So happy that Rustica opened this location. I don't think that they bake anything here, could be wrong, but everything is fresh and well stocked. The selection easily matches the uptown and southdale locations. Coffee drinks and tea are available too. It's not a large space but it works. Finally a decent bakery on the west side!

I had a solo breakfast here and the breakfast sandwich was delicious! One I would definitely go back for. Service was good and everyone was very friendly.

Service os ridiculously SLOW, very little space to sit down. NO place to Stand as you wait for your drink. Don't recommend.

We arrived for our appointment and David was the only person in the shop. We sat down to do our trial and a customer duo came in. One who we assume knows David personally who was bringing her "out of town friend" (we later found out her friend is from Golden valley) to try out the cupcakes. David left us at the table and never came back for questions. We kept trying to signal him to come back as we had questions on if we could put certain fillings with certain cakes. My anxiety started to climb as he continued to ignore us for these two ladies purchasing 2 cupcakes. This was my first time ever being a bride and I am a baker since my grandmother taught me to bake when I was little. To say I was looking forward to picking out my wedding cake more than my wedding dress was accurate and yet here we were being completely ignored by David. After they had a long conversation about this and that David finally came back to us and asked what we wanted to do. My fiance stepped up and said we had a few questions. I then began to ask if we could pair the caramel with the white cake and Davids response was as if I was the dumbest person on the earth for not knowing you can not put it on white cake since it cant support it. We asked if the cookies and cream filling could be put on white cake and he just kept giving us answers as if we were wasting his time. Not treating us like we were going to purchase large cake for a wedding. I started to shut down since I started fearing asking any questions. He then started asking us if we wanted tiered or cupcakes and obviously I had questions about if pricing would look different and all that so my husband had to ask the questions. I ended up in tears unable to make a decision and hating my interaction with David and his lack of customer service. We walked out of there with myself in tears unsure what to do because David was absolutely the worst. We reached out to our venue/catering manager about the experience and she told us that should not have been what happened and told us we should try the st paul location and that she would ensure we have someone who is actually friendly to work with us. If we were not required to use this bakery after this experience, we would have not.

They did not offer much for customization options when it came to the cake, but it was fine given that they had about 4 days notice. I would order from them again if I need something in a pinch!

Today I tried their Roast Beef on Weck, which is carved roast beef on a type of roll called a Weck (a Kaiser-style roll topped with coarse salt and caraway seeds.). The restaurant was busy, and this is not a trendy place! I'd be surprised if there was anyone in the restaurant who was not of Medicare age (which also describes me; I'm not being ageist, just truthful). This is something that is available for lunch, during the week (not on weekends). Previously, I wanted to order this before. It was at the beginning of the lunch hour, so unfortunately the end pieces were cooked well-done. I asked if they would cut from the center, which is much more rare, but they wouldn't do that. This time, we came later and I could see that the roast beef was gloriously rare, which is what I like. The sandwich was quite enjoyable because it was juicy and flavorful. It comes with a side of cole slaw which is vinegar based (which I liked, but isn't traditional in the Midwest). It's difficult to find good, rare roast been in the Twin Cities, so this was another good find. My wife had the matzo ball soup, which remains high quality. The beef on weck sandwich (with coleslaw) was nearly $20, which is a bit on the expensive side. The service is spotty. It depends upon who is your waitstaff person (I knew it would be slow based on our previous experience with this person).
