Here my report of my surgery at Dr. Cannons office. The procedure was to remove my 4 wisdom teeth. I am from Germany and heard alot of horror stories from friends, which did this before. So I was aware and gave my wife already my last will in the morning. At 11am it started on time with some painfree injections and surprisingly that was the toughest part. After about 40min everything was done, I got some instructions and a small bag with all I need the next days. I was afraid of getting puffy and have some pain after the injection loses strenght, but neither occured. My cheeks stayed normal the next days! I took at 2pm 2 Ibuprofen and was even able to go to Laguna Beach the same day for dinner. My advice, don't be afraid to get your wisdom teeth out! I waited a long time and got some gum problems. My parents and I have been going to Dr. Cannon's office for over 20 years. I don't think I can remember ever going to another dentist. The staff make it a point to know you and how you are doing, if you are well, and they feel like extended family. In the past twenty years, Dr. Cannon has kept up with the best dental trends to help you get the smile you want, and he always has a new technique or procedure he has researched, so he is passionate about his job and giving the best quality to his patients. I have never had a bad experience while going into his office. Because he is always looking at new ways to maintain and improve your smile, he may recommend procedures that don't always seem necessary to you, but that's why he always sends my family and I home with a little bit of info and enough time to think on whether we'd like to go through with them. His wife, Debbie, helps him in his practice, along with Eva, who is another smart woman. Both are willing to help you or look into something for you if you have questions. Eva recently helped me with my chipped enamel by filing down the jagged part of my tooth to help relieve some of the sharpness when I run my tongue along my tooth. It will hold until I can work up the means to fully replace it. We recently lost Kitty at the front desk (If you are reading this, I hope your retirement is going well!). Nancy is new and still learning all the current patients, but she is a warm welcome when you come in if she is not already helping a patient on their way out. Absolutely love Dr. Cannon and his entire staff. I have been going to him for years and now bring my children to him as well. The atmosphere is very calming and welcoming, the minute you walk in you feel at ease, and are welcomed immediately. Dr. Cannon takes his time with each patient and truly does love what he does, which you can tell by the amazing work that he does. He doesn't rush or jump from one patient to the next he works on one patient at a time, and will answer any questions that you may have before he goes onto the next. He is also up to date on this ever changing industry, and will inform you on what is new and improved in the dentist industry. The remaining staff is the same way as well. Kitty the front desk manager is very kind, professional and informative. She is very welcoming and loves where she works and you can tell by the way she presents herself. She always remembers me and my little children, and When I have to do a cleaning for myself the staff will put a movie on for my children to watch as they wait for me to finish. And let's not forgot the kids favorite thing... The goodie box that is filled to the rim with every goodie that a little boy or girl would want. My husband went to a bad dentist before Dr. Cannon and a short appointment took longer than any of us expected, but we couldn't of been appreciative because he had to fix a problem that should of been avoided in the first place. I could go on and on about how truly amazing this office is, but all you have to do is pick up your phone and call to make an appointment so that YOU can find out for yourself. This dentist might be the best dentist in the world but I'll never know because I couldn't get past the front desk. All I wanted was a cleaning before I left town for the break and when I scheduled an appointment the ladywas adamant I get an x-ray and I was trying to explain I don't have time and that I simply want a cleaning and we went back and forth on that for a bit before I said thanks but no thanks. Anyway, she might have a good point about why they need x-rays (can't go in blind and such) but the thing is, no dentist I've been to before for a cleaning required them so I've already been conditioned. Oh, and read the fine print on their documents, they charge anywhere between $30-$300 for canceling an appointment without I think like 48 hour notice or something. Dood, life happens and sometimes you need to cancel, I wouldn't go to a place that charges a fee, every other dentist I've been to have a waiting list, someone cancels they call the next person on the list they don't charge for missing an appointment. So let's say I have an appointment for a cleaning and then my kid gets hurt and I need to bail, then I also get charged? No way man. read more

Great dental work, terrible billing practices. After 4 years, I have decided to stop going to Dr. Cannon. It is a shame because he and Eva do great work. However, I have had numerous problems with their billing practices. It is virtually impossible to get a cost estimate from them prior to treatment. The office manager, Kitty, will not send a request for a predetermination of benefits to your insurance provider unless you ask her to, and even then it sometimes takes some convincing. A few times I have had to settle for a verbal (not even written) cost estimate. Even if you do get a cost estimate or a predetermination prior to treatment, they'll sometimes add charges to the final bill that were not included in the estimate/predetermination. Sometimes it's a treatment that they knew would be needed beforehand but they forgot to include it in the estimate/predetermination, sometimes it's a treatment for a problem that they found along the way but never asked for the patient's consent to treat it, and sometimes it's a treatment that they left out of the cost estimate because they were sure that insurance would pay for it but insurance ended up not paying for it. If insurance refuses to pay, they will (sometimes rudely) demand that you pay the full amount. I've had this happen enough times now that I can no longer continue to go to Dr. Cannon for my dental care. read more

Oh and by the way, I got a second opinion from a Dentist and the diagnosis Dr Russell provided was incorrect. He was diagnosed me with three cavities. New dentist found them no where!!! Unbelievable. Please get a second opinion when you come here. Not only will you save hundreds of dollars but you will go to much more vibrant, helpful people. read more

A friend referred me to Dr. Cannon's office when I mentioned I was looking for a new dentist (I suspected my long-time dentist wasn't doing the best work). I was informed that since I was referred, I (and the person referring me) would get custom mouth trays and teeth whitening FREE! And a new thing of whitening gel at every cleaning. I was sold :) I've since referred a co-worker and will continue to refer anyone in search of a dentist. I needed a lot of work done (fillings replaced, and new fillings) - and Dr. Cannon & Eva did an awesome job. They definitely use more current techniques and technology than the office I was going to previously. Dr. Cannon really took the time to discuss my habits and what I can do to prevent cavities going forward. I trust them and their work, and appreciate their care during the procedures. If you do need any work done, they have a huge library of dvds that fills a 5-inch binder. It's crazy. You have your own little tv screen right in front of you, and headphones. Definitely a good distraction during drilling! Also, after my first visit they recommended I invest in the Sonicare toothbrush (which I got pretty inexpensive on Amazon) - and it has made a world of difference. Kitty and Debi have gone above and beyond for me as well, as far as billing with my insurance. Everyone here really cares! read more

I drive 45mn just to see the doc. Fantastic staff they are all extremely genuine people. Dr. Cannon is top notch in my opinion. He stays up to date in his industry and is capable of performing any procedure. Very talented Dr. Also he is quick and very thorough. When I first moved to Orange County, my dentist-at-the-time referred me to Dr. Cannon. I'm so glad he did! My old dentist was right, Dr. Cannon is fabulous! His staff are genuinely nice people, and Dr. Cannon always works with me to make my teeth sparkle white!! A few months ago, I was unable to find a sitter for my two-year-old and had an appointment! I thought my only option was to cancel my appointment. Nope, they encouraged me to bring in Lauren. They all played and played--and Lauren had a ball! So I cracked/chipped a molar this afternoon, Thursday, at about 2:30p. Not sure if the root was exposed, but my tooth did hurt, and I knew Dr. Cannon was closed Friday. I called his office and spoke with Nancy, explaining what I did and asked if Dr. Cannon could accommodate me today (didn't want to go all weekend with my tooth hurting.) I knew Dr. Cannon and his staff were wrapping up the day and the likelihood of him taking me were slim to none. I was wrong! Without hesitation, Nancy said "Get in as fast as you can." I did, and Dr. Cannon worked his magic. Thank you all for the quick accommodation, fantastic treatment and putting up with my quirkiness. You're the best! read more

Dr Cannon has been my dentist for the better part of the last decade and I trust him completely with my dental health. Honestly. What I love about him is that he breaks complicated procedures down so that I can easily understand them. In addition, he doesn't rest on his knowledge, it seems like nearly everytime I am in the office he is reffering to a recent study that he has been reading about. I respect health officials who check their egos at the door and realize that there is always more to learn...as a result my mouth is healthier than ever and and would never consider going anywhere else. My experience at this place was a disappointment. I was recommended several unnecessary procedures. It is also outrageously expensive compared to other dentist. When I requested my X-rays they told me there would be a $25 charge. Ridiculous!! I had to pay again to get my X-rays from them. They are super pushy. He gives you the same care he would give to his mother. If you are ever in pain and need his help he is available 24 hours a day to assist.
