Rusty Moose is a Spokane institution, plain and simple. They have fresh selections, which such choices as Elk and Bison! I had the Wagyu burger with a side of their macaroni & cheese. I've never been disappointed, here. Their food is always tasty and filling, so much so that I cannot speak for their dessert selections! The entree is always perfectly enough. Their staff is friendly and efficient. They take care of you without overwhelming you. And yes, there's plenty of old west motif on the walls. This is a spot I never miss while in Spokane. Recommended!

SO. FREAKING. GOOD. I was supposed to share my huckleberry salmon with a friend but I ate the whole thing before she got back to the table... oops and so freaking delicious. Everything we got was amazing. I would come here again and again!

We ordered takeout from this restaurant and unfortunately, it was a mixed experience. We got the Kids Quesadilla for $7.99 and honestly, it wasn't worth the price. It was just cheese and tortillas... nothing special and not even particularly good. The quesadilla didn't even have any girth to it.. as you can see from my pictures, it came as super thin slices. I really don't recommend ordering this dish for your kids, at least not for that price. Really disappointing. On a brighter note, the Huckleberry Pulled Pork Sandwich was actually quite delicious.. def the highlight of our order. We also tried the Free Range Bison Burger but it was pretty underwhelming. Nothing about it stood out and we wouldn't order it again. When we arrived to pick up our food, the service wasn't great either. We let someone know we were there for a takeout order but they didn't even acknowledge us and just walked back to the kitchen. That left a poor first impression. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We didn't dine in so I can't comment on cleanliness but the interior did have a nice stone-lodge kind of vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Overall, we were disappointed with our experience... esp after being excited to try this place.

We stopped at the Rusty Moose since it's close to the airport and easy to get to before a flight. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place has a cozy mountain lodge feel, with lots of wood, stone, and warm lighting.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's definitely a casual dining place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. We went in for a late lunch and waited about fifteen minutes for a table, which wasn't bad. Our server was friendly, quick, and on top of things without hovering. The food was good. The Wagyu Burger was juicy and full of flavor, cooked perfectly and served on a soft bun that held up. The Stroganoff had tender beef and a rich sauce that felt like real comfort food. The Fish and Chips came out hot and crispy, and the Rib Dip was the hit of the table, plenty of meat with a flavorful au jus for dipping. Everything tasted fresh, came out quickly, and looked good on the plate. The portions were generous, and everyone left happy and full. Prices were fair for the quality, and the whole experience felt easy and enjoyable. I'd definitely go back next time I'm in the area, maybe for dinner to try a few more dishes.

Stopped in for a quick bite. Oh my...what a menu..Will be back whenever in Spokane. Wife had the prime rib stroganoff. Delicious. I sampled appitizers Elk stuffed mushrooms, and elk stuffed meatballs...wow...amazing, great selection of bourbons as well.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]As a first time visitor to Spokane, I fell in love with the town. I loved the peaceful friendly vibe everyone seems to carry.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]This restaurant blew me away. From the life-size moose out front, to the hunters lodge feel inside[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. I was seated right away by a young friendly hostess. My server Stephan arrived and detailed the beers on tap. I chose a Rusty IPA and it was terrific. I had to text my son in law a pic of the menu for advice on what he would order? It came down to either the Duck Pot Pie or the Scallops on Risotto. I got both. Why not? Both were awesome but the scallops were my favorite between the two. I cleaned both plates. The Duck Pot Pie was well seasoned and comforting for a snowy day. The scallops were cooked perfectly. Tender and melted in my mouth. The risotto was creamy and flavorful. I tried to make my last bite a scallop and rissoto, but I couldn't. I had to finish them first. I have told my colleagues about this restaurant when they visit the area, as well as my family when I returned home. I can't wait to go back.

Friendly service, but you'll wait a few minutes for a table. The cocktails are lovely. The wagyu burger (a special) was one of the best I've had in years. Let me start by saying the service at The Rusty Moose was excellent--truly. Our server was attentive, friendly, and radiated the kind of calm one needs when watching diners slowly realize they've made a terrible, salty mistake. If it weren't for the sweet angel of a server, I might have stormed out before the burger even arrived, possibly kicking over a taxidermy elk on the way. But everything else? A surreal culinary horror show that played out like an episode of Fear Factor--if Fear Factor had a lodge-themed menu and a fixation on salt levels usually reserved for sidewalk de-icing. The meal began with the onion rings. I use the word "onion" lightly here, because I'm not convinced there was any actual vegetable involved. These deep-fried halos of sodium tasted like someone dared the kitchen to recreate the Dead Sea in crunchy form. One bite and I was instantly parched, like I'd spent 12 hours with my tongue on a salt lick at a petting zoo. It came with two sauces: a weird, cloying purple mystery syrup, and an aioli the color of aged mayonnaise with the flavor of mustard and existential dread. I looked around for the hidden camera. I'm 75% sure this was an elaborate prank. If so--bravo. I was punk'd. Ostensibly, ketchup is considered too déclassé to grace the tables. I had to shamefully requesting it from the kitchen, probably angering the spirits of moose past. as it seemingly doesn't match the aesthetic of black-and-white 1950s wives posing with lake trout. I had to request ketchup like I was asking for contraband. They brought it out in a precious little cruet, as if I were going to drizzle it on a scallop, not drown my salty prison-fries in it. Speaking of which--I got the burger and fries. The burger had a cute little moose logo branded on the bun, which is the equivalent of putting a gold sticker on a biology exam you failed. It tasted like... nothing. Either it was bland, or the onion rings had permanently damaged my taste buds. The fries came in one of those adorable little fryer baskets that ensures you get about 7 fries total. Just enough to make you angry. "We don't want you to feel full, but we do want you to Instagram this." My brother ordered the potato soup and the Prime Rib Dip. The soup was a sad, watery brine--basically meat tea. The sandwich was a chewy mess that made him say, "Honestly, I wish I had ordered a McRib." I watched his soul leave his body somewhere between bite two and three. And that man has eaten gas station sushi, so he knows bad choices. My 7-year-old son ordered the grilled cheese from the kids' menu, which was less "grilled cheese" and more "warm, adhesive square of dairy-adjacent substance." The cheese was so aggressively artificial, I'm pretty sure it could survive nuclear winter, along with cockroaches and Twinkies. Now let's talk about the real experience: cut to me, sitting on the floor of the Spokane airport bathroom, praying for death. I was sweating like a sinner in church, gritting my teeth, and gripping the toilet bowl like it owed me money. Whatever seasoning compound they use at The Rusty Moose had triggered what I can only describe as salt-fueled dysentery. My stomach gurgled like a lava flow, and I briefly considered going to urgent care. I projectile vomited what remained of my burger and artisanal fryer basket fries into the toilet with the force of a Yellowstone geyser. The moose on the burger bun should've been a warning sign--like when Marty Moose tells the Griswolds the park's closed. Except in this case, the "park" was my digestive system. Look, I get it. You want a cozy, cabin-themed meal. But if you value your organs and your dignity, keep driving. You can get the same ambiance by licking a Himalayan salt lamp while staring at a moose-shaped cookie cutter. Could it just be this was an outlier experience? Quite possibly... There seem to be some other very positive reviews here. But Foran out-of-town about to get on a plane back to Southern California, this was a near Miss. Or as George Carlin might say: a near hit. Two stars--for the service and for the unforgettable experience. But much like Bullwinkle trying to pull a rabbit out of his hat, this place keeps trying--and failing--to deliver something magical.

Hands down one of the best meals I've had in Spokane! The prime rib dip was absolutely incredible -- tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned with a rich au jus that took it over the top. I'd go back just for that sandwich alone. The Caesar salad was crisp and flavorful with just the right amount of dressing, and the loaded potato soup was creamy, comforting, and full of flavor. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, and the service was just as impressive as the food.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If you're in Spokane, The Rusty Moose is a must-try, especially for that prime rib dip!

The hostess had a weird vibe. She kept asking everyone if they had a reservation. (For lunch? At a restaurant in a hotel parking lot by the airport?!) We ended up waiting for over 15 minutes even though half the restaurant was unoccupied. I assume the kitchen or wait staff was short-staffed, but it would've been nice if the hostess had explained that, as lots of other waiting patrons were complaining. That being said, our server was lovely and the food was great! Even the ranch and house sauces are noteworthy. My huckleberry mocktail was divine! I would definitely return, but maybe I'll make a reservation next time ;)

I agree with Steve - it is alright. I can't say that I care one way or another. The mozzarella sticks were delicious and unique (why fry a whole thing of mozzarella then cut it into sticks). The pizza had decent flavor. My wife ordered the chicken with pasta small portion and got more than 2 meals out of it. I guess if that is what you are looking for then it is fine, even good. I am not looking for that. Stuffed animals on the wall and oversized portions are not my thing. well flavored, relatively healthy fare is what I prefer, and that is certainly not what happens here. read more

I love the atmosphere here and decor in the dining room. It has never been too crowded and everything i have ordered has been quite tasty. They have moose drool on tap which is a big + in my book. I have loved just about every dish I have tried, from fish tacos, to beef stroganoff, I get s'mores for desert because it is fun to toast marshmallows in the restaurant. My wife and I come here for special occasions because it was the first sit down restaurant we stopped at when we were scoping out Spokane as a place to live, it will always hold a special place in our hearts read more

I wish i could give less than 1 star. Horrible. They lost our reservation and were terrible about it. Didn't even try to apologize. I saw it happen to several other people after us on mother's day of all days. This would have been fine if the food didn't suck. 0/5 stars. Disgusting. read more

Microwaved cold pizza, returned twice and still cold and raw dough! Son, asparagus and rice with salmon had zero seasoning. Gluten free bison burger, also microwaved and inconsistent. Been coming for years and quality has gone down and prices up. Servers tried hard to compensate read more

I was finally seated after a 10-15 min wait, apparently to enjoy the ambiance since no one left before I was seated. Once seated, I had to wait an addition 10 mins before placing my order. Had the NY Streak which was cooked to order (med. rare), but lacked any flavor except for the charring from the grill. Cheese mashed potatoes where kind of dry, but the French onion soup was good. Wine selection is very limited, however they did have a Hess Select Cab which was very nice. read more

Nice place, front desk at Wingate recommended so thought would check out. Had Chicken Southwest Salad, couple. Beers, they have nice selection of Northwest and local beers. My server was Aunna, great job and very friendly, will return. read more

The concept of his place is decorate with faux "great north lodge" decor including mounted moose heads, build a huge bar and drinking establishment and then put in a kitchen as an afterthought. Our server was very friendly and efficient, but the kudos stop there. We ordered sandwiches for kunch. My house specialty burger was ordered grilled medium, but came out of the kitchen well done and with less moisture than the Sahara desert. The accompanying fries were stone cold and clearly had been out of the fryer for awhile. I hate to wash down a meal but it was necessary here. My spouse's patty melt turned out fine, but same problem with the cold fries. We skipped dessert. Our reason for selecting this restaurant was its close proximity to the hotels around Spokane Airport (GEG). Next time we visit, we will drive the extra distance to downtown Spokane for a better dining experience. read more

I was really excited to try this place and ended up leaving very disappointed. I paid $40 for a Cowboy Ribeye steak that had zero flavor!! My mother-law-in tried the Sirloin Streak and her steak had zero flavor as well. Very disappointing. :/ read more

This place had a great craft beer selection. The ambience was great, also. I wasn't a huge fan of the fish tacos. Not a lot of food and the tortillas might have been the gluten-free ones. I was told the burgers were good. Service was just fine. I would come back in a pinch, but there is so much good food in Spokane that I wouldn't go out of my way. read more

We liked it. Everything tasted great. We had fish tacos, hamburger and stroganoff. All very good. The staff was clean and friendly and service was good. Plenty to look at white your in there as well. We sat by the fireplace and Grandma was warm and toasty. We will come back. read more

The bar/ lounge area has a super cool woodsy / modern vibe. We sat back there for some happy hour specials and we were not disappointed! The fireplace and cool wood accent made me want to transform my house. I felt like I was in some chic bar in Aspen. We ended up with enough food for leftovers so can't complain about that. My husband splurged on one of the expenses steaks, but he said he was a tad bit disappointed. Regardless, we had a fun time. read more

I love this place! I've eaten here 3 times and it's been absolutely on target each time. The salmon was well prepared, the forbidden rice was a nice surprise and their salads are well-proportioned and fresh. Ate here for Fathers Day mainly because we've eaten here before while traveling through Spokane and there is nothing else near the airport. Ordered prime rib and steaks with side salads. Steaks and prime rib showed up and then the salads came out. NG. Sent the salads away. We were not charged for them. Got a coupon for a future visit. My prime rib was chewy and not prime. Poor. I should've complained early on but didn't. My bad. Disappointment in quality for the price. Stick with sandwiches and burgers here. I've learned my lesson. read more

Not bad for a quick meal with reasonable prices. I tried the Italian flatbread. Pretty decent pizza for the price and was ready in less than 10 minutes, although I'm not are I'd call it a flatbread. Definitely an okay spot if you're looking for a quick meal or easy takeout. read more

It's nice to walk from Hilton Garden Inn. I had the Blackened Rib eye without seasoning or sauce medium rare. The steak was about 1/2 " thick. Very tough. It is extremely lean, no marbling. They grilled nicely, but couldn't easily cut it and even more difficult to cut. Other menu choices were all ground meats with sauces. I am always suspect when restaurants put lots of sauce on an otherwise great meal. For $ 30, this was a Dennys cut steak. Won't eat here again. read more

This place was perfect! I came in alone and ate in the lounge. The cocktail selection is fun and my Greek chicken salad came out fast! When it came time for dessert, they have this fun s'mores dish where you can roast your own marshmallows. Since I was alone and the dish served 4, I asked for a half portion (2 s'mores) and it was no problem for them to make it happen. Such a relaxing and fun dinner! read more

The second best place to eat in Spokane so far, they have adequate service and the food is average to good. If there prices matched there food and service it would be great but they are one of three places that better than just consumption food. I guess you pay for the optical view of eating in a decent restaurant. read more

Outstanding service and excellent food. My wife and I both had the Blackened Chicken Salad and were very pleased. Nicely presented and completely delicious. The chicken was lightly blackened with a southwestern-style dry rub, served with a wild greens salad, roasted corn, cheese garnish, topped with slices of fresh avacado. The location felt a bit isolated but they were busy with customers and I can see why. Neat decor... sort of a hunting lodge motif. The Rusty Moose is walking distance from the Hilton Garden Inn, close to the airport. Worth the trip even if you have to drive across town. read more

Went here 2 nights during Airfest. The atmosphere was real fun. The service was very good but the food and pricing was the problem Thought the prices on the steaks a bit high. 3 had the medallion it was tender but no flavor. The pepper sauce was uneatable. The prime rib dip was fine bit not much meat. The cole slaw very good. Just not impressed with the food. read more

I was not a fan. The place looks great and is clean and has cute decor but the service was awful and slow. It appears the hiring manager hires people based on looks because everyone who works there is great looking. It they are not great servers. Food is mediocre and over priced. I order the huckleberry pulled pork sandwich and it was the worst thing I've ever eaten. I took one bite and that was all I could stomach. The waitress never returned to check on us she only brought us outlets check and didn't even bother to notice I had not even touched my food. Or she noticed but didn't care. Will not return. read more

My family and I went there for Dinner on a Saturday night. We waited about 10 minutes to get a table. The service was average. Not real fast, but not real slow. We tried the onion rings for an appetizer and we all thought they were pretty good. I got a venison burger which I thought was average, the fries were excellent. My mom ordered some steak tips, but they were tough to chew on. She rated them a 3 out of 10. I tried them and I agreed. My dad ordered the venison spaghetti meatballs and said it was good. Overall it was okay food, average service, loud atmosphere. Not an experience that is a must come back. read more

We were first timers at this restaraunt as we just moved close to Airway Heights and we wanted to try something new. We went in and got seated and were enjoying all of the stuff to look at on the walls. We were promptly greeted by our server Shelby M. She was very attentive and was able to reccomend some of her favorite foods (which we ordered) and also drinks. She made our whole entire experience that much better. We went back in shortly after and made sure we asked for her. Being a server early on in life I loved it when people asked for me. Made me feel appreciated. Again she did not dissapoint with service and our food as usual was great! We will definitely continue to go back just on the amazing service we receive every time we go in, and the food is just a bonus! :-) PS the white cheddar mashed potatos are to die for and the blackened steak (if you like a little spice) is amazing. Great food and service! You MUST get the Elk meatballs to start! So flavorful and delicious! I got the mango fish tacos and my boyfriend got the prime rib dip both also delicious! Staff was friendly and attentive. Highly recommend this restaurant! read more

The place is very clean & the decor is awesome, if you are looking for good food however you might want to keep moving. I had a French dip sandwich with about 3 ounces of beef, watery au jus & the onion rings were wrapped in the thickest pancake batter, it wasn't even done in the middle. It was great to visit on a busy Saturday night. They only had two servers in the cigar lounge but they were gracious and checked on me in the seating area. I chatted with some of the folks at the bar which has a great vibe which I truly miss the most. It's great to visit and experience that again. I will always stop in when I visit family on the east side of WA state. Keep it up NQC!

Most recently, on a Friday evening around 7 PM, my party was seated near the end of the bar by the restroom area. A server approached me in a confrontational manner and told me to move my chair because it was blocking the walkway. I immediately complied and moved it where he directed. Despite that, he repeatedly pushed and squeezed past the chair in an aggressive way several times afterward and then returned to confront me about it again. The interaction felt hostile, unnecessary, and unprofessional. Unfortunately, this wasn't an isolated incident. On a previous visit, a female server was rude and controlling toward our table, and on another occasion when we were unhappy with a menu item, the response was essentially, "You ordered it, you pay for it," with no attempt to address the concern professionally. The atmosphere is great, which is why we've continued to come back. However, after several visits involving rude and confrontational interactions with staff, it feels more like an ongoing culture issue than a one-time bad experience. I don't expect special treatment, but I do expect basic courtesy and respect. Hopefully management takes these concerns seriously and works to improve the customer experience.

The middle aged blondish female bartender stepped in and said "You ordered a non alcoholic mojito, it's basically just lemon juice and seltzer water. You are a fucking child." I understand everyone has bad days but that is unacceptable and you chose to work in customer service so at least try to be decent to your customers instead of being rude with the first words that came out of your mouth. We closed our tab and walked out without even finishing our drinks. We will definitely not be going back there ever again. The young man was a very nice guy but the customer service we received from the middle aged lady was enough to leave and never come back.

I gave a $10 tip, not because she provided exceptional service but because in the food industry we understand that some days are hard and who knows why service was so awful, maybe it was just crappy today, I hoped it wasn't a typical day and that service was usually better. Unfortunately, that was the second time I had horrible service there, both times were awful & both times we had a different bartender. So, moving forward, the following day when the charges went through on my husbands card, the charge said entertainment so we assumed it was a mixup and called the hotel thinking they charged us for a movie in which we knew we didn't rent or buy. After several days we got the call telling us it wasn't from the hotel. The charge was in fact from the bar. It was then we realized we were over charged. The gal either added her own tip or rang someone else's drinks with ours. So we tried calling during the normal business hours and during a non-rush time in mid morning and the phone just rang and rang. We still haven't been able to talk to anyone about this. We do intend to go in to the bar in person to get this straightened up.

They weren't fall of the bone tender, but still tender enough. The coleslaw on the side was very sour and spicy. It was more like spicy sauerkraut rather than coleslaw. The seafood boil was underwhelming small especially for the price. The shrimp were overcooked. The clams were very small. The muscles still had beards. The potatoes and corn were cooked nicely. It needed more salt and sauce. The sweet teas came unsweetened and while it did came with sugar on the side - the grains were too big to actually stir in. And I would like the mentioned that my cup of water had black specks floating around in it. All in all - I wouldn't return.

The Rusty Moose is hands down one of the best restaurant experiences I have ever had. I'm visiting from out of town and rely heavily on Find Me Gluten Free when choosing where to eat because I have a serious gluten sensitivity. From the moment I arrived, I could tell this team truly understands food allergies and takes them seriously. That level of knowledge and care immediately put me at ease. The food was absolutely spectacular. The gluten-free bun was one of the best I've ever had, and every bite of my meal was packed with flavor. The sauces were incredible, the fries were perfectly crispy, and you can genuinely taste the attention to detail that goes into every item that leaves the kitchen. What impressed me even more than the food was the service. In all my years of dining out, I have rarely experienced a team this friendly, professional, and attentive. Every employee I encountered--from the hosts to the servers, management, and everyone in between--was genuinely kind, welcoming, and committed to creating an exceptional guest experience. The restaurant itself is beautiful, clean, and comfortable, with a great atmosphere and a full bar that offers something for everyone. It's clear that the owners and leadership have created a culture where hospitality matters and where every guest is treated like a valued customer. Finding a restaurant that excels at gluten-free dining while also delivering phenomenal food and world-class service is incredibly rare. The Rusty Moose does both effortlessly. I have been a consistent visitor to the Rusty Moose over the last several years. If you haven't been there.....GO! If you are frequent visitors like my husband and I ... we LOVE it. We live in Cheney WA and I work in Airway Heights and we love to have date night at the Rusty Moose. The atmosphere is perfect....for a glass of wine and an appetizer or a more leisurely dinner. I love the Rusty Moose White wine and my husband loves their Rusty Moose Red. Jesse may talk you into a Raspberry Flirtini or convince you to just try something new! The staff is OUTSTANDING. Attentive to every single need without being overbearing. We have tried a good portion of the menu. I was delighted to see a new menu a couple of weeks ago while enjoying a bowl of their AWESOME chicken tortilla soup, topped with tortilla strips and fresh avocado along with a glass of wine. Now, with the new menu.....lots of new fun items to look forward to trying. The appetizers are great.....yes, crispy green beans are delicious!!! My family and I love this place. My wife and I enjoy getting drinks in the new lounge and our kids love the restaurant decor and kids menu. I've only had a couple things off of their new menu but what I've gotten thus far has been really good (i.e. the buns on their burgers aren't just fluffy white cheap ones). The staff has never been anything but exceptional and friendly. Food is always served on time and waiter or waitress has been on top of our table to make sure we have what we need. On a side note their bathroom has always been super clean and smells good too. I hate going to a restaurant with a nasty bathroom :-) I highly recommend the Rusty Moose! read more

The food was amazing. However if you ever want to feel like you are a huge inconvenience and not welcome this is the resturant to go to. Last year after our bodybuilding show we stopped in on a whim and were treated horribly. This year we thought we would be proactive make a reservation, we got notifications and phone calls that day 4 different times making it clear we were coming, and that if we were coming we had to pay all one check or they could not take care of us. Our guests of our party had to sit on the complete opposite side of the resturant. They wanted us out. We will not be going back. read more

Well... The food is just about as good as most chain restaurants or worse, however, you're paying 50% more here. I've eaten here a few times with groups of people, and no one has ever had more then mediocre feelings towards this place. We've gotten everything from the burgers, to seafood, to pasta and steak and nothing has stood out for the price. (Jack of all trades, master of none) Heck, if you're close and feeling like wasting a few extra bucks, instead of driving to the next closest chain restaurant, give it a try and see why the reviews are what they are. read more

Enjoyed my pizza and salad for lunch! I like the atmosphere which is loud yet somehow you you're able to carry on conversation just fine. I like busy atmospheres, and this was exactly that. Lots of wood beams, western, cowboy, lodge style decor, large fireplace, TVs at the bar, etc. The food is good. They serve a variety of dishes. I'd go back again! read more
