wanna pay 45$ again for the two bagels with fish inside?: No bc they were skimping and I wasn't extremely impressed by the filling and the lox, caper, onion, and tomato was an extra $1.5. I barely got any cream cheese either. But it was nice to try it out! The bagels themselves are good deals, only 2$ each. It was nice to look at the factory where they make the bagels too.

A not so great photo of their babka ice cream sandwich
    Morlene C.

The lox and whitefish salad here are great, but I'm writing here today to tell you about the babka ice cream sandwich. I would've walked away with just a goat milk cream cheese bagel (yes they have that here!) in hand were it not for a sign proudly advertising their chocolate babka ice cream sandwich. The person behind the counter proclaimed it "better than you expect" and I expected it to be pretty darn good. I'm a fan of all Jewish pastries, from rugelach to sufganiyot, but noshing on a chocolate babka tops the rest. Sandwich some ice cream between two slices of those bad boys and you have yourself a winning combination. They keep these things very, very frozen, so you'll want to tote it around in the summer heat for a little while if you want to avoid chomping down on a frozen brick. Once you get it at a goldilocks temperature though this ice cream sandwich is *chef's kiss*. Think of the ideal french toast bread-- buttery, airy, soft, and with a touch of sweetness-- combined with the smooth creamy cold texture of ice cream. Perfection. This Russ & Daughter's location is inside the food vendor section of the Brooklyn Navy Yard, and the pickings are slim inside this "food hall," particularly now during the pandemic when most folks haven't returned to the office and so the few vendors in the building don't have a reason to reopen right now. But now you can take advantage of the lack of crowds, and get yourself an ice cream sandwich and a bagel to go without a long wait. Year round this meal will nourish the soul.

Decor/actual restaurant: This particular location is very small and tight with limited in-store seating. The interior is cute, I like the blue color theme they have here. For a restaurant designed for to-go orders, I believe that there could be more waiting room and a couple less chairs. Service: Like many "fast food adjacent" restaurants, the people who work there have good customer service but I imagine deal with the worst. I know they're doing great with the situation they're in. Kudos to them. Food: this is probably my harshest critique. I ordered a pesto chicken sandwich, and it was fine. I don't believe it was worth the $16 I spent though. The chicken was kind of bland, tasted similarly to frozen grilled chicken pieces you buy from a grocery store. I do wish there was more sauce. The pesto tasted good but overall there was too much bread. I fear you would be better off making something like this at home for a comparable price. The bread was good, just too much. I don't want to base the menu on this sandwich alone, a lot of the menu options sounded delicious, but this was just the experience I had!
