I was not too impressed by this place may be because the stuff we ordered was not great?! I would still prefer cafe bubamara over this cafe. I guess the reason primarily is because of the cuisine here does it have much vegetarian options and if they do they are not to my liking. We ordered cafe latte which was average and the waitress who brought that out for us seemed pretty new or was not able to carry things well without spilling it over. Also looked like she had a bad day as she served wrong dish to a table and when informed hot visibly frustrated for having to take it back. For entree we ordered tofu scrambled with potatoes on the side which I was not a big fan of and for some reason the fake meat tasted diff than my usual chorizo.. he ordered veggie omelette which happened to be green safest bet there. We went on a weekend at around 11:30 in the morning and the restaurant had limited indoor seating so we agreed to be seated outside as the weather was ok. The ambiance is nice and the place is quite big and I can see it getting packed normally ore covid times. So in all the food was ok, the service was not so great and the ambiance was good. I'm hoping it was a fluke today because we've eaten here before as well as at the Maywood location. What a disappointment! I'm very picky about my eggs and requested they be cooked very dry, then emphasized it 2 more times. We also asked for dry toast with real butter on the side. First, our dishes arrived and we were served the wrong omelette. No big deal we just traded Plates. They didn't bring the butter so we had to wait. The "toast" was not very toasted and the hash browns were not cooked. As soon as I cut into my omelette I gagged as the inside was runny. The waitress took it away but my friend still had no butter and couldn't eat the uncooked potatoes. By the time the butter arrived the "toast" was cold. Then my recooked eggs arrived and were just as runny and the lightly toasted bread was cold. Then we sat there until I was able to flag someone down from across the room to explain the problem. They wanted to try again but at that point we were disgusted and wanted to leave. They didn't charge us for anything and we felt bad as well as embarrassed but honestly it's a breakfast restaurant and should know the terms "dry" and "well done". read more

I came here for brunch on a Saturday with my parents. My dad wanted to come here rather than the other diners closer to our house because this place has 4 stars, but I guess my expectations were a little too high. We were seated quickly, although the place was pretty busy. I ordered chocolate chip pancakes with a side of Taylor ham. My mom got a Belgian waffle and my dad got a Western omelette with homefries and whole grain toast. My parents also got coffee. My dad asked the server if the coffee was fresh, and she said yes. However, when he tasted it, he could tell it wasn't fresh; it had turned a little bitter. Later, another server came around with a fresh pot and refilled their cups and my dad could taste a noticeable difference. The pancakes I ordered were fluffy and well cooked. The chocolate chips were super sweet, but I was craving sweet anyway so it worked out. I wouldn't recommend it if you don't like super sweet chocolate though. The Taylor ham was $2.99 for 3 really thin/small slices; I probably won't get that again if I ever come back. It tasted good but I don't think it's worth the price. Maybe $1.50 would be more reasonable, or charge $3 but give more/bigger slices. The toast that came with my dad's omelette was burnt at the edges and he had to pick off the burnt parts. I feel like someone should've noticed they were burnt and just toasted new slices of bread instead of serving us that. Another con of this place is that parking might be hard to find if it's peak hours. You might get lucky and find an empty spot on the street a block or two away. I like this place . It offers vegan specials and vegan pancakes as well as vegan challah French toast , which are actually hard to come by. It's fairly simple diner food but still worth coming back for when you are craving comfort food. We got vegan pancakes with chocolate chips, vegan challah French toast and the disco vegan fries which were the highlight of this adventure ! We had two coffees with almond milk (no oat milk available) and the server than asked " are you guys vegan ?" And she went off on specials and what she could do for us ! This was a little plain, chorizo was sliced extra thin like the pepperoni in the package at the supermarket and very sparing on all ingredients, especially the avocado. It's always busy but the turn over is pretty fast so they definitely keep it moving. Employees are all nice. Cons: + I feel like their Specials always Sound better than they actually taste or are. For example, today special was a "Hazelnut Waffle." Now you're probably imagining a waffle with hazelnut in the batter or flavored somehow.... but when I asked about it, the waiter said "it's a regular waffle and then we put some hazelnut syrup on it." Uhm....I would NOT classify that as a "hazelnut waffle." Another time, I came here to get "red velvet pancakes"....another disappointment. WOW this place is great! My wife and I came here after we failed getting breakfast somewhere else. First off, crazy huge line! Half hour + waits are the norm... Inside, it is pretty nice! Very modern rustic homey décor. Staff is very friendly. But the place is packed to the brim. This is the first time that we have ever been here, so we have not tried too many things! I got the pulled pork eggs benny, and my wife got the classic. We also got a side of pancakes and sausages to share. My pulled pork bennys were crazy good! I was expecting general mediocre pulled pork, but id have to say, its on par with most decent BBQ places. They were juicy and delicious, and really worked nicely with the hollandaise sauce. My wife really enjoyed her classic bennys. Most places use Canadian bacon, but they used 2 large piece of ham across both pieces. I tried a bite and I was amazed. Both of our eggs were cooked perfectly, absolutely no issue! It came with a side of potatoes, and for some reason the serve asked if it was ok to add peppers an onions... Not sure why that would be a question, but oh well. The sausages were standard, but cooked very nicely. The Pancakes, OMG the pancakes! It seemed like it had a nice heavy hand of powdered sugar in it. It had a very nice light and fluffy texture and sweet flavor to it. I enjoyed them with butter, my wife without. You could eat them plain no problem. I had the coffee, which was pretty solid. They were a little slow with refills, no biggie. I know that they were very busy, maybe a little understaffed? We have been to the Maywood Pancake house which is a sister restaurant of this spot, but not as good as Rutherford. My omelet was perfect...not greasy at all which I LOVED. We were debating to where to meet for brunch with two of my other friends who are vegetarian and they recommended Rutherford Pancake House for it's large variety of vegetarian options, and it didn't disappoint! Tip: Rutherford Pancake House requires that every one in the party be present to be seated, so make sure your entire party is present so you don't have to wait. We visited on a Saturday morning around 10:30 AM and the parking situation was tough, it took us all a bit of time to find parking, but luckily after one loop I was able to find something close by. One of our friends was a bit earlier than the rest of us and informed us that there was a fifteen minute wait and guests can't be seated unless the entire party is present, which worked out for me and our other friend in that we were seated as soon as we arrived thanks to our friend who came early. The atmosphere was more modern and cozy than most classic diners in the state, but aside from that it get like almost any other diner. Our server was great, he was prompt in serving us when we initially arrived and throughout the course of our meal. The orders were accurate and came out fairly quickly. I ordered the Chocolate Milkshake ($5.49) to start off and the Vegan Popeye Tofu Scramble (Fresh Spinach, Garlic, Vegan Italian Sausage, Mushroom, Avocado and non-vegan Feta Cheese, with Home Fries and Multi-grain Toast) ($12.99) as my main entree. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal, albeit is was a bit cool/ not warm or hot when it arrived. Everything blended in so well to form a tasty meal, with fresh items like the avocados and feta cheese. My favorite was the vegan Italian sausage, which was very realistic and really well seasoned. I ordered Chipotle Mayo on the side which was an added bonus and further added to the dish.
