I may have to update this review after I try more selections, but for now it was just okay. There actually use to be another cafeteria here before Rustle and Roux open. We use to just call it the AT&T Cafeteria. Anyways...I was excited to see all the different food stations and I spotted Chef Fabio Viviani :) I was having a really hard time deciding. My friend and I decided that when in doubt go with Pizza. I wish we would have went with something else though :( We went to the Mercato station and I ordered the Oven Roasted Wild Mushroom pizza and my friend ordered the Pulled Pork pizza. It was about a 10 minute wait. He really enjoyed the avocado and the pulled pork on the pizza. As for mine I enjoyed the mushrooms, but the rest of the pizza I felt tasted rather bland. We both enjoyed the pizza crust though that was cooked in the wood oven. I have on my hit list to go back and get the Mercadito taco's. I have been to Mercadito several times, so if they taste exactly the same as the restaurant I will be a frequent visitor. Since today was their grand opening they were giving out free samples. I thought the mac and cheese was pretty good as well as the quinoa salad. As for the décor/ambience I would say it's a nice place to go to with co workers. Lots of seating and open space. There was a violinist there...not sure how long there going to keep that up, but overall decent looking space.

Everyone was super nice and friendly - gives off that old school diner where everyone is family. Just got a basic breakfast meal that consisted of eggs, sausage, and a side of pancakes. Ordered some bacon on the side. Everything was really good and the sausage was deliciously crisp and had that "snap". The pancakes were soft and fluffy. The price is also very reasonable. Also, they have Barack Obama breakfast specials. So cool as it looks like our former President frequently ate here as he has pictures up on their wall with the workers. This time around, Cafe Marcela's Puerto Rican cuisine had the honor. We were staying in Logan Square, and only had time to hit up one jibarito spot. Cafe Marcela's had such great reviews, and we kept seeing day workers walk in and out with their lunch takeout orders...so we knew it was gonna be fire. The interior is old school meaning zero AC. So yes it gets hot especially in summer, so most people did take away. But the staff is so friendly, quick, and the kitchen is open hence the heat. Their menu has something for everything, and the cafe-style makes for lots of drooling behind the counter. Their fried plantains and stewed meat looked so good, but I only had space and appetite for that jibarito de pollo. The fried plantains just have such a hold on me! SO freakin good, flavorful, and finger-licking tasty. They also had lots of conchas and flan de coco for sale. It took everything in me to not grab some sweet treats as well. Their smoothies de frutas looked so tasty too. Honestly, can't wait to come back here next time.

Today, we were in a pickle for lunch, so I decided to give it a shot and hope that the menu i found online was accurate. It's nice to have another option for lunch within walking distance from us. It's a shame we slept on this for so long, we will definitely be back.

The staff were really welcoming, for an early morning. I got the hot chocolate. Honestly that's exactly what I needed that morning. It had that real Mexican chocolate taste. Thick, creamy, smooth and rich. The cinnamon came through warm but not too strong, plus a little extra on top that hit your nose before the first sip. Sweet and it almost had this slight earthy note too... hard to explain but good. It even had that little design on top, like the ones they do on cappuccinos. Didn't expect that but it was cool. I finished it slow. Didn't wanna rush it. Just sat there taking small sips and enjoying it while it was still hot.
