First time at this location (I usually go to the one in Boston) but food tasted exactly the same. We sat on the bar side so our waiter was also our bartender which kind of slowed us down a bit since he was busy behind the bar but would occasionally come over to take our drink orders or see if everything was ok. However, the bar side was more like a regular restaurant rather than the traditional white table cloth steakhouse, which I liked a lot better. Drinks were very mediocre though. There is a parking garage that is free if you're parking less than 2 hours but it is a couple minute walk. There's street parking outside of the restaurant as well but it's always full. read more

My husband and I went to Ruth's Chris Sunday May 15th for our wedding anniversary. I am a big fan of Ruth's Chris so we were given $150.00 in gift cards over the Xmas holiday. I opted for the special tenderloin & shrimp that I had ordered previously. I got the lobster as the appetizer and creamed spinach as my side. My husband got the 11 oz. filet and a caesar salad. My lobster bisque was not the same as I had ordered on my previous visits. It was thin and dark. My tenderloin was very tender, though mushy. It seemed to me it had been put thru a needler. The creamed spinach was as delicious as usual. My husbands tenderloin had a little bit of grizzle on the side. Unusual for a tenderloin filet. The Caesar salad was fine. I got my dessert to go which was bread pudding. I have done this in the past as I am usually too full to eat it at the restaurant. It was mch smaller than usual. I understand the price increases but I would expect better food for the price we paid. The service was attentive. read more

This the second time coming to this location and both experiences have been worth raving over. The service is wonderful, pleasant, and so kind. They knew my fiancé and I were celebrating a milestone and they made us feel so special. Food was hot, delicious, and fresh as usual. My husband and I just had dinner at the bar and the bartender was AMAZING!!! We had the spicy shrimp to start per her recommendation SO GOOD!!! We then shared a few other things!! Lobster bisque and lobster mac and cheese we tasty! My husband had a sirloin cooked perfect!!! Finished with a few old fashions and come Creme Brûlée!! I'm late with my review, because I went out of town the next day. Dinner was excellent! The lamb was cooked very well, and not all fat; Omggggggg, delicious, the chicken was bombbbb! Derek was awesome, not over bearing, yet always around when another drink was needed. The Amaretto Sour's were made exactly as they should taste! The atmosphere, and ambiance was perfect too! The service here is terrible. I told my waiter to split my bill in half with my sister and when I checked my account they charged me the whole bill and a half. I was charged double! Also when I spoke with the manager they were very difficult and short with me on the phone. Never have I ever experienced such terrible service. Once they processed the return for my order they took the charge off my sisters bill and now I'm still left with the double charge on my card! DO NOT EVER GO TO THIS LOCATION! So I ate here a few weeks ago with my girlfriend and holy cow!!! I always wanted to try a Ruth Chris and what an absolute let down. Service was by far worse thing I have ever dealt with, from the server, to the girl pouring my water, food runner, everyone had a horrible attitude. On top of that every side, both meals, even tried a desert hoping for some relief. Nothing was good. This was my first time at Ruth's Chris since moving from California. I remember they had happy hour so decided to come after shopping. Wanted to like this place but it was not a fine dining or high class restaurant experience at all. First the waitress in the front was a bit rude when I came in 5 minutes before happy hour opening, then it took 15 minutes to get seated even though there was no one there. When we got seated, the waiter poured water in our cup and there was a blue plastic piece in our water which is a red flag for a fine dining establishment. Then we had to get moved to the bar since apparently happy hour is bar only. The bartenders were nice, and the drinks were strong which was the only good thing about my dining experience. I ordered a burger medium rare and it came out well done. The bartender lady asked if it was alright as she saw my concern but I decided to let it be. We also ordered the tuna nachos and the chips were so stale, it tasted 5 days old. Won't be back and won't recommend. read more

Ignoring Customers and Giving The Run-Around = Poor Customer Service Writing a review on a chain usually doesn't matter, since people still eat at Applebees. But, the service was so atrocious that this was necessary. Came here for happy hour (9PM-11PM Fridays & Saturdays) We informed the hostess we were here for happy hour. Therefore, we were advised to grab any spot inside the bar area, to which we waited for a space to open up. As we were waiting for a spot to be cleaned up, the hostess advised us "I'm unsure how long it'll take to clean up, so if you want to eat in the main dining area (no happy hour menu offered inside), we can put you in there." Odd, but okay, maybe they wanted to "accomodate", more on this later. I ask a male server if we can take a certain table, he then directs me to the hostess. Standing around aimlessly in the bar area with staff walking by us and completely ignoring us is not a good look. Giving people the run around is poor customer service too. Nonetheless, we eventually grabbed a table. After being seated we had to ask for a drink menu, which came about 10 minutes later. Once seated we asked for happy hour menus (it was 9PM at this point), to which our server mentioned she believes there is no happy hour this evening. We respectfully disagreed and advised her that it mentions this on the Somerville specific Ruth Chris web page, therefore she went ahead to "check" for us. At this point, we went ahead and checked with another server for the menu, to which she said the same exact thing, 'no happy hour this evening.' We had to go to the manager, in order to get a menu, INSANE. Last time I checked, hosts and servers are responsible for menu provisions. TWENTY MINUTES LATER, our server comes back and states "okay there is happy hour this evening" (no menu in hand...) As mentioned earlier in regards to Happy Hour menu, seems as if staff may possibly be trained by either management or corporate to sway away from the Happy Hour menu. If so, that is beyond shady, there is a time and place for $50 steaks, sometimes you want a cheap burger at half off. By this point we had our menu and stated okay we are just going to order. 20 minutes after ordering, our server comes back and informs us there is no short rib. Okay, as emphasized earlier, no communication. We asked for more bread, that too takes about 15 minutes to which we were then informed by our server that the manager had to defrost bread. At this point, why didn't the manager intervene? We sure as hell saw him numerous times and he did gaze at our table in the presence of his server. ANY respectable manager can say a cocktail doesn't take 20 minutes and waitstaff does not take 20 minutes to check if they have short rib for an appetizer. Food was average, burger decent but chicken sandwich was dryer than the Sahara Desert. This review will probably fall on deaf ears. But people need to hear this, it really is unacceptable to not communicate with customers, ignore them and then make them wait insane amounts of time--6-7 times. Ruth Chris Somerville, you may be going through hiccups since you are still new. However, making customers feel unwanted and unwelcome is unacceptable and wicked unprofessional. We hope you all don't treat other people this way. But this was the WORST customer service we have ever had EVER. We will NEVER come back. Good luck with the rest of your endeavors. On the website, it says that there is a happy hour menu from 4-6:30 and 9-11pm as well. We came in with a party of 4, sat in the bar area, at a table to get a happy hour menu. Waitress Kerri, told us she said they were done serving HH after 630. I told her there's a late night menu as well. She went to go check. 20 mins later she got back to us! Without a menu in her hand. I had to go through an obstacle course to get one of these menus! 2 waitresses, a team of hostesses and even the manager. But that's not the crazy part. A table of 2 next to ours got a HH menu, food, drinks before we even got a menu and we sat down first! Kerri's favorite word of the night was "sorry". "Sorry for your drinks to be coming out late" "sorry, your bread that you asked for 20 minutes ago is now defrosting, we're getting it to you now" "sorry, that item that you ordered, we don't have it". Let me start by saying our food actually tasted great, no complaints there, all four steaks were cooked the way we ordered and the service was very, very good, John was our waiter. Ok now for the not so good. First off, one diner ordered Lobster Mac & Cheese for an appetizer, it was not hot, it was actually lukewarm. It's a fairly good sized portion and two other guests stuck their forks in to taste and they agreed, it was nowhere near hot. Next our meals arrive, again no complaints about the taste but the two that ordered mashed potatoes, they also were not hot, and both were lumpy. Maybe that's the way they are supposed to be (lumpy) but neither diner ate them, both said although they tasted good, they were lumpy and lukewarm. We ordered drinks (Expresso Martinis, Old Fashioned, etc), they were all very good. We then ordered desert, which was also very tasty. I ordered a regular American coffee. It was warm, but I use one cream and had I put the cream in, it would have been cold, if that's an indicator of how the temperature was when it was served. I guess that was the theme for the night. Also, their coffee brand is horrible, don't bother ordering. I guess in closing, I don't know if the staff/management reads these reviews but we spent almost $600 for dinner for four, our food should have been hot. Terrible experience tonight. Tough steaks, gaps between apps and dinner. The service staff is just not well selected or trained in any way, shape or form to deliver fine dining at any level. Slang used from SA, to runner as well as server. Calling everyone you guys..,,there were no guys at the table. Over using the word awesome. Apps were very sloppy , rims of plates not wiped. Share plate was dirty And had a gritty feeling. Not properly washed. My medium rare ribeye Was tough, bowed, a strange shape for a ribeye and not seasoned. The server was nice enough but maybe should have been re-tasked as a hostess. Constantly butted into conversations, pre- bussing skills poor. Did not crumb the table. Two managers on duty a very short gentleman that saw that visiting each table and doing drive by visits clearly as a task. Our visit was - is everything, awesome? Then off to the next table with the same spiel. The taller manager spent the night leaning against various walls, corners trying to look busy, while scratching himself. Free valet so that was nice not having to worry about parking. Just the tips. Ordered the seafood platter and was disappointed with the lack of option and only 3 crab legs, we just paid over $60 for a few pieces of lobster and shrimp. Not great. I ordered the petite ribeye and was so excited when it came out sizzling on the plate, smelling delicious but was quickly devastated when I began to chew and realized there was black pepper covering the entire steak. I understand cooking the steak in butter but why on earth do places insist on adding pepper and salt when those things are sitting on the table! If I had known ahead of time the steaks were covered in black pepper I would have ordered it without but there's no mention of that. I was going to try to just scrape off the top and salvage what was left but my husband insisted we send it back considering that for what we spent on it I should be able to enjoy it. The server was fine taking it back but I felt put out as everyone in our party enjoyed their steaks while I sat with nothing just waiting. and waiting. and waiting. At one point the manager even came over and could see that i was sitting with nothing in front of me but didn't even mention it. Once I finally got the non-pepper steak everyone else was pretty much done so I had to eat as fast as I could. We ordered lobster mac and cheese, fries and broccoli as a side. The mac and cheese was so spicy so not eating that, even the people with us who liked a little spice couldn't eat it. The fries were ok and broccoli was good. All in all it wasn't terrible but there were definitely some mistakes that could have been handled better. We'll give this Ruth's a second chance but just one more. read more

This is our first visit to this location, and it certainly won't be our last. Ruth's Chris is always solid wherever you go, but this was by far the best dinner we've had at one in a while. Everything from service to food was on point from start to finish. Hostess was lovely and accommodating with seating requests, and our server Demara was attentive, friendly, and on her game all night. We had a meal with a number of modifications, and she didn't miss a beat--everything came out perfect. Crab cakes were all lump crab and steaks were cooked perfectly. I have to be in a particular mood for brown sugar and pecans on my sweet potatoes and hollandaise on asparagus but when I'm in that mood this is the best place to go. Had our Valentine's Anniversary there this week (a few days late due to travel and work). What was nice was they have "petite" sizes of their favorite cuts. I had a "petite" ribeye (12 oz. instead of 16 oz.) and my husband had a petite filet. I also added shrimp, and the waiter offered the usual advice of choosing two sides to share. We went for scalloped potatoes (diced and creamy with three cheeses) and crimini mushrooms (too rich to finish). We started with an appetizer of ravioli, which was just perfect, 5 meant two each with one to split (seriously, we weren't wasting a bite, really ideal appetizer), and a side of tasty wilted spinach. I kept the other things simple, just drinking beer and finishing with ice cream and coffee. It wasn't crowded, the waiter was super attentive and friendly, it was a filling repast with no leftovers. This totally new space doesn't quite have the pomp and circumstance of the School St. version downtown, but I can see us coming back the next time we want to really indulge. read more

Honestly not what we expected at all. On a business trip with some associates wanted to go out for a perfect dinner and drinks so we chose this location. Walked in around 8 and we sat down at the bar. There was maybe 2 tables and 8 guests at the bar, not busy at all. Ordered drinks and our food. We all got a Ruth classic but 2 of us upgraded to 11oz. Appetizers came out no problem. Then the steak and mashed potatoes came. They brought an extra mashed potato and the bartender said he will eat it in the back if it's extra. Okay cool no problem. Then I cut into the steak and it was DEAD. I ordered medium rare and this was well over well done. I showed the bartender and he said he would fix it for me. The manager then comes and tell us the kitchen has already left for the night so they couldn't remake the steak. The kitchen couldn't even wait to make sure our steaks were correct before leaving. Everyone else was perfect temp but I guess mine was sitting which overcooked it. The manager said I could have an upgrade to my dessert if I would like. I agreed and just told him to the bring the steak back. When he brought it, I guess the put more melted butter and the steak was even more done then before now. I'm hungry so I'm just ate it. They brought out the dessert next and everyone had a small 2 inch cheesecake and mine was HUGE. Idk how this makes up for a 70$ steak being messed up but I was super disappointed by the experience. I got a beer on the house also but still not good enough. Staff are wearing suits and this was the service we got. For 70$ I could have went to Applebees and got a steak dinner for 2 and it would have been better! Very disappointed. I came here with my girlfriend and we had a wonderful meal. We were shopping in the area so we had a lot of bags when we arrived and they immediately offered to take the bags for us which was great. We got a table in the lounge which is a good area to watch a sports game or grab a drink. The first thing we ate was the delicious warm bread with butter. Definitely one of the better breads among steakhouses and not too heavy like the Abe and Louie's butter rolls. For dinner they have the 25 dollars off two entrees and we got the sirloin steak, the meatloaf entree, a wedge salad with blue cheese and a side of mushrooms. Everything was fantastic. The only thing I probably would have skipped next time is the mushrooms. The dessert menu looked great but we decided to skip maybe next time we'll do dessert. Well this place is different.... Well I love the diversity now .. all races .. which was great see at this restaurant. The only issue was the foul mouth swearing and yelling some woman pulling on the other woman's hair weaves and her screaming swearing which was a total turnoff from a once classy restaurant.... The staff is nice but the bar tenders did not know how to make a proper drink... never brought out the bread we asked twice.... Some what low class which is sad for prices are high.... We've gone to the Boston Ruth's Chris, which cannot be beat for atmosphere in the old city hall building, but tried the new Assembly Row one for Christmas Day dinner. Color me impressed. This place is so well run and managed, it is amazing to think it opened only a month ago. Service was excellent. A manager stopped by to check on us. Everything was beautifully prepared. They offered the Ruth's Classics on Christmas Day as well, a nice 3-course option at either $50 or $60 that is a real value. Salads were well prepared and fresh with good, homemade dressings. All the sides were top notch and the steaks were high quaity. Free valet parking. I'd give them 4.5 stars if I could... read more
