Yes, the best bagel is subjective. This is the best I've ever had, surpassing Absolute Bagels at Broadway & 108th, which I didn't think was possible... Puffed up more like an oval shape. Well coated on top & bottom with the seasoning of choice (tried the onion and the everything). Lightly crispy/crunchy on the outside, with a shell that cracks even before toasting. Fluffy/chewy on the inside. Once toasted, that wonderful almost blackened char around the edges was perfect. I'm not sure what's going on, but the service and quality has really gone down. I ordered the ultimate BLT hero sandwich. After waiting 35 minutes with 5 people getting their orders before me, I finally was given my order. The hero sandwich didn't have any lettuce, tomato, or fillings. It barely had any ham or bacon. I've never in my life received such a bad BLT in my life from anywhere. I'm not sure how you make a bacon, lettuce, tomato without the lettuce or tomato. If they were rushed, then I would understand. It's amazing they can memorize a long order without writing it down, and you pay when the food is ready. You would think okay it's a pretty common breakfast sandwich in New York what could go wrong. As someone who lives in the area it is the only bagel place around. The bagel had a fishy taste to it that made me feel sick while eating it. Every aspect of the sandwich had a fishy flavor. To include I am also pregnant so it just did not sit well and in addition smoked salmon is not safe while pregnant. Their lox bagel is scrumptious and ginormous (better be b/c its slightly expense) with delicious scallion cream cheese spreads, everything bagels, and garlic bagels. Love coming here early in the morning and grabbing this with some coffee from somewhere else (Time Out Market or Arabica, prefer the latter). If it's summer/spring, enjoy the rooftop of time out or the grass below the bridge, or since you're early, grab a seat where the IG bridge photo everyone takes.
