And as a woman of color with curly hair I was prone to ingrowns but not with them. I have also not had one complaint about any of their wax specialists. They are all thorough and very professional. They're books get busy so be sure to book in advance. They primarily communicate through text but are very responsive. I highly recommend!!!

A few weeks ago I met this girl Rebecca who recently changed her name to Summer. She was a trainee at the time waxing my d!ck. She introduced herself to me with a handshake which is kinda unusual for an aesthetician. I've worked with over a hundred aestheticians. No one has ever welcomed me with a handshake. The way she introduced herself to me actually made a good impression on me. So I made future appointments with her because I wanted to know her. I started liking her personality, she also seemed to enjoy our conversation. So then came third and fourth appointment. She kept showing interest in what I do and what I was thinking about her, her appearance and her accent. She also asked me personal questions like how I got that scar on my lower stomach, and asked me about the language I speak. She even asked me about some certain words and how we say in Farsi. Then she asked me about what I did on the weekend. So I said we celebrated my brother's graduation and we had a family dinner. She then asked me where we went for dinner. I said my mom cooked. she asked me what she cooked. So I said it was one of our local food. She said she liked to try. I said I would take her out to try. The appointment ended and at the end I asked her if she really wanted to try the food. She said she was nervous. So I thought maybe another day. She didn't seem to be uncomfortable about anything I said. She said goodbye with a smile same as she used to do every time. Two days later, I found out the app didn't let me make appointments. I found it weird. I thought it was something with the system or my account that didn't let me book appointments, as it happened before. So I headed to salon to ask her what happened. She said she was going to make a call. I thought she was going to call the manager to see what happened. Wasn't expecting what happened next; someone was shouting like a crazy dog that I had to leave and that she complained I made her feel uncomfortable. I still don't know what she was feeling uncomfortable about, because I never said or did anything offensive to make her feel that way. She didn't show any signs of discomfort or anything until the last minute of our appointment. She didn't even ask me to leave or let me know that I did something that made her feel uncomfortable. I was shocked by what she turned out to be. I always thought she was kind, caring and smart. I was wrong. Very wrong. Don't blame sh!t after you step on it. So I don't blame her.

Every detail felt intentional and relaxing. The treatments were even better than expected, and Ashleigh, my masseuse, has angel hands. One of the best massages I've ever had. Light snacks, like cranberries and nuts are provided along with hot tea options, and citrus flavored water. The space is very nice. There are locker rooms with plush spa robes and complementary slippers. The locker room has two steam showers if you want to wash yourself after your massage. They also provide hair products to try as well as a Dyson hair dryer. I was definitely very impressed with the luxurious feel of the spa, however, was turned off by the receptionist who checked me in - her robotic, transactional nature was starkly juxtaposed against the warmth of the spa. I noticed she was the same with all customers so it wasn't personal but interaction with her was unsettling. I booked the 60min signature hydrafacial and the esthetician was welcoming and willingly customized my facial based on my requests. No major issues encountered but I noticed we started 10 minutes late and ended 10 minutes early so I thought marketing it as a 60min experience was a bit misleading. Also note the 60min Signature Hydrafacial does not include any hand/neck massages nor boosters nor light therapy so the $285 price was much more expensive than my usual spa. I will not return for another facial but may try massage in the future. We also booked pedicures and again the space is beautiful!! We were given a palette to select colors and the ladies were extremely friendly! My toes came out adorable! I found the seating to be very uncomfortable for a short person despite many pillows placed behind me for support so I honestly struggled to enjoy the experience but the space was very nicely decorated and clean looking. We were offered tea and snacks at the beginning as well. Overall, this was a very nice spa. I found it fairly expensive and overpriced, but I recognize beautiful spaces have a cost and that's what I should've expected in the River Oaks area. There is complementary validated parking!

When I walked-in, I was greeted kindly and the wait time was nonexistent. The place is basic with white walls, ~4-6 private rooms and 1 restroom (accessible). I was offered a special on a Brazilian (buy one, get one free). Now, the follow-up session went better than I expected. The tech was mindful of the wax's temperature and asked me before starting. I've been burned before at a different shop, so this aspect of the experience made all the difference. The second time I was here I agreed to waxing my underarms for something like $22. She didn't hold my skin tight enough and it hurt more than it needed to. My skin was extra raw and still not smooth, no oil afterwards. I carry a roll on coconut oil so that helped me out. While I'm accustomed to waxing--creams, powder, strips, sugar, etc.--no aftercare counseling provided. They is a poster on the room's wall I was in that covers a few key points, but it is not enough information. The location is convenient. Note: I asked for sugar, but I'm still not 100% sure if it's 100% that. Whatever they used seems like a quality product though. They Note: If you have curly hair, no preventative care. Be careful treating ingrown hairs if you DIY.
