Classic steakhouse with lots of other stuff on the menu. You get lots of food, so the smaller 7 oz filet was enough for me even though I'm a pretty good eater. Loads of atmosphere, and so much to choose from. Packed when we went (and apparently all the time), so you might want to make a reservation or be prepared to wait. read more

This review should have came a long time ago. I came on memorial weekend. On Saturday night around 8:30 pm. It was a little crowded but my server made it all happen in a very timely manner and was very apologetic even when she didn't need to be. They give you fresh bread and cold packaged butter that is hard to smear. Nothing special there. I ordered the combo with the filet and ribs. With potato logs and you get a salad on the side. The entree also had carrots as well. That salad was huge and I loved that it had cucumbers. It was sooo tasty and that's because their ranch? Is the best thing on earth. Seriously. I'm a huge ranch fan, I eat it with almost everything. That includes my steak lol. I couldn't get over it and I finished my whole salad. Something I don't do. My steak, I asked for medium and it was cooked perfectly. It was very flavorful and not salty or bland like most steaks I get. I usually have to add salt on top in addition to dipping in my ranch but not here. Seriously that ranch is something else. The ribs? Nice and tender, fall off the bone. Their bbq sauce tasted hearty and good and I'm not usually a fan. The potato logs? Like perfectly fried. Had the perfect crunch outside. I'm not too big on carrots. I also ordered a cutthroat and I expected a smaller glass, it was too much with my gigantic meal but I loved it. read more

Great service. Food was delicious. I have eaten here several times passing through town. It's a nice rustic place to enjoy a good meal.

The food was disappointing. My husband's steak was underwhelming. Very average. My ribs were super dry. The waiter was a bit obnoxious.

My wife and I were in town to visit family and wanted to try a good steak restaurant. This places was recommended by two different websites as well as Yelp. I had the ribeye and my wife had the salmon. The ribeye was perfectly cooked and was juicy and tender. My only complaint is that my steak was a bit bland and could have benefited from a bit more of whatever they use for seasoning their steaks. This is the only reason for the 4 out of 5 stars. My potato boats were delicious and fit with my meal perfectly. My wife's salmon was flaky and tender. Cooked exactly to her liking. She had no complaints and enjoyed her whole meal. Came here over Memorial Day weekend, was one of the few places still open when getting to cedar city later in the night. The place was busy when we got there but we got seated in about 5 minutes and the seating was adjusted for the 6ft social distancing despite all the people. I ordered the steak and shrimp scampi, overall the food was pretty decent. The bread felt a little stale and not too fresh but the side salad that came with my meal was delicious, probably because their ranch honestly, ranch was definitely one of the highlights. After driving and camping for a few days, I just wanted meat. My GPS used TripAdvisor to suggest Rusty's. I couldn't be more grateful! It is the steakhouse you need when you need a steakhouse. My steak and scampi were great. The filet was perfectly cooked and their compound butter put it over the top. The potato skins upgrade was probably excessive after bread and salad, but absolutely worth it. There's a full on LAYER of bacon. Great service that made me feel at home, even though home is states away. Will come again when I'm passing through! read more

I thought it was okay. The ribeye I ordered medium was medium rare with little seasoning. I had to put a lot of salt on it to bring out some flavor. The baked potato was cooked well before being served which created a leathery outer crust on the toppings. Had to ask for butter for it. The best part of the meal was the green beans which had bacon and other ingredients giving them great flavor and texture. Again, overall the meal was okay. The place itself had great ambiance. An outside seating option on a deck with a view of the amazing rock would have been nice. Perhaps It was an off night for the kitchen. The barbecue platter wasn't that good. The brisket Wasn't as tender as it was advertised. I was. The barbecue ribs were overdone, dry. The chicken was supposed to be a lake and a thigh, they gave me a thin chicken breast. It was dry not very tender it's a very tender. The cook's mustafa putting more barbecue sauce on the items would make it better perit did better. It didn't happen that way. The waitress was less than stellar. Appeared to have a bad attitude while taking our order. Waited several minutes have water refilled. Waited several minutes to get a drink that I ordered. What a great discovery. As we headed down the mountain from Brian Head to celebrate my boyfriends birthday we had heard so many great things about Rusty's so had to try it. The food, service, and ambiance were perfect. Everything was top notch from the tumbleweed appetizer, steak and coconut shrimp to the mango key lime pie. Delicious. We were new in town and it was one of the few places still open for dinner. I wish we had seen the latest reviews for the restaurant, which mirrored our own experience. (Seriously, Yelp, your default spring algorithm sucks). The food itself was good. Portions were nice, everything tasted pleasant, and you wouldn't walk out of the place being hungry. The service was pleasant and our server was prompt. This would have been a solid 4 star, if it wasn't for the lack of COVID precautions. The servers were not wearing face masks or gloves, and the tables were not social-distanced. When my dining partner asked why they aren't wearing masks, the server said they didn't need to. I didn't find out until later that Utah still had a mask mandate at least until April 11th, so either the restaurant was mistaken or they don't care. Furthermore, the dead animals on their walls had masks on, which was bizarre. I thought it was a fun "everybody has to mask up" thing they were doing, but why were the animals masked but people working there were not? Now it seemed like a cruel joke against people who are still masking and taking precautions. We still ended up eating there out of hunger and desperation. Like I mentioned, for the most part everything was pleasant. But for days afterwards I was unsettled and wondered what I had exposed myself to. If you are now vaccinated or not worried about COVID, then this place is fine for you. If you are still taking COVID precautions and have not been vaccinated yet, then this would not be a place you would be comfortable with. read more

Rusty's customer service, was rusty. Don't get me wrong, the food was great! When walking into rusty's I was not sure what to expect. The ambiance gave a different vibe. Getting off to a bad start, the bathroom door didn't lock so I caught a full shot of an old man using the restroom. *Please fix this issue* Although I was off to a very average start with Rusty's it would soon start to catch itself. The dining room was not very Covid-19 friendly (for those who worry about this issue). Myself and my party felt extremely awkward as we were seated in the middle of the dining room with everyone look straight down upon us. The feeling of the room was like I said earlier, different. With the mixture of taxidermy, strange light fixtures, weird older western paintings, and a large fire place, the feeling was exactly as it was cut out for. Different. The table cloth for our table was definitely not my favorite, as it seemed like one from your grandmothers house that hasn't been cleaned since bought. The chairs were not as comfortable as you would like to see, but that was not the biggest problem. Our waitress Danel was sweet, but we did not see much of her. Although I understand she may have been busy due to keeping track of her multiple tables, but is that our problem? I ordered the 8" steak medium well. The consistency and cook of the steak was nearly perfect. The outside being a little bit burnt, I am not one who minds this problem, enjoyed it. The view out of the windows was very pretty. You got a great view of the beautiful Utah red rock, along with some green that you are not gonna see much of anywhere else. Out in the middle of nowhere surprise! What matters most to me about a restaurant is the food and this place served some very delicious and simple dishes. You can find this place nestled into a mountain on the way from Cedar City to Cedar Breaks National Monument which happens to have one of my favorite hikes ever. There's no cell reception and you'll need to sign into their wifi upon arrival. It truly feels like you're in the country with all the rustic touches and the one thing that made me uneasy was all the heads of animals all over the walls. I know everyone in the area hunts and I eat meat, I get it but I still get uneasy when a deer or bull are staring at me eating. The food was really great. Our calamari steak was very tender. The house salads with raspberry vinaigrette were fresh & flavorful and then the honey BBQ ribs! Wow! Tender, sweet & smokey! And then the perfect baked potato with all the toppings and one of my favorite items were the honey glazed carrots that were cooked to perfection. I was really impressed. Service was awesome! Very attentive and we had a great time in the middle of nowhere. For all who are considering stopping here, they specialize in seafood, steaks & ribs. Worth the visit! read more

On a road trip stopped in Cedar City for a night and Rusty's Ranch House seemed like a good choice. Lots of points for location, in a scenic valley a little out of town. Ambiance depends on how you feel about trophy heads all over the wood paneled walls. Service was very polite but very slow. Reasonable prices. I'd skip their Caesar salad as the dressing was closer to a very vinegar infused Italian. The house salad is a good choice. All entrees include potato choices and salad. The steaks were average but the ribs were very good. The wings were over cooked. All in all I think it topped the other chain options we had but would not be in a hurry to return. read more

While we waited to place our order we watched our waitress check and double check with other tables who already had their food. Our waitress for this as soon as she is done serving another table she will take our order. Instead she wandered over to two other tables who already had their food before taking our order. Finally after placing our order our food came. My husband's brisket was good. My flat iron steak was tasteless. Both my husbands sweet potato and my baked potato were hard and undercooked. Mediocre best describes the food we were served. The filet mignon appeared to be a ribeye steak - thin and fatty. Bread was a tasteless imitation of sourdough. Dressing was excessive on the salad. The inlaws wanted to take my family out for dinner when they were in town visiting from out of state. They wanted a steakhouse, so we took them to Rusty's (against our better judgment). Each time we have been here (4 times in 2 years - including this time I am reviewing about) has been a TERRIBLE experience, excluding our first time. We had a party of 11, so this was an expensive disappointment. We phoned in a reservation but it was never written down. During this visit, much like all the rest, the food was cold, the steaks were barely cooked, the baked potato was pathetic, only being served with a small blob of sour cream. The 'vegetables' served with the entree were minuscule at best. About the steaks - We asked for medium-rare and got blue rare. My MIL asked for her steak to be cooked medium-well and she got a slight notch above raw but not quite medium-rare. And all steaks were utterly flavorless. I think putting steak sauce or ketchup on a steak is a sin but that was really the only way to get these steaks to be palatable. The salad that came with the entree was SWIMMING in dressing and unedible. The burgers were mostly bun... where's the beef? and toppings? and flavor? Ribs were dry. The sides served with the entrees were very skimpy. For as much as this place costs, I better be full when I leave and be taking some leftovers home! The place wasn't busy but our server never seemed to be around. We had to ask her multiple times for things like A PLACE SETTING! (when we could catch her) - plate, fork, knife, cup, napkin... all of which should have already been set. Whenever she did happen to breeze past she would quickly ask how everything was but never stick around long enough for us to answer her. And finally, LIPSTICK on nearly ALL the glassware at our table. And the glassware was cloudy and did not look clean. Ew! Terrible service, terrible organization, terrible food, terribly managed. Terribly expensive for such an awful dining experience. If you're local, do yourself a favor, go buy your own steaks from Dry Lakes Ranch Beef in Parowan and cook your own. If you are passing through, do yourself a favor and keep on driving past this place. You don't need this kind of negativity in your life. (FYI - and if you think Milt's Stage Stop is going to be any better, it's owned by the same guy and has a more expensive menu.) read more

We stopped in w a party of 9 without reservations and we're sat almost immediately. Place was fullll! Ambiance like a movie! And it was snowing We wanted a good steak after snowboarding all day. We were caught completely off guard and got the BEST STEAK IN UTAH (and Cali ) wanting to go back again tonight. Had the steak and ribs, which came with a side of boiled carrots and a loaded baked potato. The steak was good, but not as good as the one I had earlier in Bryce Canyon. But their ribs were delicious. Tender meat falling off the bone, crispy on the outside from being grilled, and coated in a delicious BBQ sauce. Mmmm. The sides however were a bit bland. This place was actually a bit tricky to find. The GPS took us up a mountain for a few miles, and then this restaurant seemed as if it just came out of nowhere partially up the mountain. Our first visit. We loved this place. We actually were headed to Milts and thought we were there. Decided to stay and try Rusty's. Seated right away. And the sever (Jesse) was very friendly and attentive. We ordered drinks and were brought a bread basket of warm sourdough bread and butter. We ordered the salmon Alfredo. And we usually split entrees so asked to have it split. This meal cane with salad and we each received a good sized salad with lettuce and other yummy veggies. Had the thousand island dressing which was good. We did have to ask for more dressing for the salad but it was brought right away. Then they brought the salmon Alfredo. It was split for us as requested. The serving size was still quite large. It was delicious but we did require more Alfredo sauce which they made up some more and brought it out. The meal came with garlic toast which was also good. We were too full to order dessert but would like to come back to order dessert as they sounded delish. The place was decorated quaint like a log cabin and we don't care for country music but understand why they would play it. We will definitely come to Rusty's again. read more

Our waitress was amazing. She made sure we had everything we needed. The ranch dressing was amazing enough that my kid who refuses to eat salads ate a good part of his, which is a little disappointing because our waitress had the dressing put on the side so I could take it home. The steaks were delicious and were flavorful without any sauces needed. My salmon was good, especially with the side sauce they had to go with it. The homemade chocolate mousse was so good.
