From the fabulous service to the quality wine and outstanding food I had an amazing experience at this Ruth Chris restaurant. I think it was the largest space for this establishment that I've been too. Parking was easy at the parking garage next door with plenty of spaces. Started with jumbo shrimp cocktail and a thick cocktail sauce. Next course was their steak house salad, the main course for me was sizzling hot crab cakes. A generous portion with a lot of visible crab. Asparagus and the lobster Mac & cheese were the side dishes. We ended the evening with coffee and the dessert duo which was a small portion of cream brûlée and a carrot cake muffin topped with cream cheese frosting. Saying I was stuffed was an understatement. My go to selections are always the chop salad-can be split at tableside and French onion soup. A delicious appetizer that's large enough to be an entree is the osso bucco ravioli. TRY it and share. Duwayne and the entire team were engaging, interested in our thoughts on the food and service. Our server Chloe was a delight. Lastly, the men's room, can't believe I'm including this is so clean and comfortable. My wife Laura and I are from Indianapolis. We dined at the Ruth's Chris Fort Wayne last Saturday evening (4/25/2026) on our way to the Megan Woods Concert in North Manchester. We were greeted very cordially by two gentlemen and one lady, whom later we found out that one of the gentlemen was the General Manager Dwayne Hayden. They asked us how we were doing, and I said I could not have it any better because I was with my Beautiful wife Laura. I informed them that we had a reservation for two with an ocean view. Everyone got a chuckle out of the ocean view for we were in the middle of Indiana. We were seated in a romantic booth and greeted graciously by our server Scott. After Scott took our drink order, Dwayne Hayden slipped by and spread rose petals across our table. What an Amazing and Special gesture that made my wife and I feel so Special. Scott had brought us our drinks and had taken our order for dinner, when Dwayne Hayden took service to a whole new level!!! He brought a computer tablet to our table, and it was playing ocean views from around the world. OMG, my wife Laura and I could not believe the Exemplary Service and Care we were given as guests that night. The whole Ruth's Chris dining experience was "Over the Top"!!! They really know how to treat a birthday celebrant here... it was like every single staff member was aware of our special occasion and came over with well-wishes and excellent, attentive service. Temp on both our steaks was perfection. The shrimp hide a filet that actually hide two end pieces that were pieced together to represent a filet steak. I ordered it medium rare. The two scraps of meat were medium well. Just returned to Ruth Chris a few evenings ago. Atmosphere, food, and service were as expected for this fine dining establishment. Welcomed upon arrival (but will note for those of you who may not know, 80% of your group, should you be meeting friends, needs to be present before they will usher you to your reserved table), decor is upscale, and our server, Jordan, was outstanding! Food is pricey and most of the menu is ala carte, They do offer a set priced option for $59-$69 per person where the entree and smaller sized accompaniments are pre-set. Otherwise, salads and sides are each individually priced. Steaks are fabulous, however nearly any good quality steak will taste delicious slathered in melted herb butter, as theirs is. If you enjoy it, the classic creamed spinach is offered as a side choice, and it's really good! They also offer a complimentary and beautifully presented dessert for any person celebrating a birthday at the table (as one of our friends was doing). Expect great service and well presented, tasty food, but at a much higher price than most area steak and seafood places charge. My partner and I sashayed into Ruth's Chris Steak House in Fort Wayne expecting drama, luxury, and a steak that would change our lives or at least our taste buds. Instead, we got bland beef, lumpy potatoes, and existential dread. Let's start with the steaks, honey. For the price, I expected to be serenaded by angels as my filet melted in my mouth. Instead? It tasted like someone whispered "seasoning" from the next room. Dry. Lifeless. If salt and pepper are too avant-garde, we're in trouble. I've had more flavor at a PTA potluck. And the mashed potatoes? Girl. They were chunky. Not "rustic" chunky. Not "home-style" chunky. Just lazy. Mashed potatoes should be smooth, creamy, and emotionally healing. These were like someone gave up halfway and said "good enough." They weren't mashed they were in an identity crisis. Now, ambiance? It was fine. Not camp, not cozy, just... beige energy. Moral of the story: save yourself the drama and head to LongHorn Steakhouse. You'll get more flavor, better potatoes, and your wallet won't cry itself to sleep. Let me start by saying that Ruth's Chris is one of the more expensive places to eat in Fort Wayne. If this is a barrier for you...then make an alternative selection. If you want outstanding food, incredible service and an excellent dinning experience...then this is worth the money. This restaurant is set in a new building downtown. Fort Wayne is developing more of these types of places to select from. The interior is elegant and comfortable. Most seats have a vantage of the street. The bar is central to the dining room. It is large and inviting. This place is very large so you don't feel like you have to hurry out. Stay and enjoy the experience! Our waiter was outstanding. Jamarkus was very personable and professional. He was helpful with the wine selections. I was impressed that he welcomed us by name. He is prompt with all of his service and very good at pacing the dinner. The manager of the restaurant was also very welcoming and spent time to get to know us and make sure we were served with excellence. The host was right on our anniversary meal and made sure it was personal. She even decorated our table with a string of red beaded hearts to tell the waiter that we were having an anniversary- nice touch! My wife started with a glass of wine. Jamarkus was good about letting us investigate the menus at our pace. He was very helpful with the wine selections. She loved the wine choice. I selected a classic dirty martini. He was right on all the options and brought me extra blue cheese olives...going above and beyond! The drink starters were an excellent start. For dinner we mixed things up on Jamarkus. My wife went with the Ruth's selections and had the steak & shrimp, Caesar salad and broccoli. I picked the New York Strip, the Heirloom Caprese salad and mashed potatoes. The bread starter was a moderately soft sour dough with a creamy butter. No unique flavors on either. Just fresh bread and smooth butter tastes. The Heirloom salad was very fresh and delicious. The fresh tomatoes and cheese was drizzled with a light balsamic dressing. Absolutely delicious. The Caesar salad came with a side of anchovies. My wife told Jamarkus that I love anchovies...he brought be more than a basic side. The anchovies turned out to be the best anchovies I've ever had - sorry Cork & Clever. The salad was large and covered with thin slices of Parmesan cheese and croutons. The croutons were rather plain with a slight crunch. The dressing was very mild with a definite Caesar taste. I think this was the best Caesar salad I have ever had! My wife loved her medium rare fillet. The steaks are slightly flavored with salt and pepper and butter. They are cooked to perfection and come out extraordinarily hot. My New York Strip was also perfectly cooked and served. There is enough melted butter and seasoning sauce to dip your steak pieces. Delicious! My wife's shrimps were large and also nicely cooked. They were firm without being over cooked. The broccoli was definitely fresh tasting and sightly undercooked. It had a crisp crunch. I liked that the broccoli pieces were relatively small. Often times you you a large chunk of broccoli that must be managed. The mashed potatoes were a solid choice. They weren't overly creamy or flavorful. They just has a good consistency and flavor that accented the steak very well. A small complimentary dessert came with our meal. We had a small piece of cheese cake topped with a berries. The cheese cake was good and the berries were fresh. This made a nice simple ending to the meal. Jamarkus boxed up our leftovers at the table in solid containers and a designer red doggie bag. He helped us navigate the POS check out device. Again Jamarkus was outstanding at helping us pace our meal to make our dinning experience worth the money and our anniversary special. Decent food but not for $200 a couple. Steak undercooked. Ordered medium rare. Was rare-rare. Dirty dishes not cleared timely (20 minutes). Broccoli was good. Old fashioned drink with Woodford Reserve done very well. Stuffed mushrooms average but luke warm. Biggest disappointment was the lobster bisque. Cold and a strange sweetness. Not much meat in it either. Dang I was looking forward to that. As for service, sat down at 5:45pm. Received bill at 8:05. Yeah. Over 2 hours. Took 45 minutes alone to get salads and soup. Waitress was very nice but seemed overwhelmed with number of tables. Service was the biggest reason for the low score. During table chat, everyone at one point or another was shifting dirty plates. Table next to us was also stacking dirty plates. Now the social vibe was very cool if a bit loud. If you have lots of money and want others to see you out on the town then it's a great place. Time: 4:15 pm on a Monday Ordered: Filet Oscar W/potato au gratin Steak cooked Med Rare - perfectly executed. However, the Oscar topping an umami flavor reminiscent of cinnamon was off putting. Not an overpowering flavor, yet off putting. A very common steak dish topping with an uncommon elemental taste that was not a "win". Augratin very basic flavors and textures. Butter, potato, bland cheese. Dessert DEVINE Crème brûlée added berry assortment. Just the right amount of crunch topping reminded me of cotton candy wisps of crunchy sugar and lite custard that was delicious. Service : Uncertain why there were so many "excuses" or reasons to be explained. My guest ordered broccoli and received fries. Shrimp had to be "reordered" (missed) The over cooked appetizer of calamari was offensive to any seafood enthusiast. The service excused it as under "new menu" or the Bosses were in a meeting or the server put it in by mistake. Or the manager took off the appetizer so I could have a free dessert (see description of Devine dessert above). In other words leave in good taste. No doubt the team knew how to handle the situation. I had high hopes for Friday lunch at Ruth's Chris. I've been to other locations before, but this was my first visit to the one in Downtown Fort Wayne. I ordered the Cesar salad with filet which was listed on he menu at $10.50 for the salad and $19.50 for the filet. Instead I was charged $44 for the filet and $4.50 for the salad. So, that adds up to be $19.50 more than expected. I also ordered a French 75. It wasn't quite right. There was either too much lemon juice or not enough simple syrup. The red wine by the glass selection needs improvement. Ruth's Chris is known for steaks, so why wouldn't they offer better full-bodied, peppery wines? There were three options that worked for a steak - Justin Cab for $18 for 6 oz (which honestly is more of smooth red and retails for a bottle at about the same price), Caymus Cab for $21 for 6 oz, and a Melbac for $11 for 6 oz. The food, service, and ambiance are all stellar. I opted for the stuffed chicken and mashed potatoes. All items on the menu are ala carte, thus the reason I opted for one side only. The chicken was seasoned to a crisp perfection. It was moist, tender, and full of flavor. The mashed potatoes were creamy and decadent. They had just the faintest hint of garlic. Their table bread and butter is a nice soft touch pre meal or during. My meal was scrumptious to sum it up. Let me start by saying that this is hands down the best steak in Fort Wayne. We've been to all the steakhouses in the Fort, and this is THE TOP. To start, I had the chopped salad and my husband had the wedge. The wedge salad was large, delicious and the bleu cheese was awesome. The chopped salad had the best presentation of a salad I've ever seen. And it was super tasty. For dinner we split the ribeye, small seafood tower and baked potato. All the food was exactly what you'd expect from this kind of restaurant. The food gets a 14 out of 10. Now onto the Service. This is where it fell short. I think our server was new. I asked what the small seafood tower included and his response was "I've never had anyone order one, so I'm not sure." Ugh...It turned out it was very ample for two people, but when I'm spending $90 on one menu item, I expect the server to tell me what I'm getting. I expected oyster forks (the little seafood forks for shell fish) to accompany the seafood shell cracker, but that didn't happen. We made do with our regular forks. Our water was empty a couple of times, which started to really upset me. And we had to ask for bread, instead of it being offered. We ordered our baked potato loaded, but it showed up with just butter. We asked for a side of sour cream, hoping the server would realize the mistake, but that didn't happen. Ironically, the table across from us, with the same server, asked about the difference between the small and large seafood towers. He fumbled through his answer and they ended up ordering the large. Hopefully the server learned something about the seafood towers since he delivered at least two tonight. I probably should have brought our issues to a manager, but I understand the service industry and try to give as much grace as possible. For $30 more at Joseph Decius I would have got a 5 oz just Ok steak/appetizer. The sides were really good. We had the mashed potatoes and the mushrooms. The mashed potatoes were better than any home creation I have had. Mushrooms were very good. Draft beer was more pricey than bottled beer. We came here last night to celebrate our 20th anniversary. We had a reservation and were sat promptly. The restaurant has a great feel. Live jazz. Low lighting. And an impressive bar were just a few of the elegant features that caught our attention. We were told Michael would be our server. After 8 long minutes, a gentleman appeared, greeted us after trying to pronounce our name wrong, and asked if we wanted Fiji water or "Fort Wayne" water. When we stated we wanted tap water, he turned and walked away. Another ten minutes went by. We saw Michael interacting with his other tables, chatting and being friendly. Didn't even look at us. At this point we thought maybe he just didn't like us. He finally paused at our table to let us know Jamie his manager would bring our water. He also plunked down a digital bar menu. And walked away again. After a total of 25 minutes from being sat, Jamie came out with a carafe of water. She was very cordial and explained she couldn't find any clean water carafes. The rest of the dinner was more of the same. Michael would ignore us and then pause briefly to take care of us. The bar drinks were good. Food was good. Hubby had 8 ounce filet and shrimp with creamed spinach, I had crab cakes and chopped salad. Got a piece of cake to go. We did see what looked like a manager walking up and down between tables, but I didn't see him interacting with any of the customers. Overall, the dinner was disappointing. I will start off by saying they do make your birthday special with a dessert and card, but I truly expected better service from a Ruth Chris (see the end of the review) Other than that, the apps were good - voodoo lobster and flaming oysters. Cocktails were also good - a great dirty martini and some specialty cocktails. We decided on sharing a bone in ribeye and 2 sides - the steak was amazing and I would go back and just have a steak! The sides were ok - Brussels sprouts were just OK and the loaded hash browns were yummy and definitely recommend them. The lower rating was definitely due to service - steak came out with one side, a wrong one - mashed potatoes- the waitress took them away and ended up bringing them back because the sides we ordered were not ready, with only a quarter of the steak left, the sides we ordered arrived. We tasted them but ended up packaging them to go. After a few drinks we were feeling good and enjoying our night and didn't expect our sides to be comped, even if they were very late to the table, but what we didn't expect was getting charged for the side they left with us that we didn't order. I didn't realize it until the next day but being overcharged and a mix up with our order we did pay for, I would rank the service as sub par. If you've been to Ruth's Chris, you know that they have the highest level of dining experiences. The food was specially prepared for us and the service was nothing short of outstanding. I highly recommend the Sweet Potato side dish and the Carrot Cake dessert. Make sure to check out their bathrooms as well. The women's restroom is BEAUTIFUL! They have lots of different options for large parties. Entire rooms that can open up to accommodate very large groups and smaller rooms that host a more intimate party like a bachelorette party or business meeting. The food here is delicious and I'm not just biased because I worked at the one in Indianapolis, I am hard to please when it comes to phenomenal food, if it costs me or someone I love money it better be good lol. To start off we had sizzling crab cakes and the sauce was amazing it complimented the crab so well. For my dinner I had the stuffed chicken at the Fort Wayne location and I was just as impressed with it as I was when I had it in Indianapolis. My husband got the Tomahawk Ribeye (medium rare), which he almost always gets when going to Ruth's Chris and it is also really good. I had a loaded baked potato as a side and it was huge (considering everything is a la carte it better be) and my husband had the creamed spinach (not my favorite, but he loved it). The prices are hefty though, so don't come here expecting to be a cheap this is like once in a couple years type of place for special occasions, unless you are splurging and getting it to go. I however do not recommend the filet mignon, not the best cut of steak I've had, it was grizzly and thick with not enough flavor (I had this the very first time we dined at the fort wayne location). I was in town for business and have always wanted to try Ruth's Chris. I walked over from my hotel and was immediately greeted and seated. The staff was incredibly kind and helpful. The waitress was exceptional! After I told her it was my first time dining at the restaurant she took the time to go over the menu. I ordered a bone-in ribeye and it was cooked to my request, a perfect medium rare. I also ordered a side of mushrooms, which were delicious. It was a great meal and definitely lived up to the hype.
