We were visiting the area and based on other customer reviews, we decided to try Rusty's. We were very happy with our choice. The staff was friendly and we were greeted (and seated) immediately...we visited at 6pm on a Thursday in June. Our waitress, Adrianne C., was amazing! She was very friendly and attentive. Great service and the food was delicious (cheese curds w/marinara, Fettucine Alfredo w/Salmon and Garlic Bread). Disappointing. Can't recommend. I am surprised at the 4 star reviews I've seen on here. Sometimes I think, people are just too kind or not experienced. Three groups of us came in at 5. We are the only tables. Server brings the wrong beer, I send it back. The silverware is that thin cheap stuff- easily bent. The tablecloths are that plastic/rubber cheap stuff. The glassware is small. Like diner glasses. The beer finally came out in a larger water glass. My wife and I are thinking cheap. The food quality will be similar. It was. Salad was drenched in salad dressing- almost to the point of being inedible. The bread, sourdough, was the only high point and arrived warm. The butter was near frozen and we could not spread it. I had a ribeye which was pale and looked fried. Thin. Plenty of gristle. There was absolutely no seasoning or rub on either steak. Potatoes were puny, like no 2's from a ten pound bag. Wife's filet was woefully underdone. Not medium, not medium rare, but rare and close to raw. We can't complain about the cooking of it because the server never, ever comes back. So we can't even send my wife's filet back. When the server finally shows up- my wife is not interested in sending it back because I am already done. (We took it home and grilled it for an additional 7-8 minutes and it still wasn't medium, it was served near raw. ) We were amazed that locals came here. Texas Roadhouse beats this place in every facet- quality, price, servers, real silverware, real beer glasses. Servers actually come back and check on you frequently. If you own a steakhouse and purport to be a steakhouse- then present a quality product. If I owned this restaurant I'd be ashamed to put this stuff out there and charge people 100 bucks for dinner. I felt like a theft victim. Not going back. P.S. There are several reviews on here where the salad is bathed in salad dressing, steaks are undercooked, with no flavor. I am sorry I didn't read those reviews first and management clearly doesn't care. They are not replying and nothing has changed. read more

This place was very full and busy on a Friday night but the service was still fairly quick and attentive. I had the ribeye and my husband had the filet mignon. Our daughter had the kid filet. All were cooked perfectly and tasty. The butter on top of the steak added a great taste. Would have liked more veggies not just carrots. The sweet potato was also good. The brownie dessert looked so yummy we ate it before I remembered to take a picture of it. I think it had a little too much whip cream, but still good. read more

A throwback experience. Eating at Rusty's feels like stepping backwards into another decade. Maybe the 1960s or 1970s. Meat and potatoes with salads heavy with cold iceberg lettuce. I just had the best meal I have had in months! The portions are large and the prices are very affordable. Everything was delicious, I tried bites of multiple entrees at my table and nothing disappointed. My favorites were the coconut shrimp and the apple caramel a la mode. I'm sorry to report that our experience tonight was such a disappointment. We had a party of 7 ladies, we all ordered a full meal. Several of us ordered the petite steaks, medium rare, w/salad and a sweet potato. The steaks were absolutely bland! No flavor, we had to salt every single steak ordered as well as the salmon plate. Zero seasoning yet full price!! I was hoping that it was going to be a family owned restaurant experience with flavor and service. Sadly, no. Don't waste your money or time. We ate here two nights in a row. The first night I ordered a brisket burger cooked medium and it was absolutely delicious. The fries were a tasty mixture of regular fries and sweet potato fries sprinkled with garlic and parmesan. The second night, after a long day of hiking, I ordered the petit filet cooked medium and coconut shrimp. The steak lacked salt but we had salt and pepper shakers at our table so that was an easy fix. The coconut shrimp were big and scrumptious. The hubby and I shared an apple cobbler with ice cream and it was a great way to end our meal. Each night we received fantastic service. The staff was very friendly. Group of 6 adults and 5 kids, and we were all happy with our food! We had burgers, coconut shrimp and appetizers... all good! I really enjoyed my burger! The kids menu was great too! BUT the winner is the salads and those FRIES!! Seriously add the $2 salad and get the fries- a blend of regular and sweet potatoes with Parmesan and garlic! Sooooo goood! We had a gift certificate from a client to go here and we made reservations for a Saturday night. I don't believe reservations are required but I can see where they would get busy enough. We were in and out by 6:30. (From 5). This is a casual rustic place. It's open and has a nice atmosphere with western decor. All of the staff was super nice and seemed to work together well as a team. Our experience overall was good. Our server, Craig, was GREAT! One of us had coconut shrimp which was light and fluffy not greasy and a filet (wonderful piece of meat). The steak was ordered medium and it was perfect. The other of us ordered linguine with rose sauce and Tri tip. This was not so raving BUT... it is a Steakhouse. The meat was tender and pasta perfect, the sauce was just blasé. No taste to it really. The garlic toast was good. On to the sides.....potato boats were not some frozen things I don't think. They had some chunks of good sold pieces of no fat bacon meat and it wasn't just plain sour cream to dip in. The carrots were good, the sweet potato was good, the salad was pretty much just lettuce I could do at home. The ice tea was good ice tea and the raspberry cheesecake and brownie sundae were rich and good! Side note, when we sat down I had a dirty spoon and dirty bread plate. They quickly replaced it. If you want to spend $45 for a ribeye and $40 for a fillet that are tough, not tender and full of gristle then this is your place. This was our first visit here and it was a total disappointment. It was meat that was below par for the price and after complaining to the manager the only thing she said to me was well it's a ribeye. It's supposed to have gristle no comment about the fillet other than you should've told the waitress you weren't happy. That was her first mistake. She didn't care if we were happy. She didn't care if our meal was good. Our plates were returned with our steaks not eaten. She had the proof, it's different if you eat your food and then complain, that's not what happened here. She didn't care, she wanted her money no matter how unhappy we were. Save your money and go to a good steakhouse that has a manager that respects her customers and wants her customers to return because they were treated with respect and given good service and cares if three customers out of four had bad experiences with their steaks. Where to start? I guess the food. This is your typical "large serving for a small price" type of place. That is sure some people's style, but not for me. To me, huge portions for pennies typically means less quality food, and this is no exception to the rule. We ordered two steaks (filet and ribeye), the fish special, and a combo platter. One steak was cooked pretty accurately, but the medium steak was nearly raw. The food comes with a bunch of sides which are exactly what you'd expect this kinda place. Everything is just too much. Our salads were drowning in dressing and our server asked if we wanted more dressing. She said most people do. Yikes. The potatoes were dry, and the potato boats had been sitting a bit before they came out, so the cheese was hardening back up. The atmosphere is...not for me. The only mask in the restaurants were on the 50 stuffed deer on the walls. Our server had a mask on (!!!) which was the only reason we stayed. She was AMAZING which is the only thing saving this place from a one star review. The server helper gal was new and super confused about what to do/bring out. The hall is huge. To accurately describe it, think of a church hall where a luncheon is served. Those tables, those chairs, the fake flowers...that's it. If you're into the cheapest value (maybe if you have 6 kids), this is your place! Otherwise, hard pass. read more

The man I chatted with on the phone was quite nice -- he even called back when he realized he forgot to ask about the type of vinaigrette for the salad. The good: HUGE portions at a great price. The food is good and the waitresses are attentive and courteous. The house salad is huge and is very popular for $4.50. The Tumbleweed is the same as a Bloomin Onion and is huge as well at a great price of 8 bucks. I got the sampler platter which included three ribs, three wings and two large potato half/cheese melt/bacon crisps with kale. I didn't quite finish it all and only got through about a quarter of the Tumbleweed fried onion. The thing was about a foot wide. Good western/hunting atmosphere and worth returning to for a meat and potatoes dinner. They will overfeed you intentionally and have a tasty barbecue sauce. I would give this place a solid four to five stars except...... The bad: This place has NO Covid restrictions. NONE! Masks are not worn by anybody including the greeter or the waitresses or the kitchen staff. Gloves are not worn and the tables are not sanitized but instead wiped down by a young teenager with a dirty wet rag. There was absolutely no social distancing and every table was full. Went to Rusty's on a recommendation from the locals while visiting Cedar City. So glad we did! The restaurant is just a mile or so out of town, in the scenic mountains. Service was quick and friendly. None of the staff appeared to be wearing masks, in case that is a concern. My husband ordered the Flat Iron steak and I ordered the Coconut Shrimp with the sweet potato. Both dinners were excellent! The steak was cooked perfectly and was tender and juicy and covered with grilled onions. The shrimp had 5 large pieces and was delicious. The sweet potato was like dessert, yummy and sweet. Classic steakhouse with lots of other stuff on the menu. You get lots of food, so the smaller 7 oz filet was enough for me even though I'm a pretty good eater. Loads of atmosphere, and so much to choose from. Packed when we went (and apparently all the time), so you might want to make a reservation or be prepared to wait. read more
