This review is long overdue, however, I had not had many opportunities to ride after having the work completed and wanted to be sure I was satisfied with the work done. No mincing of words here: the work is not cheap, however it is thorough. When I first went to Ruthless Kustomz, I had not been on my motorcycle for almost 5 years so I knew it needed some major work to get it back in shape. I explained how I tend to use my motorcycle (occasionally riding to work, but mostly I ride long distances alone). He can be a bit cocky, but I am okay with that. He has a passion for his work and does a thorough job. He also stands behind his work - which means a lot to me. I have far more confidence in his work than the places I have taken my bike to before him. He was patient with my schedule as well, which I very much appreciated. Like Miguel M, bringing my motorcycle to Anthony was a huge mistake. I have a Kawasaki mean streak that I don't ride much and wanted an HONEST mechanic to check out my bike. I read the reviews for Ruthless Kustomz on Yelp so I decided to give them a try. The original estimate was $2000 for a variety of work including valve adjustment & fuel injection service. When I got the estimate I thought ... wow, that is a lot of money for a tuneup. I checked my service records and found that I didn't need some of the work Anthony recommended. For example, my fuel injectors had recently been replaced. I became cautious of Anthony's opinion because it seemed like he was recommending unnecessary work just to get paid. Anthony convinced me that I needed the valve adjustment done (@ $550), so I said ok and asked him to revise the estimate. Anthony called me the next day to inform me that the valves on my motorcycle are hydraulic & self-adjusting. At this point I lost all respect for Anthony's "professional" opinion. I told him to put my bike back together & I'd come pick it up. I ended up paying $195.86 (he charged me extra for using a credit card) for an oil/filter change & gear oil change. To make matters worse, a few days later at the gas station, I noticed my tank was "wobbly". I looked underneath my gas tank and discovered that a mount bushing was missing. I called Anthony to complain. At first he was not going to take responsibility for the missing bushing, saying that he looked around his shop and could not find it. My response was, if the bushing was not there when you removed the tank, why was that not noted on the service work order. After numerous calls & texts, Anthony agreed to replace the bushing. Anthony told me he would order the bushing but after 2 weeks I had not heard from him. I sent him a text & he wanted me to bring my bike back to his shop. At this point I had zero confidence in Anthony's credibility so I told him never mind. I found Anthony very difficult to deal with, not customer friendly or credible. Those who read this review should pay attention to the tone & harsh words Anthony used in his reply to Miguel M's review. Is it ever "good business" to curse at your customer or challenge him to "address his concerns face to face". I'm just sorry that my bad experience happened before Miguel M posted his review. I would have never taken my motorcycle to Ruthless Kustomz. 5/18/18 Reply to Anthony's comments, it does not matter that I waited 9 months to post my review. The length of time doesn't change the poor service & incompetence of Ruthless Kustomz. Anthony has been harassing me via text since I posted my review, so I had to block his number. This guy does not have the temperament to be a successful businessman. Look how he responds to customer complaints; his use of CAPS, exclamation points and foul language is extremely unprofessional. The "facts" of my experience are; I took my bike to Ruthless Kustomz to get a "professional" assessment of my bike performance. Anthony gave me a $2000 estimate that was a "replace everything" approach. Did he start my bike, listen to it run, ride it, etc. .... Ruthless Kustomz then showed incompetence by recommending valve adjustment when my bike valves are self-adjusting. Lastly, my bike was returned to me in worse condition than when I dropped it off; missing the tank bushing. Anthony agreed to order the bushing but two weeks went by without a call from Anthony. I had to contact him & when I did, he wanted me to bring my bike back to his shop. This would require me to arrange alternate transportation to and from his shop. An inconvenience for me and poor customer service. I was going to end this experience with this review but Anthony's unprofessional reply and harassing texts motivated me to look into his rating with the Better Business Bureau. I called this shop to check and see if he could do suspension tuning on my 2018 R6 because I had bad speed wobbles after hitting a bump in the road and wanted to get my suspension tuned for my weight and maybe see if he can install a steering damper for me. He jumps to conclusion saying that i have a bent axle or rim . I wonder how many 50000 mile Yamaha R6S there are riding around on stock rims. I'm sure it's a TON . The bike has 3000 miles on it , it still looks brand new ! He says i can bring it in for inspection at 250$ an hour rate . Once he diagnoses a fake problem and tries charging me for a rim or bent axle i don't even need? Yeah , right . Guys a robber. I say one sentence and he's diagnosing the problem over the phone before i get there. Any knowledgeable person will know that you can go to any other shop and get better and more honest work for way cheaper . I took my bike to Anthony he had it for over a month and ended up canceling the job because it was taking too long to get the parts in. I bought the parts myself because I got them for 900 dollars cheaper. I ended up having to send almost half of the parts back because I didn't need them, I was just going off of the invoice he sent me. He ended up charging me 500 dollars to pick my bike up (I have yet to get receipt or pictures of the "work" he did). I texted him to ask if the bike was ok to ride..as you can see in the text he said "front end is solid" 50 miles into my ride I got the "death wobbles" and fortunately wasn't injured. I then took my bike to Del Amo in OC to have them check it. The front axel was severely bent and the fender was put on backwards they said I shouldn't have been riding it AT ALL. Around mid-August was when I first found this shop online and decided to stop by. I had slipped and fallen off my 2002 Kawasaki Ninja on a sharp turn due to improper turning/handling, and needed some basic repairs and a brief estimate on whatever had to be replaced. Anthony, the owner, was upfront and honest about his pricing. He flat-out stated that his shop was truly not the cheapest place to do business with, and since at that time I was unemployed and on a serious tight budget... it may be beneficial to shop elsewhere. Still, he was generous enough to take some time out of his day just to quickly look at the motorcycle and consult with me briefly on what needed to be done. 2 months go by, and now that I have a bit of money saved up so I decided to hit up Ruthless Kustomz again to see what they could do for me. Just this week I had my brake pads replaced, motor oil filled, and chain lubed. QUALITY: Anthony is committed and serious about delivering the best of the best. Even if a particular part/accessory is not the right fit, he'll go out of his way to find one that is or make any adjustment necessary. For instance, I lost the spring that belonged on my kickstand lever, and the guy went through at least 3 different bikes in his shops just to find me the right size. Now that is attention to detail. PRICE: Not the most budget-friendly place. If you're looking for a cheap quick fix, you're better off DIY or searching elsewhere. That being said, there is a saying- "Good service is never cheap. And cheap service is never good." ;] You get what you pay for. SERVICE: Anthony is a wholesome, professional dude that'll take care of you. He doesn't Mickey-Mouse or cut corners or nickel & dime you. I can confidently say that this shop certainly exceeded my expectations. Wife found Anthony's shop and let me know about it , one day left work and my chain was screwed skipping away each time I got on it . I stopped in here as it's down the road from house, figured it would be a good way to see also how they work on bike. Anthony in the middle of working on a job took the time to tighten the chain up for me real quick so i could make it home. He could have told me piss off, wait, anything under the Sun but nope he jumped right on it. After I see how committed he is to making people happy and fixing bikes , I'm like alright this guy might be the dude I can trust finally. I stood around for a good 30 mins as he gives me the tour explains all what he can do for my bike and services I needed at that point. I did grow up in shops and know how to do my own work for the most part, but wife two kids n work sometimes I would rather pay to have it done. So when ya see he keeps it nice, clean and organized it shows pride in his space . Few months go by and I buy a new bike 2016 fz09 with under 2k miles, I must have ran over something in the dark on way to work the night before as I find a gash in my tire when getting ready to leave. Once again on the way home I stop in, Anthony remembers me and the Speedo bs I had told him about before. He gets right on phone finds the tire I want and gives me prices for it , I then add some work to the list and ask if can install steering stabilizer for me . I took my 2001 kx250 and my girlfriend's 2004 banshee to Anthony because they had both been sitting for years, he got them both running in prime condition! He is very thorough and detail oriented. Once again, Anthony came through. My TL1000R never ran better in a long time. In fact, my bike even performs better than it ever has. He cleaned the injection system, installed new shock seals, replaced front and rear brake pads, new rotors, valve adjustments, fuel tank flush, replace fuel lines, throttle bodies synchronized and replace spark plugs. He takes the time to explain to you every step and also he send you at the end of the service a very complete report including pictures of what he did on every step with the bike. Prices are in the market range. Frame time to do the service very excellent. Customer service amazing. Also he offers towing service for his customers free of charge. Including the option to pick up the bike at the promises or give you a ride back when you leave your bike at the shop. No ones that I know offer this kind of service. Anthony repaired my bike back in 2017 and i never left him the review i promised. My apologies bruv. I rode my bike to ruthless after putting it down in baldy. I didn't have a ride home so he offered to drop me off. After inspecting the bike and assessing the damage, he sent me photos and the details to what needed to be rectified. Turned out it was going to cost much more than expected but he kept it honest and took the time to give me multiple options to think about without rushing anything. We figured something out and he got to work. He sent me photos through the repair process and even gave me detailed info on who and what company he was getting the parts from. Prior to picking up the bike, he mentioned that he was going do some extra work to the bike at no charge. When i went to go pick it up i noticed all the scuff marks were gone. Man, I don't know where to start; I went out on a huge limb and trusted Anthony with a really BIG job. I bought a 1995 Vulcan 800 and wanted to bobber it out immediately. Did a bit of research online, talked to Anthony on the phone and decided to go with him. He absolutely nailed it! He did a fantastic job and my bike ended up looking AND performing just the way I'd hoped! This dude is down to earth and HONEST, which is hard to find in this business. I'm convinced that he does an amazing job on all his projects, not because of a reputation or pride - I think it would literally kill him a little bit to not do the absolute best he can. Keep in mind, he is a fantastic mechanic and a wizard with carbs, suspensions, etc, but I was asking him to basically tear down a big ol' "Rad Dad Cruiser" and turn it into a lean, mean, loud, bitchin bobber. He changed the gas tank, electrical, lighting, handlebars, re-jetted carbs, seat, etc. Guys that do this for a living would struggle here and they usually focus on one make of bike because they all vary so much when you start tearing it down. I have no doubt that this job was a huge pain in the ass and he ran into snags here and there but he just kept on pushing through until he figured it out and got it right. Now I have a bike that is a blast to rip around on! The only small drawbacks were that the project took a little longer than I expected. I figured it would take 3 months but it ended up taking 41/2, which is understandable with such a huge project. 1.5 months is a small price to pay for getting a bike that I'll love for years to come! Also, I would've liked more update pics throughout the process. I have an IPhone and he has a Droid so he did try to text update pics a few times that I didn't receive but even so, I would've liked a few email updates and pics every week and a half or so, just so I knew everything was going alright. I'm just nitpicking here and these things aren't a big deal. This whole thing was a huge gamble and a lesser mechanic could've done a half ass job and cut corners on my bike and I would've just been screwed. My bike looks and performs like a dream!
