My first few times here I didn't like what I ordered but now that I found my usual, I love the food. We seem to always get the same waitress, her name is B, she's a sweet girl. Always friendly. Price and location make this a nice regular stop, and we go a lot in the winter. read more

We had a reservation for 15 people and were promptly seated in a side room. The server was a veteran and organized her team quickly. It's an old-style place with a few twists to suit any palate. We just had the Christmas feast that Russ' sells. Oh what a bargain this was. Ham steaks (three pounds of them) Glaze Mashed potatoes Gravy (real foodies will call this as Espagnole) Green beans Sweet corn Apple sauce Russ' amazing dinner rolls A whole apple pie Using the old double quarterpounder rule (if you are really hungry you get two quarterpounders) this will feed six people at feast level comfortably. It could stretch to eight without being a big deal. I added Mac and Cheese, (almost as good as my own) cole slaw, and a whole pumpkin pie. I was only feeding four, so three days have passed and we still have not finished the leftovers. Russ' has always been one of my go to places for good food at a fair price. It still is. Russ' is good old nostalgia. My husband and I have been supporting local restaurants as much as possible lately and Russ' was next on our list. We both had chicken dinners (which is basically fried chicken out of the pressure cooker). For sides, we got au gratin potatoes and beef veggie soup. I also ordered a piece of apple pie. My favorite part of the meal was the apple pie. The chicken was okay- I'm happy it wasn't dry and the skin was just the right amount of crisp. The only thing is that it lacked much flavor. The au gratin potatoes were a little more creamy than I was expecting and were more of a scalloped potato than anything. The soup is pretty good but the beef is in large pieces and is a bit chewy so that's off-putting (in my personal opinion). The meal also came with a roll that may or may not have been short on shelf life (was getting a bit hard). Russ' does well for what they are. I wouldn't expect anything 5-star but they have some good options- it's just hit or miss depending on what you get. My favorite items are their onion rings and the perch sandwich. Can't really go wrong with fried! Check them out if you haven't! read more

Very clean restaurant, friendly service, and a delicious Michigan Cherry salad. All seemed fresh and was very tasty.

Always a treat to stop into any Russ'! The staff are always friendly, food is fresh and reminds me of days gone by. The fried chicken dinner is an absolute must along with a cream puff on the way out the door. The perch sandwich in the picture is also incredible! We have not had a lot of luck finding restaurants that serve breakfast that are up to our expectations. We hadn't been to Russ' in a long time because it's kind of out of our way. We decided to try it again because of the disappointment we had with the restaurants around us. The restaurant was not busy at all at 9:00 am. The place is clean but is in need of an update, especially the booth seats. The waitress was nice and right there when we needed her. The food was excellent and hot when brought to us. The coffee was very good and made fresh, unlike the other places we go to. We also bought a pack of pecan rolls on our way out to take home. We were quite happy with our meal and experience so are looking forward to going again. read more

I think people sleep on this small town spot disguised as a franchise. The food is consistently good, ultra inexpensive and every server that I've encounter has been on the top of their game. They often have coupons to make the ultra reasonable prices seems like a steal! Their desserts look awesome too- I have stayed diligent and haven't caved in just yet. But one day.... Came on a Monday evening around 5:00 and it was not busy at all (which is what I prefer!). Our waitress was Sarah (younger girl with brown hair), she was very friendly, attentive, and we were very pleased with our service from her! Thank you Sarah! I had the soup & salad bar (which comes with a baked potato if you like), today they had, cheese broc, potato, chicken & rice, and veggie beef. Rolls & salad. My wife and I dine there often. We have always been happy with the food and the friendly service. I'm there every Wednesday morning and usually have the same waitress and she does a super job! I wasn't too surprised that Russ Corp. named her the employee of the year! read more

I've come to this restaurant for years. I can remember my mom taking me here when I was a kid. Now, when we travel to Michigan, I now take my family here. Not much about Russ' has changed over the years - including the prices. There's nothing like paying 1987 prices in a 2015 world! The Slim Gem and chicken rice soup are the best! read more

We get breakfast to go from this place from time to time because it's nearby. They've gotten our order wrong several times before. Today, after my boyfriend sat in the drive through for quite some time ignored, he went in and ordered two orders of pancakes, two orders of bacon and two orders of hash browns to-go. When we got home, there was only one pancake in each pancake box. When we called to tell them, we were told they were handling a large order so we could come back in 10 minutes to get the pancakes we already waited for and payed for. When we told them we didn't think we should have to wait 10 minutes to come back for the rest of our food, they asked us if we could call back in 5 mins. The manager was apparently in the kitchen working on the big order. We didn't call back. We each ate our one pancake and won't go back. Their complete lack of concern about such a ridiculous mistake and nonexistent motivation to fix the issue will keep us from wanting to spend any more money there. read more

I was so unimpressed with this restaurant, we even called the manager, and that was of no help. We had children with us and their meal came after the adults meal. After. We were almost finished and it finally came, asked about a child's side meal from children's menu and ordered it, costs the same as adult menu. They wouldn't even use the price on the child's menu. Great food run by a great group of God fearing people. The food is priced reasonably and they are always nice and fast with the service.

Our waitress was Renee this morning 3/28/15 9:35am. Apparently I upset Renee who was very nice because she had not heard when I asked for waffle first and she was memorizing the order given by my husband and I. The sausage which is usually perfectly cooked, was over cooked to me ( I usually have my sausage just cooked nicely and not wrinkled and dark) and she was very nice in taking it back. My husband meanwhile received his correct order and enjoyed his meal while I waited patiently for the waffle and sausages. But as time went on and I noticed other waffles coming out etc for other tables and my husband was just about done with his breakfast and my bacon and hash brown became cool. I said to Renee don't worry about the waffle or sausage and I did not want anything else. She did assure me it was coming out but by then my husband was just about done with his breakfast. A few minute later another lady came out holding the waffle and sausages and proceeded to ask me are you sure you don't want these and I said no that's fine then she says Renee is at back bawling her eyes out and she is only human. I replied that I was sorry to hear that but no that was fine I did not want the breakfast again. I could have been rude because of the way this lady was standing over our table in a intimidating way but I held my tongue because I have been going to Russ over a year now and always look forward to their breakfast after my exercise class. The hostess who is usually very friendly was cool towards us as we paid. I understand mistakes are made and did not make a fuss and understand that Renee did her best. But what I don't understand is why this 2nd lady felt a need to come across with a high handed attitude. I did not have the problem with Renee but I had a problem with waiting for the waffle while others were coming out for the tables that came in after us and while the rest of my breakfast was getting cold and my husband was just about finished with his breakfast. It is great that Renee memorizes the orders but its not my fault that she forgot or did not hear me say waffles first and then double portion of bacon and hash browns. Russ has always been the highlight for breakfast for me on a Saturday morning, but I feel uncomfortable returning to this location. My intention was not to make Renee bawl her eyes out in the back as her colleague made it very clear. I just wanted to enjoy a nice breakfast with my husband in a restaurant that I enjoy going to every Saturday morning. read more
