Popped in here for a quick lunch while road tripping for Christmas - very surprised to find this gem in the middle of nowhere PA. I had their half soup, half salad option - Italian hero & Italian wedding soup. Both were delicious! Best Italian Hero I've had in a long time - love the boars head meats and cheeses. Yummy, chewy roll. My husband had their Mediterranean wrap and liked it but felt like there was way too much vinegar, almost like they soaked the lettuce in it. But otherwise he enjoyed it. Immaculate bathrooms, Lots of seating, lots of take and bake items. Large selection of drinks, sodas and beer. I would highly recommend it if you need a spot for a quick, healthy, delicious lunch. read more

This place is an oasis in the middle of nowhere. The people who work here are great, the breakfast sandwich I ordered (bacon egg & cheese on an everything bagel) was perfect. The coffee is very good. They sell interesting, quality products. What more could you ask for? Been there several times for breakfast, the food is pretty good, the wait time is very slow. Today, I went there for lunch, Meatball parm hero with provolone. The Provolone was damn near non existant, and what ever cheese they did put on, they microwaved it into the hero, that just killed the bread. Took a couple of bites and tossed it. As long as the owners daughter is not at the register, it will be a pleasant experience. She should be much nicer if she up front and dealing with customers. They have a sign about being kind to the staff...there should be one for her to be kind to the patrons. I walk in, if she's there, I leave. My money is only used for good customer service. read more

Their hero sandwiches are out of sight! I have to practically beg my wife to bring them home when she works nearby on occasional Saturdays. I've never had anything else there so I can't comment but the Italian bread they use for their heros is unlike anywhere else in NEPA. Worth the drive from Scranton! read more

Went there a few times and was happy with the food, store is clean and spacious....I stopped in about a month ago, during covid...there is a sign on the front door masks required as per the Governors Order...well in comes a couple, walking all over the ordering area for sandwiches, unmasked, and now looking and touching all the chips/pretzels etc in the stand up display. I asked a young lady at the register about the mask requirement, she said it was not mandatory...I asked, than why do you have a sign on the door requiring the masks. Another young female behind the counter, possibly the manager came over to me and stated in a firmer tone, it just a directive, not law.. I replied fine, but you didn't have to talk to me in the tone you used, I really don't need to be scolded....her reply was if you are not happy with my tone, you don't have to come back...WOW, I sent their FB page a private message about her down right rudeness, no reply waited a couple of hours, still no reply..I now posted this incident on their FB page, taken down by then within 5 minutes...posted it 4 times and each time removed in minutes, so I am guessing they saw my private message....well, try taking this down...really a shame, I did enjoy their Italian sandwiches, and the clean open atmosphere of the store. read more

I really hate to write this because I always support small business and I know how difficult it can be. Not good. Ryan's used to make a good sandwich. For the past year their portions have gotten smaller. This morning I ordered an egg sandwich and it had two very thin slices of tasteless bacon on it. On thin slice of cheese and the roll (which I ordered dark toasted with butter) was not to order. I previously ordered some lunch sandwiches and they were mostly bread. Very little meat. I may as well go to Weis and make it myself. I truly hope the owner can take some constructive criticism and fix it. read more

i was prepared to write a very long winded, negative review of ryan's deli, but I decided that would be unfair to them, so I've rewritten it to consolidate my criticisms and give credit where due. I can't promise it won't still be long-winded but I want to be as fair as I can in vocalizing these critiques. So to start; the sandwiches here are good. The hot food items are decent. Ultimately, it's a pretty good deli for the area, they do know what they're doing when it comes to food preparation. My personal issues come from the execution and customer service. For one thing, they are extremely ham-happy with their deli sandwiches. It doesn't matter how many meats are on the sandwich you order, if one of them is ham it WILL be the vast majority of the meat contents of the sandwich. To some individuals this may be a non-issue, but I personally like equal meat distribution on my hoagie, especially when the "roast beef sub" comes with more ham than roast beef as a result of this practice. I was very unhappy that day. My second issue is far more circumstantial, so do take it with a grain of salt. But today when we ordered a PCP(prosciutto cappicola provolone) they didn't bother to tell me they were out of cappicola until AFTER we payed by card and were there to pick up the sandwiches. It was still a decent sandwich, but it's NOT what I ordered, and again WAY TOO MUCH HAM! There was barely and prosciutto at all, it was not AT ALL what we payed for. Had I know they were out of the cappi, I would have changed my order instead. If I had to sum up my opinions on Ryan's Deli, it would be this: the food is alright, but it's not my first choice for a deli in Pike county, not even on route 739. If you intend to frequent there, learn what they make well and stick to it. read more

I absolutely LOVE ryan's. When they first opened I had very rude service and took years for me to go back. People told me that things had changed, so I decided to try it again and I was pleasantly surprised. They have the best bagels in the area (not much compeition), and their prices are very reasonable. There is a nice little sitting area and its a very welcoming environment. If I am hitting the road early I have been known to call them up before leaving, and just pick it up on my way. Best breakfast sandwich this side of ANYWHERE. That's really all I can say. Okay, there's more. You can get a full breakfast -- toast, omelet, breakfast potatoes -- for super, super cheap. Cheaper than you can get it at any diner, guaranteed. The place is always filled with regulars -- old, weathered people gnawing bagels, and that's all the charm there is. The food is good and prices fair. The atmosphere is comfortable and staff is friendly. My complaint is they have no baby changing station in any bathroom so if your little one needs changing you must go outsise in the cold or rain to do it. When asked why none is available, the response was its a insurance liability issue. read more

We've been here several times and each time our food has been very good. We really like the new location with more space to sit and eat and visit with our friends and neighbors.
