This is a great modern take on the traditional Jewish deli. When I first got a sandwich here I wasn't sure that something that was pretty simple ( it's basically 4 oz. of meat, some cheese, sauce, and occasionally coleslaw or kraut) could be any good. But they are fantastic. You can tell care went into selecting quality ingredients. You can see them hand slicing pastrami and corned beef fresh for each order. The bread is delicious and tastes freshly baked. Both the homemade Russian dressing and their tarragon mustard they use are superb. I've had the 18+1, the fat Jewish, and the green gables and all are great. Also, the dr. Rosen's feel good bowl is so good, especially topped with pastrami. This place is amazing ! I'm pretty sure we ordered half of the menu. While there isn't a lot of seating at this location we got the food to go and enjoyed it at red rock amphitheater. The matzah ball soup was so yummy. I got a bagel with turkey and cream cheese, my friend got the 18 plus 1 and we devoured it within minutes. The house cold brew is powerful and had us both cracked our for our drive (in a good way). I wish the potato latkes had been bigger, bit that's also because I didn't want to share them! I also got a cookie to go which I haven't eaten yet but look forward to. Lastly I gotta say I love the staff. Had lunch here for the first time and I am thrilled to say that this will be one of my new favorite food spots in the RiNo neighborhood!!! I loved the sandwiches that the old cafe at the same location (hutch and spoon) used to serve...but I have to say that these are even better!!! The turkey sandwich on rye with a little of their coleslaw on top was OMG PERFECTION. my friend ordered the pastrami, which I tried despite not being a red-meat eater and it was seriously one of the best tasting meats I've ever had...I guess they get it from THE Carnagie Deli in NYC! I also got a to-go package of lox and schmear, which I am PSYCHED to eat on one of their Rosenberg bagels. So, all in all, i highly recommend stopping by this great deli! I was excited to try this place out since it seems Denver is lacking in authentic Jewish delis. I ordered the 7oz corned beef. Meat was good, rye was good, and service was fast and nice, but I wasn't blown away or anything. Also, $12 seemed a bit steep for meat and bread. "Dressed" would have been an additional $2.50 and cheese is $1.50 so you can easily work your way up to a $16 sandwich. The side slaw was good, but I wish they had at least filled up the little cup it comes in. I would like to give 3.5 stars because nothing was bad but nothing was great either. read more

My boyfriend and I were very close to rye society and were very excited to try it. Upon walking in we felt immediately uncomfortable as the workers there made us feel very unwanted. I distinctly remember my boyfriend ordering his breakfast sandwich without sauce as he does it every restaurant. As we waited for our food we heard them talk about whether or not there was sauce on his sandwich from afar. When they brought it to us, it had sauce on it so I told him to go ask them if they could remake it. The man at the front counter said my boyfriend never asked for no sauce and that he was going to have to buy a new one. We spent $18 for a shitty breakfast sandwich. Amazing matzah ball soup! Unfortunately the rest of the experience was a let down. Everything comes in to go packaging which isn't my favorite when I'm dining in. Not busy 9am Saturday with plenos seating available. Expensive- $40 for two people at brunch. Besides the soup the food was meh. Also, POS system wasn't working and our cards were declined multiple times: embarrassing & annoying. UPDATE: I went back again later in the day at few weeks after my review and they now have a place running like clockwork! I ordered the fat Jewish and Matzah ball soup and it was incredible. The place is nice and food is good (except we didn't get what we ordered). However, even if you eat in everything is served in plastic. Each pickle in plastic wrapping, soups served in small non-recyclable containers and plastic silver wear. Traditional Jewish pastries tossed in a plastic bag even thought we emphasized eating in the restaurant. At least the coffee was served in a real cup. We ordered the pastrami sandwich hot and got it cold. We sent it back and they friendly guy said "sorry" and took it back. Five minutes later we got a new package with the sandwich. Again cold... at this point kids were hungry and we decided to eat it. We did get another "sorry" for them forgetting to toast it. The chocolate hazelnut rugelach however was delicious. I was so excited about a new Jewish deli in Denver. One that may be better than average...unlike every other deli in Denver. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. We shared one corned beef and one pastrami sandwich. Pastrami was very lean and good. Corned beef was extremely fatty. Rye bread was better than any other deli in Denver which is what I was looking for but not as good as any decent deli in L.A., NY or Chicago. No yellow mustard which my wife and I both prefer to brown deli mustard (not a big deal but they should offer both) Cole slaw was very good. Pickle better than most but not the kind of deli pickle I had hoped for. When I order a piece of babka (cake) the girl at the register asked how are sandwiches were and I commented about the fattiness of the corned beef and a man behind the counter (who I presume to be the owner) said I could ask for it lean the next time. I said being my first time, I didn't know to ask. Frankly, they should never have served it this fatty...period. Rye Society is one of the top two in my yelp finds. I was in Boulder for my cousins wedding this past weekend and decided to drive into Denver to see what was happening. Didn't really have a plan just drove around to check out the scene. I was looking for a place to eat and came across their page and was instantly drawn in. I love me some rye bread and pastrami so I made the trek. I was taken aback by the ambiance of the place; very hip and modern while retaining a very old world feel. It was about 11am so I chose off the breakfast menu; rye egg on pumpernickel. Man...this thing was on point. Generous amount of meat that was cooked perfectly. Threw a bunch of mustard on that thing and went to town. I also grabbed a cinnamon roll while I was there. It's more of a croissant style dough but it was delicious; super fluffy and flakey. I spoke with a couple of the people that worked there, including the owner, and they were all great individuals. Super passionate about their craft and making sure everyone walks out with a smile on their face. Go here, enough said. read more

Well, I'm a fan of REAL east coast deli's. And I wasn't disappointed with the pastrami at Rye Society. Flavorful and just the right combination of fat, meat and slice. And the 8oz fit my needs as a huge bite. The rye bread ironically let down the pastrami. It is the "rye society" afterall. A bit too Denver-ish rye for me. Not much flavor, soft crust, and started falling apart on about the second bite. 8oz of pastrami needs a lot of "support". It seemed more like grocery store rye than say, the other deli down on east Hampden. One needs a bit of bite to the crust, good flavor of rye and high gluten substructure to hold that 8oz together. Had the 18+1...so good, and I can't wait to go back (although I'll have to wait a day because that sandwich is HUGE). The Denver area is dying for pastrami like this from Rye Society - and per the huge mural as you walk in, the owner's family has been feeding Denver since the early 1900's (pretty cool story)! The staff was very friendly and made sure everything came out ok. My mom enjoyed a delicious sugar cookie even more than she enjoyed the pet/friendly wallpaper in the bathroom (you'll see what I mean). This may be a me thing, but the copper cups at the water station is a nice touch, too! After having the pastrami, I can't wait to try all the other sandwiches. I hear they get their meat from the same people who are a supplier for Carnegie Deli...so it all makes sense. Delicious! read more
