We were staying next door at the Hilton Garden Inn so we stopped in after a hockey game. We sat at the bar to avoid a wait for seating, maybe the most comfortable bar stools on the planet. Tried the Sinistor Black, a dark ale which was nice. The special was an Asiago stuffed gnocchi in a curry sauce which sounded too good to pass up. While it was unique, l wasn't impressed and would probably go more meat and potatoes next time. read more

We recently visited The Rusty Moose for my grandma's 89th birthday, and unfortunately, it was one of the most disappointing experiences we've ever had there. Clearly, they were disorganized or short-staffed, but instead of admitting that, they spoke to us rudely as if it were our fault. About four weeks before the dinner, my uncle made a reservation at 6:00 PM. Since I wasn't sure how many would be in my group, I made a separate reservation for my family of six and called to ask if we could be seated near my grandma's party. The staff said they couldn't guarantee it but would do their best, which I appreciated. I even called again closer to the date, and they confirmed it was noted that we wanted to be next to the birthday group. When we arrived, there were several open tables near my grandma's party, including two booths and multiple six-person tables, but we were taken to the complete opposite side of the restaurant. The staff told us those tables were reserved, but they definitely were not when I made my reservation three weeks earlier. According to my family, most of those same tables stayed empty the entire evening, even after my grandma's party ended. When I asked why we could not sit in one of the empty tables, a supervisor came over and immediately took a rude and condescending tone. He told me to "let him explain his side" and not to interrupt and I could offer a rebuttal when he was done. He was speaking so loudly that nearby staff and guests could hear. I asked him to lower his voice, but he continued to talk over me. He kept focusing on their "party" policy and automatic gratuity, which was never the issue. We've celebrated other birthdays at The Rusty Moose before, covering the entire bill ourselves, and have always tipped generously. When I went over to say goodbye to my grandma, who was just sitting down with the rest of the family, my aunt politely asked the server if we could sit at one of the nearby empty tables, or if two of our people could join the main group. The server curtly said no because they had "already started putting waters on the table." That response said everything about the lack of flexibility and customer care that evening. It was clear they had no interest in trying to accommodate us, even slightly. This was my grandma's 89th birthday, and she's been in poor health. She and several family members drove a few hours to be there. We weren't asking for special treatment, just to be near our family, as we had planned weeks in advance. At that point we decided to leave and not dine there. It was heartbreaking that a restaurant we've supported for years handled such an important family occasion with so little care or professionalism. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and reminds their staff that hospitality is about people, not policies. As far as I'm concerned, I will never go there again and I assume the rest of party would never dine there again. Not related to this particular birthday party, but during a previous visit to The Rusty Moose, our daughter became violently ill after eating their food. I had assumed it was a one-time issue and hadn't planned to comment, but given our most recent experience, it feels worth noting. read more

Third time to visit the restaurant. Made reservations this time. Showed up a bit early. Hostess asked us to grab a seat while she checked to make sure our table was ready as promised. A minute or two we were seated. Waitress was working other tables so the hostess brought two water glasses. Within five the waitress came over introduced herself and took our drink and food orders. Team work here was exceptional. Salads and food were delivered by two different persons, salads cold and freshly made and the dinners served hot. This time wife and I tried their prime rib stroganoff. Very tasty. A little too much on the salt. But then we have been trying to go low salt. Our taste buds have changed a bit. Still a great meal. The deserts were great as well. Cheese cake and crème brûlée nicely presented with dalops of whipped cream on the 3 corners of the plates. On the way out saw some friends from church at another table. They were enjoying a great meal as well. I spent three nights unexpectedly as a patron of the Rusty Moose, and I was suspicious of the good reviews of the saloon/restaurant across the parking lot. But with this experience I am a fan. The food held it's own amidst no competitors, but the service exceeded the reviews. My compliments. And night after night the bartender, Tim, was personable, helpful, and altogether professional. Solid first visit to Rusty Moose. I ordered the grilled trout special that originally came with rice but I requested to substitute macaroni & cheese. The mac was very good. The dish came with large stalks of asparagus which were cooked perfectly. My husband had the prime rib stroganoff and really enjoyed it. I tried a noodle with the sauce and thought it had great flavor. Our server was very friendly and helpful. On a whim coming from the airport we found this super cute little restaurant. The decor is cozy cabin and 2 fireplaces to boot. Hubby had the hot roast beef sandwich and he said it was exceptional. Mashed cheesy potatoes and hearty beef sauce. I had the pulled pork sandwich with the onion rings, and it was very good. Looks like they have a full bar. Waited about 30 minutes to be seated. 2 sodas, an appetizer (that was delivered halfway through the meal and after I mentioned it was forgotten), 1 surf and turf and a nice steak as entrées, and the bill was $122. And yes indeed, it is exactly what it says it is, no restrictions. That said, our table guests had the bison meatloaf, mango street tacos, & chicken fried bison steak. All meals were very good and the service was also very good. Nothing particularly 'wow'd us, but again pretty darn good overall. This restaurant has morphed a bit from what used to be something like a Pioneer Pies to something with higher end food choices. The pricing has escalated along with that as well. We might make this a stop on an evening when looking for something a little more upscale but can't really see being a regular stop. We were regulars to their lounge as they have a great cocktail and appetizer menu however our last visit was upsetting. It was during the holidays and we were taking our friends there because of the happy hour specials however when we got there the lounge was full. We agreed to sit in the Dining room and asked for a lounge menu. We were told we could not order off the lounge menu if we weren't in the lounge. My husband offered to go stand in the lounge And order the items we wanted and bring them back To Our table. We were told that was not allowed. We had a very nice meal at the Rusty Moose. Started with Moose juice. Yum yum and the gorgonzola fries. They are loaded with lots of flavors. Bison meatloaf, prime rib dip and the special rib eye steak were on our table. Everything came out quickly and was delicious. Our server was attentive and friendly and checked on us regularly. The portions are large and we all agreed it was a great experience in dining. We topped it off with some desserts that were epic. The huckleberry cheesecake, Marionberry apple crisp and a special birthday surprise for our daughters birthday finished our evening perfectly. . We have been long time customers of your establishment, years in fact. When it was Prospector. We came on Friday June 20th at 5:45pm. We were told it was a 45 minute wait. No worries put our name in and waited our turn. Well 45 minutes goes into a 60 minutes with several people being called ahead of us who did not have reservations and were also parties of 2. I finally head back up to the front and ask the person what's going on and she gives me some lame excuse that we are next. And to our amazement a party of 2 gets called ahead of us again. Not sure what the deal was, but needless to say to sat we had enough and left. Everyone acted like it was just the norm. Sorry it was a no go for us. We have decided to not return for some time. I really enjoyed the hunter aesthetic in this restaurant!! My group had a reservation and we still had to wait quite a bit past our reservation time which is why i deducted a star. The service was fast and friendly, they were very helpful and interacted with us by talking to us rather than robotically taking our order. Food was super good, each person in my group said they enjoyed their meal and we tried a little of everyone's dish! I was surprised to find this gem in Airway Heights. I was in town for three days of hunting. It was so nice to shower and go out for a nice dinner every night after long days in the field. I went here three nights in a row because the staff was friendly and the food was really good. I had the Italian flathead pizza twice. The dough seems fresh and it was baked perfectly. The ingredients were of high quality. The bar was incomplete but adequate. The bartenders were a bit inexperienced but were open to suggestions. It is always a little disappointing when an upscale bar serves the red kiddie cherries instead of the correct Luxardos in a Manhattan. On the third night the bartender made me his off menu signature cocktail, an orange creamsicle martini. The flavors were spot on, but it should be strained before serving. We have been a frequent customer at Rusty Moose over the past 8 years and have had many family members join us through our time... We have had parties as large as 10 and I have used my military discount, it's never been an issue till 12-26-24.. Made a reservation for my family and in-laws which were in town. I let the waiter know I was military so he could discount before the bill.. When he brought the bill he asked me to tell him who at the table was immediate family for the discount. We have never been asked this before over many many times there.. I let him know it was my wife, kids, son in law and his parents.. Why did you ask this one time? Was it because my in-laws are black and we are white? I hate to think that was the case but I really have no other explanation...
