I have wanted to try this place for awhile and finally got the chance for lunch. I had the egg salad sandwich and a rugelach cookie. Both excellent, the egg salad and bread some of the best I've had in Denver. Only downside is pretty steep price for a basic sandwich and pickle (lettuce, tomato, etc cost extra) and not much seating. They could probably fit more tables and seating on their patio if they reconfigured it slightly. I'll be back to try their breakfast sandwiches. read more

I had unfortunately already had a mediocre lunch elsewhere but when I expressed the pastrami looked delicious in front of an employee, they offered me a sample which was generous and juicy good. What an awesome freaking lunch! Stopped in on my bike 1st day of August, had the Fat Jewish sandwich which was the Carnegie Pastrami and Corned Beef, cole slaw, pickle and on probably the freshest, softest rye bread (baked in house daily I think) I've ever had. This is my new 'go to', however wasn't perfect....menu said 'piled high'. I had thoughts of, say, New York Deli News' Corned beef on rye; its about 2 inches deep of meat. RS has THE BEST meats, but are pretty skimpy with it, thus 4 stars. Go, go now before it takes off, which it will and the crowds will be foreboding... And just to address what I just saw in a review, everyone that I dealt with was totally happy I was there, smiling, polite and quick service...but then i was there before Noon when the lines come.... read more

I was in Denver for the weekend and we chose Rye Society for lunch on Saturday-great move on our part. My son and I split the 18+1 pastrami sandwich and a Dr Rosen's Feel Good Bowl. Both were delicious! The pastrami was amazingly tasty and the bowl had a great flavor blend. Even though the line was out the door, the wait was not long at all. The staff were all friendly. I was pretty excited about this place, but it wasn't anything special. It was expensive for what you got. My friend got the $12 "small" pastrami sandwich. It was a pathetic amount of meat for the price. I got the 18+1 because I liked the idea of grilled bread with pastrami, slaw, and Swiss. It was barely warmed. I was full, but not worth it for the price. The homemade bread was great though. I'd happily take just that. Plus they have Dr Brown's soda. But other than that, I was underwhelmed. read more

What a lovely deli! The family history here in Denver, the eclectic decor (Jewish wall of fame) and the DELICIOUS FOOD. must try the 18+1 sandwich for lunch, so tasty!!! The owner is very efficient and helpful, he gave us many smiles and a great conversation. The copper water cups is a neat authentic touch. Rye Society is the Jewish deli that Denver needs and deserves. I stopped in while in town this past weekend on recommendation of a very trustworthy friend and was delighted with my meal! As a New York transplant living in LA, I had to try the #18 +1 - an homage to LA's Langer's #19 (my favorite sandwich of all time) made with Carnegie pastrami. The pastrami was perfect and the proportions of meat/slaw/russian were evenly distributed between the rye slices - very crucial! The owner Jerrod was also super cool and friendly. I woke up with an intense sandwich craving one morning so I was immediately on a quest to find the best sandwich in Denver. We arrived around 10a and their lunch menu wasn't open yet but they let us order from it anyway (thank you)! We ordered the #18+1 and The Green Gables. The portions were quite big and we left SUPER full. I could barely finish my sandwich but it was so good that I had to. This place really understands how to encompass a true jewish delicatessen while also being fast and easy for a quick pick up. It's close to all the breweries in rino so you can grab a quick sandwich or bowl during your day out on the town. I was blown away by the amazing vegan options! The feel good bowl is already vegan -- super fulfilling and amazing, they put almost an entire avocado ontop! I also got the borscht without sour cream and the pickles. Came with high expectations and hope. Didn't leave defeated, but a tad disappointed. Corned beef was sorta dry. Had it topped with Cole slaw, Russian dressing and Swiss cheese. Cole slaw had no flavor, and that's the big "xtra" ingredient on that sandwich. Overall it was bland. Wife had pastrami with mustard and that was good. Ruggalah was very good. The food was great. I ate a lox bagel and tried the pastrami. Both were really excellent. I gave the restaurant three stars because the waste management. Everything was served in disposable containers, they only had disposable silverware, and the food was given in a paper bag, even if you are eating in the resultant. Disappointing. After anxiously waiting months for the debut of Rye Society, I finally was able to try it. What a disappointment. Hard to understand what they're are trying to accomplish. Let's start off with the fact it was hotter than hell inside. Do you have air conditioning? Second, there are 4 tiny tables and nowhere to sit. I came with a group of friends and got a 18-1 to go. They have Swiss spelled wrong on the menu but that is the least of this sandwich's problems. Where is the meat? This is what I opened the sandwich to. An utter joke of a sandwich. I absolutely love their sandwiches (Reuben and tuna especially) but I'm giving them a 4 star because I swear they get my order correct maybe 1 out of 5 times. I go there for those items plus the rye bread. So when I get home and find it's not rye or it's missing an add on (that I paid for), I'm disappointed. But I keep going because it's so good read more

EDIT: I just tried the 18+1; the pastrami is indeed fantastic. I've adjusted my rating based purely on the pastrami. I am still hoping that the pricing issues below are improved to make the extras worth it. I just finished eating one of the most mediocre turkey sandwiches of my life, and it cost $14. Perhaps it's my own fault for not getting the pastrami, but I wanted something light. So the way this works is that the base price is for meat and bread. To get the sandwich dressed, was an additional $2.50. The dressing consisted of a few slices of tasteless tomato, a piece of limp lettuce, and some scattered red onion. For $2.50. Then cheese is an extra $1.50 for one single see-through slice (in my photo you can actually see the color change between the dark paper and the light bread through the cheese!). The cheese on its own was tasty, but disappeared when eaten with the sandwich because there was so little of it. Mustard, meat, and bread were ok, but nothing special. To make matters worse, the cashier rang up turkey pastrami instead of plain turkey (an honest mistake, no big deal). When the manager refunded the difference, which was a $2 price delta per the menu, he gave me back $1.04. I pointed out that there was a $2 difference and he held up the new receipt and said that taxes accounted for the lower refund. I tried to explain that this was absurd as the refund should be more than $2 since taxes were higher on the original higher amount. But he just repeated that it was 'because taxes'. Finally I just left because I didn't feel like arguing over a dollar. Typically, this level of nonsense makes me never want to go back to an establishment. Which is a shame, I was hoping to try the pastrami. read more

Grew up eating Reuben's, Pastrami and Corned beef and this place knows how to make a legit sandwich! I don't particularly love coleslaw which comes with each sandwich but really enjoyed theirs. The apricot rugelach was tasty, apparently made by the owner's Aunt, but I still think Rosenberg's is the best in town. I read the pickles are made in house and only complaint is they just give you a spear. I'd prefer a whole pickle. Just wish this was a larger deli that allowed for more sitting down and eating there. This is one of my favorite lunch spots in Denver. Everything I've gotten has been amazing. The 18+1 is one of the best sandwiches I've ever had and the tuna is not far behind. If you're a fan of lox, I highly highly recommend the Hebrew Hammer for breakfast/brunch. Other reviews have mentioned the rugelach, and I would definitely have to agree that it is pretty amazing! It just melts in your mouth with the right amount of sweetness. I wish I lived closer because it would be so much more convenient, but I'm so excited that they cater because I'm definitely planning on having them cater my next office party. read more

Ordered for takeout. The matzo soup was absolutely delicious, and the vegetarian hot borscht was tangy and good. I would've liked a dollop of sour cream on the borscht, though. Dr. Rosen's feel good bowl and tuna sandwiches were good. Unfortunately they didn't get my Ruben order correctly, so I received a meat version instead of portobello, which was disappointing. This place is adorable and the staff is very friendly. Yes, the sitting area is small, but there is more seating outside. I am gluten free, and they do have gluten free bread. That said, while the sand which itself was lovely (I had the turkey with Russian dressing), the GF bread leaves something to be desired. It is rather heavy, falls apart easily, and has a strong rice flavor. I ended up just eating the "insides" of the sand which and throwing most of the bread away. I am not sure if the restaurant itself bakes the GF bread, but there are better tasting options available (even if they have to outsource), so that would be my one suggestion for improvement. read more

Owner's family apparently has a long history in Denver in the food industry, which is pretty cool. Been wanting to go here since they specialize in pickles and pastrami. While the guy at the counter was nice enough, I thought he could have been way more helpful with the menu - it was obvious we had no clue what to order and he wasn't going out of his way to help us. Menu seemed to be priced a little high, and I was expecting much more ambience on the inside. Also bummed to know that your sandwich comes with chips, then you realize when it comes out that it's just a sad bag of Lay's. It worked for lunch, but I expected much more, especially to compete with other local delis in the area. The pickles though, were amazing. Not really impressed. Wife had a turkey sandwich; when she asked what dressings were available, options were mustard or ketchup. Who runs a deli that doesn't offer Russian, ranch, etc? My biggest issue is that for two sandwiches, one bottle of Coke and water we somehow ended up being charged $35. Won't be back. I'm used to prices in downtown Chicago and New York, and this place doesn't really compare. read more
