The restaurant is cozy and though some of the tables are a little close to one another... they've done a great job working with the space they have. The exterior seating area is covered and has heaters. Most importantly, the food is AMAZING. The staff is friendly and the coffee is good. Solid portion sizes and the chefs do a great job cooking whatever you want exactly how you want it. ALL of the service staff are very professional in appearance and friendly. I will say, it isn't cheap but you're paying for corresponding quality (and the quality is solid). Unfortunately, our experience took a disappointing turn when my daughter accidentally told the hostess we were a party of eight instead of ten. When we were called to be seated, the woman very rudely pointed out that we were actually a party of ten and told us we would be moved to the bottom of the list and have to wait all over again. I've worked at a resort in Wailea for over 30 years and understand the challenges that come with accommodating larger parties. However, the way we were spoken to was, in my experience, one of the rudest and most unprofessional interactions I've ever encountered. The outdoor seating is well heated and feels connected to the atmosphere of the town. The service was friendly and efficient. Now, the bad. The food is overpriced. The bellinis barely had any detectable alcohol in them. And the kicker was that the waitress offered us pastries upon greeting us without telling us they cost $7, and the menu did not say there was any charge for bread. This is literally illegal in Washington state, and if there are any consumer lawyers reading this, there are 100% certainly grounds for a class action lawsuit here. Given the currently balmy weather, I opted for indoor. My wait time was around 30 minutes and I was able to secure a comfy indoor window seat. Their menu is extensive and features breakfast and lunch items. They also have mimosas and cocktails. They also offer house made pastries. I opted for the Chorizo omelet with potatoes and a side of pancakes. The omelet was decent portion and delicious. The potatoes had a lovely pan char and was also well-seasoned. It had been about a year since I'd been to Rusty Pelican Cafe, but I'm always happy to suggest it as a great brunch spot in Woodinville. One thing that was new to me this time was getting bread and butter at the start of the meal. This was such a pleasant surprise! The bread was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, and the whipped butter was a great touch. For my main, I got the Farmer Skillet with added spinach and over-easy eggs. It was super filling and delicious--the potatoes were cooked perfectly and even had some crispy bits. I also ordered a side of pancakes, but they weren't really my favorite. I'm a big fan of thick, fluffy pancakes, and these were a little tough and hard to get through. My friend went with a lighter option, the Avocado Toast with a side of fruit. She wasn't too thrilled with it because it came on regular whole-wheat sandwich bread. She felt like it was something she could have easily made at home, so it didn't really feel worth the restaurant price. Came here for a Galentine's brunch with two of my friends around 11 AM and we had to wait outside for around 20 minutes until our buzzer went off to be seated. Like any brunch place, it was cozy and filled with chatter. We were seated at a booth indoors. My friends ordered potato pancakes, an apple cider latte, southwest hash, and a mocktail. I got a salmon benedict. My salmon benedict was fine, not too amazing the first english muffin was perfectly soft and easy to cut through while the second one was hard to eat. What a lovely little brunch spot. I finally got to come here after being recommended it for a long time. Came here on a Sunday at around 9:30 and there was no wait for a table for two. It looked like it had a lot of openings in general, but the waitress said it seemed extra slow that day. My friend and I got the California Benedict and the salmon Benedict and I was able to substitute the biscuit inside of the English muffin for no extra charge. everything was delicious and fresh tasting. The salmon was great and the biscuit was so yummy even though it a lot of carbs - I got to get some extra jam on the side to finish that off. I also thought it was cute that they had a pastry plate that they were taking around. So you can get a little sweet pastry as soon as you sit down. I had never seen that before! Their menu caters to almost everyone and when you find your favorite you have a really hard time letting go of it long enough to try anything else out. I usually go for sweet for my breakfast but here I cannot move away from the Country Fried Steak, salty naughtiness with a hefty side of eggs and potatoes. Oh and! They have this really awesome hot sauce that I had to buy it was so so so good, it just complimented their breakfast perfectly. Now, remember when I said I go for sweet, well I might have gotten the walnut cinnamon sour cream cake to go with my coffee, sometimes you simply can't help yourself. Made us a bit nervous about the wait but we ended up getting seated inside after only 15 minutes. We had a really hard deciding on what to order because sooo many things sounded great. I ended up getting a salad that said it was gluten free, then they put a bunch of slices of pita all around it. I was fine removing the pita, but someone with celiac would have been screwed.
