Delicious sandwiches with quality ingredients in a cute neighborhood setting is really all I need to say. BUT I'll go on... At 12:30pm on a Sunday Rybread was packing them in. They only have three two tops inside, scarce standing room and four tables outside the front. They also have an outdoor patio, but I'm not sure if it was open in the winter months. I substituted the Tuscon (panini with turkey, Swiss, onions, chipotle mayo) with tomatoes instead of onions, and it was mmm. The chipotle mayo really sent it over the top, and I think when tomatoes are in season it would be really killer. The boyfriend got the Philadelphia: salami, capicola, prosciutto, sharp provolone, greens, tomatoes, onions, salt, pepper and oil. This bad boy was delicious, piled with a working man's portion of meat, and served on a really fresh ciabatta. Sooo tasty with absolutely no need for mayo (and you'll rarely hear that sentiment from me). The boyfriend's only complaint was that the menu said "greens" and it came with plain old iceberg lettuce, which I agree was a bummer. I can't wait to try the Santa Fe, San Francisco, the San Antonio and the Alexandria. Oh crap, I want them all. Tips: They don't do water in a glass, only bottled water (and other bottled and hot cafe drinks). Rybread! You have my love and support forever. I come here at least once a week, whether to grab a quick bite or use the wifi for an hour and soothe my guilt of doing so by ordering a small iced coffee... It's a great feeling to walk in and be recognized by the staff and especially have them make an effort to know your name. The little things, you know? On top of that, the food I've noshed on have been delicious and fulfilling (so far!) The Austin salad is one of my favorites, only because it's so hearty and has quite the backbone for a salad with lettuce. There could be a teeny bit more chicken but I'm still 95% satisfied with eating it. At first, I was apprehensive of the $9 pricing BUT I firmly believe it's worth it. There's another item that I'm quite fond of which is a vegetarian sandwich with hummus (the name eludes me) and it's a fan favorite of my vegetarian/vegan friends when they visit me. The veggie to bread ratio is heavenly and makes me feel.. dare I say.. healthy? They only have one blend of coffee but I'm not a big artisan coffee connoisseur so I can't say much about it. They have quite the selection of desserts (I'm a SUCKER for carrot cake) and a good amount of bottled beverages and chips you can buy if you're not feeling coffee or food. It's a nice spot to have in the neighborhood and one of the reasons why I love living in the area. Love love this place! Good quality ALL around. I'm not based in philly so with me having dietary restrictions in different cities, it's always a toss up. Rybread landed for sure. I had a gluten free breakfast sandwich with lox and vegan cream cheese. then 2 custom salads one of which had the crab cake that was fantastic. They also have vegan ice cream! The coconut macaroon was amazing. An entire full course worth of food that I can eat outside of a vegan/gluten-free establishment is pretty much unheard of. So I'm thankful beyond that RyBread saw fit to accommodate us food-allergy kids. It was a win overall especially during the pandemic. Give em a try. read more

I had been going to the old location a number of times. Ordered a Roast Beef sandwich for myself and a Rachel (Reuben with turkey instead of corned beef) also. Picked up the order and when I came home. The Rachel was burned to a crisp. Went back and an associate said she would remake it. Went home and open it to find it with corned beef. Went back again to have it remade yet again The roast beef was dry and small. No bold flavors and I found it to be quite plain. Will definitely be trying other sandwich places in the area instead. After spending time in the Philadelphia Art Museum and working up some hunger, we walked several blocks to Rybread because I was really craving a good sandwich. Rybread did not dissapoint! I was so happy to stuff my face with the Alexandria panini - a wonderful assemblage of ham, cheddar, green apple and honey mustard on marbled rye bread, complete with awesome grill marks from the panini press. To go with the sandwich, which came wrapped up deli-style in aluminum foil, I had bacon and cheddar chips (!!) and peach iced tea, which was nice and thirst-quenching on a hot July day. My husband had the San Fran sandwich. It had pesto and tomato and it was very good as well. The only downside is that indoor seating is very limited, however we were lucky enough to get an indoor seat, so no complaints here. I highly enjoyed the Savannah sandwiches (turkey with cranberry sauce and stuffing) they sampled at the Yelp Backstage Pass Party, so I put them on my list to try if I was ever in the area. Since I was in the area on Sunday, I joined the wife there for a quick brunch. It's a busy small place with a line at noon on Sunday. I consider this a good sign. Basically, I got one of the better bacon egg and cheese sandwiches on a sesame bagel that I've had in the area. My wife loved the Denver sandwich with the chicken salad, and my taste of the sandwich confirmed that. It is good, fresh, and chunky chicken salad. The LeBus bread works well with their ingredients. The coffee was a strong cup, and the flavored syrup meant I didn't even need to add sugar. Even though most of the seats were taken, we managed to steal a spot in the quaint back outdoor nook which added to the ambiance. I can see why they are popular. I may not drive in from Delco just to eat here, but I'm more than happy to stop here if I happen to be in the area. Ah, I haven't given a poor review for a place in awhile, but after scrolling through other reviews and looking at photos I've realized that my order and my friend's order were completely wrong. This coffeehouse is perfect for getting work done and for a quick drop in! The baristas and the kitchen staff are always sweet and the food is so amazing! The style is comforting and they have a large workspace table for you and others to sit at! Also, side bar sitting and individual tables too. I wish I could give a 4.5 on this one. I have a special place in my heart for Rybread. They opened right after I first left Philly for the windy city. I remember returning to my old neighborhood and falling in love with their fresh bagels and delicious croissant breakfast sandwiches. When I finally moved back to Philly, I moved a bit further up Fairmount ave for easy access to the city, but the Hollywood sandwich kept me traveling back to Rybread on a semi-regular basis. My biggest downside is location. It's too far from the subway and the heart of the Fairmount/Spring Garden neighborhood and it's just too small. I heard they are moving up Fairmount ave a bit (which I'm hoping is true) because then this will be our go-to spot once again. Even if they don't, it's still worth the trek down to that end of Fairmount, just plan to carry out. read more

For a sandwhich shop, Rye Bread is definitely a quick, quality lunch stop in Fairmount. There's so many options between breakfast sandwhiches and oatmeal for breakfast. Then there's cold sandwhiches and paninis for lunch. The Denver is the classic chicken salad sandwhich with greens. Personally I thought it was a little dry and unimpressive but we also ordered the Savanah which is a roast turkey, cranberry sauce and brie sandwhich and that blew my socks off. The service is always great and the location is right on Fairmount a block from the art museum and parking isn't too horrible. I think the price for the add ons like the chips and sodas can be a bit pricey so a 7 dollar sandwhich turns into a 13 dollar meal real quickly. But all in all I go there very often and usually enjoy my sandwhich. read more

I can't comment on the atmosphere of the shop itself since I did not eat in, but the pickup service was on point yesterday when my fiance and I needed an easy lunch to entertain his parents for Father's Day. We just moved into a new house over the weekend and currently are living in a sea of boxes, so we were a bit frazzled yesterday when my future in-laws arrived and we needed to offer them something to eat. Enter GrubHub + Rybread to save the day! Although GrubHub told us pickup time was 35-45 minutes, it took them less than 20 to prepare our order, and that includes the time they took to call to ask what flavor chips we wanted and whether it was okay to sub out spring mix for lettuce on one of the sandwiches. We were all new to Rybread sandwiches but very pleased with our orders. The food isn't cheap, but it certainly is quality, and I have no doubt we will return often. read more

What a lovely place. Came here on a good weather Saturday afternoon after weeks of cold weather and snow. It looked like more of a take out place to me. We got a table on the sidewalk so that was great. I love people watching. I ordered the Thai chicken salad and husband ordered Austin salad. You can tell we're trying to eat healthy. Food comes in to go boxes so it's easy to just take leftovers with you. Both the salads came with shredded chicken and dressings on the side. Food was fresh and serving size was perfect. After reading some awesome reviews and hearing so many great things after Yelp's Backstage Pass Party, I knew I had to cross town and check out Rybread. With our day off today, it was the perfect opportunity for me and the boy to check the place out for lunch. The chalkboard of choices was extensive. Everything sounded so great but I was pretty committed to the Charlotte. Sadly, I made the unwise decision to switch to multigrain bread. This was sad because the bread got a little soggy with the pickles, honey mustard and tomatoes. My own fault, of course. Next time, I'll stick with the recommended bread option. The ingredients were all fresh and delicious; the price was right. Their counter staff was also very friendly. The strawberry iced tea was delightful and I also got to take a coffee home after redeeming my check-in offer. I'll be returning soon to check another sammie off the list! read more

How is is that Fairmount is the only neighborhood in Philly that adores mediocrity? This is one of the great examples of how a less-than-acceptable place is given props, but much better places are routinely ignored. The design of the place first and foremost makes ordering a sandwich an ordeal. The counter and kitchen are clearly not designed by anyone who has any restaurant experience. The inefficiencies of design mean that a simple order can take twenty minutes to fulfill. If they are busy (which is often, since they can't serve their clientele efficiently , just having three people in line creates chaos). The food itself is uniformly mediocre. Soft and flavorless. Pretty much every sandwich I have had is just about the same. This is food for people who grew up in suburbia. read more
